My Own World The sun lingered in the morning sky. Its colors were casting a vibrant shade of orange over the tree tops. The highly contrasting colors were a pleasure to behold. The dim light was just enough to awaken the sleeping giant.
Uuto sat lazily on a sturdy branch. His right leg hung leisurely off the side while his back was pressed tightly to the trunk of his perch. His arms were crossed at his chest. A soft grunt escaped the beast's lips as he fidgeted against his annoyance. Begrudgingly, he lifted his right arm up over his face, blocking out the blinding white from his eyes. The sun had only just risen high enough to shine through the trees. Uuto let out another growl and rubbed at his eyes thoroughly - clearing out most of the gunk - before wiping the drool from his open maw as he tended to sleep with his mouth wide open. Slowly he was beginning to regain his senses.
His brown eyes darted around his surroundings, picking up hints and clues as to where he was currently in his migration. Plenty of trees in the nearby area with some mountains just barely visible in the distance. He was somewhere in the north - most likely in Canadian territory. The weather was currently warm with a slight chill in the wind. Perfectly suitable for a creature such as himself with thick, coarse fur.
A loud rumble sounded from the beast. However, this time the sound did not originate from his jowls, but rather emanated from his stomach. Hunger struck like a dagger to the gut. Breakfast time! In a single motion the clumsy sasquatch rolled off to his side, swinging down from the branch as he caught himself, his long arms allowing him to dangle just a couple feet from the ground. He gripped the branch tightly as he carefully planned his dismount so as to avoid all possibly types of injuries. Tightening his arm muscles, he pulled himself up a very short distance before letting go and dropping to the ground. His landing destroyed any former elegance his actions may have had. Landing with a loud thump, he managed to stay on his feet for only a few moments before losing all sense of balance and falling back onto his rump.
Uuto clambered back up onto his feet, grunting and spinning in an attempt to determine which direction to go. To the west was the faint sound of mechanical engines running. Human transportation devices were buzzing across the landscape. A shutter ran up his spine at the thought. How had he managed to overlook such a situation? How could he have slept so close to a human path way? Too many times had he watched a raccoon or deer get smucked by one of those metal beasts. They frightened him. Well, sort of. He was confident he could take one in a one-on-one fight, but he'd rather not risk it, even for the sake of pride. Shaking off these thoughts he turned to the east. Time to find something tasty to eat.

Although Stilia is usually in a human form, it often mimics her true face. She has large, round eyes, but otherwise her features are quite sharp. She smiles much more then she used to, but usually only out of politesse.

It was a beautiful day. Stilia was exploring Northern America in her most recent trip, and was enjoying the various natural sites the continent had to hold. She had seen the cities, but they were nothing compared to the old splendor of ancient European architecture. This whole place was nothing but a child. Except the nature, and Stilia found that some of these places still held a sort of primeaval feel to them. As if she could walk through time, and find a mammoth among the mountains on the western coast.
Today was another forest day. She was quite enjoying the forests, such as the pine forests of the North, or the giant redwoods of the west. She had preferred the redwoods, but that was partially due to hating the cold. At least she had had the sense to come in summer, instead of winter. The poor gorgon would have hated these nature walks if a few feet of snow were involved.
She walked out of the human town, past some construction, and into the woods. She walked a bit, until a brutal smell assaulted her poor nose. The poor darling gagged a little bit, wondering what in the world that scent was. However, perhaps against better judgement, she followed it, unknowingly stalking a giant ape.

Jack watched the cars blaring past, their grumpy occupants just looking for an excuse to blare their vehicle's horn. It never ceased to amaze him just how loud the metal contraptions were and just how unbothered people were by the noise. Well, the young man didn't mind so much. He found silence to be disconcerting, anyways. Besides, the fumes paired rather nicely with his sandwhich. Turkey, tomato, and swiss between lettuce and some type of bread. A little boring, but it did the job. The cheddar ruffles were more appetizing but nearly gone. Oh well.
"Shit." Jack said, his mouth full, after checking his phone. It was past time for him to get moving so he crammed what was left of his sandwhich and the chips into his mouth and hopped down from the roof of the sedan he'd been sitting on, watching traffic from the side of the road. There was a brief moment of near panic when the young man nearly choked trying to get it all down but he managed without serious incident.
Rummaging through the car, the young man pulled out a small satchel and a rifle. Jack grabbed a few things from the dash and tossed them into the satchel, doing a little last minute packing. He downed what was left of the bottle of water he'd been drinking as he slung the rifle over his shoulder, helping to wash down what remained of the sandwhich and just generally smooth things over.
Once sure he wasn't forgetting anything, including the small satchel he'd be bringing for this little trip, Jack set off into the wilderness, heading east at a brisk but comfortable pace. Keeping in mind his purpose slogging through the woods at this time of day rather than chilling at home playing some video games, Jack was alert to any possible sounds and movements. He wasn't too worried that someone would sneak up on him, though. Afterall, Jack was the one planning to do the sneaking-up-on-ness.
