Cavehounds The caves found within the mountains in the harsh land that is the Khyper-Diorem hold many secrets and even more dangerous creature. The muscular Cavehound is one such. Weighing in at a discomforting three tons while boasting armor-like flesh, cone-shaped teeth as thick as a Human's hand at the gumline, and the wariness to detect footsteps from 10 feet away from vibrations in the ground, Cavehounds are not to be trifled with. The creatures used to live in the Plains of the Khyper-Diorem until the Banshees began appearing. They were unable to inflict harm on the beings and fled the Plains of the Khyper-Diorem to whatever caves they could find in the nearby mountains. Nearly as many Cavehounds died from the trip and bumping things in the caves as died at the hands of the Banshees, further decimating their number. They have been slowly recovering and after 3000 years of living in the caves, their numbers average to be three Cavehounds residing in each cave and slowly growing. Over time, the Cavehounds have become accustomed to the darkness. They use their sense of touch to feel vibrations through the nerve-laden pads of their feet and determine what the source is. Their vision is poor and their hearing is equally bad, yet they remain a powerful predator. Cavehounds lived in packs when they made their home on the plains but their numbers have destroyed chance of that. Those who are near other Cavehounds will join with them. The time they have spent in isolation and the length of time without any sort of the numbers they had been used to has caused these creatures to be very minimalistic when communicating with one another and they struggle to return to the mindset they had before the massacres and journey.
