"I was spear fishing a little ways off when the spores started to float through a few hours ago. It didn't take long for the stuff to... escalate, to where it is now." Henry said as they neared the entrance to the mine. Surprisingly, this area wasn't nearly as bad as it was down in the village. Partly due to the draft coming from within the cave itself, and partly due to the natural winds of the area. Were it not for the occasional spot of obvious infection, or the gaping hole in the side of the mountain surrounded by fences and industrial mining equipment, it might have been a nice picnicking spot.
"Here lie the gates to whatever hell spawned this atrocity," The elderly man spoke, "Whatever is inside of here must be destroyed, it must be stopped."
Almost as if on queue, a quiet rumble and the wailing voices of what must have once been the miners echoed from the mountain's new mouth. Steeling himself for the trials ahead, Henry tightened his grip on his harpoon and marched forward.

The trek through the spore infected village went with out incident for the most part; except for the time she nearly tripped into an Spore walker. If it weren't for Pan catching her, they would've been in much deeper trouble than they already were in. After what seemed like an eon of hiking and five water bottles later they had arrived at what must have been the mining site. It was evident by the massive hole carved into the side of the rock.
"Here lie the gates to whatever hell spawned this atrocity," Henry spoke, "Whatever is inside of here must be destroyed, it must be stopped." Which was followed by a chorus of wailing twisted voices;which chilled Linette to the bone. Never before had she heard such anguish in once place. She shot a side ways glance to Pan and smiled. "This can't be worse than a pack of silent deaths, right.....?" she laughed half heartedly. Stealing her nerves she followed Henry into the unknown abyss.
Henry had finally explained how he was the only one to get out of the area without being harmed, but he didn't actually explain a whole lot. The whole thing could very well be the truth, but Pandora wasn't a very trusting person.
Before long they had stopped their hike to the area where the problem had started from. "Whatever is inside here must be destroyed, it must be stopped." crazy old Henry said to the group. She would have no problems with the "destroying" part. She wondered if the people would return to normal if they did manage to remove all these spores. And when she thought about it, this could be the first time she decided to try and save lives instead of kill. All because she decided to follow Linette.
Her friend looked at her for reassurance and Pan nodded and felt like she had to smile back. She whispered to Linette "We've got a fat guy, a crazy old fart and a creeper on our side. This will be cake."

Marcus listened to Henry's story with intent. Any way this man survived would be very useful for Marcus. However, as the man began talking, Marcus noticed how he hadn't really escaped the spores. He was out in the waters, somewhere they could not reach him, and safe from any harm. Marcus had doubts that this man even knew that the situation was this bad. Although, Henry did manage to surprise Marcus with the timeframe it took for all hell to reign. A couple of hours?! Could spores stretch across the land in a couple of hours?! The daemon gave props to the man for immediately running for people on the beach, but wasn't this problem something an authoritative figure should handle? Like, maybe police or the Daemons of- Oh right. Marcus was a daemon of Rome, thus an authoritative figure.
The daemon sighed when everyone reached the mining site. Henry made a short monologued about the mine, then a sudden unison of wailing noises answered him. Marcus noticed how Henry tensed at the noise, then began to walk as though he was adventuring into hell. Marcus noted his bravery, and would be sure to tell everyone of his strength in the sudden face of adversity if he were to die. Once everyone began to walk, Marcus moved past them and began walking by Henry's side.
"I can sense when I'm about to die," Marcus told Henry as he strolled. "If anything bad is about to happen, then I will know. I'll give you a warning if I sense anything."

Ben cocked his head to the side slightly, observing the man with a curious expression on his face. Henry had gotten pretty damn lucky, if his story was entirely true. The portly individual just couldn't shake the unpleasant feeling that the man wasn't telling them everything, unfortunately. But whatever. Locke was probably just being paranoid. He had some fairly deep seated trust issues which was why he'd never revealed his true appearance or identity to anyone. That and he took great enjoyment in playing characters he found amusing, much like the one whose form he was in at the moment.
The creepy guy who'd been traveling with the group mentioned that he was able to sense danger and would warn them if anything cam to his attention. That sounded nice but Ben kept his weapon at the ready, prepared to use it if they were suddenly set upon by some nightmarish beastie.

Past the first few hundred meters into the cavernous mines, it was evident that without the musky haze of orange work lights there would be absolutely no light at all. Even with the high powered industrial devices, the clouds of spores and airborne fungi made the outside look like a paradise. Henry made sure to stop and call out every so often to make sure everyone was still sticking together and within eye shot, which was about five meters at this depth.
Slowly he guided his crew deeper and deeper into the winding shafts, until they came to the former workers' drill. It was still running under all of the things growing on it, but only barely. The bit itself had long stopped moving, deciding that it was easier to just stop than to struggle against the web of mold.
"Everyone still with us?" Henry spoke, taking a look around. Oddly enough there was no sign of any miners thus far, which worried the old man. There had also not been any sign of the local pets, or of the wildlife in the town. He had assumed they fled before, but now he was having second guesses.

The decent into the mines was slow and menotinous, and Lin's nerves were on edge the entire way down. As they delved deeper into the darkness it began to remind her of a science fiction movie Nate had talked her into watching. There were aliens, marines, and weird spider things that jumped onto your face. Linette was just waiting for a giant monster to jump out; however this time there was no blanket or nate to hide behind. "I'm never watching movies with Nate again..." she said quietly.
Henry's occasional group checks released some of her anxiety, but she still found it odd that they hadn't found anyone down here. "Im here captain" she spoke with a slight smile."Henry didn't you say this place was suppose to be full of miners?" she asked tentivley; looking around at the fungal infested walls for any signs of life. The only things she could make out were abandoned mining equipment and the part that she was traveling with.
She was sick of this stupid clunky "spacesuit" and wanted to get it over with. The group questioned about the miners and other little details. Although it was strange for everyone to be missing, it didn't change what they were there to do.
"Anything else important you think you should tell us? If it's only a supernatural behind this mess that will be easy enough to deal with." She was confident but it also hit her that if she had to stay in the suit for safety, she couldn't use her tiger shapeshift to fight. If she changed the suit would tear off her body and she'd be exposed to the spores. That is very inconvenient but luckily she had other ways to fight even though it was most enjoyable to slash things apart with her claws. She wondered if a brainless and almost zombie like spore monster would even feel the effects of her pain abilities.

Marcus did not enjoy this whatsoever. He didn't enjoy the spacesuit, and he most certainly did not enjoy walking into god-knows-what hell. The more he accompanied the poor diver suit sap, the more questions arose. The demon hated everything about this small adventure. If he could, he would walk away, get in that damn submarine, drive to the daemon's of Rome and persuade them to bomb the entire area.
What was down here anyways? What could four people possibly do that a whole mining group of people couldn't? His questions remained to himself, as will as his grouchy opinions, but every once in a while Marcus would let out a small and angry mumble.
Eventually, the group happened upon a drilling site. Marcus couldn't say much for it, but that it looked no different from the fungus infested wasteland outside. When Henry turned back to check if everyone was around, Marcus didn't answer. The man was close to Henry from the very beginning to make sure no harm befell the group, so of course he was still with Henry. Although, now that he was starting to become a little angry, he decided that the other's lives did not matter that much to him, and ended up in the middle of the group somehow.
The daemon kept himself quiet and observed what was going on before him.

Ben was being unusually quiet. It wasn't like him at all. But the sphinx disguised as a man, a very large, very fat man, had the most strangest sense of foreboding, as though his father had placed him in time out but, due to extenuating circumstances, he'd been forced to violate his timeout. Well, with that kind of behavior he could never expect to get off punishment. He would, if he was lucky, be grounded for the rest of his life for this little violation, even though he'd had little choice in the matter. Such was life.
Little seemed to be going on that was worth paying attention to, but Locke remained vigilant. They marched along in their spacesuits, waving their strange weapons about. Every now and then someone would ask a question but that didn't do much to liven things. At this point Ben was so bored that he really only just wanted this whole 'adventure' to end.
"I'm still here, Henry." Ben replied to the man's question. He wouldn't leave, even though he wanted to. The man had committed himself to this quest and he would not abandon it. Locke intended to see it through.

The lead man took a moment to look about, resting the butt of his harpoon amidst a particularly spongy part of the floor. He sighed, before speaking.
"Some of those men are here, among us now. A cave mine does not cultivate organic matter, at least not nearly enough for the growth that you see around us. The men who were fool enough to work here adorn the walls and floor of this place, in some measure. I have no doubt there will be more further in th-"
His voice cut out abruptly, his head turning and glancing about in the fluid darkness. A low grumble echoed from further inside, deeper inside of the fungal caverns.
"We must hurry, there is little time left. If we do not stop this soon, there will be no returning to your world."
Without any further deliberation, Henry lifted his weapon of choice and stepped onward. The heavy footfalls of boots were muffled by the organic layer of detritus layered atop the ground, and light was seemingly sucked out of the air by the ever shifting darkness.
Not even ten steps into his journey, the party's guide was swallowed up by the ground he stood on. A muffled cry followed as a fungal platform contracted, revealing a vast cavernous opening. Spot lamps and other sources of light would not be needed below, as phosphorescent flora wound about the area, and strangely glowing crystalline formations dotted the areas in between.
Another groan echoed from within the cavern, a great pillar shuddering at the center of the space. Distant cries and screams quickly followed, a scattered gunshot or two after that.

Ben stared curiously at the strange material on the walls. There wasn't much else to do as the made their way through, besides listen to Henry. The sphinx had to admit to himself that he was tempted to poke at it. It looked like it felt weird, if that makes sense. Of course, he realized that touching the strange stuff would most likely be ill advised and after seeing the creatures earlier Ben had absolutely no desire to risk infection or whatever. The very thought gave him goosebumps.
Tugging slightly at part of his suit as in creased in an uncomfortable way, the sphinx found himself tempted to ask Henry if they were nearly there yet but decided not to. Ben didn't know how sound might carry through the tunnels and it just didn't seem worth it. The other man seemed to speak when it was necessary and would likely inform him once they'd reached the desired destination.
Henry informed them that they needed to hurry before continuing on and Ben followed, tightening and loosening his grip on the weapon he'd been provided. He was feeling justifiably anxious about the entire situation. It all seemed very serious.
Anyways, they didn't get far before their guide was swallowed up into the ground, revealing a glowingish cavern. Shit! The sphinx swore to himself as he entered the cavern, eyes darting around as he looked for Henry, weapon readied. Ben began to fear that their journey might have finally come to an unfortunately unpleasant end. He prepared himself to teleport in the event that he couldn't find Henry and or some strange creature tried to eat his face.
