Adam shrugs as his mouth was full of food. Chewing on it, not just the food but also the words, for a bit he finally takes a sip and nods. "Understandable...." one more shrug before he states. "Thanks...." no jokes or what not in his tone just an apathetic word. Adam's normal gaze is not there but instead one somewhat close to Rennia's apathetic tone.
The food is good and how fast the plate is cleared attests to that fact. No words were really shared after that, Adam had decided to shut himself down slightly. He felt hurt to fall into his weakness when he got with ciel only to be caught and then called someone else's name. The words of Varos in the forest as well as what transpired because of his actions in canada also weighed heavily on his heart. Finally the torture and words of the deamoness pushed him to the limit. Adam was done, this new awakening to the true world sucked and he would lock away his old self. If she spoke he would look at her with the same look she constantly gave him. Otherwise it would be a silent meal with a soft smile to the waitress when she came asking if they need anything else and when dropping off the bill.

Rennia watched the man shatter before her. She didn't need to know what he was thinking to see it happen. She'd seen it happen too many times. It was a shame really. She'd hoped for more from him. Yet again she found a human who failed to live up to the bar she had set after meeting him. The man seemed to have more potential than most, and she'd given him the benefit of the doubt. However, it seemed it just took a little bit longer than most. Rennia's gaze became both distant and almost..disappointed as she looked over at him. She give a faint sigh and shook her head.
She quietly went back to eating her meal, letting the deafening silence surround them. The sound of forks on plates and the general buzz of a truck stop was the only thing that served to fill the gap around their otherwise mute meal.
When the bill came, Rennia stood up and handed the girl a 50 for the bill and a twenty for a tip, telling her to tell them to keep the change. The woman gave Rennia a few blinks but wanders off to the desk to hand the 50 over. Rennia would take a couple steps towards the door before stopping. Without looking at the man, she spoke something softly. "Remember what I said about smelling the roses Mister Helviath." Afterward she would continue to the door whether he followed or not. There she would walk along to the side of the building and just stand there, watching cars go by on the highway.

Adam sat in silence, more silence, and even more silence. Rage builds up in him but then it vanishes when rennia pays for the food. What the hell is wrong with him that he seemed to bring out so much betrayal, hatred, and harm to or from those he associates with. When she walked out he followed without saying a word but a simple smile to the waitress. "Have a good one hun." he chimes as he follows out.
He notices her standing there as he pulls out his cig and smokes it with a green glow. "Not fun dealin' with someone always apathetic and devoid of emotion... huh?" He is copying the woman's personality quite well as the words gave way to a hint of spite. He was hurt and shattered but he still felt. Some of his emotions were fighting his lock down. Even if he pushed them out of his consciousness they were still there and they were thriving.
"Now am I gonna get a ride back or are you too disappointed in me and my tool that I have to walk..." his gaze toward her now more spiteful and full of sass, a fierceness in his eyes not matching his apathetic face.

Rennia stood outside gazing at the passing vehicles as Adam came out, she didn't bother looking over at the man as he came over towards her. Those red eyes trailed along with vehicle after vehicle. When he finally opened his mouth, Rennia decided not to hold back this time. She gave out a soft cackle and shook her head. "You just don't know when to shut the fuck up do you? You think you have it all figured out, and it used to be cute, it really did, but like your self pity, you just sound like a really fucking broken piece of shit. Grow the fuck up Adam. Oh wah, it's so hard to deal with an apathetic person. Really? No one else I know has that problem, not even Ciel. You remember Ciel don't you? I have no problem dealing with apathetic people. What you're doing is just disappointing me. Instead of taking criticism and manning the fuck up, you just shut down and go back into your pitying self-loathing. It's really quite pathetic really."
She shook her head as his poor attempt to take her approach at life failed miserably. It was an amusing mockery of her normally care free nature that was given off by a man who thought he understood the world already. Hell, not even Rennia was that arrogant as to believe she had seen everything. Even after a thousand years had gone by, there were still things about this world that surprised her every day... and she was appreciative of that. "Rocks and trees erode and snap. Water may evaporate but it'll rain back down and it can never be truly broken or even crushed. Something to consider."
Rennia shook her head again and gave a dismissive wave at the man before she walked back towards her car. She wanted more than anything to leave the man here and let him figure out how to get his truck back, but she wasn't sure she would do that. It would mean he would need to come back to the shop at some other point when she might not have been around. That wasn't exactly her vision of a good idea. She'd walk over to the door and unlock it before settling down inside of it. There she would buckle herself up and quickly start the car, waiting with her gaze firmly locked forward for Adam to get in.

Adam thought back to his mother, but quickly got rid of that thought because that was an excuse. While he shut down, he still did hear the woman's words in the diner. He was selfish and an asshole he knew, he was everything she said and he hated it. He was tired of hearing it not for the fact he thought she was wrong but because he knew she was right. It slowly started to turn in his head as he sat there in the car on the way back to the garage. Thought was something he rarely got lost in and so the words. "Thank you" coming out after almost half of the trip back were a shock to him. Once again his mouth moved at the very first thought that reached his lips.
He looked back toward the front of the car because he was looking out the window for the most part. "I hear your words... and I understand them... just feelin' defiant and kind of the 'fuck you' mentality... Regardless of whatever transpires after this... I'll take your wisdom and reflect on it... so for that... I Thank you..." Adam seemed to have the tendency to get heated up and a switch flipped in him. She saw this back before when he got over aggressive in the bar and needed to storm out."Just a little hard bein' called a tool... somethin' for someone else to use and throw away...I over reacted...." He didn't apologize because he believed her not to give rats ass, he just felt he needed to say those words. Either way Adam was serious in his words and did not speak again unless spoken to.

She pulled out roughly. She was careful not to be too rough as to damage her car, but not enough not to be rough on Adam. She then pushed it into first and and took off, causing the front end to lift off the ground for a split second before coming back down. She turned off onto the frontage road and then back onto the highway. The car rolled up to the light that wasn't far off and came to another rough stop. Then it went into another hard take off, causing the car to roar as it did a short wheelie before accelerating to 50 miles an hour. Thankfully the highway patrol was next to non-existent as they'd likely have gotten her for expedition driving.
The rest of the two and a half hour drive would prove to be entirely uneventful. Until Adam spoke the entire ride would be silent with the exception of the wind from Rennia's partially opened window and the rumble of the engine. The stereo was off, and would likely remain so. If turned on by Adam, she'd immediately shut it back off and go back to driving.
By now it was fully dark and the sparse lighting in the city left most of the city dim. After they got out of the city, the world would be plummeted into darkness. The headlights lit up a good portion of the road ahead of the car, and the dash lights somewhat lit up Rennia, albeit barely. The rest of the vehicle was utterly dark. Rennia also didn't bother turning up the heater, making it rather cool in the dark hours of the evening, even if it was summer. This left for a long, dark, cold, quiet ride back when he wasn't speaking.
She didn't bother replying to what he said, or even taking her eyes off the road to look at him. She merely just followed the road that was almost entirely devoid of traffic with a few exceptions. Some time later they crossed over the damn across the large lake, and some time after that they would turn onto the road that lead to the shop, which was decently illuminated.
Rennia slowly took the vehicle down that road until she'd pull up into the shop parking lot. Rennia mused with a perked brow at the light that was on inside the shop, wondering to herself who would still be at it in these late hours. She didn't figure any of the normal crew to be working so late unless they were on a particular roll. That left only a few options, and only one or two of them good. She filed it away as something to look into later, and gave a gentle sigh before shutting the car off and unbuckling her seat belt. With little delay she opened the door and stepped out, stretching from the lengthy drive and taking the time to gaze up at the lights above the shop, marveling at the insect activity they generated.

Adam wasn't bothered by the cold car ride, he loved it actually, his jacket was big and thick as well as quite warm. He let the silence linger and embrace the atmosphere of the ride. When he got no response to his statement he just let it sit, accepting the silence as words heard but not answered. He was just thankful she didn't leave him ditched there because that two and a half hour car ride of length would of sucked to walk.
One thing he did when they stopped and got out was to take out his electronic cigaratte and smoke a few puffs. He originally brought it out in the car but decided against using it, he noticed the look previously on the joy filled ride up that he decided he didn't want to get thrown out of the car at sixty plus.
Adam also noticed the lights as he spoke to the air around him, "Damn... hard workers..." the words were aimed at no one and just simply a statement he spoke. Taking a long drag and then holding the black stick in his fingers he looks at it. The car ride of silence had been long and given him time to think. "Past means shit and I just have to choose how I'm goin' to behave and act...." his words were a statement, he decided not to speak at her just yet but he did say it loud enough for her to hear if need be. Adam decided to walk into the lit shop. If he was able to walk in he would put a sealed envelop on the desk that read 'My favorite mechanics'. He had picked up the card some point after Canada and decided to swing by the shop to drop it off. If he couldn't get in he would simply leave it pushed into the door. "Today I start my life." he chuckles this time toward Rennia as he starts to head toward the bed of his truck to get something.
The card if opened was a simple card, the cover had a small cartoon with one mechanic talking to a customer. They were over looking the open hood of a car as the mechanic spoke in a word bubble. "If it keeps making that noise, try turning up the radio." It was simple but comical. The card seemed to be custom made from one of those shitty shops that also make custom T-shirts. Inside was a printed "Thank you" followed by a few scribbled words. "Thank you for all your hard work, I love the truck and all the words we've shared. Your idiotic friend, Adam Alexander Helviath."

Rennia looked toward the shop again and gave a slow reply that indicated she was probably musing about the statement made. "Yeah... hard workers." It almost sounded as if she was skeptical of that being what it was but she shook it off and wandered towards the door. As she heard Adam's next statement she chuckled and shook her head. "The past counts for many things, but it should never be an excuse. Forgive your enemies but never forget their names... or something like that. How you behave and act is up to you... need to decide what's important to you."
She proceeded into the shop and tilted her head before giving a soft sigh. Kristen was inside the work area working on a 70s era Corvette. She was underneath, working on removing parts from the front suspension to replace them. It was clear she was in the process of completely overhauling the car in question given the array of new and old parts scattered across the area. Rennia couldn't help but smirk and shake her head at the woman in the shop knowing full well what she was up to.
Afterward she looked over at the desk that Adam had placed the card upon. She walked over to it and picked it up before following him outside. She carefully ripped the side open before pulling the card from within. She looked at the front of the card and shook her head with a small chuckle. The faint laugh actually drew a smile from the daemoness, possibly one of a few firsts for the man! She then opened it up and read the inside. She perked a brow and looked up at the man. "Least you're honest, Mister Helviath. But at least you have the chance to fix it. I suggest taking it."
She closed the card up and slipped it back inside the envelope before walking out into the parking lot to gaze up at the stars. She took a deep breath as she let her mind wander. It wandered over the man's strange antics and it lingered on the sight of Kristen within the shop working on that Corvette. After a few moments Rennia would gaze over to Adam, wondering what he was fishing out of his truck.

He laughed at the comment as he seemed to return to his normal self if only slightly. When followed he didn't mind as he dug around in the back of the truck. Pulling out what looked like a small circle he tossed it to Rennia. The metal thing might be recognizable as it appeared to come off the back of a '67 stingray much like her own. It was black inside the circle with the corvette logo in the center. Adam smiled with a nod as he went to get back into his driver seat. Unless for some reason he was stopped he'd simply pull back out and go down the street to the bar they went to last time he was in town.
Adam had been traveling for a while in his truck and done many jobs, One such job took him to a salvage heap that had trucks, cars, and tractors galore. The case was not that he killed someone with a stingray and only took the cap off the back, it was more of the individual who hired him had a junk yard. In that yard was different things that pickers would love. Adam simply saw the cap hanging on a wall and picked it up and took it as payment. Eventually he knew he'd have to visit them again and kept it in the back. In all honesty he forgot about it until he got out of rennia's car when they got back and he saw it on her car.

The daemoness looked down at the object with a perked brow. It was followed by a chuckle as she instantly recognized what it was. She inwardly wondered where he had managed to come across one, but figured he had found it possibly in a salvage yard. Too many of those wonderful cars had ended up destroyed or otherwise made inoperable, finding themselves in one of those locations.
Still she would offer him a soft smile, polite if nothing else, as she wrapped her hand around it. She would have to find some place to put it in the shop where they had space and where it could be seen. Rennia looked up and watched him get back into his truck, not bothering to stop him to even say goodbye. She would merely watch him silently as he drove off down the road. Rennia would then look back down at the emblem and shrug as she wandered back into the shop.
Inside the shop she would wander over to Kristen, ducking down until she was level with the other woman. She would hold out both emblem and card for her to take as the woman pulled herself out from under the 'vette. The girl seemed somewhat surprised to see Rennia there, blinking for a moment before she spoke. "Oh hey! I didn't expect you to be back tonight." Rennia would offer a smile and chuckled softly. "Adam came by and we went to have a chat. We just got back from a little road trip." Kristen blinked and looked towards the door. "And he didn't stop in to say hi?" Rennia offered a shrug. "Not sure he was in the mood after the beating I gave him. He left these though."
Rennia paused and looked up at the Corvette. "I thought I told you no." Kristen rolled her eyes and chuckled. "I thought I told you I don't care. I'm doing it so what are you going to do? Say no again and be mean?" Rennia gave a sigh at the woman's antics and reached up to ruffle her hair. "Give me a few and I'll be back over." With that she would wander over to the office and find her shop clothing before wandering back over. Once there she would begin working on the beast with Kristen until the two of them called it quits for the night.

Adam walks into the bar as the bartender looks him over not once but twice and suddenly shakes her head. She remembered him from the last time he was there and tried to steal from the dead bodies. "Whiskey please." he chimes in as he sets some money down. She shrugs and then smiles pouring him the drink as she looks toward the door as if to wonder who else was with him.
Slowly he walks over to the table in the corner, it is open and so he takes his spot against the wall. Many thoughts and words flow through his head as he sits there and contemplates every single one. Thankfully for him the kitchen is still open and taking last orders as he places one in for a pizza. Simple cheese as to not piss them off. Patiently he waits as he orders a few more drinks, and then a few more. When his pizza arrives he already has a stack of about eight straight up whiskeys just resting there. He told the waitress to not take him just so he could keep a tab and watch himself but upon eating half the pizza and being at ten it almost seemed as if a trophy.
