Hooded figures walking the alleys of New York were not an uncommon sight this late at night, but she knew that she was drawing many stares none the less. The ragged hoodie she had 'borrowed' from the corpse of her victim earlier that day was doing little to hide the fact that she was a woman, alone, at night. Her long shapely legs clearly showed through the many ragged holes in her black dress. And not even the deep folds of the too-large hoodie could hide the prodigious curves of the woman. It was not these that drew the stares however.
The succubus had her wings folded up onto her back, a large shirt draped over them to at least partially disguise what they were. Her tail remained curled up within her dress, but wings were much harder to hide. The stares at least were curious, wondering what she was trying to hide, but any supernatural or Hunter would guess instantly. The strange lumps in the sides of her hood from her horns also drew their fair share of attention.
Sylviidae sighed, glaring at those whose gaze lingered on her for too long. She had left her scythe somewhere safe in the wilds, but she was far from defenseless. She also knew that many of these pathetic humans were contemplating robbing her, or attacking her for less material reasons. Filthy pests. It was a big risk coming here in disguise like this, but despite her general hatred for humanity she did enjoy her short trips into their society.
All around her there was such life, such activity, such corruption. If anything could be admired about the race it was the unthinking selfishness that afflicted so many. They would rob, rape and kill each other all without a thought for how their actions affected others. She was proud of them for that, the way a teacher was proud of an astute student, yet she hated them for the same reasons. She hated them because this unthinking destructiveness was aimed at her kind by the Hunters of the species.
Sighing she continued to walk, bare feet slapping against the filthy concrete. Looking down at her dirty feet, once covered with beautiful high heels, she remembered that this trip had another purpose. Her time in Canada had been entertaining, she had fed well on those hiking in the wilds, but she had been forced to live like an animal. Her dress was torn, her shoes long gone, and she hadn't had a bath in anything other than a mountain stream in ages. She needed to find somewhere she could get all of these things while remaining discrete.

Red had been spending a couple of days hunting down a particular book for her collection, containing a very condensed index of dragons from around the world, as well as the more popular versions found in recent media. Not having the patience to order the book online, she had opted into locating a store that kept it in stock, which led her to New York City.
Fortunately, she had been capable of getting to the store before it closed, the daylight hours fading away into dusk. She had heard many stories on the news about all kinds of attacks against lone travellers, part of the reason that she hid a Swiss Army Knife in her pocket. It wasn't much, but perhaps it would help to ward away someone who had any ideas. Not that she carried cash that often, as she opted into using a debit card whenever she could, as most of the money she made tended to be sent straight to her bank account from her employers.
Ensuring that she had her things, Red began to trek back toward the waterfront, which would be a long trip considering the size of the city. The daylight hours fading quickly, Red decided to take the risk of cutting through alleys, in an attempt to make a more direct path toward the docks. Fortunately the lights were bright enough to allow her to see where she was going, though the growing shadows made the surrounding walls and crevices much more eerie. Cutting through street after street, she made sure every step of the way that she was going the right direction, as not to get turned around in the sprawling metropolis.
As she continued on, she caught sight of a woman, walking alone with a tattered dress and bare feet. The skewed light made it hard to make out much of the figure, but Red couldn't help but wonder if she might be in some kind of distress, or need some kind of help. Without thinking, she stopped to approach her. "Excuse me, do you need any help?" she asked.

Sylviidae paused, staring at the girl from beneath her hood. She looked to be about twenty or so, maybe younger. It was hard sometimes to remember to behave like a seventeen year old when she was several times that age. "I...I think that I am lost." she whimpered, trying to make her voice sound suitably pitiful. Any girl caught alone in these alleys would have surely been terrified, which drew her attention back to the girl.
She was young and did not appear to be armed, much less a supernatural. But any normal human would certainly be afraid, and she did not seem nervous in the least. Perhaps she was one of those who could disguise themselves as merely human to avoid detection? "Are you lost too?" she asked hopefully, smiling nervously and looking into her eyes. "Maybe we could travel together, it would be safer."
Sylviidae realized that she had not eaten in a while, but this girl could prove herself more useful before death. Syl had been planning on robbing a store for what she needed, but she also had money from her many victims. If this girl could shop during the day, without having to hide, it would be far easier for her.

Red offered her a smile, keeping a tight grasp on the book as she looked over to a pair of street signs. "It would certainly be much safer." she replied, readjusting her grasp on her property before turning to face the woman once more. "I don't live here to really know where everything is, but I would be more than happy to help." Red replied, hoping that Ancaladar wouldn't be too worried if she showed up a little late. She had told him that she would have been in the city all day, so he would likely be expecting her to return that night.
She didn't understand why, but something about this stranger made her feel a bit nervous. She couldn't put her finger on it, but it was a strange sensation. She had no reason visually to fear her, but yet something inside told her to. However she wouldn't show it, having a habit of being too kind for her good. She always wanted to help other people when she could, part of the reason she was still there. Red wasn't the kind of person to simply give directions, but rather to ensure they actually make it to where they needed to go.
"So where do you need to go?" she asked, waiting for the strange woman to make the first move. She couldn't help after all unless she knew what she needed help with.

Sylviidae noticed that the girl was not even acting afraid after they had been talking for some time. Typical humans would have been acting quite paranoid, affected by the same feeling of fear that everyone was afflicted by near demons. Yet she acted so friendly, like nothing was out of place. She had to be some kind of supernatural, which meant that Syl might be in danger herself.
Instantly on guard Sylviidae ducked deeper underneath her hood, ensuring that her horns remained hidden. "To be honest I just want to find someplace safe." she said quietly, no longer certain about going along with this girl. "I was out shopping and lost my way, I have been wandering around ever since." It was almost the truth...well not really. She was hunting as much as shopping, and she was never lost, not when she could simply fly above the buildings and see where she was.
"My name is Sylvia by the way," she offered, holding her hand out to the girl. Humans were always so open with their names it would have been suspicious not to give one. "I know you aren't from around here, but do you know of somewhere we could stay the night?"
Post by Blair Von Drake / Red on Sept 30, 2012 1:40:34 GMT -5
"Well, I suppose logically the best place to stay would be a hotel or a motel, if you have that sort of money. I think I saw one a couple of blocks back, I could walk with you there if you wanted." she offered, noticing the slight change in attitude when she replied. Almost as if she was purposefully trying to keep her face hidden. But what reason could she have to hide her face from someone who was a complete stranger?
Ever since discovering the truth about supernatural beings, Red had been more alert when it came to small tell-tale signs, such as keeping distant and unsocial. She couldn't help but wonder if there was something...off, about this woman. She was keeping quite secretive after all, which was a little unusual. Perhaps she was an inhuman too, but such a conclusion couldn't be reached unless she saw her fully, and with her clothing obscuring her figure, there was no way to be certain.
"Oh! My name is Red. Well actually, it's Blair, but everyone I know just calls me Red." she replied, shaking the woman's hand lightly. She remembered getting the nickname first when she was little, because her hair had been much more vibrant back then. However with time, it had dulled out into a more blondish red, but her nickname had still remained. She didn't mind being called Red, she actually preferred it over her more formal-sounding name.

Sylviidae smiled under the cover of her hood, ensuring that the girl could not see it. This was turning out perfectly, perhaps she would have some entertainment before she went shopping. If the girl was particularly amusing she might even be allowed to live, maybe. "I do have some money," she replied, voice shaking with nerves. "do you have someplace to stay also? I would be more than happy to put us both up for the night if you show me to this motel."
Sylviidae noticed a shadowy figure over the shoulder of Red, some mugger or street thug seemed to have taken an interest in them. Her first reaction was to go for the pistol holstered on her upper thigh, or one of the knives sitting opposite it. Her body tensed momentarily before she remembered who she was with, and the act she was putting on. Instead she reached out with her mind into the brick of the building next to the man, forming the material into sturdy chains.
A dozen chains made of brick flew from the wall, wrapping around the man and squeezing the breath from him before he could scream. Bones began to fracture as they tightened, barbs coming from the chains to gouge into his flesh. With a mere thought they slammed the man into the wall as they vanished back into the brick, leaving him bleeding and unconscious in the alley. His knife clattered to the ground loudly.
Knowing Red would notice something Sylviidae put a look of disgust on her face. "Drunks, can't even make their way home without passing out in some alley." she lied, noticing that the brief struggle had left few signs. He was bleeding rather badly and would likely die in a few minutes, but his black clothes were hiding it well so far.

"Thank you for your offer. I don't have a place to stay, but I'm afraid I have other obligations to leave the city tonight." she replied, though started to wonder if heading back to her destination was really such a good idea, especially at this time of night. Without Ancaladar, she could easily fall prey to whoever or whatever lurked the streets at night. He would worry, but she would rather be late than not show at all.
"Then again, it may be best for me to wait until morning to head out. The motel isn't far away anyways." she added, hearing the struggle from within the alley. She looked sideways over to the source of the sound, but as quickly as it started, it had subsided. The woman's quick observation made Red try to look harder, but found that she herself could barely see anything. So how could she come to such a quick conclusion?
With the strange feeling of anxiety getting worse, the pair soon found the motel within sight, Red hastening her pace. The sooner they got inside, the better. "Well this is it. It's not much, but it's certainly much better than spending the night outside." she replied, noticing the Vacancy sign still lit up, signalling that rooms were still available.

Sylviidae began to get a little suspicious. What sort of human had business outside of the city at this time of night, and was planning to walk there? She did know that many supernaturals had other forms of transportation however. More and more she was beginning to think that there was more to this girl than it appeared there was. "I would certainly appreciate the company." she replied with a nod, not having to fake the pleasant smile on her face. Of course the expression was actually caused by thoughts of her hunger and desire both potentially being satiated for a while, but Red didn't need to know that.
Sylviidae looked over the shabby motel as they reached it, not overly disappointed. She had stayed in worse over the years, mostly because of her own conscience. She hated ruining higher end places with blood and gore, but these kinds of motels she didn't mind ruining at all. "Well let's go get a room then."
The bell chimed as she and Red walked into the office of the motel, surprised to find that someone was still there. It must be one of those twenty four hour places. "Hello," Sylviidae greeted pleasantly, noticing the way the balding man's eyes traveled over her figure and Red's. "we need a room for the night."
A lewd smile accompanied the realization that the two attractive girls were only meaning to get one room. "I gotcha." the middle aged man replied, leaning forward on his desk with a lewd smile. "That'll be twenty bucks. Unless you ladies would like some company, then I am sure that I could comp you the room." he winked, the gesture turning Sylviidae's stomach. She had pretty lax standards she knew, but this guy was way out of his league.

Entering the motel, Red saw that the place was a little run down, likely not seeing many visitors with the more high scale hotels in the vicinity. With paint peeling in a few places, and one of the lights flickering violently, it definitely felt seedy. However Sylvia seemed comfortable with the location, so there was no turning back now.
Red couldn't help but frown at the man's attempt, simply shaking her head. "I think we'll just go for the cash option." she responded, wondering what the man was thinking with his suggestion. And he was the owner of this place, he should have been the last person to make such a suggestion.
She couldn't help but wonder if this was a mistake. She was beginning to second guess her choice to stay for the night, especially with the strong uneasy feeling she had since running into this woman. "Are you sure you need me to stick around still?" she questioned, choosing her own well being over her curiosity.

Sylviidae leaned in close to Red and whispered in her ear. "You wouldn't leave men alone in a room that this creeper has the keys to, would you?" she asked, feigning fear while trying to keep an amused smile from her face. He really was disgusting, but she would have welcomed it were she alone. Inviting him to the room where she could tear him apart would have been delicious, but alas she had a facade to keep up.
Turning back to the sleazy motel owner she put a disgusted look on her face, a look she didn't have to fake. "I agree." she said simply, throwing the proper amount of cash on the desk and grabbing one of the keys hanging on the wall. Not even waiting for him to reply she turned and strode out of the office, the door slamming behind her.
Glancing at the key she had taken she began looking for room six. It was on the end of the row which was lucky. They would only have one neighbor to irritate them all night. "This is it." she said, flashing Red a smile as she unlocked the door and went inside.

There was something in Sylvia's voice that was all too convincing, making her forget the fear she had about spending the night in this dump of a motel. Following her along the hallway, she soon snapped out of the strange trance she had been embraced by, finding herself walking along the hallway toward their room at the end. Blinking a few times, she wondered what had just happened, finding herself a little concerned.
Inside they would find two single-sized beds, made in a seemingly rushed pace. Across from them was a dresser, a small television bolted down to the furnature. It was apparent that things seemed to be stolen here often To the right of their door was a little bathroom, complete with a shower, toilet, and leaky sink. The wallpaper in this room was peeling, just as the paint had been in the lobby. To top things off, the room was freezing, with no apparent heating to keep occupants comfortable.
"I suppose this is what you get for only twenty bucks..." Red noted with a frown, doubting the sheets were even clean as they stepped inside. She sat down on one of the beds, finding the mattress to be quite firm and uncomfortable. "Well... I guess we should turn in for the night, I've got an early morning tomorrow anyways." Not that she would sleep at all, her anxiety finally showing through her cheerful demeanor.
Post by Sylviidae Mallai on Sept 30, 2012 15:47:14 GMT -5
Sylviidae was barely paying the girl any attention, trying to decide where to go from here. They were safe enough and Red seemed to not suspect a thing, but if they truly went to sleep there was no way the disguise was going to hold up. The shirt covering her wings would slip aside easily, and her tail was likely to sneak out at some point to. The succubus sighed, realizing that there had only ever been one reasonable outcome to their interaction. The girl would not be able to help her with her shopping after all.
But before she killed Red she was a bit curious. "What is this business that you were insistent on?" she asked casually, glancing over one shoulder. "Is it the same reason you are going to be leaving early tomorrow?" Sylviidae had lied enough to tell that the girl had been hiding something, and she wanted to know everything she could about her victim before moving in. It would be most unpleasant to attack her to find she was a supernatural more powerful than Syl.
Syl leaned forward on the dresser, Turning the TV on for some background noise. It was harder for people to eavesdrop if they had to sort voices out from the ones on the television as well. Unknow to the succubus however there was a tear in her dress that split it halfway up the back. Her tail waved back and forth in this slash, and part of the shirt had fallen away from her wings.

"I'm just supposed to be meeting someone to leave the city." Red responded again, watching the woman carefully as she turned on the tv, not seeming to care what channel she chose. Besides, even if she was to tell her the truth, what were the odds of her believing the story, if she was a Human that is. The story of needing to met a dragon outside of the city would not likely be believed.
However that was when she spotted the tear that revealed part of her wing, followed by the lashing tail behind her. That was when she realized her suspicions were not misplaced. The woman was indeed inhuman, and a demon at that. Unable to help but let out a small gasp, she was quick to back away toward the door. Fumbling through her pocket in search of her pocket knife, Red wanted to keep it in her grasp, should the woman try anything on her.
Of course her actions were likely stereotypical, but she couldn't help it when the woman was somehow able to fill her with fear without trying. "Now I have a question for you... You're not a human, are you?" she asked, the last part of the sentence in a somewhat accusatory tone.

Sylviidae swore under her breath, no longer bothering to hide anything as she spun towards the door. Chains formed within the wood of the floor and flew upwards, all twelve lengths blocking the door and curling towards Red. Barbs sprouted from their many lengths, but Syl kept the chains from simply ripping the girl apart for now. She slowly reached up, drawing back her hood to reveal the two horns curling down from her head to eye level. Her greens eyes flashed evilly as she smiled at the girl.
"No, I am what is generally referred to as a succubus." she replied cheerfully, walking slowly towards the trapped woman. Flexing her wings she threw off the makeshift cover, the tattered shirt falling to the ground. Her tail lashed back and forth openly in excitement as the demon stopped just a foot away from Red. "It sounds like you know more than a human should about not being human," she said with a smile. "a mortal would be far more surprised and unwilling to believe her eyes. Are you even human yourself Red?"
The chains moved slightly, curling down and gently caressing Red's shoulders. Sylviidae allowed a single barb to scrape her, tearing her shirt and drawing just the slightest amount of blood.
