Sol shook his head slightly, which was awkward since he was laying down. [glow=red,2,300]"Im not tired. I barely ever have to sleep. You take the bed, Ill keep the fire going."[/glow] He told her. Sol had alot to think about. He had officially taken on more responsibility than he had in years.
After the recent revelations about Chaos' childhood and at least two members of her family Sol began to think back about his own. He had been the thirdborn son of his father and of little consequence. The only one of his siblings he ever spent time with was his brother. Sol had grown to trust him over time and had paid deeply for it. He had tried to kill Sol in his sleep. Sol shook his head slightly. He hated the unpleasant memories that occasionally haunted him. He had hated his family. Everyone. He had been nothing to anyone from the very begining and had only survived castration, due to his small size, because he was a red.
Sol stood to place a few more logs on the fire to help take his mind off of his memories that so often left him in a rage. He looked over at Chaos and asked [glow=red,2,300]"Are going to go to bed now or are you going to stay up a bit later?"[/glow]
"Is this all!?"The young demon screamed to the heavens"Is this all I am!? Chaos saw Sol shake his head. Well her eyes were getting a bit more heavy. Even though she had probably slept for hours stuck in that hallucination, she couldn't have felt more exhausted. She stood making her way to the small bed. She layed down not even bothering to move the blankets. She closed her eyes and rolled onto her stomach, sighing as she sunk into the bed. God, she needed this. Concrete and dirt did not do it for her. She couldn't move her head so her voice sounded muffle as she spoke to Sol.
"I'm just gonna lay down for minute. I shouldn't be too long..." Even as Chaos spoke she was sinking deeper and deeper into the blissful world of sleep. She didn't even think about the nightmares she had been having for the past couple of weeks, she was too tired.
She should've considered them if only for a moment.
Chaos was running. It wasn't clear why she was running. Well- never mind- it was. She was terrified. What wasn't clear was why she was terrified. Besides the fact that she was pretty powerful herself- no matter how close she was to falling- Sol had just recently promised to take care of her. She scanned the forest in front of her for any signs of him. None. She didn't see a break in the forest either.
Chaos heard footsteps treading lightly behind her and picked up her pace. Fear lodged itself in her throat as she pushed branches out of her way. Her arms and legs were pretty scratched up. She tried to release her wings, but it was like she was bound. It was like her wings had been stripped. She gasped at the notion. Being bound to earth, being bound to being something no one wanted to be. Not an angel, not human. A fallen.
She ran faster, her legs aching and her feet cut up and bleeding. She finally saw a break in the forest. She was just at the edge when a hand caught her arm. A voice whispered in her ear and a shiver slid down her back.
"And the cat catches the mouse"
She elbowed the person in the stomach and broke through the trees. Immediately she tried to skid to a stop, but it was too late. Chaos toppled off the edge of a cliff and into the ocean.
Chaos flew up. Her breathing was heavy and her heart was going 1000 miles per minute. She was covered in a light sheen of sweat. She felt the bed beneath her shaking fingertips and sighed. She fell back against the pillows. That was intense.

Sol shifted into a comfortable position on his back with his hands folded behind his head and his feet facing the fire. There wasnt much for him to do but wait for Chaos to wake up. His eyes stared into the flames as they danced about the fireplace, bobbing and weaving as though alive. Sol closed his eyes and turned them inward, figuratively speaking of course.
He turned inward to the inferno that raged within him. It was hungry and Sol could almost hear it whispering to him, making suggestions. It was hungry, and Sol knew it. He could feel that it would be so easy to feed it. Just a little, it whispered, just enough to sate us. Sol grinned, Right, you say just a little bit now but we've been through this before. You wont stop asking untill i feed you the world, or die trying.
Sol stayed in that position for a few hours untill Chaos woke breathing heavily and her heart beating so fast it was like a drum in Sol's ears. He stood and walked over to her. She shook a little before falling back against the pillows. [glow=red,2,300]"Whats wrong?" [/glow]Sol asked. It looked as though she had had a nightmare, though what about he knew not.

Chaos opened her eyes, looking up at Sol. He asked her what's wrong. She contemplated telling him. She mentally shook her head. She had laid enough on him to last a lifetime. She gave him a half-hearted smile, despite the fear still coursing through her veins.
"Just a bad dream. Everyone gets them, No big deal." She spoke lightly. Well, as lightly as she could. However, she could still feel that iron grip on her arm and a voice in her ear.
"And the cat catches the mouse"
What was that supposed to mean. Chaos knew the game, cat chasing after the mouse, she'd done it enough times. However, how did that apply to her? Who was chasing after her? As far as she knows, she's not running from anything or anybody. Maybe it was just one of those interpretive dreams. She was probably trying to tell herself to stop running from some internal problem. She shrugged it off. She glanced over to the fireplace.
"I thought you were gonna keep the fire going, not try and burn the place down. That's a little too much, don't you think?" Chaos smirked at Sol and nodded towards the fire.
It was, well it reminded her of a beast trying to break out of a cage. The flames were a little too high. To add on they kept licking at the chain metal of the fireplace cover, as if trying to burn the metal. Honestly it made Chaos a little uneasy. She gave Sol a questioning look as if to ask him if he did that.

Sol nodded and accepted her answer although it had seemed to be a little more than just a bad dream. Her heart rate hadnt yet returned to normal and the half-hearted smile she showed him seemed to be almost in sharp contrast with the explanation she had given him. But if she wished to keep some things private then he would respect that and not bother her about it. Sol shrugged and said [glow=red,2,300]"If you say so."[/glow]
When she mentioned the fireplace Sol glanced towards it. He smiled and gave a helpless little chuckle, like the kind parents make when children act immaturely and its out of their hands.
[glow=red,2,300]"It takes a lot of mental effort to keep the passions within my mind seperate from the part of me that controls fire. Sometimes I slip up a bit."[/glow] That was all the explanation Sol offered.
With that said, Sol waved his hand and the fire went down a little and no longer appeared as if it were a beast struggling to get free and gorge itself on all the little delecacies it was denied.

Chaos was grateful that he let her explanation slip. However, when he gave her his explanation, the corner of her mouth quirked up. The way Sol had worded it was almost poetic. She sat up, not feeling at all tired anymore. She glanced at the fire place again and watched as the fire slowly died down to a gentle burn. She supposed everyone was entitled to their slip-ups. After all, who was she to deny with at the skeletons just waiting to burst out of her closet. She turned her thoughts back to Sol.
"Passions within your mind, huh? You speak as if you're not alone up in there." She spoke with a tease in her voice.
Her eyes were locked in a mental battle with the fire. It was like her eyes were resting, except it seemed as if the fire was looking back at her. Hypnotizing, almost. She could stare at it forever. Chaos felt like she could stare at a lot of simple things for the rest of her life. Watching the snow fall, looking out a window to stare as lightening shot across the sky in a thunderstorm, watching the wind sway the leaves at the tops of trees. She liked simple things. Probably because her life was so complicated. Reluctantly she pulled her eyes away from the fire and up at Sol.

Sol shrugged at what she said. The question sounded rhetorical but he decided to answer it anyway. [glow=red,2,300]"Are any of us truly alone within the confines of our own mind?"[/glow] He stated more than asked.
[glow=red,2,300]"I have met gods and even mere people who can strip the thoughts from your brain as if they were merely reading a book and tearing out pages."[/glow] He told her.
Chaos stared at the fire for a while and shifted her eyes from it to the snow falling outside, the lightning crackling across the sky, and the rustling of the leaves. Sol look outside also. He never truly enjoyed destroying beautiful things such as nature but he considered cities unnatural in a way. Stone taken from where the gods put it and people crammed together in a way dreams were never meant to be confined.
That was why his curse hurt him more than it should. Sol admired nature for it was powerful. He did not wish to dwell on such things as his own misery. He hated the way a part of him wanted to pity himself. It was disgusting so when Chaos asked him another question, he answered.
[glow=red,2,300]"I wouldnt say fire is my specialty. Its more like a part of me, a part that is as natural to this world as anything else is."[/glow] Sol cocked his head slightly in the way he did sometimes [glow=red,2,300]"What about you, do you have anything you specialise in or are good at?"[/glow]

"If we're never truly alone, then I hope that whoever's with me is on my side. If half of my thoughts got back to the archangels, I don't even think they would bother making me a fallen. My...my people do enjoy the ancient ways." Chaos said and she thought about it. Alone? What did it really mean? And like Sol said, where we ever truly?
She listened as Sol answered her question. Part of him, huh? Must be nice. Fire was warm and free. It was harder then most to contain. Despite its will to destroy everything in its way, it had its charms. She smiled at the thought of being bound to fire. However, when Sol asked her about her abilities, her whole body went ridged. A face flashed in her mind; a kind, beautiful smiling face. Misunderstood, but so much life. And the after effects of her mistakes; they nearly killed her. She smelled the blood from her hand before she felt it. Her hands were balled up tightly and fine nails sliced her palm. She shook her head at the memory.
"Deception at it worse, and at the cost of an innocent mind." Chaos whispered to herself. She slowly released her hands and wiped the blood off on her jeans; it smudged. She looked up at Sol, she didn't smile, but she wouldn't reveal either. "Everyone has a specialty, you of all people should know that. However, some specialties are put in the hands of the wrong people. In my case, it's more like I'm cursed. I've made a lot of mistakes in my short lifespan, but out of all of them..." She shook her head and pushed him out of her mind. "I can phase. Passing through walls is a minor ability, not very special, but useful at times. I lost the key to my house months ago." She replied chuckling a little bit.
"Have you ever done something stupid like that? Just something completely silly? Once I fed my friends goldfish basil instead of fish food. The bottles looked alike and I didn't bother to read." She said smiling a small smile at the memory.
Post by Solemn Creed on Feb 8, 2012 22:53:10 GMT -5
Sol nodded his agreement. Anyone powerful enough to hurt him with ease was someone he would prefer to have as a friend rather than as an enemy.
After Sol asked Chaos about her specialties she seemed to lock up. Her form went rigid and her eyes seemed as if she was not looking at her surroundings, not truly, but was instead veiwing some memory and from her body language Sol could guess that it was a bad one.
Sol heard her whisper to herself and he wondered what she meant by it. She told him that she veiwed her specialty as a curse and Sol tilted his head slightly. [glow=red,2,300]"Is any advantage given to one truly a curse? Is it that bad?"[/glow] he asked her.
When she went on to tell him about how she could phase he was confused for a split second before coming to the logical thought that she must have multiple abilities and that the phasing one wasnt what she was ashamed of.
[glow=red,2,300]"Yes, i have. I woke up once with a hangover and became extremely frustrated because I couldnt fit my feet into my boots." [/glow]Sol laughed a little [glow=red,2,300]"I ended up setting an entire apartment building on fire before i realised i was trying to put the on backwards."[/glow]

Chaos laughed at Sol's story. That did seem like something silly he would've done. She wished she could've been the fly on that wall...although maybe she would have flown out the window after the fire started. She was a little surprised that Sol would do anything silly. He was very serious about himself, except when he was teasing her with arrogance.
When Sol questioned her about being cursed. She flopped back on the bed, throwing an arm to cover her eyes as if it would someone keep her from seeing that memory. She shook her head slowly.
"Not me. Mine was meant to hurt. Kinda ironic being an angel and all." She said laughing a humorless laugh. Her voice broke. She swallowed back tears. "Even if it did though, even if it could save all the people in the world, I wouldn't have it. The second they told me- the moment I- he was so nice and-" She turned away so Sol wouldn't see her tears. She took a stuttering breath and spoke more calmly. "The second he paid for my mistakes, that was the last time I ever listened to them. I despise liars. They ruined my life. Not that it matters. I deserve every bit of misery I get. His life though- his mind- that's what's matters. Not day goes by where I don't think of what I did." She said with anger lacing her words. She regretted everything.
She chewed on the end of her long sleeve shirt, a very bad childhood habit, and didn't speak for minutes. She wanted to tell Sol, after all he should know what he's protecting. He should know the extent of her mistakes. But...she couldn't tell him. She didn't want him to look at her in that light. She hated eating her words. A lie by omission was still a lie.
"Forgive me this one time, as I don't wish to reopen those wounds. No matter how much better it would probably be for me -after all its logical to admit your mistakes and deal with them up front, I just can't unbury that. I don't want to be looked at differently because of that. That one mistake. I feel like you have a right to know, protecting me and all, but if we could just leave that one memory deep in the recesses of my mind, I would be so eternally grateful." She said and quickly added, "Anything else you wish to know, is free game though."

Sol smiled when she laughed. She certaintly seemed like she could use a good chuckle after recent events. Everyone could use a decent laugh every now and then, if only to take their minds off of the troubles the world brings to them daily.
Sol was secretive about himself. He had nearly perfected the technique of telling a lie without actually lieing to someone. All he had to do was throw in a bit of false bolstered by a bit of truth, enough to make it believable, and he could get nearly anyone to believe what he told them. Mind readers also found it difficult to read him because he wasnt just one mind but many, and they all beleived differently to some degree.
But as he stood there next to Chaos he didnt feel like telling her any mistruths. It was as if he could take a break from his troubles. Forget the fractured glass with pieces breaking off every day that was his mind. Its not like he had to worry about her telling anyone. She seemed trustworthy enough.
It seemed that his question about her ability she veiwed as a curse upset her. As usual he decided not to press the matter. Everyone deserved their secrets.
Sol thought for a moment before replying [glow=red,2,300]"There isnt much I really want to know. You have already told me alot and from your dislike of the truth i feel I can trust the image of yourself that you have shown me."[/glow] he told her honestly.
[glow=red,2,300]"Since you have told me so much is there anything you would ask of me?"[/glow] Sol had just given her a free pass to at least three secrets. Just to make things interesting. When most people learned of his past they either hated him, feared him, or both. He was curious to see how she would react.

Chaos shot him a smile at his answer. He was right. She could never lie about who she was. She was an angel who was walking a very fine line between staying one or falling. She wasn't the most perfect being in the world. She had made mistakes...some worse than other. However, all she could do now was be as honest and loyal as she could. Satisfied with herself she returned back to Sol just in time to hear his offer.
Anything she'd like to ask. What didn't she want to ask? Chaos admitted that she was very curious about this demon. He held no prejudice and was very honest, yet he seemed to be disappointed with himself. She couldn't fathom a reason why, then again, she didn't know anything about him. Chaos decided to start off with what she thought of as an easy question. No reason to scare him away just yet.
"Tell me about you. What makes you, you? What goes on in that mind of yours? Chaos asked with a look of curiosity.

Sol felt glad when he saw that her demeanor appeared to have lightened. That was good. Heavy hearts sink sooner than light ones, or those who give up lose all chance of survival in this most cruel world where an open mind could take you far or bury you.
Sol smiled and laughed [glow=red,2,300]"My experiences make most of me, Chaos."[/glow] He told her "[glow=red,2,300]Much goes on in here,"[/glow] he tapped the side of his head [glow=red,2,300]"Too much to tell about in this short time. Try to file the questions down to be a bit more precise."[/glow] He advised her.
Sol had never told anyone his life story. It was unlikely that there was even anyone left alive in the world who remembered his origins, or had at least even heard about his home even if the information was not connected to him when they learned it.

Chaos smiled. That was the first time he had said her name since he asked for it. A lot of people avoided saying it, feeling as if they would actually bring chaos into their lives. She had laughed at the thought many times. Precise, huh? Guess she was gonna have to start with, in her point of view, a hard question. She chose her words carefully.
"Everybody has had something happen to them. It's usually bad, but sometimes its good. That one things is what they spin their whole being around. That one moment changed everything. It made them less trustworthy, unloving, heartless, forgiving, loving, happy, sad, angry, etc. And because of that experience, they base their whole view of the world off of it. It usually involves someone special or close to you. What's yours and how did it change you? She asked the question quietly, not wanting to step on any toes. She added quickly after that. The length of it doesn't matter. Long or short, I want to know. I don't care if it takes months to tell me the whole thing. I've got time."
Chaos was very specific with this question. It was the most important one you could ask someone. This experience and how they felt defined their being to the very core. It was their story. People felt that telling the time from when you were born up until you reach this very day was their story. True, it was their story. But it wasn't their story. It didn't give them their purpose in life, or lack of purpose. It didn't make them cynical or happier than anyone else. And that's what she wanted to know about Sol. She just hoped she trusted her enough to tell her.
Post by Solemn Creed on Feb 9, 2012 0:41:22 GMT -5
Sol nodded to indicate that her re worded question was specific enough for him to answer. It was also one he always wasnted to say to others but refrained from it. After all, knowledge is power and the more you know about someone the more power you have over them. Sol was not fond of being at the mercy of anyone.
[glow=red,2,300]"I would have to say that the experience that shaped who i am more than any others would be when my entire family was killed. The entire society we lived in was wiped out in one night." Sol told her without the slightest trace of emotion in his voice.
"My home, if one could call the place i resided such a thing, was on the outskirts of the town or city. It is difficult to remember the exact size of the place. I only know that there were alot of us."
"Because of my unfortunate, or fortunate in hindsight, location I was one of the very first to be attacked. Luckily they attempted to burn me alive in my own home and I survived."[/glow]
Sol looked at Chaos to see how she was absorbing this information so far.
