Kage was crouched up a rooftop, looking down the two stories to the pavement below himself as people wandered past completely oblivious of the hooded and cloaked individual above them. His face was cast in the shadows of his hood, the black cloak swirling around himself as he looked upon them. A weight settled upon his shoulder, and Sturmgeist was there with him. He turned his head and looked at the purple dragon, chuckling softly to himself as he watched the last half of a rat's tail sliding between the reptilian's teeth and down his throat. The male nodded, and reached over to stroke the dragon's head.
"Have a good snack?" He asked the little one. A wave of pleasure and content filled himself, and it was not from himself. He idly wondered when dragons began to get the hang of actual human words. It would be different to actually converse with Sturmgeist in real words, instead of simply receiving images and feeling from the young dragon. He contemplated that for a minute, then stood up. He moved over to a fire escape, and swung himself out upon it and slide down the ladder. His feet slammed in to the platform, and he turned releasing the ladder and grabbing the hand railing. He leap over the hand rail, and landed upon the ground beneath that. His knees bent slightly, helping to absorb the impact and he straightened back up. Sturm fluttered off his shoulder at the sudden motion, and glided a slow circle around him until he was safely back upon the pavement, before landing once more upon his shoulder. The little reptilian crawled beneath the black cloak, and lay across his shoulders with his chin on his right shoulder and tiny front paws gripping his shirt while his back paws gripped his left shoulder and tail slightly wound around his left arm.

Ares had quite the passion for fighting. None could best her, not even when she was just a normal human. She trained daily, and had the sharp mind needed to predict her opponent’s moves. She’d gotten even better, if that was possible, since becoming a God. She was filled with this power, but in exchange was also filled with bloodlust, an all-consuming need for war. She was a person of self-restraint, but did enjoy causing a few fights.
And that was exactly what she was doing. Ares was in a pub, and held her hand high above the crowd, her fist filled with cash. Her voice rang above the noise of the crowd, in Mandarin, her dialect perfect for the Shanghai area despite her obviously European heritage. “Anyone who can beat me gets 70,000 Yuan! You can all come at me at once, or alone. If you use a weapon I will too.”
That was worth over 11,000 US dollars, and, combined with Ares’ natural ability to inspire bloodlust in others, many hopped up immediately. A wicked grin spread across the woman’s face, and she shoved the money back into her pocket just as they began diving at her.
Within minutes, everyone in the pub was knocked out, or cowering from watching her fight. Ares slapped some money on the bar to pay for the damages, and for a bottle of baijiu that she immediately downed. She then left the bar, satisfied for the day. However, being a God wasn’t all fun and games. The Queen constantly reminded her she had duties. Ares had been tempted with the thought of overthrowing her, but did not want the hassle of trying to babysit a bunch of whiny Gods.

Kage walked along the sidewalk, his feet making just the slightest of noises in his boots as he moved along. His black cloak swirled around him like a shadow and he came armed with his typical weaponry which included his throwing blades, his grappling hook with a length of rope, a karambit style knife, and his signature custom weapon. He moved through the alley ways, and skirted the larger gathering places of humans not wanting to fully cause a scene just yet. He really wanted to simply avoid people in general for the moment, not really caring for them. So far, he cared for three things in his life. He cared for his CLan, Mūnsasori first and foremost. Secondly was his bounded, wonderful dragon Sturmgeist, whom he shared every thought and feeling with and yet they remained separate beings. Then he found himself coming to grapple with that reality, as his increasing love and care for the one named Seraphina was chipping away at his eagerness to serve his clan in all the crazy things they wished to do.
He walked with these things in mind, seemingly not going anywhere but in reality taking a long meandering route through the city. He was here for a reason, and that reason was because he had been sent by his clan to perform a job. A rather routine, stupid job that did not require his amount of skills and talents and should normally be expected from a younger shinobi with less experience. However Kage had the suspicion that the Clan was questioning him, wondering about his loyalties now after what had happened with Seraphina and the Zekkyō taka. He wondered if they where investigating him, or simply giving him an easy mission to let him cool down and see what would happen.

Find the boy. Find the boy.
Should she just teleport behind him, tap on his shoulder, and be like “Hey kid want to go get a tattoo?” Ares knew she should probably be more subtle than that. The kid would be freaked out if she did that, although he was probably used to weird people. I mean, he considered himself a frikken ninja for Pete’s Sake. Doesn’t get a whole lot weirder than that.
Oh well, when in doubt, go cheesy!
Ares teleported a bit ahead of where Kage was headed and got a few huge bags of groceries ready. The crowd was a bit thicker here, for even if one took the long way it was impossible to always avoid people in a crowded city like Shanghai. It was China, after all, over one seventh of the world lived in the country.
As Kage walked around, Ares would subtly step in front of him at the last moment, bumping him and dropping all her newly acquired groceries.

Kage was winding through the city, and suddenly sighed as he came upon a large group that he would have to pass through to continue upon his way. There was simply no question about it. He grimaced, then checked to make sure his weapons where secure before pulling out his staff. Using it as if it where a walking stick provided an excellent excuse to have it in hand and ready to go at a moment's notice. He glanced down at the small lump upon his shoulder, and sent the young dragon a small thought.
Stay still, be quite.
Sturmgeist did not move, but a sense of approval washed through Kage's mind and he smiled in relief. Even his dragon did not enjoy the company of large crowds, finding them slightly claustrophobic and overwhelming just like his companion human. So with the two beings set, Kage moved off in to the crowds. Making his way through them carefully, he made sure to keep away from most of them and especially the side of his body with most of Sturm upon it. He used his 'staff' to kind of tap people out of the way gently to let them know he was trying to get through when they where particularly stubborn and not wanting to move.
He was just about to get out of the crowd, when somebody stepped right in front of him and he bumped in to her in mid-step. There was no dodging it, else he would create a large scene and possibly knock over other people. He sighed, but instantly knelt down and began to push things back in to bags and lift them up to prevent them from falling out. He looked up at the lady, and apologized.
"Excuse me, ma'am. I am sorry for knocking in to you like that."

Ah, beautiful. The cheesy plan worked, and the young Draconian ninja walked right into her. And, as expected, he was at least enough of a gentleman to pick up the knocked over groceries, and give them back to her with an apology. Or maybe he just didn’t want to seem like a jerk in public.
“Oh, it’s alright. I should be saying sorry, it is my fault, those bags are just so heavy that I tripped right into you.” She lied smoothly. Of course, Ares could pick up this man without a problem, despite he was over half a foot taller than her.
“I would hate to trouble you, but you seem like a fit man, could you maybe help me bring this home? It would be much appreciated.” Ares asked, giving him her best smile. It wasn’t Aine worthy, but this War Goddess still had a few charms of her own.

Kage looked at the female he had almost run over accidentally and waved away her apology. He did not need it, because there was nothing she needed to apologize for. She had not done anything wrong.
"There is no reason to apologize ma'am. None what so ever, it was my fault for almost running your down."
When she spoke again, he nodded listening to her politely. No he did not really want to help her carry those groceries, he was things to do. However that was an impolite thing to do, and besides it was not really like he was on sort of schedule or time frame. Helping a lady with her heavy groceries really did not seem all tha tout of the way or even that unusual. In fact it was like a typical, every day to day occurrence was it not? So he supposed the he should just help this lady then complete his goal.
"Alright ma'am, I have nothing pressing at the moment and can help you with your groceries."

The man’s words reflected the upmost politeness. His thoughts, however, betrayed him. He obviously did not want to help some random young lady carry her bags back to her home. He had better things to do.
Oh, certainly nothing better than Ares had planned!
“Well thank you very much Mr…” She trailed off, obviously waiting for him to finish the sentence. If he did, she would thank him again using whatever name he had given her. If not, or after that, she would smile and begin to lead the way to her supposed home, carrying the lightest of the bags.
They ditched the crowd, ending up once more in the alleys where Kage had been stalking beforehand, and Ares walked confidently along, taking twists and turns as if she knew the area like the back of her hand. They were starting to get into a more ragged, dirty district, but Ares still lead the way with purpose, unfearful of the unsavory characters that were beginning to show themselves, sitting on the ground or muddling in small groups by almost abandoned looking shops and such things.
Kage looked at the shorter female as she thanked him, however with out a name to direct towards him she left it slightly open and inviting for him to supply a name for her to call him by. Seeing as Kage had no real name, and simply the name given to him by the Clan itself, he had no issues with providing random people his name. Should such random people be creepier then the normal, and attempt to find him afterwards based upon such a name they would eventually find: nothing. Absolutely nothing, because by all accounts Kage Jaeger did not exist on any public databases.
"Jaeger, ma'am. Kage Jaeger." He after a moment. Let her think he provided a false name, or anything else she wanted. It was a clever tactic, something he did on several occasions. Although by all rights it was his "true" name, or at least the name he preferred to be known by, it could also be a code name or fake name or anything else.
He followed the lady through the crowds and finally out of the crowds back in to the alleyways between the streets. She knew where she was going, which Kage would hope seeing as she was suppose to be taking him to her home. However the unusual situation had him slightly on edge. Tiny talons poked at his skin, and he knew his worry was causing poor Sturm to worry as well beneath his cloak. He tried to send some reassuring thoughts to his dragon, to calm the small purple reptilian. It was helpful, but only a little bit.

Ares smiled at the delayed name, although she was resisting the urge to smirk. It was an interesting strategy he had thought up for his name, although as she had access to his mind she knew it was the truth. She could also feel the restless dragon, hiding amongst his things.
The walk proceeded fairly quietly, Ares was humming a marching song and seemed blissfully ignorant of the decrepit surroundings. This place was getting worse by the step: barred windows, even more strange people. One man, who was missing a few teeth and looked as if he hadn’t bathed in weeks, saw them and immediately left.
Soon though, he returned. And with him were three other men. They trapped Ares and Kage in an alleyway, two men on either side of them blocking the exit. They all had small weapons, and the toothless man spoke.
“You know how this works, give us everything in your pockets.”

Kage was noting everything. He kept a close watched up where they where going, and what was happening around them. After all, that was what kept the male alive. Observations, after all, where a natural part of life and he had just learned to refine them in a sense towards his more active and violence filled life. So when the male disappeared so quickly, Kage immediately tensed but said nothing. When the male reappeared before them with a friend, both holding out weapons Kage almost scoffed. This was almost to cliche. He glanced behind himself, confirming his suspicion already that they had brought a third to back them up and prevent them from leaving the way they had come originally. He wanted to blame the female for leading them in to this, but he supposed in the end it did not really matter. Besides, the idea of a good fight to warm up his blood made his flesh tingle slightly. The scar upon his left hand tingled as well, and he had to remind himself to not take to many risk other wise his beautiful Seraphina would be extremely upset with him. Especially as he had promised her before leaving for this he would be safe.
He stepped in front of the 'younger' female, placing himself between the two creeps and her form. The one behind them was hanging out, ready to back up his comrades and was mostly there to keep them from leaving. Kage had no intentions of leaving this place the way they had come. Three untrained street thugs did not scare himself in the least bit. The male asked for the most cliche thing, and Kage could not help but to roll his eyes at the imbecile who could not even think of something witty or intelligent to say at this point in time. So Kage grinned, and gripping the edges of this cloak with the hand corresponding to that side he threw his cloak open and held it there. Inside was his wide variety of weaponry. Four of his specially crafted scorpion shaped throwing knives where on the inside of his cloak itself where they where now clearly visible and nasty looking, his karambit was upon his back, and the handle just stuck out from his left side of his back, his twelve shuriken divided in to two pouches upon either side of his hips, and today he carried a manriki-gusari which was wound around his waist like a belt even though it did not function as one.
Throwing his cloak open was for two effects. The first was to show off his array of weaponry, stunning the two thugs for a moment at their poor choice in attack somebody. The shock effect would give Kage a brief second of movement while they where stunned, which he was quick to take. He struck out at the closest male, the one who had went and gotten his friends. He attacked with a straight armed thrust, open palmed with the heel of his hand slightly forward. He slammed his attack in to the man's solar plexus, sending the man staggering backwards and knocking the wind out of him. Kage knew that this was well and grand and all, and would leave the man out of the fight for several minutes at least which was more then enough time to take care of the others.
There was also the second reason for throwing open his cloak before his instigating attack. That was Sturmgeist, who had been hiding beneath the cloak and although the other female knew he was there, the three men did not. The small, but increasingly growing, ball of purple scales launched itself right in the face of the other attack. Flinging it's body forwards, talons flashed and gouged at the man's face seeking his optical spheres to rip and tear. Talons slashed, ripping through soft flesh and muscle alike and the man fell back screaming as his eyes where removed from his skull. The small dragonling contemplated feasting on them, but was to full after the rat from earlier to bother with it and left the man there, screaming and clawing at his own face.

Ares smiled to herself as the muggers surrounded them. Of course, it wasn’t their idea, but rather her own, influencing these people to come and pick off the ‘easy targets’. Kage valiantly stepped in front of her, although there were two men on either side of them, before jumping into the frenzy.
Ares noted his fighting style. Groceries still in hand. The four men seemed to have forgotten the woman was there, as if she didn’t exist and never had. In that brief moment of fighting, that was true, at least for the men, who couldn’t see the woman nor had any memory of her.
Ares therefore leaned against the wall and watched as Kage transformed himself into a bat, throwing his cape open like a pair of wings. His baby dragon also lept into the fray, ripping out a man’s eyes. Awfully gruesome fate for just a few poor muggers, who were probably just trying to get enough money to not starve as they inject more drugs into their system.
Ares had never disappeared to Kage, and was still carrying the groceries when it was all done.
“Woah! Are you a professional? All those weapons, are you a swordsman? A ninja? An assassin? A body guard? What’s the purple lizard?” She asked, still in the act of feigned ignorance.
Post by Kage Jaeger on Dec 7, 2015 23:04:20 GMT -5
Kage whirled around, having not forgotten the two men that had been behind them to the sides. Having dispatched of the first person, and knowing that the second was completely taken care of by Sturmgeist he whirled upon the other two who had moved towards him when he began his attack seemingly ignoring the female for the larger threat which was...himself. He did not draw any of his other blades however, because although he had critically injured one being, and the other was critically injured by his dragon, so far none of them would die. That was the way that Kage wanted to keep it. Swift and terrible retribution, but death was only dealt if it was completely deserved.
Instead Kage's fingers wrapped around his primary weapon, the staff he carried with himself. Although it could be a deadly force with the blades hidden inside, Kage knew he would not need those. The bludgeoning force of the blunt staff would serve his purposes quite well. He swept the weapon in an inside upward arc with a flick of his wrist that caught the thrusting wrist of the male with upon his left side, knocking the stabbing weapon away from himself along with the weapon. A jerk, and the bottom end (which had just been the top end) snapped outwards and upwards and crashed between the man's spread legs right in to his family jewels. As the male sank to his knees, Kage jerked the staff back and twirled towards his right, away from the lunging other man. The staff flashed behind his back, coming around to his other hand and the end stuck home across the temple of the fourth attacked. Behind his eyes, stars would flash momentarily before he crumpled like a sack of flour and toppled face first to the ground with his own momentum. Kage went to the male still upon his knees, and with a smart rap of his staff sent the male unconscious upon the ground.
Finished with his work, he simply walked back over to the groceries he had dropped earlier, idly hoping he had not broken anything and picked them up. Sturmgeist, clambered up his leg, almost pulling his pants down and Kage lifted his eyebrow at the growing reptilianoid. Sturm would be to large to accomplish that task for to much longer. However for now, the dragon simply slide beneath Kage's cloak and curled back upon his shoulder and Kage looked at the female as she spoke.
"Yes, I am a professional, and the correct term is shinobi not ninja. As to the purple lizard, that is one to many questions at a time. I believe we where going somewhere?" He nodded his head down the road showing her he was ready to continue upon their way.

“A professional shinobi? Wow. But like aren’t those finished? They were really in Feudal Japan, aren’t the groups nowadays just wanna-bes? Nothing like they were before? False purpose?” She rambled on, looking at his clock for any signs of purple lizards.
She sighed when he said they had somewhere to go, readjusting the groceries in her arms and leading once more. “You know, you’re really bad at diverting subjects. Admitting you’re a shinobi, but outright refusing to answer about the purple lizard, only to jump straight to something else? The fact you’re hiding something and that the lizard is important is clear as day all because of the way you acted. But I get it, you won’t tell me without a fight.”
She kept walking ahead as if nothing had ever happened. No muggers, no violent beatings, no shinobi carrying her groceries for her. “We’re almost there, although I know I don’t live in the nicest area, thanks. Muggers practically live next door there are so many around here.”

Kage followed the female as she began to lead the forward along their path. He watched the back of her head as they walked, and she began to speak to him about hiding things about who he was and what his purple lizard was. He quirked an eyebrow above his left eye as he moved, wondering if she realized how silly she sounded. Accusing a shinobi of keeping secrets and hiding things was sort of like accusing water of being wet, or ice being cold, or fire being hot... was it not simply part of his nature? He would think that was pretty much as obvious as anything else around them.
He didn't respond to her words but simply continued walking along in silence, keeping to himself as he walked simply because he had nothing to say. She had not really asked a question, but made a statement so he kept his lips shut and his eyes and ears open to her words and what was happening around them as they walked. He was more worried about more muggers, rapists, or other crazy people who would want to accost them again.
