Bad to the Bone by George Thorogood and the Destroyers
description:;
Never an inch skin to be seen, Absol keeps himself completely covered with his biker gear. Even if one were to peal back those layers, they would first find a body completely wrapped in bandages. Except for the face, where they would find a rather charred looking skull. When suspicions are aroused he oft explains that he has burns over most of his body and does not like to show his scars. If one were to peel back the bandages and get down to the naked reaper underneath it all, one would find a greyed skeleton with a few tattoo like etchings on some of his larger bones. Certain etchings pulse a light arcane blue whenever he uses a corresponding power.
Absol rather dislikes having to remain hidden at all times, especially as the free spirit he is. He enjoys his freedom and loathes to see it taken from him or anyone else. While he is often a thief, he will not stand for injustice, and will not take from those who it will do such to. If a wealthy man has a collection of vehicles, he has no problem relieving him of one, but if it is a working families only transportation, there it will remain regardless of how dire his need for transportation is.

background:;
Absol was born in 1854, a time when the conflict between the European settlers and the Native Americans provided a decent source of food for Absol’s small community of reapers in Texas. Absol was kept from interacting with the humans, they were seen as naïve and violent creatures who served better as food than as companions. This was clearly demonstrated to Absol in 1861 when Little Absol was introduced to his first major war with the American Civil War, taught how to feed for himself and the benefits of the wars of men for reapers. He watched as thousands of men killed thousands of other men, and he found the advice of his community sage. They appeared as omens on the battlefield, and carried away many of the dead after battles, where they would feast on their marrow. At the end of the civil war, Absol parted from his community and began following bloodshed around the globe, witnessing some of the most horrific moments in human history.
Despite following the events he never interfered, a fact that now haunts him. In 1914, Absol was already in Europe following the second Balkan war. He watched as an entire continent ripped itself apart. Meanwhile he was fat and happy. It was during this time that he gained his first bone etchings, arcane symbols that were still passed down in the supernatural community in Europe at the time. They allowed him to tap into innate talents that allowed him to have control over metal, and made his life a bit easier. He was able to redirect at least some of the bullets that came his way as he traversed the edges of the battlefield, taking away some of the bodies to make a meal of. He spent his time refining his new abilities and over the decades between the First World War and the Second became quite adept at their use. He even acquired the second etching that further enhanced his ability to tap into his powers, allowing him to even change the atomic structure of the metal, manipulating it from one element to another. There was plenty of bloodshed in Europe in those decades, so he still found himself there when the Second World War began.
World War II was the first in which Absol began to grow weary. In his travels he came across one of the Nazi internment camps. What he witnessed there left him shaken. He had infiltrated the camp as they had piles of corpses with marrow just ripe for the taking. He was seen by some of the prisoners, “Azrael” they called out, pleading even, welcoming him as death. Something awoke in Absol, a compassion for humans that had been dormant his whole life. He wanted to save them, but they had little more flesh than he. He left that camp changed. He left the camp that night and started heading east, and wouldn’t stop until he hit the Himalayan Mountains.
Few can understand just how impressive the Himalayans are, it is a massive mountain range that spreads across an entire continent. Traversing those mountains on foot was quite an ordeal. Ancient paths through the mountains eventually found Absol in Tibet. He had started his trip through the mountains with a rather large supply of food; he needed little else as a reaper. He arrived on the other side near starved to death, ice caked on his bones. The villagers he encountered feared him a monster, and summoned the monks to deal with him. Luckily, he was not the first of his kind they had encountered, and their previous encounters had gone well. The monks took him in and provided him with food, it wasn’t human, but it was still marrow, and while not as delicious, it still provided some sustenance to the weary reaper.
Absol was only going to stay long enough to recover, but one of the monks who spoke broken English started a conversation with Absol one day. It was a conversation that would go on for several years and change the way that Absol looked at the world. He never converted to Buddhism; neither did he join the monastery, what he did come to realize was that the compassion within himself would not allow him to sit idly by while men killed each other. He could not be merely an observer when witnessing injustice. He had become something else, and could no longer be who he had been. They spoke of the gods and of enlightenment, of the tenets of Buddhism, and that one should not go against their nature. Absol took particular interest in the goddess Varos Talantos, a goddess of balance. She seemed like a goddess of justice, of righting what was wrong with the world. That was something that Absol was beginning to identify with. Absol went down from the mountains and into China where he would live until the Vietnam War. Before he went down, the monk he had spoken with so often for the past years gifted him another arcane symbol, a symbol that would help him as he sought balance in the world. The symbol refining abilities, and tapping further into his natural potential, he could now conjure chains to ensnare his foes. As his parting gift, he turned the monastery’s tarnished copper statue of Buddha into solid gold.
During his time in China, Absol tried to protect the downtrodden, the abused. His help was often unwanted, especially if they witnessed him helping. For nearly thirty years he lived like this. He grew attached to the people there, the government was none too fond of him, and he grew to actually enjoy their ire. If the Chinese government was trying to kill him, he knew he was doing his job right. With the onset of the Vietnam War, he set out to help. It was a war of ideals, it wasn’t over territory, and it wasn’t over resources. Absol soon found both sides just in their pursuits and both sides horrific in their methods. Absol took neither side and merely sought to keep the innocents out of harm’s way. A task that proved too much for the reaper, he would save a village one day only to find it razed, the people in it dead the next. Heartbroken, he began to kill soldiers on both sides, fighting his own personal war to protect those who wanted nothing of the conflict. When the war ended, he watched as northern soldiers went through the country and slaughtered those who had supported the south. He tried to help them flee by hindering the soldiers as they swept south. In the end thousands had died, thousands of innocents, many weighing on the reapers heart. He left Asia and managed to make his way back to the U.S., nearly a century had passed since he had stepped foot on American soil, but still it was nice to be back.
He has since acted much as he did in China, a vigilante seeking justice for those denied it, protecting the weak and the innocent, at least as he sees it. He holds no special love for his own kind, and will not hesitate to end anyone who manages to avoid justice. He has delivered several of Americas most wanted to justice, even if the world never knew it. He has also rescued its citizens from less obvious villains, those of supernatural origins. He has been hunted for killing humans despite the fact that he only kills vile individuals. More than one hunter has found himself in Absol’s chains while Absol made a hasty getaway.

Absol honors Varos Talantos, and seeks to provide balance in his own way, although it may not always be what the Goddess considers balance. Absol at one time or another has been at least somewhat fluent in the following languages: English, Greek, German, Tibetan, Chinese, Vietnamese. He hasn't spoken anything but english for quite some time, so they have fallen out of use, he would likely recognize them if spoken, and at least be able to pick up the general idea of what is being said, but he would be unlikely to be able to communicate anything but the most basic of concepts in anything but english and chinese. his extended time in china, and that time being more recent leave him slightly more proficient in it than the others. Absol Doesn't know it yet, but he wants to join the council, at this time, he does not know of its existence.
