Chaos wiped at the dried tears. She didn't like the feeling against her skin. She glanced at Sol. "What could be worse than betraying someone who trusted you? Excuse me if I seem a little angsty over it, but I'm not sure what could possibly supersede that? However, please clue me in." Though said any other way then she did, the words sounded catty, she was dead serious.
What was worse than what she had did? And why was Sol so indifferent saying so when she clearly was in pieces over what she had done. It angered her, that mask of his. A real feeling every once in a while would help. She bared her soul to him, yet he couldn't return the favor? She shook her head and laughed a humorless laugh. Somehow, she felt betrayed. Though she might have been looking for someone to take her feelings out on, she just couldn't help but feel she didn't really know Sol. Not the real Solemn Creed.
"Sometimes I think that you just...never mind. It doesn't matter. About consumption though, I was consumed by my darkness a long time ago. I'm still trying to break free."

Sol thought about her question. Well, he didnt really have to think about it because as soon as he had told it to her, the memory had come to mind. He wanted to tell her but he did not feel it was something he could quite explain in a rational way. [glow=red,2,300]"There are many things worse than the betrayal of a friend. i would like to tell you what it is i did exactly but im afraid your entire veiw of me would change."[/glow] What Sol had done could be considered horrible or rightious depending on who heard his story. From what he knew about Chaos so far he believed that she would be disgusted with him if she knew so he resolved not to tell her. Whenever Sol thought about it he felt an emotion that could only be described as disgust.
Disgust because he could not help but think about it every so often and because he knew that his actions had not been justified. [glow=red,2,300]"You have to break free. Life is not worth living underneath the shadow of past deeds."[/glow]

The look Chaos gave Sol was one of betrayal. She turned over on the bed to face away from him. How dare he? She just told him the worst thing she had ever done. She had told him something very few people were privy to. If this got out, her whole life could be ruined. If word got out about how she felt to wards the archangels, her life would be gone. She knew that what she had done changed how everyone looked at her, even Sol. He hadn't taken it as bad, but he couldn't possibly think what she had done was okay. She told him anyways. She had thrown caution to the wind and placed her life in Sol's hands. Yet, he could not do the same for her. It was like laughing in her face and looking down on her.
"I understand." The blatant lie tasted horrible on her tongue. Her voice was empty. "I hate people looking at me differently. I like them to look at me. I like them to judge me on how I am now, not who I was before. If you think that I wouldn't be able to look beyond what you've done, it's okay. I haven't told people what I've done for the same reason." Except you She thought to herself.
Chaos hadn't been completely lying. She was actually quite honest with the second half of what she had said. However, it didn't lessen the blow any less. It wasn't fair, but then again life isn't fair. She trusted him not to look at her different, but he couldn't do the same. And she understood that in his eyes, whatever he had done had been something that she couldn't turn her eye from. Some secrets were meant to be kept just that; a secret. Some people can let things out, things that others can't do. Chaos closed her eyes in frustration as she tried to reason with herself. Reason was right, her feelings were not. She knew that reason was right, but her emotions still took the denied access into Sol's past as a physical blow.
"Sometimes emotions seem to surpass logic. However, when you feel that, it's only because you're thinking emotionally rather than logically about the situation. Push past your emotions and the truth is clear in front of you; even if it's not what you were hoping for." The words were whispered in her head and she gave a barely-there smile. Her mentor was not proud of her actions, but he accepted her nonetheless. When he died, a piece always remained with Chaos and got her through the worst of times.

The expression Sol saw upon Chaos' face was one of betrayal, something he had hoped to never view upon a friend. In a way, Sol had indeed betrayed her and he felt horrible about it. She had told him one of her most intimate memories and he had refused to share his own.
Sol turned his face away from Chaos even as she turned from him. He sighed but then aquired a determined look upon his face. After careful consideration Sol had decided to tell the story to her. Even though he knew she would probably hate him for it, if she did not already.
Sol looked back at Chaos. [glow=red,2,300]"Im sorry Chaos. If you would still hear me out, I will tell you my story, if you still wish to hear it. But first, i would like to answer your earlier question, the one pertaining as to why I moved us to our current location."[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]"But I will understand if you do not wish to talk to me. I will leave if that is what you would prefer."[/glow]

Chaos turned halfway at Sol's offer. She hadn't meant to pressure or emotionally manipulate him into telling her his story. She just wanted to know as much as he knew about her. She pushed her small guilt trip aside. He wouldn't have told her if he didn't want to, Sol wasn't one to fall into the hands of peer pressure.
Chaos turned fully over, this time staring at Sol's back. She was slightly excited at getting to know him just a little more. She also needed something to get her mind off of Giovanni. She had thought about him enough for today. However, she was slightly concerned. She didn't know much about Sol, including how he dealt with and faced his own past. She didn't know really what to expect. Would he be angry or sad? Would he be regretful? How did he deal with these feeling should they arise? There were so many difficult questions, that she couldn't answer. She was on guard.

Sol's face twitched as if trying to smile when Chaos had asked him the question again rather than asking him to leave. In all honesty he hadnt wanted to, but he would have respected her wishes if she had asked him to, but she hadnt.
Sol thought back to the day everything had changed. He and the voices communicated every other minute, thinking in almost complete sync. There had been relative peace within his horribly unstable mind.
[glow=red,2,300]"It all began one night when i was trying to decide on what to have for dinner. I was walking, eyeing my meal with great anticipation, when another demon stole it from me."[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]"I followed him and demanded he return it to me. He was a bit smaller than me, by about a foot or so i think, but he wasnt afraid to fight me to the death. Needless to say we became fast friends. After we nearly got into a colossal fight that would have ended thousands of lives, of course."[/glow] Sol paused to see how Chaos was taking in this information so far.

When he started Chaos listened intently, burning holes into his back. She vaguely wondered what he meant by dinner, but just reminded herself to ask later. She continued listening as he mentioned some friend and then a war. A war that would supposedly end thousands of lives. She was very surprised. She did also notice that he didn't give out the friends name. She was slightly curious.
"Did your friend have a name. You didn't mention one. Of course you don't have to mention a name, but it would be easier to follow along." Chaos didn't want Sol to feel compelled to tell her the name, but she did want him to trust her enough to confide in her.
While she waited for him to continue, she thought about the war he had mentioned. Thousands of lives gone? She would know about a war like that. She would also know if Sol had been involved. Hiding thousands of peoples deaths was a little hard, even with a good cover-up. And Sol's name would be everywhere. She would have heard of him by now. However, she hadn't. She was curious how this story would play out.

Sol turned to look at Chaos, noticing that he had her full attention. He smiled slightly, she seemed less angry and dissapointed/betrayed.
[glow=red,2,300]"His name was Belial. We decided to do what any two demons with homicidal tendencies and enormous power would do. We destroyed a small town here, part of New York there. You know normal stuff."[/glow] He paused in his story as he got to the unpleasant part. The part where he had a very unfortunate encounter with a certain god named Locutus Ferox. For reasons unknown, he decided to curse Sol.
[glow=red,2,300]"We ran into an, ahem, god who apparently is very fond of the rodents that live in cities. There was a misunderstanding of sorts."[/glow]

Sol turned around to face Chaos and he smiled slightly. She couldn't help, but think he should do it more often. It suited him, though he didn't seem to use the smile all that often. She turned her attention back to the story as he continued. Belial. The name sounded a bit familiar, but Chaos couldn't place it. Then again, maybe Belial was just a popular name. She decided not to worry about it.
Chaos frowned. She had heard about the New York explosion. Humans thought it was a terrorist attack, other beings thought it was amateur demons of mischievous spirits. Either way, no one was really all that concerned about it outside of the human world. Sol called it normal stuff. Chaos couldn't help but let out a small laugh at that. What he considered normal stuff and she considered normal stuff were so far off, it was funny.
Then Sol paused for a moment and continued on about a misunderstanding. He mentioned a god and Chaos felt her eyes widen. Messing with gods, or even getting on a god's bad side because of a misunderstanding could be fatal. However, it seemed this god had been benevolent enough to spare Sol. If the god wanted Sol, he would've found him. But, he didn't get off unscathed. Non one got off unscathed when gods were involved.
She waited for him to continue, deciding she had no questions. Well just one. "What god?"

Sol frowned when she asked him the name of the god who had cursed him. He disliked thinking about him, it had been the one time in his life where he had felt truly helpless with the knowlege that he could have been disintigrated in a heartbeat.
[glow=red,2,300]"His name was Locutus Ferox, God of Nature. He wouldnt tell me the specifics of why he was there, even though i asked him several times, he just kept going on about consequences and lives lost and stuff."[/glow]
Sol shrugged, he honestly hadnt seen the problem with his actions. In his mind Locutus had just showed up for no reason, maybe because he was bored or something.
[glow=red,2,300]"Anyways, the curse had some unconventional side effects. Apparently now my blood tastes of the sweetest nectar and bugs and other such creatures can smell it. Naturally they like to gather up in swarms and attack my delicious self. I usually kill them or I just flee to the far north when it happens, to get away."[/glow]
Finally finished Sol blinked, and only then did he realize that he had not done so during the entire tale.
[glow=red,2,300]"Now you know why I took us to Canada. It is cold here and I could spare the time to rescue you from your dreamworld hallucination thing without being eaten alive while i slept. I also had the time to speak to you, something i probably wouldnt have been able to do in Paris."[/glow]

Chaos was actually very surprised. Getting cursed by a god wasn't a very common event. Gods were mostly to busy to actually have communication or any sort on interaction with other being. And when they did, it was usually so much more than just a petty, albeit dangerous curse. So the fact that Sol had been cursed by god of nature, well that was a little interesting. As he explained more about the curse, Chaos could help, but let out a small laugh. She looked up at him giving Sol an apologetic smile.
"It's not that it's funny, however, it is an interesting way to curse someone. It's not out right malicious, but it's definitely dangerous. It kind of affects your every location decision." Chaos said thinking how it was an especially smart curse, but as long as he watched his location, not a very dangerous one.
Sol finished by telling Chaos that that's why they were in Canada and how it was easier to save her in her dream-like state. She realized how much she had come to be okay with saying that. She would usually die before mentioning anyone saving her besides herself. People helping you meant owing them favors and Chaos was not particularly fond of forced favors. Sol continued saying that he could not have been able to talk to her in Paris.

Sol blinked, this time in surprise. Hadnt he just said that he had moved them from Paris to Canada because of his curse? Of course he had but that didnt matter because obviously he would have to repeat himself.
[glow=red,2,300]"Shortly after you fell unconcious I heard a strange buzzing sound that usually brings a swarm of insects shortly thereafter. So I picked you up and carried you here. In all honesty I could have left you but I really wanted to speak with you."[/glow]
Sol thought for a moment about her comment. [glow=red,2,300]"Yes, it is inconvienient to the extreme when it comes to choosing my locations. I cant even go home to Detroit because of this thing. Its really annoying."[/glow]

This time it was Chaos's turn to look surprised. He had wanted to speak with her? He knew nothing about her back then. "What reason could you have for wanting to talk to me; we didn't know each other. You don't seem like the type to talk to strangers." Chaos said raising an eyebrow.
The corner of her mouth quirked up. Detroit, huh? No wonder he was used to the snow. That was pretty north, apparently not north enough. Unlike him, Chaos didn't even know where she was born. Her clan tended to be a little nomadic. She had lived in various places across the world and never really had a 'home'. She felt bad for Sol though, not being able to go home. She wondered what that felt like. To have some place to return to. She wondered if people were waiting for him there.
Post by Solemn Creed on Feb 18, 2012 0:03:39 GMT -5
The expression of surprise on Chaos' face made Sol tilt his head in an inquisitive way, a dog like gesture that he could not remember where or when he had picked up.
Sol shrugged. [glow=red,2,300]"You looked interesting and turned out to be at the time. I was having a boring day walking through Paris when I saw you. Im not completely sure what it was exactly, but you seemed interesting. When you were attacked I felt obligated to step in and give you some assisstance."[/glow]
Sol sighed slightly. He was homesick. He missed his home. Sol hadnt been home for months and he missed the things that he felt made living there worthwhile. The large population full of people. The ineptitude of the police department that made it so easy for someone to go missing and never be found. The chill mornings and the short summers. Sol had been away for too long.

Chaos laughed. A genuine laugh. She covered her mouth with one hand while her body shook with laughter. After a while she took a breath, still smiling. "That was probably one of the most simple excuses I've ever heard. It was so far from what I had been thinking at the time. I had myself convinced that you were looking for a heroic moment and I had just been the perfect set-up. I feel a bit silly now." Chaos said as she layed on her back and stared at the ceiling. Simplicity is bliss.
She stared at the blank ceiling for a moment and heard a sigh come from her companion. She turned her head to look at him. She recognized the face of longing and took a wild guess. he was missing home. When was the last time he was there?Obviously not for a while. She wondered what it was like.
"What's it like? Having a permanent place, that is. Is it boring or warm? Are there people waiting for you? What's it like to go home and just know you belong there? That feeling, that one microscopic feeling, is probably the best ones; to know you belong somewhere and you always will. That's the only feeling I'll never truly know." Chaos spoke with a sad smile though she wasn't looking for pity. She wanted to know more about Sol's home. "What's Detroit like?"
