Once they were within sight of the compound, Gram set his pack down and removed a much smaller, far more portable satchel that he slung onto his back. From his pack, he began to set up a compact electronic device before hooking his smartphone up to it. Worried about the light, the young man didn't turn the screen on but he did press a button, activating it's function and disabling security cameras and such that might detect their approach and putting them on a loop.
After the mission was complete, he'd have to retrieve the device and his pack but for now he needed to stay light.
That done, all that was left was to fool the human security. That was where Kage and Gram's carbine would come in. The young man waved the other over to him. Once Kage was close enough, Nate would whisper the plan to him.
"Do you think you could slip past the sentries on the wall and take out the ones inside the compound? I've timed our strike so that those on the wall are the most tired and least alert. Focused on the desert, they shouldn't notice if those within the perimeter fall first. Then I will take care of those on the wall while you make your way inside and eliminate the four waiting for their shift inside the rec room."
Gram said this, but if Kage had a better plan the young man would need him to speak up.

Kage looked at the man as he spoke, hazel eyes bright behind his hood. He slowly reached in to his hood, and pulled a black cloth up and over his mouth and nose concealing his face except for his eyes. He was now a wraith, wrapped in darkness and shrouded in the night itself. He listened, then nodded slowly. He finally spoke for a moment, and partially concurred with the other male.
"I will slip through, if you can take those on the wall out. Or you could wait...I have a plan in action to knock out their communications, then cause mayhem in the base itself. We can either finish them off outside, or we can simply slip past them and finish them on the way out. Either way, the job will be completed and you will get what you wish."
He finished his exceptionally long speech, an unusual response from the male who was notorious for remaining silent. He simply sat there, waiting for the male to respond and decide upon the course of action he felt more comfortable with. Kage simply did not care, either way he would complete the mission. He appreciated the extra fire power and the man power, but even single handed he could have done this himself.

Gram listened silently as Kage told him his plan. It could work, but the young man felt it was too risky, considering that he wasn't the stealthiest of individuals. That and the thought of leaving nearly a dozen armed enemies at his back just didn't make him feel very comfortable with thought.
"I'm just a tech guy. I'm not confident in my ability to sneak past eight armed guards. If we're caught..." Nate left the last part unspoken. If they were caught, the base would go into lockdown and they'd be surrounded inside the compound by more than a dozen individuals armed with automatic weapons.
"If we kill them all as we go inside then we won't have to worry about getting pinned down on the way out when we have no where to go. I'm more comfortable with my plan but you're the professional so it's up to you but we need to move now if we don't want to get caught in the middle of the guard shift when they'll have twelve men outside instead of eight."

He nodded, comfortable with the fact the man knew his own place well. If the other felt he was not up to sneaking past the guards, that was all there was to it. He would continue to let his dragon move in, and take out their communications. They the dragon would throw confusion amidst them and simply act as a distraction as Kage and the techie moved in and finished they off. It did not really change anything in actuality. It would just be a bit more difficult to get inside the actual base itself with out the guys inside sealing themselves in. However that would be easily remedied as well, so Kage was not to worried about it.
He suddenly stood up, and began moving towards the base. He let his cloak flow behind him, not minding the noise it brought now. He moved towards the base, and pausing he pushed his hanbō that one end was in the sand and it stood up straight. He reached in to his pocket and pulled out a small metallic cylinder and and unscrewed the top and slid out three metal spikes. These spikes he turned around and quickly screwed the threaded ends in to the outside of the metal cylinder and soon had the end of his kaginawa. He then withdrew a eleven foot piece of parachute cord and tied it to the end of the grappling hook. With this he would be able to scale the wall with exceeding ease. He then drew the bow and waited, half crouched waiting for the first guard to appear on his round. He had picked this particular wall, for this particular guard for a particular reason.
The guard showed up, moving languidly walking along his round with out a true care in the world. Who would, in their right mind, attack this worthless base out in the middle of the desert, with only a handful of guards and really no apparent value other then a look out post more or less. The guard had been here for over five years. A cushy job really, simple and easy and well paid by the right people. In five years the man had never seen anybody but the other guards and people working here, then on his few R&R breaks he had seen the local bar and whores. That was it. A simple life, a simple job, and well paid to get drunk and laid on his breaks. So he was not really paying that much attention, when the jet black arrow slammed in to his throat, severing his trachea and a single carotid artery. The man was dead already, and his brain simply had not caught up to that fact as he fell to the floor, grabbing his throat as air and blood left his body around the opening created in his throat. He was drowning and asphyxiating at the same time, with out the ability to create any noise as his air was spilling from his lungs and throat.
A black, three spiked grappling hook flew up and over the wall, landing and with a sharp tug the spikes dug in to the floor and wall, wedging the object there tightly. The rope went slack, then went taunt again, and several seconds later Kage pulled himself up and over the edge of the wall bow slung over his back. He turned, and hoisting the cord up, lifted up his precious weapon that he could not carry and had tied to the bottom of the cord. Then he dropped the cord down to let the techie climb up if he needed to. Setting his weapon upon the ground, he pulled his bow from his back, and knocked another arrow, half drawing the weapon and eyes scanning to watch for the next guard. His body was tingling, adrenaline coursing through himself as he watched intently in case another guard showed up before the techie got up.

Kage moved, climbing the wall and killing one of the guards before Gram could make the base of the wall. While the grappling hook was pretty cool, it wasn't entirely necessary. The young man jumped up and caught the lip of the wall, pulling himself up and over all in one fluid movement.
Gram stayed on his stomach to keep make himself more difficult to see. The first guard on the wall had gone down quickly enough that none of the four guards watching the wall guards had seemed to notice. But if the remaining three wall guards began dropping before the inner guards, they'd most likely sound the alarm.
Bringing his weapon to bear, Gram waiting for Kage to make his next move. If he went after the other three wall sentries, the young man would attempt to take out the remaining inner guards before they could raise the alarm. If the other man went after the inner guards, Nate would quickly kill the remaining three wall sentries. That done, they could begin to move on the building.

Up in the dark black sky, Sturmgeist was flying around. He was making wide, sweeping circles pretty high up in the sky to avoid detection of the human beings far below him. His purple scales, although not black provided a pretty decent camouflage against the night sky. He was keeping an eye upon his human companion, his bond partner and friend and when they reached the wall he took action. Flying towards the base, he landed upon a large antenna area. Small claws scrambling for purchase against the smooth metal, Sturm finally got hold of the already cool metal. His head turned from side to side, eyeing the things around him before he slowly and carefully climbed down to the base of the antenna. Once there the little dragon moved between the four supporting metal poles for the antenna and to the central spot where all the wires went up and down. Crouching down, small belly pressed against the roof the little dragon focused upon a spot, and it's tail twitched as it concentrated. Contracting small muscles upon and with in it's cheeks, the dragonling opened it's mouth and a stream of corrosive green acid spurt forth. It struck the cables, coating them as the dragon swayed it's head from side to side. The stream died away, and Sturmgeist huffed softly and focused again. Another small stream sprayed forth, and Sturm moved to coat as much of the cables as thoroughly as possible.
When this stream petered out as well, Sturm nodded and huffed in a pleased sort of way. He was sure that would do the trick. Even if the antenna was not completely destroyed from that, it would definitely not be functioning properly if at all. With that objective completed, the small dragon turned away and ran towards the edge of the roof. Leaping off the roof, small wings unfurled and the dragon began to fly around, looking for the nearest person. Spotting a guard below, weapon across his chest in a ready but relaxed position, Sturmgeist suddenly vanished from view completely and began to circled over his head. Then with a sudden swoop he furled his wings and plunged towards the male guard. Opening his small mouth, the dragon contracted his venom sacs again and sprayed his venom at the guard. Aiming for the man's eyes, Sturmgeist suddenly unfurled his wings and tilted his body backwards just like an owl or hawk would. Extending his rear talons, he slammed in to the man's face and sank his talons in to the man's neck. Sharp claws tore through flesh and cartilage and Sturmgeist used it's momentum to fly over the man's shoulder and unfurling his wings he flew off in to the night.
The guard, blinded as the acidic venom burned away his eyesight and entered his blood stream fell upon the ground backwards. Knocked off balance by a sudden weight slamming in to his face, his throat torn out the guard screamed in agony, gurgling on flowing blood and screamed all the louder for the help of his fellow guards man. It did not matter though, the acidic venom, sprayed directly in to the eyes of the guard was already in his blood, enter through the thin membranes and being carried through out his body. It would be a slow and horrific death as the man's arteries, veins, capillaries, and heart where slowly eaten away by the acid and he hemorrhaged out internally. The man was dead, but was doing his job still, at least a job expected of him by other people.
The interior guardsmen came running to their downed companion's aid, and quickly called for the guards inside the building to come out and help them search the compound for the intruder whether it be somebody or some horrific as unknown creature in these lands. None of them though this was a person, the talon marks upon the man's neck clearly from some sort of beast and they where not sure what the slightly viscous green material was all over his face and in his eyes that was blinding. However nobody seemed all that inclined to touch whatever it was. Two of the guards began carrying the injured guardsman away, leaving one of the original and four new guard who where looking for some sort of creature in the darkness.
Kage knew exactly when to strike, because he was watching what was happening while at the same time keeping a close tab upon his dragon's mind. He could not see the wee little beastie, so assumed the dragon had used it's interesting ability to go invisible. He would let the dragon do whatever it needed to do for the moment, and work alone unless he had need of Sturmgeist. With everything in place, he tossed his hanbō to the ground below. He knew it would be alright and survive the fall just fine. He then waited, watching intently and slowly began drawing the bow back. He held it there, thumb against his cheek as he waited for his next target, which should be up upon the wall to his left. Sure enough, the commotion happening below drew out his target, and after a soft twang his black arrow burrowed in to the man's chest and dropped him to the ground.
Standing up, moved to the edge of the wall and leaning over it, swung down with his drawing hand and hung there for a moment before dropping to the ground below. He could have jumped down, but he was not about to risk an senseless injury when this was just as quick and easy. He looked up at the techie above him, and whispered out softly.
"Throw the guards pistol down to me....I suppose I should carry a back up just in case anything should happen." He despised using conventional weaponry, but he was not stupid. He knew that sometimes a firearm was simply more prudent to have. Power, range, and accuracy all compact in to a small form where extremely useful to have. So now they had two wall sentries, and five people upon the ground to worry about. None of them who would be expecting them but speed was still essential. With two wall sentries down, and an interior guard they would surely notice their wall guards where dropping like flies soon and the little charade Kage had set with Sturmgeist would be ruined. The guards would know there would other people inside the base, instead of some wild animal.

When a mortally injured guard began screaming in agony and calling for help, the young man did his very best to resist the urge to sigh and shake his head. Any amount of surprise they might have had was gone now, Gram knew. The alarm that began blaring nearly immediately only confirmed his suspicion.
Right now, the compound who were asleep would be waking up and arming themselves, preparing to repel an attack. And that was almost the least of their worries.
The vault would have gone into lockdown and the destruction of their communications system would appear as a red flag to their buddies. He just hoped that no one on the base was in possession of a sat phone. Otherwise, instead of a small investigative party coming to see what the issue was with the compounds communications system, they'd have a large group of reinforcements headed their way. If that was the case, then by the time Gram managed to crack the vault and retrieve the data they'd be trapped and surrounded by a lot of angry men with guns, the very thing he'd been trying to avoid. So much for subtlety.
Three guards were dead but they were certainly worse off. The guards knew they were under attack now and four had come from inside so there were nearly as many outside now as there had been originally. Meanwhile, those inside were most likely trying to get in touch with their buddies off base and were busy fortifying the building to foil the assault. Lovely.
Nate tossed the requested weapon to Kage before shouldering his rifle. With almost surgical precision, the young man set to work cutting down the guards on the inside. His aim was steady, his pulse hardly accelerated.
Seven. Six. Five. Four. Three. The remaining two wall guards collapsed at their posts, one tumbling over the wall, and three of the five inside the wall were down before they'd begun to realize they were taking fire. Suddenly so few, they panicked and began firing randomly into the night, none of their shots anywhere the young man's position, as they began to retreat towards the relative safety of the building.

Kage had not intended for the apparently trigger happy accompanying technician to begin firing his own weapon all over the place. The gun fire instantly alerted every single guard in the area that they where under attack, and even though they where not sure from where they all began firing. The technician had just endangered Kage's own life by his reckless actions, and he was not to thrilled about that. However he had to keep his attention upon the present, and in the fight right now. He moved swiftly, dodging from building to building making sure to check his corners to make sure he did not run face first in to a guard or right in front of their wildly fired bullets all over the place. He moved like a wraith, swirling among the shadows as he moved, and his right hand gripped his favored weapon with alight grip, ready to swing it as he needed the short quarterstaff like weapon.
He flanked around the guards as the other male picked them off slowly, and when the guards began to retreat it was already to late. Kage was beside them, and with a flick of his left wrist a black scorpion like black sliced through the air and buried need in to the first man's neck who appeared. He was the back of the retreating group, and before he could even gargle out a warning, Kage stepped forward and twirled his weapon and struck the man a blow across the side of the temple sending him sprawling out of the way. With a whirl, Kage's left hand grasped his weapon, and the depression of a button and a quick twist of his wrists the staff came apart revealing two blades hidden with in the weapon. He thrust both blades forward and upwards, slicing in to the sides of the guards who where turning to see why their friend had just fallen. He jerked his wrists upwards slicing through intestines, stomachs, and diaphragms so the tips of each blade sliced through the bottom of one lung of each guard. He would of preferred a cleaner kill, perhaps cutting their hearts but this was simply going to have to do the job.
He pulled his blades from the guts of the dead soldiers and as soon as they collapsed he kicked their weapons away in to the darkness. They where all but dead, however he did not want to take the chance one had just enough life in them to pull the trigger in the direction of his back. He he sighed, wiping the blades of his weapons off on their cloths to clean them slightly. It would not get them completely clean, but enough that he was not dripping blood and viscera all over the place. He then turned, and whistled softly. From a dark shadow, his purple dragon fluttered to him and landed upon his shoulder, wrapping it's tail around his arm to help balance in case Kage moved to rapidly.

With the building locked up tight, they were relatively safe for now. But not for long with back up on the way. Gram had to think fast. Or, at least, he would've had he not made preparations. The young man was a super genius, after all. He'd planned for such an eventuality, just in case. It irked him that one of his contingencies were even necessary but whatever. That was what they'd been created for.
Gram took out his trusty smartphone and typed in a few instructions. Miles away, they would be executed. Just a little delay he'd set up, in case the alarm was tripped and reinforcements were sent. It should buy them a few more minutes. The young man hefted the satchel onto his shoulder and trotted up to Kage.
"My apologies, but the alarm was tripped. I figured the fewer of them in there to deal with, the better. It'll be a pain in the ass to get inside now that they've gone into lockdown and extra dangerous since I'm sure it's all hands on deck in there. They are most likely fortifying and hunkering down to wait for reinforcements, reinforcements I've managed to delay but only just barely."
He didn't even bother chewing the other man out. Such an obvious attack! What the hell had he been thinking? This wasn't a movie where the bad guys would go to investigate their screaming buddy without bothering to alert everyone on base. If Kage hadn't realized where he'd screwed up, then a lecture on tactics from the 'tech guy' wasn't going to help.
The young man looked up at the roof. He had explosives.
"Clocks ticking. I have explosives that could make us a new door or be used for a diversion if you've a more silent method of entry. How do you want to crack this nut?"
Post by Kage Jaeger on Oct 31, 2015 13:16:44 GMT -5
Kage chuckled, looking at the impatient human beside him. The man obviously knew nothing about patience, nor the truth of actual battle. He was wet behind the ears, as the saying wet despite his obvious intelligence. Kage decided not to hold it again the guy, for being new to something did not make oneself bad at it, simply new with little experience. Experience could only be got from actually performing and practicing things out. The man was clearly very intelligence, but books and brains where one style of intelligence and the knowledge about how things would play out was another intelligence.
Kage nodded towards the door, and grunted softly. "What kind of explosives you got?" He asked, looking over at the male for a moment. Kage had several ideas rolling around inside his head. All where pretty grand and bold, and even a few might work. However he was tired of this already, and wanted to end this little farce and be done with this military operation. So he quickly laid out the several options he saw to the male before them.
"There is ventilation upon the roof of the building. We could easily get in through that. I am sure there is some sort of light security on there, but it would be nothing compared to what will be upon anything else. My friend and companion here would make sure that there is a way and could easily melt through any obstacle in our way. We could use your explosives further to distract them and make it seem like we are trying to unsuccessfully blow through the main doorway by setting up several smaller explosives. However, we could also take the more brutish route and simply blast a hole in through the roof which would give us an easy entrance as well as a perfect place for them to know we are coming from. We could also melt through the front door, however seeing how thick that is it would take a little bit of time."
Post by Nathaniel Graham on Nov 2, 2015 23:45:37 GMT -5
"C4." The young man glanced at Kage as if he wondered whether the man were serious or not. What other explosives would have brought? C4 was most appropriate for the mission at hand. They weren't exactly digging a mine and Gram hadn't seen reason enough to search for something more arcane or less readily available. C4 would do.
The cogs within his head were turning as Gram watched Kage, not a hint of emotion or deliberation visible on his young face. He ran one hand through his messy blonde hair as the other man talked. Outwardly, he was listening intently. Inwardly, Gram went over everything he knew about the compound. Which was everything, really. Kage's plan could work but it would be a hard fight. Outgunned and outnumbered in close quarters.
"Whichever you think is best." Nate told him once he was finished. The young man was done giving input. Kage would do as he wanted and he would either fail or succeed. Gram couldn't walk him through the entire mission. He was attempting to play at being just the tech guy, after all.
