Atalaya was in the woods. Fire surrounded her in a circle, fire of her own creation. She was fighting, but she wasn't fighting anyone, no she was practicing her skills, for she felt that something was going to happen soon, and she wanted to be ready for it. It seemed that life threatening circumstances arouse that threatened her life, almost always after a calming period in her life where everything was going right for her.
This was one of those calm periods. So, Atalaya was practicing, so she would be ready, for whatever came for her. She had a feeling it might bring about her end, but she was hoping that wouldn't be the case.
A final burst of flame came from her fist. She caught her breath then wiped her brow, clearing it of the sweat gathered there. "Well that was a workout." She murmured to herself. She slowed her heartbeat and the circle of flames disappeared except for one, which she gathered into her palm to light her way out of the woods. She started walking in the direction she had come from before she was in her backyard. "Home sweet, home." A sigh escaped her lips.

Adam Sat in the tree tops as he watched her, the sight of his mask focused on the flame as just a small glimmer reflects off of it. He had been traveling these woods for a while now but something caught his gaze. A fire, not a forest fire, a controlled one that fluxuated. So he climbed and got closer. He saw the whole display as he just watched. His guns were holstered in his jacket. Four on his chest and two on his back. His black jacket was more trench coat as of late and dangled ever so slightly from the branch. Combat boots adorned his feet as they matched his black jeans. Skull mask made of obsidian armored his face as a wrap covered his neck. The hood draped over and fluttered ever so gently in the wind. A compact spear rests in the center of his back between the two guns. He stayed, just.... watching.
Silently he shifted his weight to one side as he quickly lept to the next branch.
CRACK
He jumped to another branch with that crack. The woman might catch just the tail of his jacket as he landed on the next tree in his jump.

Atalaya whirled around when she heard the crack of a branch. She knew it. Something was about to happen, and her moment of rest was over. The flame in her hand went out, cloaking her and the night back into darkness. She wrapped her black hair up, wrapping it into a bun then using a hair tie to hold it in place. She removed her leather jacket and prepared for the worst.
Both hands suddenly spouted fire, bathing her backyard and nearly the whole forest in light, blinding anything and everything. "Come out, come out, wherever you are." She whispered, her teeth gritted in anger. "I'm ready for you, so why not make an appearance? Or are you too chicken?" She was really just talking to herself, but if the words carried far enough, anyone could hear them.

Adam's mask switched to blast shield as the fire suddenly blinded everything. He sunk back into the tree line as he observed. 'So she is an elemental and not a very careful one at that....' he thought to himself as he dropped down silently. A simple investigation turned into something more. Slowly and carefully he creeps out from the trees, the hood fluttering just ever so slightly to reveal the seemingly hollow eyes on his ebony mask. The jacket is custom made and looks very light but makes the man look broad and larger than his neck and legs indicate he might be. The boots clomp down as he plants his feet, just barely apart. No words, no movement he just stands there.
Adam is very still, oddly and slightly creepily still, just watching her to see what she does. Any action shall be repaid equally and he plans to not take it too far. Adam used to be full of words and chatter but it seems once he started to don the mask, his silence became who he was. The creepy, eerie, mask just stares at her. If the flames died down to the point where it was no longer blinding a soft mechanical sound MAY be heard if not drowned out and a small amount of reflection would come to the eyes.

Atalaya tensed when the figure came into view. She dimmed the fire in her palms, then gazed at the mysterious figure in front of her. She wasn't sure if it was a man or a woman, but the figure's gender didn't really concern her right now. The reason why it was here was her main priority. She need to know what it wanted with her.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" She asked, speaking just above a whisper. She studied the mysterious person, waiting for it to speak. She noticed its long jacket, more of a trench coat really, which could probably hide several weapons. Luckily, Atalaya always kept her own weapons at hand.
Not including her fire, she had several daggers on her person. One of was stuffed in each boot, and another on her inner thigh. Not to mention several of her bracelets twisted into daggers. And she had a decent right hook, or so she had been told.
Now all she was waiting for was the figure in front of her to speak. That was all she wanted. She could tell a lot from a person's voice, and if it didn't speak, she could always tell what it was thinking.

Slowly it takes in a deep breath and then exhales an answer,"I... Want.....Balance....." is all the man says in a deep guttural and mechanical voice. He stood there, motionless and silent once more, placing his arms behind his back and holding them there he straightens up his back. The wind blew his jacket ever so slightly as the hilts of guns can be seen adorning his chest as well as ammunition, rows and rows of it. The hilts are all black and seem to be made of the same material as the mask. Upon further examination his buttons and clasps and everything non fabric is ebony. This man liked black and it seemed to suit his lifestyle well.
Slowly he tilted his head toward her as he extends his hands in a slight bow. Still no words and no actions toward her. Adam was not himself in this outfit, While he wore the mask he thought of himself as someone else, someone who didn't have weaknesses to pretty faces or feelings. To him, putting on the mask made him feel like someone new, so for now he would just call reply to her with the same guttural voice, "I... am... the... Equalizer...."
(First phrase he spoke has the hyperlink to what the voice roughly sounds like)

Atalaya flinched when he spoke, startled. His voice was like nothing she had ever heard before and she wasn't sure how to handle her reaction to him. She could also see his weapons, several guns in fact, strapped to his chest. His ammo was nearby, but unlike her, she knew he would eventually run out. This was one point towards her side, but she didn't know all of his abilities and whether or not if he was human or supernatural.
When he bowed to her, she nodded her head towards him, not wanting to let her guard down for too long. She still didn't trust this figure in front of her, having known to many untrustworthy people in her lifetime. She only trusted a couple people, both of which hadn't seen her in a while.
When he spoke next, she tilted her head to the side, and narrowed her eyes. "And who is....the Equalizer? And what is out of balance?" Her voice may have been steady, but there was fear in her eyes. She wasn't sure if she was going to live through the night, and she really wanted to.
(That.....was......creepily awesome. It scared me because I wasn't expecting it to play)

Adam spoke with the same, eerie, guttural noise. "I am he... and it is the mask... While I may be someone else without such a mask... the current state I am in deems, me, he... Now for balance you say, I do not know... I have not viewed enough to decided to know, if you've tipped the scales in any one way" He spoke with rhythm as if he didn't try. Obviously this was the first sign of madness or maybe he did it on purpose. Regardless he made no effort to start first blood yet he also made no effort to leave just yet. It would appear that he made no movements except to compensate for her own. No words were spoken unless she spoke to him first. It was as if this man was forming balance within the interaction be it purposeful or if just force of habit.
The man's head tilts to the side as he waits for her response. Still he was ready for an attack at any moment. Usually people don't like being caught exploiting their abilities nor do they enjoy having their homes found. Further more Adam sounded like a mad man with his rhymes. So... he just waited, if she did nothing he would slowly and carefully take a step closer.

Atalaya realized she was dealing with a man who was not himself at the moment. He said it had something to do with the mask, but she didn't think she should remove it, for fear of being attacked, and she defiantly didn't want that.
Her hands, which were raised to fight, lowered slowly to her sides. She didn't want to provoke him if he wasn't looking for a fight in the first place, but she still wasn't sure about his intentions. As long as he didn't attack her, she didn't really care what he did as long as he left her alone.
Her already tense muscles forced her to move a step back when he took a step forward. The clenched fists at her side were the only sign that she was uncomfortable. "If you would please stay a safe distance away from me for the time being. At least until I know your intentions."

Adam said nothing as he took one more step this time to the side. He did however mimic her lowering of her hands with his own notion of not looking to fight. After that step he took another, And then another.
Adam was fully aware of the situation and his appearance. He took on a different identity when he put on the mask and sometimes got carried away. This was one of those cases. He took on the insanity he pushed back but maybe this was his balance. With sanity comes insanity yet regardless he simply wanted to see how far he could push this woman and manipulate the situation. Right now he is seeing if he can get her to back away from her door or to simply get close to her. While fire is a pain, his cloths would not burn for long if at all. Alchemy gifted him with the ability to make things lighter and tougher and so he made clothing into flame retardant armor.
While it was not an answer to her statement, he felt the speech deserved a response. "Do you believe in Varos, my dear?" he mechanically sputtered out.

Atalaya flinched with each step he took, but eventually forced herself not to move. Fires sprouted up, circling the two. She wasn't doing it on purpose, but her subconsciousness was controlling them for her. She attempted to extinguish them, but every time she tried, they only returned.
When the man in the mask asked her if she believed in Varos, she paused before answering. "I believe in all the Gods, but I do not worship any of them. I am aware they are there, but I do not pray to any God at the moment. Why?" She paused again. "Are you trying to get me to worship her or something?"

Adam notices the flames and then her desire to control them. 'good' he thought. He was interested in what she was because he rarely dealt with elementals. At least alive elementals. "So you understand the teachings of Varos... Correct?" he asks with his tone. Cold words devoid of emotion what so ever.
Adam was excited, he would not do her any harm if she did not strike the first blow. However he knew that she was fighting for control and afraid, he wanted that. Fear is what drives people to act rashly and if they can stand in the face of fear and control themselves then they have balance within their mind. Slowly he walked up to her. One more step, closer, closer, and closer, and closer. Till he was simply a foot away from her if she didn't strike him yet. Adam would simply extend his hand to her, no words. His palm was up and his jet black gloves seemed to connect under his jacket. If she took his hand he would gracefully bow while lifting her hand up. Bending with one foot behind the other.

Atalaya shook her head in response to what he said. "Not really. I have a vague understanding of each of the Gods, not an intimate one." She watched him, waiting for something.
When he started walking closer, the fires around them grew higher, but she tamped them down again, until they were barley smolders. It seemed the more she conversed with the creature, the more control she had. She was still afraid, but she was controlling both it and her fires. As he held out his hand, she fought within herself. The rational side of her mind, the one that didn't trust anyone, was telling her to kill him right there, but the other side of her mind, the one that sensed something about this man, wanted her to take his hand.
Atalaya paused, for a few minutes it seemed like, before she made he decision. Reaching her hand out, she laid her palm in his.

Adam bows graciously to her in the proper manner that a gentleman asks for a dance. He is quick and swift as he tries to pull her into a waltz. He was very quick and agile in his manner as he pulled her close to his body. He would attempt to start dancing but would not force her but he started to speak. "Varos is the Goddess of Balance and harmony, Every action deserves an equal action.... Fear leads to Chaos... Chaos leads to disorder... disorder leads to violence... and Violence leads to me...." His words rang even if she did not dance with him for he danced the waltz regardless. "I enjoy balance and one who is control of their fear and can control themselves but still acknowledges their fears and weakness can be balanced by their own doing..." When the tune in his head and the words from his mouth stop, so does he.
Slowly he would let her go or face her one way or another. "You're afraid yet you control yourself... you practice restraint and even take my hand when everythin' in you calls for my blood... You are not a threat to the balance of the world..... for now....I hope you stay that way...." Adam would bow once more and unless he was stopped he would turn and start to leave just as he came.

Atalaya allowed herself to be pulled against him. When he started dancing the waltz, she recognized the steps and completed them. When he spoke, she listened, truly intrigued with what he was saying. It was obvious he worshiped this Goddess Varos, for he spoke of balance. When he stopped, so did she, for she was that in tune with him movements.
When he said she wasn't a threat to the balance of the world yet, she kind of smiled, for she was glad. She didn't need a Goddess trying to kill her after all. She then watched him walk away, no longer wanting to fight him, for she didn't think he would attack unless provoked and she defiantly didn't want that.
