What. The. Fuck was going on here? Her night definitely wasn't going as she had planned. Bethany sighed and shook her head slightly.
Skittles announced he was leaving which was a bit of a relief to her. She wasn't sure if she could handle more of that awkward conversation. But then the man she had been talking to first decided to interact with the new kid instead. Beth watched as he picked up the candy and flung it at Skittles. "Nice shot." she said and couldn't help but chuckle, but tried to as quiet as possible.
Well, it was strange enough following one stranger through the streets but now if Skittles came along it would be two. One that was supposed to kill her and another that loved candy. Kage flashed something to one of the people at the restaurant and she had to wonder what it was. Whatever it was must have been pretty important since they got seated right away. Beth took a seat and began looking at one of the menus.
Jack is an average, unassuming guy. He stands bashfully, avoiding eye contact as he looks around at everything except the person he's speaking with. A closer look. however, will reveal more.
Beneath this carefully neutral appearance, Jack's body is lean and efficient. He's slow to anger and behind his bashful demeanor is an assertive individual observing his environment with an almost predatory nature.

When the skittle hit his shoulder, Jack was so startled that he dropped his candy. Small pieces of fruity flavored candy rushed across the filthy alley like the beautifully exquisite blood from the throat of a magnificent unicorn sporting a fresh Colombian necktie. A small part of the young man died in that moment, watching the chaos unfold. His entire world fell apart at this injustice. He wanted to fall to his knees and cry out 'Why!? WHY!?', sobbing. They were so young. He hadn't even gotten to eat half the bag yet! Why would the gods let something like this happen? Would Jack ever taste the rainbow again?
"What? Oh. Sure." Was his lackluster response to Kage's sort-of invitation. The young man rubbed his sore shoulder, wondering how he'd gone from cutting through an alleyway to being invited to eat dinner with a couple strangers. It was weird but he figured he could probably blow off his other plans. And if these two strangers turned out to be creeps then the young man could always just walk away and pick right back up where he'd left off. Of course, he'd need to buy a new bag of skittles.
So they went to some restaurant or whatever. The guy flashed something his wrist at some dude shortly before telling Jack to just order whatever. The young man poked through a menu before saying "Um, I guess I'll get a burger.."

Kage glanced through the menu quickly, then folded it and set it aside in a few seconds. When the waitress showed up, he gestured for the female to order her drink and meal first, then glanced at Jack as he ordered his burger. When it was finally his own turn, Kage spoke softly but loud enough for the waitress to hear.
"Pan seared, panko encrusted flounder, with a side of wild rice and asparagus. Water to drink please." He handed the waitress his menu, then waited watching the other two silently for moment. He finally spoke up and nodded towards Beth.
"So, what is everyone's names?" He asked, picking up his butter knife and slowly spinning it between his fingers, checking the edge of it with his fingernail then nodding before setting it down. He picked the fork up and inspected it next, turning it over in his fingers inspecting the silver front and back. He contemplated one of the tines for moment, then set it back down and looked up at the others.

The menu was pretty decent in size and variety so it would have taken Beth too long to look at the menu. The waitress came quickly and Kage looked at her to order first. She ordered a chicken dish without much thought just so she wouldn't hold up the other two from ordering.
Then there was silence. But what do you say really in this situation? She felt like it was a blind date going really really wrong. On one side the man that could have killed her, on the other a completely random stranger off the streets. Literally.
The silence was finally broken when Kage introduced himself and asked their names. She looked at him as he finished playing with the silverware and quietly replied "Beth." She wondered if he already knew her name and other things about her since he was hired to kill her. Actually there were things she wanted to ask him but it wasn't appropriate with Skittles sitting with them.

Jack ordered his burger and sat there, looking back and forth between the other two. He wasn't entirely sure why he was there. When the random ninja guy had invited him along, shortly after assaulting him with a skittle that the young man was pretty sure would leave a sizable bruise, Jack had been intrigued. He'd thought this might be interesting.
After all, who invited random strangers from dark alleys to dinner? But it wasn't proving to be very fun at all. The ninja didn't seem to like him, the woman didn't seem to like him --not to mention the young man had noticed her chuckle at his pain in the alley which definitely hurt his feelings-- and it just wasn't going very well.
Kage said his name and Beth said hers too. "My name is Jack. Nice to meet you, Kage and Beth." The young man was then at a loss for words. The silence felt pretty awkward.

Kage nodded as the two of them introduced themselves, keeping track of their facial expressions and looking between them. He contemplated and rubbed his chin as they lapsed back in to silence. He nodded as they seemed to be getting to know each other. However now it was lapsing back in to the uncomfortable silence from before and he frowned seeing that. He contemplated what to do next, then finally decided to try and strike up a conversation again.
"What does you both do for a living?"
He asked, watching as the waitress returned and gave them all their drinks. He sipped from his glass of water, watching the other two if they spoke or interacted or otherwise engaged in interaction with himself. He leaned back, setting his water glass upon the coaster to keep it from bleeding upon the table. He watched them, waiting for the inevitable question of what he himself did. He would tell them what he could, and not tell them what he was not allowed to revealed by the clan under penalty of a rather nasty, brutal death.

"Nice to meet you too Jack." She was trying hard to be nice and polite. Time seemed to be dragging and she just wished the food would arrive already so she could keep her face stuffed with food and not have to try and make conversation. They were by far the most quiet and awkward party at the restaurant.
Kage then asked yet another question. He was probably trying to break the awkward silence. But really, ask what we do for a living? Ha. Beth grinned and simply replied "I'm a Vampyre hunter." casually and took a sip of her drink. It didn't matter whether Skittles..or...Jack believed it or not, Kage knew it was true and Jack would probably think she was either a smart ass or crazy. Kage's answer would probably be pretty amusing too if he was going to be honest.
Since she already knew what Kage did, she looked to Jack curiously. He looked like he might be too young to even have a job.

Beth didn't seem to like him very much, the young man noticed almost immediately. Well, that was ok. Most people didn't, finding him annoying for some reason or other. At least she wasn't being rude. If it hadn't been for her mean chuckle in the face of his pain earlier in the alley Jack might actually like her. But as things stood he was totally only in this for the free burger.
The young man reached for his glass of water, momentarily forgetting that his shoulder on that particular side had been injured earlier that night. Jack managed to maintain his pleasant smile, screaming only inwardly. He returned his hand to his side and reached for his glass with the other one. As he sipped the cool liquid, the young man wondered if his shoulder might be dislocated. It was bothering him an awful lot. Maybe he should go see a doctor later. Yeah, that would probably be a good idea.
Kage asked what they did for a living, apparently in an attempt to break the increasingly awkward silence. Beth professed to being a vampyre hunter, which Jack thought was sort of interesting. "What do I do for a living? Well," the young man began, trying to find a way to phrase what he did for a living. "I guess I kill stuff. You know, people, monsters, whatever. It's more interesting than it sounds but can still be a bit of a grind sometimes." Jack sipped some more water, before asking "So what do you do, Kage?"

Kage watched the two with contemplation as they upon his face as they spoke, answering his question and telling him (and each other) what they did for a living. He grimaced ever so slightly when Bethany stated bluntly she was a vamprye killed, something that struck pretty close and on an especially tender nerve on Kage's heart. It made Seraphina's face fill his mind, if ever so breifly before he pulled himself back in to the hear and now. The male also mentioned that he to was a professional killer of some sort or another, however he never specified exatly for what leaving Kage to presume it was like mercenary work. Kage slowly picked his glass up, sipping the cool water held within before placing the glass back upon the table and looked between the female and male accompanying him to this fine dining establishment.
"It seems..." He said slowly, swirling the glass on table, keeping the bottom in contact with the coaster causing it to move as the glass moved, "we have a table full of killers."
He looked up at Bethany directly, staring in to her eyes intently as if trying to implant some idea or memory in to her skull. After several seconds of this, he finally relented and spoke another another four words.
"You need somebody dead," and with that their food arrived. Kage gently nodded his head at the waitress who delivered their good, gently unfolding his napkin and setting it upon his lap in preparation for his meal. He then took a sip from his glass yet again, setting it aside and picked up his fork to begin eating.

"Oh? So where were you headed tonight?" she asked Jack. Of course she already knew what Kage had been doing, but why was another killer somehow in the same place? Was it a coincidence or had he planned on doing some of that killing tonight?
Kage's statement was correct. Indeed they were a table full of killers. She glanced between both men and spotted Kage looking in her direction, not only that but right into her eyes. She stared right back into his with no emotion on her own face. What did he want from her? The look lasted a little too long for Beth's comfort but he was staring as if he was trying to tell her something. What it was she was uncertain.
The food arrived just in time but Beth wasn't sure she was hungry anymore. She didn't see this food prepared and for all she knew it could have been poisoned. Kage was hired to kill her after all. Perhaps he had changed his mind. He could have given a signal at any time while she wasn't paying attention. Or maybe she was being her usual paranoid self.

Beth asked him where he'd been headed. Considering her rudeness to him all night so far, Jack didn't feel too particularly obligated to be truthful with her. But then again, there wasn't really anything to tell. He hadn't been headed anywhere in particular. But he really didn't to nice to her, after she'd been so mean. But Jack also just wanted to be nice to everyone. It was quite the dilemma for him. In the end, he decided to tell the truth, figuring it wasn't worth caring so much.
"I wasn't headed anywhere in particular. I was supposed to take care of some stuff but I'd gotten bored earlier and figured I'd take the night off, do what I wanted to do." The young man said, looking around the weird restaurant. It wasn't the usual burger joint he frequented.
Beth and Kage were staring at each other which Jack found weird but chose not to comment on. Anyways, the food arrived and Jack tried to eat but honestly he'd filled up on sugar earlier and had a bit of a tummy ache. Kage mentioned Beth needed someone killed after staring at her for a while. The young man was entirely sure he didn't care, but figured it made for some polite conversation.
"You need someone killed, Beth? How come?" Jack asked, curious. He scratched his chin, wondering if another bag of skittles tonight would put him at an increased risk for diabetes.

Kage was about to loose it with Bethany, but then Jack quickly saved her by pointing out the obvious that she missed. With Jack having saved that particular problem, Kage simply resumed eating his food. He would cut small pieces of the fish, scooping up a few pieces of rice upon the fork then inserting the small morsel between his teeth. Removing the fork he would chew thoughtfully, while cutting a small section of asparagus. Once he was finished chewing, he would swallow then eat the piece of asparagus slowly while preparing his next bite of fish and rice. He would intermittently sip from his glass of water while eating. He was watching the other two closely, remaining quiet as they began to talk between themselves. He was hoping that they would converse and figure out what it was he was intending for them to do. He remained silent, observing the two of other killers he was hanging out with as he found their interactions amusing and educational for himself. He was not use to interacting with other people, and so this was strange for him. He also made a note to check upon his dragon, and found the image of companion tormenting a group of rats which it was then feasting upon slowly in front the other's to instill even deeper fear amongst them.

Bethany nodded to Jack about deciding to take the night off. "I'm sure you've earned it." She said trying to sound sincere. Sadly she didn't have the option to just take a night off. Poor Beth had been going on little to no sleep and had zoned out right at the part where Kage had made a comment about killing someone. She allowed it to register in her mind as the food arrived. She was in no way trying to be rude on purpose but luckily Jack jumped in and asked the question.
Why did Beth need someone killed? Let's see, how was she going to answer without having to tell her story to strangers who don't care? "I was at the wrong place at the wrong time." Ok, maybe they needed a little more detail than that. "The one they had targeted saved my life, and then they tried to capture me to get to him. But I fought back and decided to get a little payback." She paused, wondering if that was enough information to answer his question. "It's going to be him, or me."
The food looked delicious, so Beth picked up her fork and knife to begin cutting the chicken on her plate while occasionally glancing around between the men and their surroundings. Hopefully no one followed her here, putting the men at her table or anyone else in danger. That was another fear of hers.

The young man shrugged off Beth's comment, assuming it had been sarcastic. Jack worked pretty hard but what was most important to him was that he didn't really answer to anyone, leaving him free to do whatever he wanted. If he wanted to take the night off, he could and probably would because he was the only boss of him.
Kage hadn't said anything new, just silently sitting where he sat. Also eating. Beth seemed to have not noticed what he'd said earlier, but she responded eventually. She started vague before elaborating only slightly. Her motivation seemed to be either revenge or self preservation. Probably. Jack was mostly focused on his food so he wasn't putting to much thought into that sort of thing. But to show he was paying attention so that the young man wouldn't look too rude, Jack offered up a comment and a simple follow up question.
"Sounds unfortunate. Who did they capture you to get to?"

Kage sat back, having finished his meal. He gently turned his fork upside down upon his plate alongside his knife and spoon. He then pushed his plate exactly three inches away from himself in to the center of the table and laid his napkin upon the cleaned plate and sipped from his glass of water once more. Then he watched as Jack and Bethany began to converse. He already knew the details, after all he was hired to kill the girl though he had decided not to. What was killing somebody who had not learned their lesson yet after all. He had successfully helped Bethany learn something important, at least he hoped he had. Otherwise this would have been a totally useless endeavor upon his part.
He was not about to fill Jack in upon the nitty gritty of Bethany, because it was not his business so he had no right to do such things. If Bethany wanted a complete stranger to know her business and life happenings, that was up to her and her alone. He was not about to spill his secrets to anybody, and he would have been exceptionally upset if somebody had done that to himself. So he left it up to Bethany to tell her story to the male, listening himself to see if there where any interesting details to pick up that he did not know already.
