Chaos walked calmly through the very busy streets of Tokyo. It was one of her favorite cities, next to Paris of course. A white cat she had named Callisto slipped through people's feet in front of her. She didn't bother keeping up, for Callisto wouldn't go to far. However, she was slightly curious as to where the cat would lead her.
It had been like this for a while now. The Archangels would tell Chaos to return to the clan and Chaos would respond by leaving her current whereabouts and go somewhere new. Well, Tokyo wasn't new, but it was such a fun city to get lost in. She still hadn't seen every place there was to see. Callisto usually led her to places she hadn't seen yet. So Chaos followed the cat as she maneuvered her way around the busy streets. After a while of every game though, the Archangels would find her and request that she go back with them. Then a new game would start.
The lights were very bright here; even their highways glowed. Chaos liked that. She loved city lights and Tokyo had the best ones. Chaos was pulled out of her thoughts as she lost sight of her companion. She felt her eyebrows furrow and moved faster. The cat was gone. She sighed and looked around. Unfamiliar place. Nice. She slowed down and began to stroll around the area, browsing through the windows of shops and restaurants. Nothing in particular really caught her eye. She wasn't one for shopping as she was for observing.
Speaking of observing, Chaos was seeing a lot of supernaturals. Well in Tokyo, it was ideal for supernaturals who could blend in and just get lost. However, most supernaturals were running from something when they got lost, and she wondered who all of these supernaturals were running from. Probably not he same person, but still, she usually only saw three or four supernaturals in one area of a city; not nine or ten. She was also picking up a presence stronger than the rest. Chaos looked through the crowd, yet couldn't pin-point the presence.
She finally shrugged it off and went into a very nice-looking restaurant to get something to eat. She shouldn't be worrying about other people's problems anyways, she had enough of her own. She scoffed.

The woman walked with a soft glow on her face from the city's own brilliant energies. This whole settlement seemed to vibrate, all abuzz with magic and life. The chocolate-haired woman could swear that even the lamps pulsed with it's liveliness.
It was Tokyo, Japan. Earth in 2012. The year the mortals were abuzz with change. They were having all sorts of clashes around the world and revolutions changed the globe forever. Today's youth were dreamers; true seekers of social freedom. The world had only very recently become a place of passion again, the masses ready for the next renaissance into enlightenment. It was that time, wasn't it?
The lightly tanned woman continued walking casually through the bustling hordes, undisturbed and graceful. She embraced the glow of the lights and her hazel eyes flashed briefly at the stores, taking in the essence of Tokyo in radiated bursts.
The energy was particularly high due to large numbers of non-humans. They were those who had broken through the seal, the mind-haze that Humans had been cursed (and, curiously, blessed) with. The more aware races lit the street like so many glowing fire-forms, warm to her own aura as she passed close to them.
A chubby oriental shapeshifter, a fair-haired Draconian male passing well for Human without his Dragon to spook people off, an Angel with a cat. The glowing woman saw all of them, a smile tickling the pearlies of her mouth.
Something soft suddenly silked past her left leg, awakening her to the fact that she had gotten carried away and stopped walking to enjoy it all. She looked down, smiling a third from her own silliness, a third from the afterglow of Tokyo nights, and a third from the white feline that had attended the Angel. It was simply gorgeous. Ishtara loved the look of white felines and couldn't resist picking it up like it was her own. The cat wouldn't be so senseless as to scratch the soft Goddess. That was a Human blindness.
Cooing as she stroked the cat's plush fur, she turned on heel to look for the Angel that she had passed earlier and honed in on a dining place that had her particular aura pulsing from the inside of the windows. Ishtara promptly tread across the street, rubbing, scratching, and petting the animal in her arms delightedly. The Goddess' arms moved gingerly as she shifted her purring mammalian friend to open the door.
A bell rang from overhead and the hazel eyes instantly found the girl in question. The feline had no trouble, either, and leapt coolly to the floor. A weave and a bob passed and the cat was at the Angel's feet, pawing softly at her ankle. However, before the Angel could have moved to sweep up her friend, the cat had vanished from her side and pranced it's way back to the Goddess and jumped onto a table she was standing next to.
The owner of the establishment didn't particularly care for this and Ishtara was immediately barraged by an array of less-than-dignified yells to get her cat off of the table. She swiftly hoisted the cat to avoid further conflict and let out a warm, snickering smile to the Angel she'd come to return the cat to. The hems of the turquoise and sapphire dress swayed beautifully in the red lights of the interior, throwing purple, blue, and red hues in various directions as the cat-laden woman danced around the tables effortlessly to present the feline to it's rightful owner.
"Your cat started rubbing on my leg," she said, offering the silky animal to the other. She scratched the chin to a loud purr and giggled at it. "He's a beautiful creature and wasn't any trouble." She added with a smile to cover for the cat. "What's his name?"

Chaos had just ordered her food. She was sipping on her soft drink when the the bell at the front door chimed, signaling another customer. Normal thing...except it wasn't. That was a very strong presence walking through the door. In fact, Chaos nearly choked on her drink from the power emanating off of the being. She turned and watched as at least four supernatural beings acted as mice and scattered.
Chaos looked towards the door only to have fur rub against her foot. She looked down to see Callisto, and tried to pick her up. The cat ran back from the way she came. Chaos let her eyes follow Callisto's path as she made her way to a woman who was just radiating power as well as beauty. She had rich, deep, auburn curls cascading past her shoulders and bright hazel eyes. A blemish free and pale complexion. She was wearing a colorful dress, that looked very gossamer, of reds and blues and purples all swirled together.
Chaos stared at the woman. She was ethereal and god-like. She paused in breath. She looked almost exactly like her paintings yet they didn't do her justice. She's not sure there was a being out there who could capture a this goddess's full beauty. Ishtara Aubym. Chaos had worshiped her ever since she was little. Chaos watched as she picked up Callisto off of a table and gave Chaos a smile. Chaos gave a tentative smile back. Being in the presence of a goddess wasn't something she did everyday.
Chaos rubbed the back of her head, embarrassed. She took the white feline from the goddess, setting her on the seat beside herself. "Thanks, hope she wasn't too much of a bother. Her name's Callisto. She's more of her own person, sometimes it feels like I'm the pet." Chaos said laughing while absentmindedly petting the cat. "You seem to have a knack for clearing a room." She said as she noticed the empty tables of the supernatural beings scurrying out.

A snickering giggle came through the bared, smiling teeth of the Goddess like water running over crystal at the Angel's joke. "Cat's do have that sense of superiority and air about them, don't they?" Ishtara agreed gayly. Angels could be such sweets. Indeed one of her favorite heroes had been a particularly good-hearted Angel named-- ah, but it didn't matter... so far, she liked this girl.
"Most beautiful," Ishtara translated, scratching the moonglow white chin. "And so she is." She stopped playing with the cat at it's owner's final statement. "Don't worry, we're not alone." She said with a glance behind the counter. Her curls bounced back to present the Goddess' face to Chaos yet again. "Mind if I join you for something to eat? I don't eat on this--" Ishtara coughed. "Excuse me. I haven't eaten in this neighborhood before." She corrected herself. "What are you having, if I may?"

The goddess scratched under Callisto's chin and the cat leaned into the touch and purred contently. Chaos smirked. If there was one thing Callisto loved, it was attention. She wanted to be showered with it 24/7. Chaos could understand the feeling.
Most beautiful, Callisto really was. Chaos had to agree. The albino feline had just a natural aura of beauty surrounding her like a goddess; like Ishtara. Chaos remembered when she had first found the small feline. Well she didn't really find her, Callisto just kind of showed up. One day she was just sitting in front of Chaos's apartment She had moved the cat gently away and walked in. She finally brought the cat in a week later when Callisto had been sitting at her door everyday since.
Chaos actually named her Callisto from one of her favorite Greek mythology stories. The story about poor Callisto, one of Artemis's hunters, had been exiled because of Zeus. She had always had a soft spot for the being. And the translation fit perfectly with the white cat, both looks and personality.
"She really is. We've been together for about two years now. Better company then some people's." Chaos said rubbing the cat's ear affectionately. She look down at he food at the goddess's comment. "It's just tempura. They serve really good food here, so you could choose almost anything and be satisfied." Chaos said.

"I just so happen to like tempura," confessed Ishtara with a smile before whirling around and swaying towards the questionably-colored counter. "One more tempura over there." She commanded gently with a point towards the cat and Angel's table. The man hollered back at one of the cook boys before turning and stating the price. Ishtara blushed and glanced over her shoulder at the girl, embarrassed. "Um... I don't think I have any money on me, actually...." She trailed off a moment, looking thoughtful and then raised a finger to the irritable man she was dealing with. "One moment." He opened his mouth to protest but the Goddess was already traipsing back to the table.
Ishtara stopped right in front of the mortal, back hiding what she was doing. "It seems I need some money for this establishment." she explained before she reached out and grabbed the Angel's hand. She smiled at the Angel and commented, "I needed something to block the view." Her hand pulled away and a wad of cash was suddenly present. Smiling a brilliant smile with flashing eyes, she let out a knowing giggle. "Thanks!" Ishtara returned to the counter and paid, received her tempura, and wove her way back to the table yet again before lowering herself to the seat. "So do you live here?"

Chaos watched as the goddess strolled over and ordered tempura for herself. Words were exchanged and Ishtara returned, grabbing Chaos's hand and giving her a smile. As a reflex Chaos had pulled back a bit, but the the woman's grip was firm, not overly so, but enough to make her pause. Two seconds later, she pulled back with a wad of cash and returned to the counter.
Chaos shrugged and sat back down, picking at the tempura, not interested in eating much anymore. Callisto, on the other hand, must have been hungry because she stole a piece, rolling it off the plate and towards herself with a white paw. Chaos smiled, shaking her head. She looked away as Ishtara sat down and began eating, but not before asking if Chaos lived in Tokyo.
"Yeah, for now at least. I might move soon." Sooner than she'd like. Despite the fact that she just got here, and that Tokyo was huge and full of supernatural beings, Chaos had been here far too many times. It was a good place to hide, but the Archangels weren't getting any dumber, and Tokyo wasn't getting any bigger. Every time she came here, her stay was shorter and shorter. Last time Chaos only stayed for about a month. This time, she'd be lucky if she got three weeks. and after that, one week.
She was frustrated just thinking about it. There were only so many places she could hide from them before they finally caught up with her. She didn't even see why they wanted to considering that half of the clan didn't want her and the other half didn't care. She didn't feel like dwelling on the thoughts so she looked at the goddess, gazing at the woman's ethereal beauty for a minute before speaking.

"Not long." Ishtara answered, taking a single bit of her food before pushing it aside. "You're right, it is good." Ishtara smiled, though if one were to pay very close attention, they might catch a glimpse of sorrow in her demeanor. The Goddess looked about the room, taking everything in before resting her eyes on her partner in conversation. "You know, you've got problems." She kept her eyes locked on the Angel moment before inhaling sharply and adding, "But, so do I. Yes, I. A Goddess has problems." She laughed inwardly, though her expression was solemn. Ironic that a semi-omnipotent being had more problems than a mortal did. A tear fell slowly down her face and she was sure that Chaos couldn't be comfortable. "You know, I thought all I wanted was to get back at Him... Forgery?" She let out a strained laugh as she wiped her tears away, head shaking, "But after I got out of that damnable place... After I escaped his imprisonment and saw him it was even worse than being in the Tree. The worst part was knowing that He really didn't care fore me any longer." She looked at the Angel through teary eyes, lovely jaw set determinedly. I simply cannot serve my purpose any longer. I can't do it. You must take my place." Ishtara stood, oblivious to everything around her, and kissed the Angel's forehead gently. The room was filled with swarming lights as the power of Ishtara Aubym was transferred to this new host and an ear-assaulting screech/sucking noise could be heard for kilometers around. Ishtara kept her lips on Chaos' forehead for a moment after the noise had ceased and everyone sat there in confusion and fear. Ishtara whispered, lips still pressed, "Best wishes, Elect. My love and heart to you." As soon as Ishtara's lips ceased to touch Chaos, she disintegrated and the restaurant they had been in exploded, killing everyone within save for the new Immortal of Truth.

Chaos watched as the goddess barely took a bite out of her food before pushing the plate away. She smiled, but it seemed off. she couldn't put her finger on it and before she could try for more than a few moments Ishtara began speaking again.
She briefly mentioned Chaos's problems, noting that she had some. Chaos didn't think the goddess would even care, after all from her point of view it probably looked like avoiding family and that's it. But, the way she said it made it sound as if she knew just how deep the roots to Chaos's problems went. It made her nervous and she fidgeted slightly in her seat.
She moved to another topic, one she used of voice of barely contained pain and sadness. This time she spoke of....Forgery, the infamous god of deception. Tears ran down Ishtara's smooth skin, running over her cheeks and dripping. To see a goddess cry, it broke Chaos's heart just to watch. She talked of escaping and how things were worse than before, and something about a tree? Then Ishtara said that Chaos had to take her place.
Chaos was beyond confused at the situation. She didn't understand what the brunette meant. So when the goddess stood and leaned over to her, Chaos couldn't help but lean back to evade contact. This didn't dishearten Ishtara as she placed her lips on Chaos's forehead. What she felt was indescribable.
She caught her breath sharply and everything around her seemed to stop for what seemed like hours but was probably nothing more than a few moments. And during this moment a sort of distorted screech pierced the air, so sharp she could have winced. She felt her entire body tingle with electricity as if she was being lit up like a Christmas tree. He head pounded fiercely and she couldn't catch her breath. She felt as if she was hit with 300 pounds of pressure.
And then....it was over. The screeching, pounding, lack of breath, and pressure. All gone. Chaos lay on her back amongst debris from the now destroyed restaurant, the faint metallic smell she knew all too well flooded in, seeping into the wooden floor underneath her. Chaos turned her head just in time to see the most beautiful being she had ever seen disintegrate as if she was turned to dust and blown away. A tear slid down her cheek. She knew what had happened and she knew what Ishtara Aubym had bestowed on her. Now all that was left was to see if Chaos could handle being the new goddess of truth. Her body still tingled.
