Herr 'Doctor' Vogel
theme song:;
Killing Time by Infected Mushroom
description:;
Rarely seen and even more rarely identified, Herr Vogel is the enigmatic Doctor of the sickened, and the caretaker of the wretched. Almost never seen outside of his usual "Doctoring" attire, little is known about what he actually looks like, though there are some speculations.
The first speculation is that he is himself stricken with some form of illness, or plague of the skin. This explains the full-body attire he covers himself in. A second speculation made by the knowing is that there really isn't anything under the heavy wear, and that if undressed, angry spirits will be released. Many such theories exist between the ones who have met the mysterious being, though each and every one of them is decidedly false.
Herr Vogel does not, in fact, have any sort of infection, or disease in the common sense of the word. Nor is he transparent, or ghost-like. He stands at roughly six feet tall, has a head of short, shaggy black hair, and brown eyes. His features are strong, and his jaw is typically in possession of a thin layer of stubble. The skin covering the man's well muscled, but not overly so, body is a slightly pale color due his near constant confinement to his suit. His posture is excellent, having been raised in an environment where such things were a necessity, and his manners are exquisite, contrary to popular belief.

Honestly preferring the more passive route for the most part, he carries little in the way of self defense. He has a metal rod about a quarter inch in diameter for prodding things, a staff that a lantern hangs from, and a surgeon's kit full of sharp objects, needles, and chemicals. All of which can be used with skill to defend himself if needed, along with his martial abilities. When it absolutely MUST come down to violence, he carries a simple Colt .38 caliber Police revolver in a jacket pocket, with a box of ammunition in his medical kit.

Herr Vogel wears what is more or less constituted as a typical "Plague Doctor's costume", though he has made some modifications to his.
The thick leather long coat he wraps himself in contains numerous metal wires along it's length to reinforce it, and help it retain it's shape.
The beaked mask upon his face is very thick, hardened black leather, and actually contains an air filter as opposed to herbs and spices. It's eyes are a deep Sanguine hue, and have a dark wire mesh over them.
He wears a sturdy pair of high-rising leather boots over some insulated trousers, which have an insulated black shirt tucked into them.
Vogel's head sports a leather hat typical of the general "Plague Doctor" type, also with a wire mesh inside of it.
The gloves he wears sport compact metal plates on their backs, and a thick leather surface.

transportation:;
Usually travels by foot or public transportation, though he DOES have a knack for getting from point A to point B in an extremely timely manner. No one is quite sure how he does it, and if ever asked, he simple replies with "I walked."

It was a charming day in the midst of July, somewhere deep within the confines of France. The local children were frolicking through the fields of wheat and barley, the adults working the Vineyard, everything was as it should be. Well, except for the stable boy hiding in an old abandoned barn some distance off.
The boils and sores had started to emerge from the tattered sleeves covering the young man's arms, and it was only a matter of time before they spread to the rest of his body as well. He had tried desperately to make them go away, from cutting them off, to holding a block of ice to them until they froze, but nothing was working. He knew exactly what it was, and he knew that finding a remedy was hopeless. It was all he could hope for that no one would stumble on his bleeding corpse and spread the infection.
A painful memory, but a necessary one. It was the beginning of his life, as far as the living dead go. Shortly after he thought his life was over a wandering doctor came across him, who just so happened to be not only a vampyre, but also a sort of physician for those afflicted by the plague. The stable hand for the village had died of the plague that day, and through his ashes Herr Vogel was born.
It took many a year for Vogel to turn into the man he has become present day, years filled with violence, misery, death, and sickness. He was trained by the man who saved his un-life in the arts of magically treating the wounds of the self, and of others. Along with the various arts of surgery, and everything required of a budding physician. On the day of his "Graduation", Herr Vogel was given the task of crafting his own set of equipment, and taught one last lesson by his master. The art of using one's divine power to inflict the most horrifying of sicknesses and plagues upon one's enemies. After this, the two physicians enjoyed a bottle of wine, and went their separate ways.
It is said that the French stable boy took the German name "Herr Vogel" in honor of his teacher, savior, and peer, though he would never clarify if questioned on the matter. One of the few subjects he is utterly unwilling to talk about. On other subjects however, especially those pertaining to medical categories, he is quite knowledgeable and willing to inform and teach.

Finding the whole concept of healing the sick falling under no particular god's realm, Vogel leans the closest towards Anpu. For if he cannot be blessed for using his abilities to save everyone, he can at the very least save a select few. His "Deadly wood" is Palm.
