The shinobi said nothing. Apparently being a shinobi was alright to tell anyone, but nothing else. “Being quiet really doesn’t help. It just makes people more curious. The trick is to sate their curiosity, so that they don’t start looking into things. Of course, I bet a shinobi has well hidden tracks. But I get it, you don’t want to talk. Still can’t help but wonder though.”
Ares smiled, her cheeks forming dimples with this false face. “It’s always enjoyable to see someone else fight, you really learn a lot about them. You know, I’m a pretty good fighter too. You have to be if you live in a place like this. I bet I could even take on a shinobi! I don’t really look it though, do I?”
A small laugh this time, the girl rarely seemed to stop talking. Evntually, she slowed down and stopped outside a tattoo palor. “Here we are!”

The male glanced at the small female figure, raising his eyebrow and watching. She seemed exceedingly talkative and energetic. Of course there was nothing exactly wrong with that, it just seemed to go against Kage's own personal preferences for silence and discretion. She did make a point, that giving just enough information would prevent people from wanting to dig further, but there was a fallacy behind that. There was simply nothing else he was allowed to tell anybody, that wouldn't involve him killing them afterwards. He was a ninja, that was what he did. He couldn't talk about his clan, and there was nothing in his past except his clan so there was nothing there to talk about himself. He didn't know exactly what it was she excepted him to talk about.
When she started a whole new conversation, he blinked and actually started to get involved in the conversation.
"Hmmm, that is exceptionally true. Watching another fight is extremely telling of their personality and styles in multiple things. I would have to agree, you do not seem like the time that would fight very much. However I have learned looks can be very deceiving, and you should never...what is the adage? Jude a magazine by it's cover?"
He looked at the tattoo parlor she stopped in front of, and tilted his head to one side. He eyed it, then looked back at the young female quizzically.
"You live here? Are you sure?" It wasn't that he didn't believe here, he knew many people in China lived inside or above their workplaces, however he just did not seem to get that...vibe from her that she would actually live here.

“A book by its cover.” Ares corrected, however, she said it in very broken English, obviously clouded by her native tongue. The man asked if she was sure this was her home. She smiled, switching back to Mandarin. “Of course I know it is my home. I do not work here, but they are very kind, and are renting a room to me upstairs. It is well enough for a woman on her own, albeit temporary. I do not wish to spend my whole life wondering if I’ll be robbed walking back.”
She opened the door. “I live upstairs, if you do not mind helping me for a few seconds more.”
The place seemed dark. It was sterile, but lacked a lot of light. The outside didn’t give much indication as to the nature of the place either, other than the sign that said tattoos. She would guide Kage to the back, and up some stairs, where there were a few rooms. Pulling out her keys, she unlocked one, and placed her bag inside, before turning to take Kage’s.
“Of course, for all your help, let me give you a reward.”

"Ah, yes, that is what is was. Judge a book by it's cover."
Kage nodded as she corrected him, giving him the correct term. He followed the female inside the building, glad to help her carry her groceries inside. He looked around, letting his eyes adjust to the darker interior. Although he could not "see" in the pure dark, he could see fairly decently in darkened conditions such as this. He glanced at the the sign that said tattoos, tilting his head and then around. The place seemed exceedingly clean for a tattoo parlor, especially one in this area of town.
"It seems clean. Do they use the new equipment, or the more traditional styles of tattooing?" He asked her before turning to look at her and frowning. "There is no need for such a reward, ma'am. I know that tradition calls for honor to help another, and you know this as well. So there is not a need for such reparations of such a small amount of time."
He bowed his head to the female, showing his respect to her in a older style by pressing his hands together and nodding his head alongside a tilting of his upper body towards her.

Ares shrugged when the shinobi asked her what style of tattooing they used, admitting that she didn’t know, and didn’t have any tattoos herself, and only lived there. She didn’t talk much to her landlords. And later, when he refused his reward, she sighed over-exaggeratedly. “Preposterous, you deserve a reward, at least some tea, after carrying all that here for me, and even fighting off some muggers.”
However, as Kage made eye contact with the young Asian, he would find himself frozen by her stare. A few seconds more, and he would fall asleep. If his dragon tried to pounce at her, she would keep it trapped in the air with her telekinesis. It was all fairly simple for a God.
Once Kage fell asleep, she’d smile. “Of course, I have something much different then tea in mind.”
When he would wake up again, he’d find himself in a dark room, although his dragon was there to keep him company. There was nothing in this room, only hallways leading in different directions.

Kage frowned as he looked in to the small Asian woman's eyes, suddenly unable to move. Then he felt himself growing weary, his eyes slowly closing upon their own accord and he was unconscious and knew nothing more. As Kage feel asleep, Sturmgeist leap away from his body as he fell. The small blackish purple dragon tilted it's head from one side to the other, eyeing it's suddenly unconscious human counterpart. The small dragon looked at the Asian female, but instead of pouncing or acting aggressively towards her it decided to wait and watch to see what exactly was happening. As Kage was moved, so his dragon would follow to find out what was going on and what it needed to do to protect him.
As Kage woke up, he frowned looking around a dark room and narrowed his eyes. His dragon nudged his chin with it's own nose and Kage reached up and stroked Sturmgeist's head. It obviously was not to bad if Sturm was still with him and was not freaking out. So Kage slowly sat up and looked around.

The crackle of an intercom interrupted the silence. The voice was choppy, as if the system wasn’t very good, but it was obviously that of the woman who’d brought Kage here. “Hello and welcome. I can’t tell you how pleased I am that you are here today… Not that you had any choice.” A small giggle ensured, before the message resumed. “This labyrinth has no way out, but through listening to me. Now, I have filled the labyrinth with the most dangerous of beasts… Such as man. I will not tell you how many other people are down here, but all of them have something you want. To get out, you must collect each item. You’ll find it tattooed on your arm. Hopefully you’re lucky, and the part others need will be fatal, because there will only be one winner, and any survivors will be left down here to starve. You’ll find the skeletons of past losers…” Another giggle.
“Now, you all have weapons. Good luck.”
The transmission stopped, and the hall was plunged back into silence. And, on his arm, Kage would find the word ‘Toe’ tattooed.

Kage slowly stood up, pushing himself up off the table. His hands quickly searched his own body, checking for any wounds that might have been inflicted upon himself while he was unconscious. Not finding anything he quickly began to check the rest of his clothing. Finding his weapons where they had been, he paused listening to the voice of the female who had drawn him here. His eye narrowed, and he quickly looked over at his arm noticing the new marking upon it. His lips pulled down until he was frowning at the disgrace that had been done to his body.
He glanced over at his companion, and with out a word spoken asked Sturmgeist to do something for him. The small dragon whined softly, then Kage knew that the drakling would do as he asked. Kage rolled the sleeve of his arm up, then knelt for a moment and picked up something off the floor. He cared little for what it was, but he ripped a small strip of the hem of his cloak and wrapped it around the object. He then placed the wrapped piece between his teeth, then nodded at Sturmgeist. The small dragon crawled closer, and flexed the special muscles that worked the small venom sacks in the roof of it's mouth. The small stream of acid spurted forward, and struck the flesh upon Kage's arm where the mark was. He gritted his teeth, biting down upon the cloth wrapped piece between his teeth.
Kage pushed through the pain, letting his drakling burn the mark from his flesh. He then pulled the object from his mouth and unwrapped it. He took the wrapping of cloth, and quickly bound it around his arm. He stood up, and reached towards Sturmgeist. The drakling leap up to Kage's arm and clambered up it, settling upon his shoulders. With his companion, and the mark removed from his arm, Kage set off in to the darkness of the labyrinth to find what he needed to find.

Jian was a normal man. He’d married his high school sweetheart, and they’d had a son named Zedong. Jian worked a normal office job, which he didn’t like very much, but he kept a picture of his family to motivate him throughout the day. Jian had no big fancy accomplishments, but he always went to his son’s school events, and would take him out of school once a year for a special day, just the two of them. Zedong loved to go to the amusement park on those days. He goes to plays, science fairs, the whole ten yards. Of course, to make up for the time he takes off of work, he often works overtime, to scrape by enough for his family.
For a while, Jian started getting depressed. He turned to alcohol. He was already out working so late, he never got to see his son, so what was a few hours later spent at the bar? Zedong was asleep anyways. He became an alcoholic, and their thin budget was stretched even further. His wife even took up a second job, but it was barely enough.
Jian eventually sought help, at the insistence of his wife, Yu. He’d been clean for eight months now. Not a drop to drink. His wife got to quit her second job, and be there more for their son. Jian thought maybe he could find happiness.
But now, the word liver was written on his arm. Like some sick irony. And, after forty minutes of navigating the maze, looking for some sort of way out, another man happened upon him, and killed him, harvesting his liver.
--
In another end of the maze, another man walked around, scared. He was named George. George had had lived an unexciting life. So he’d decided to spice things up. Have a story worth telling! So he’d gone on a trip to China. Of course, being kidnapped wasn’t part of the plan, and there was more to this trip then he’d wanted for his story telling.
George had gotten lucky. The word hair was written on his arm. Another person had found him, but didn’t kill him. However, he’d made George quickly shave off every hair on his body so that no one else could harvest from him, all in under five minutes, under the threat of getting his throat cut. So George had a lot of scrapes from a hasty shaving of his body, a few around his poor boys. But at least he was alive, even if he did look like a naked molerat.
George was holding his weapon, but wasn’t sure if he could hurt anyone. He’d succumbed so easily to the last guy, and George didn’t think he could kill anyone. However, turning a corner, he almost bumped right into Kage. Swearing under his breath, he raised his trembling hand.

As Kage prepared to set off in the strange labyrinth set out before him to acquire the strange body parts, he meet with his first person other then his drakling settled upon his shoulder. Sturmgeist hissed, spreading his wings but Kage was already on it. His staff in hand, he spun it before himself and struck the weapon out of the other man's hand then spun away, grabbing his staff with both hands and pressing the button upon it and pulling it apart. He completed his spin, the hidden blades with in the staff resting against the side of the other man's neck but not killing him.
It was obvious to Kage that this man was not a die hard criminal, and something was seriously wrong with him. After all, he had every piece of hair removed from his body, including his eyebrows making the other male look extremely unusual. Kage stared at him for several seconds, the blade of his weapon pressing against flesh. Finally Kage spoke to the other, speaking softly and quickly.
"What is it you are suppose to give up, and tell me quick or I will drag your entire carcass with me." He pressed the blade harder against the man's throat, lifting the matching blade in the other half of the staff and digging the tip in to his chest to make his meaning crystal clear with out killing the man who obviously had no chance at surviving this hell.

Well it was official. George was fucked. He hadn’t expected to actually win this thing, to survive, to go home and live another day. But part of him had hoped all the other members of this ‘game’ were as incompetent as he was. He’d ignored the nagging feeling that he was just fodder to get things started, until a flying lizard hissed at him and this dude disarmed him in a matter of seconds.
“Well fuck.” He mumbled to himself, holding his hands up in surrender. George slowly extended him arm for Kage to read, where, like his own arm had once been like, both Chinese and English characters were written. Unlike Kage though, George’s arm said ‘Hair’ in both languages.
“Um, I’m George.” He said, in English. His Chinese was quite honestly crap. “Are you going to kill me? Can I please say a prayer? Maybe give you a message for my family in case you make it out?”

Kage narrowed his eyes as the male gave up instantly, confirming his suspicion that this male (despite his strange appearance) was not a fighter. When the individual held out his arm, Kage glanced at it and read what was written there. What he read irritated him: Hair. There was not a scrap of hair upon this individual, from the looks of it. There where small nicks here and there, showing that he had either shaved himself, or been shaved in a hurry and thus not done a very good job.
Kage raised an eyebrow at the male as he began to ask Kage to carry a message. Kage was not a messenger, and was not about to do anything of the sort. That being said, he was not about to kill an unarmed guy who he did not need to kill. Kage suddenly spoke, tired of the man's babbling.
"Silence.....did you shave yourself or did somebody else shave you? I have no intentions of carrying any messages, or killing you. You do not have something I need to harvest from you to kill you, so thus I will not. Speak quickly."

First the dude told him to be silent, and then right after he started asking a couple of questions. It wasn’t like George had been babbling or anything. It was a few simple requests, that the dude denied. George sighed internally. He knew there was no way he was getting out of here, unless he was extremely lucky. Even if the dude didn’t kill him, only one of them were allowed to leave. The rest would starve to death, maybe even turn to cannibalism to briefly fend off death. A simple message wasn’t so hard, especially since no one would know what happened to him.
“Can I talk?” He asked, since the dude told him silence before the questions. He’d wait briefly for the guy’s reply, and proceed if the dude gave him an indication of yes. “I ran into someone else before you. They also spared me, but they made me shave off all my hair, so that only he’d have it. I guess. I don’t know. I mean, people are going to try and kill him regardless if he has my hair or not.”

Kage grimaced, looking at the male and frowned deeply. This man was weak, and really annoying and it made Kage just want to slit his throat and be done with the man. That was not Kage's way though, and he knew that doing so would not achieve him anything and also would be a waste of effort. There where other things to be worrying about anyways. Such as getting hair from this male that needed to be acquired.
"You said the man shaved your body....so I am assuming you mean your entire body. What about inside your nostrils? There is always hair as well. Cooperate, and I will think about taking your message to whatever family you have."
He asked the man the question while looking at him firmly, not giving him the chance of thinking about running away or escaping. Kage wanted to finish this up quickly and be done with man yet he could not see the harm in letting the individual live. Perhaps even carrying whatever trivial message it was he wanted to send to his family. That was all dependent upon how cooperative the individual was with him though, if he agreed to do anything for him.

George was getting a really strong urge to roll his eyes. “Yes, he shaved everywhere he could reach. Even my nose… I cut my nose and it kept bleeding after. It was annoying. The dude even looked inside my ears to make sure nothing was growing. I had to strip down for inspection. I mean, I guess it’s great he let me live, but I guess he didn’t want to shave my ding-dong.”
Greg looked around, a little weary. “Look, all this questioning is fine and all. I get it, you want my hair, you want to win. Well I’ve got none. So unless you want to wait for it to grow back, maybe we should keep moving? It’s makes me uncomfortable just standing here. Who knows when some dude is going to pop out from around the corner and-”
By some strange coincidence, a shadow was suddenly seen across the floor, coming from one of the tunnels. Greg snickered and whispered. “Would you look at that. I’m fucking psychic.”
