Blood floated around Callan’s face, a few droplets sticking while the rest escaped her. Before too many could merge into the waters, she caught them with her tongue, quickly darting it out to do so. She licked her red lips, savouring in the taste, before sinking her sharp teeth into the fish in her hands once more. She soon finished the meager meal, having picked it clean to the very bone. It had been absolutely delicious, raw and all. Licking the last of the blood from her face, she let go off the remaining bones, watching them sink into the inky blackness of the bottom of the ocean.
Her strong black tail moved quickly, swerving from side to side with powerful strokes, bringing her away from the scene. Eating meat tended to attract sharks, and although the possibility was low, due to the smallness of her meal, she had no wish to risk it. She merely swam away, the scenery never changing, simply dark black waters. Sometimes the blurry form of nearby coral could be seen, or the quick darting motion of a fish, but her appetite was sated, so she ignored them. Eventually the water lightened somewhat, and she rose a bit closer to the surface.
She could hear distorted sound, and knew she was close to shore. Her people lived far from here, back into the inky depths, not wanting to venture too close, but Callan was not like them. As much as she adored sinking human ships, and killing them, she also liked to see their habitat. She liked observing species, like the humans would do at their zoos. She did not dare go any closer, not here, and not in her current form or attire. She had learned that humans thought her clothing was quite odd, especially with a nude lower half as she had no need to cover it in a mermaid form. So she had taken some of their clothes, and stored it on shore, carefully hidden.
Swimming more westwards, were the white sandy beaches turned to rocky ground, and the noise lessened until she was far from town, she finally peaked her head above the surface. Her dark hair clung damply to her pale face as her obsidian eyes scanned for signs of intelligent life. Spotting none, she climbed to shore, becoming ‘human’ as she did so. Half-naked, and her other half only draped in a homemade assemble of fishnets, seaweed and other various scraps of materials, she went over to a dead tree, carefully sticking her hand inside and patting around. Her fingers touched cloth, and her fist closed around it as she pulled it out.
Soon, she was dressed in normal human attire. A set of khakis, along with a t-shirt over a bathing suit. That is what she saw many humans wear around this area, so that is why she had stolen it. She set herself to walking, headed back towards the town and the beach. She did not have much time before her lungs shrivelled from the lack of moisture, but she planned on enjoying the short moment until then.

By the time Krii had gotten there the scent was already gone and a shame at that considering he had heard rumours of what came to pass if such strong smells hit the nose in certain locations plotted around the ocean's surface, at the time it was a powerful smell of fish and salt but by the time he attempted to follow the scent it had already left him.
He rented a boat with the money had had earned by working part-time at the nearby town for the talk of fish-folk brought his attention to the area, a well travelled man such as himself versed in mythology and tales searches for all aspects of life and that includes creatures of lore a subject he is very familiar in and curious about to see in person. The skies were cloudy and caused the ocean’s face to darken giving the atmosphere that a scene from Jaws was going to come to life, his creaky boat whizzed making that annoying, loud hum of a human sized bee buzzing along and such a noise only make his facial expression falter in the ‘happy’ department, “Why did I get the bigger boat” he questioned himself as he continued to whizz making small hops whilst waves occurred.
The clouds parted after a while allowing some sunshine to hit Krii’s sight and the ocean looking more welcoming than before this time beckoning those who crossed her face to jump in and have a good time in her call, refreshing waters. It only took Krii at this point in time a few minutes to get back to the small, rotten wood docks, tie up the boat with what rope he was given and jump out to dust the remnants of splintered timber that landed on his lap whilst he cruised out there for any signs of ‘said’ fish-folk or what most refer as Mermaids.
He stood at the edge of the docks shaking his head to free the wooden splinters that managed to get into his dark hair that so loved to shift from a honey-suckle brown to ebony when it had gotten wet, dusting off his jeans that held his legs in a comforting fact, the excess cloth sat at the top of his black, comfortable, easy-to-walk-and-run-in trainers, his white T-shirt hugged his torso and was covered over with a black, smart jacket with silver zippers, a red in-line and gentle wool that kept the warm in when zipped up.
Krii was more than disappointed not to had caught up to what he thought was a Mermaid, the mere smell made him happy to know that at least some rumours were true. He strolled off the docks, his hands kept inside the confines of his pockets and with one swift movement of the hand he threw on a pair of sunglasses as to hide the redness in one of his eyes, he kept his true identity an easy secret considering there are many deficiencies with ‘Mans’ body that it’s easy to make a new made up name for a problem with a body part in this case the eye.
The young male swiftly made his way along the beach but caught a glance of a female that also seemed to be heading into town, however he still kept to himself as always being the ‘stranger’ in town, he took one more glance at the attractive beauty, then as always gazed forwards and walked up the stony stairs that led to a road with a crossing, once there the town was in plain sight.
"You humans are always talking about hearts. It’s as if you have them in your hand. But my eye sees everything. Nothing can escape it. What it doesn’t see doesn’t exist. That’s how I’ve always fought. That's how I've always lived. What is a heart? If I rip open your chest, will I find it there? If I crack open your skull, will I find it there?"

Kyrian ran a hand through his hair, a thoughtful expression on his face. He had come to this place looking to follow up on reported cases of 'fish-people' who had been spotted out at sea near the city. This kind of excursion always interested him, and so he had decided to come here to see if the rumors were true. He had questioned the citizens and discovered that most of them described a similar mermaid; a young female with a black tail and scarlet lips. After gathering this information, he went out to rent a boat and go sailing in search of the mermaid, however he had no money.
Kyrian also faced another problem in searching for the source of the rumors... He had no idea what mermaids were like. Of course, he wanted to find a mermaid and have a nice chat with it and figure out what they were like. Yet, even with a goal and determination, it was impossible to hunt for something without knowing anything about it. After realizing that his whole plan was a failure and that he had wasted time by coming here, he began to walk back to the town, but instead decided not to waste a good day at the beach.
After spending around two hours swimming and playing around in the sand by himself, the male dusted sand off of his black swimming shorts with purple flower designs and decided to sit back a little ways and watch the serenity of the ocean in the way the waves gently pushed the water onto the beach and then withdrew peacefully. It was in this state of calm that he noticed a woman walking up from the opposite direction of town. Knowing that the woman must have been in that direction for a few hours at least, Kyrian thought that she might possibly know something about the mermaid stories going on and decided to go and question her. "Excuse me, ma'am!" he shouted while briskly towards her.

The day kept shifting between cloudy and perfectly sunny, as if nature was juggling between if it should be a perfect beach day or not. Perhaps nature settled, because the clouds disappeared, leaving the day bright, the sunlight streaming through the leaves. The day was hot, but not in the overly dry way, making it absolutely lovely.
Soon the hard ground became granular sand, and no more trees stood in her way. She walked a bit further, headed for the town. She had only been walking fifteen minutes, but had been completely alone. Until now, when a man came into view, obviously eyeing her for a brief moment before continuing on his path. Usually she would dismiss such matters, but his outfit made him stand out. Not only did he have on full-length pants, which she would probably dismiss as well if it were the only odd thing, but the man was wearing a black jacket. On a beach in Brazil. Surely he was toasting inside of it? Unless he didn’t really notice. Some beings were so odd. And since her attention was set on him, she realized he had a particular scent. One of lust, anger, and other things. She wondered briefly what he would taste like, if she were to rip him open and eat him, but her thoughts were interrupted by another man on the beach. This one also smelled peculiar, but she couldn’t quite place her finger on it. This one was odd-looking as well, with purple eyes and long black hair.
She eyed him, her black eyes quickly flitting over his tall frame. He had to be well over six feet. She gave a smile as a hello, but kept her lips pressed together, instinctively hiding her teeth. She stopped walking to allow him to catch up to her. “Yes? You called me? What do you want?”

Kyrian would suddenly stop about five feet away from the female, feeling a powerful presence within her. This young female was obviously a supernatural as well, so the male looked her over seriously, not noticing any of the small details that her knew from the multiple other creatures he had met with. After growing bored of not knowing what she was, he dismissed it and wondered if she might be searching for the mermaid as well. For now, the best approach was to act normal and continue on as though she were human.
"Umm, I was wondering about something. Do you live around her, because you look like you do. Not trying to force that upon you, but I heard something in the town that I'd like to be clarified." He had no idea what made him so nervous around this female when he had calmly been questioning people since yesterday evening when he got in town. Maybe it was the feeling of blood lust emanating from the female, but he was used to that after dealing with vampires and other, more vicious people. No, what made him nervous was the way it came out. This woman was simply a beast with talking capability, she was not an opponent who he would want to face. Yet, he had to maintain his calm exterior and carry on. "Uhh, well, I've heard rumors of a mermaid around these parts. I was wondering if you knew anything about it, or had possibly spotted one. It seems like you've been further down the coast for a while."
Thinking over it again after saying that revealed something to him. What if this was the mermaid right before him? He had surely never met one before, and had no way of telling them apart from humans when they disguised themselves. Also, he had read about certain groups of mermaids being extremely violent, and sometimes even enjoying in the killing of others. He had to treat this woman with extreme caution until he could figure out more about her. Though, if she was a mermaid, she might accidentally let something slip that would allow him to know. For now, however, he simply waited on a response.

It took a while for Krii’s attention span to notice that the particular female he had glanced towards seemed to have company, the sort which would annoy almost anyone and yet she stood calm and calculated with a standard demeanour. It was like a situation where a person merely walks on the street and a religious man starts yelling at you from afar, telling you that you’re going to Hell and burn in a lake of fire for all eternity for your Sins, in short, annoying.
Though it did make him laugh to himself at the prospect that allowing such a man to approach without turning him away was either a kindness to them, or a curse upon you but the woman would find that out very soon. The Demon would have stuck around to witness the show but he had a job to attend to and odd because of his nature not many Demons would even considering joining human society, not even for a moment or at the expense of their own lives.
The sun was bright and shone down the coasts face to bring a brilliant sparkle on the sandy beaches; cobble stones reflected the light whilst the waters sparkled and the clear skied beckoned life to fill its areas, surely a brilliant day to do some work and then hit the beach for some fun. Unlike a lot of ‘Damned’ beings Krii didn’t see anything wrong in having a little fun on some occasion.
Thus he had something to look forward to and only being in the country for over a week he never took the chance to explore. There were after all many landmarks that would be worthwhile seeing from the ghetto where the underworld crime arenas are held to the gigantic statue that stood on top of the mountain side. Krii pressed his finger at the side of his head in deep thought as to assess what the statue was called, a ponderous motion over took his facial expression as he strained to figure out the name Come on... What are you called?
It took a fair few minutes until he had to give up, looking from left to right in full motions of turning his head he quickly found himself off the beach already and near the roads that led to the nearby town. Krii worked in a cafe there serving food to tables, taking orders and of course sneaking a few bites when the workers were not looking, everyone had to earn a living and considering this was temporary he could earn.
Get a free meal and do whatever he wanted afterwards a result in his favour if there was any. Time passed always marching forwards and it didn’t take long for Krii to get to his job location, take off his black jacket that would seem madness to the normal eye to even wear a jacket in the first place but he had his reasons, then pull out a apron, tie it, march to the back of the counter, let his boss know he made it on time, take his note pad and pen and then walk to the front beginning to take orders from the customers. Krii already ordered a short period be done today and work for half-an-hour, new students were coming in later to take over his work whilst he explored and something he was greatful for. The manager was a tub of lard anyway but a livings a living.
"You humans are always talking about hearts. It’s as if you have them in your hand. But my eye sees everything. Nothing can escape it. What it doesn’t see doesn’t exist. The stranger seemed to make sure there was distance between them, probably trying to make sure she was comfortable with personal space. A courtesy, considering the fact that he had randomly assaulted her with questions. She listened with forced patience, wanting to go to the town, maybe grab a bite of human food, and see some more attractions. Her fingers drummed against her leg as she waited for him to finish speaking.
He thought she was a local? She almost laughed. She wasn’t from land, let alone Brazil. She tended to migrate; she had only been in Brazil for a few months. But the fact that he was asking a mermaid about mermaids without knowing she was a mermaid tickled her amusement. While she had thought of merely saying she had places to go, she thought she would humor him. She raised an eyebrow. “You are in the search of mermaids, huh? Oh yes, the myths are thick in this town. I know plenty; all the locals talk about it. But I am sorry to disappoint you; I have yet to see one in the waters by this shore. I’ve been along most of it, and haven’t seen anything more than fish.”
That wasn’t a lie, to be honest. She was the only one who seemed to go on land, something frowned upon by most. She had been by the shores, but she had been unaware that she had been spotted. She would have to become more careful from now on. But since she was the only one who came to shore, how could she see others?
She turned her thoughts back to the conversation at hand. “I am willing to tell you, but there is a lot to talk about. And I only have a few hours, so I can’t help you on your search. Have you tried a boat? I hear they tend to hang around by caves and cliffs, where the rocks are plenty. Sailors say they see them sitting there.” Well, sailors would say that, but Callen killed them all. Not that this man needed to know. If he decided to go full out in his search, she would only be obeying the laws by killing him. It was half the reason she killed, she had to keep her people a secret. Sure, she hadn’t been doing a good job, but at least she could get rid of the particularly nosy people.

It had only been a little while and yet recent rumours poured in from the locals that feasted within the establishment to where Krii had been working. Still the tales of the mermaid spread like wild fire, news of beauties feign severe injuries upon the rocks that scattered across the coves and cliff sides. Perhaps this was a sick joke as to gain the interest of others or perhaps place fame on themselves for spreading news of an apparent rescue, or was this situation real and that someone or rather something was in need of assistance.
As hard as it may seem a lot of deaths revolved around this part of town and the locals seemed to falter in number, this would be the start of a panic if news kept creeping in at this rate and the last thing Krii needed nor wanted was difficulty just to satisfy a curiosity. This place would be easily raised to the ground due to his mere frustration is an occurrence was to arise.
The male released a tightly lipped sigh whilst cleaning the plates of a finished older couple that were nice enough to leave him a tip and a happy smile of satisfaction, acknowledging the gesture Krii gave a silent but pleasant nod in return whilst he cleaned the slop of mash potato and beans, running off the plate in a slow sickly motion and plopped into the sink, afterwards the Demon turned on the water as the remains of the food slugged into the clogs of the drain.
“Hmm, wonder what I should do after twenty minutes?” He whispered to himself in hushed voices. His gaze placed to two young well-tanned Brazilian teenaged females whose eyes inspected and appreciated the figure that stood before them, speaking to him in their native tongue, Krii shook his head and replied with simple gestures accompanied by words “Sorry, I don’t understand you.” Making it clear whilst he shook his head pointing a finger to his right ear as to say he didn’t speak their language.
They acknowledged and simply replied to Krii’s surprise “Two orders of fries please.” Krii blinked in astonishment and confuse motions as he nodded and turned away to make ready their order “Odd...” He thought to himself whilst his head shook to the right in small motions. The order only took a few minutes and with the food completed and handed over with the exchange of exact change the teens left, one giving a suggestive wink whilst she turned her back and the other giggling to herself like a high school sweet heart, cute considering you would not normally find that.
"You humans are always talking about hearts. It’s as if you have them in your hand. But my eye sees everything. Nothing can escape it. What it doesn’t see doesn’t exist. He waited anxiously, hoping to learn something about mermaids from this female. Upon hearing her speak, he picked up on the fact that she wasn't a native, so that probably meant that she was also here in search of mermaids. If that were to be the case, it would probably be best to team up with her in his search... After all, there was safety in numbers.
The woman seemed to be concerned about something before speaking further about renting out a boat. Afterwards her mood changed and once again became deadly, however he didn't notice due to his own feelings of embarrassment as he responded to her suggestion. "Actually, I have tried a boat. The problem is, uhhh, I don't really have enough money on me. Only enough to pay for a hotel and meals for maybe two, three more days." He smiled apologetically whilst rubbing the back of his neck, obviously ashamed at his current financial situation.
However, even with that, he couldn't let this opportunity slide by him. "Hey, uh, would you like to go and get a bite to eat? I saw you looking in the direction of the town earlier, and I was about to head back anyway." He smiled at the female politely, awaiting a response.

She sighed. She had been in the waters for hours, but had never come across this man in a boat. It was too bad really, as he would have made a more filling meal than that puny fish she had eaten. When he mentioned eating, it made her stomach growl slightly. That fish had been merely to tide her over until she could find something more satisfying, but if he was offering her human food, she might as well take it. Especially if he was wasting her few hours on land. Well, if it was a total waste she would have walked away, but this was still not much of interest, and she was thinking of leaving him soon.
“Then you did not search in the right places. Mermaids, I would assume, are not going to simply swim around in open waters. With boats, fishermen, and sharks, they would have to be pretty stupid beings.” She informed him, her black eyes traveling in the direction of the town. She nodded. “We may go eat. I shall trade you my stories for food. You shall pay.”
Without even waiting for him to agree, she set off walking. Rude, maybe, but it was an easy way to see what choice he would make. If he followed, it would be a yes, and she would get a free meal. If he didn’t, she was walking away and could enjoy the rest of her hours however she pleased. She didn’t even cast a glance behind her as she headed for town, and she did not slow her pace either.
As she approached, she caught that strange scent once more. The one of the man who had passed her by earlier. It seemed to be coming from a restaurant near the edge of town, and she was curious, wondering if she should head in there to see. But it could be dangerous, and she wasn’t one to throw her life away.

The male stepped out out of the water, completely unseen from anybody for which he was grateful for he would not need to soak his cloths or explain why he was completely dry after getting out of the ocean. He walked along the beach, smiling in the nice (to himself) weather. Neither sunny, nor extremely hot. A perfect day over all. He was dressed in a white wife beater shirt with brown jeans upon his legs. Hiking boots encased his feet of a brown and green coloration, while two double barrel pistols named Phobos and Deimos rested upon his hips.
He stopped his walk, spotting a what was obviously a restaurant sitting upon the beach from the smells wafting from the establishment. It was obviously some sort of seafood establishment as well. He glanced around, ready to enter the building then stopped suddenly as his gaze settled upon a female appearing. She was exceedingly fair, and he smiled and walked straight towards her. He stopped a few feet from her and spoke.
"Hello Miss, how are you this beautiful day. May I perhaps ask you for your company inside for a bit to eat? I will pay for you, and it will be my personal treat upon yourself." He smiled warmly at her, extending a hand towards her to take for him to lead her inside.

It wasn’t a bad time to cook, hot chips, batter-covered cod, mushrooms, beans and beacon for one and a medium sized well-done cheese burger with a side order of chips for another, the weather was good enough to allow the heat to last within the restaurants conditions. A clean, decorative and well sized establishment that could hold up to ten tables of patrons, four two seater tables, three four seater tables and three five seater tables all in the mix giving a welcoming natural greeting for anyone who was hungry.
Krii was the chef and the waiter today and as such he did his job efficiently and professionally without rebuttal, though he was leaving today he wouldn’t go without reminding his boss why he hired a Demon for a chef in the first place, the cliché thing to say in a situation would be the condition of the food and why isn’t it nasty or poisonous, the fact was Krii’s food was so good it was unearthly thus gaining a reputation in being one of the finest seaside establishments in this port of Brazil.
Krii approached yet another table with a note pad in hand and pen, “Hello sir and what will you be having today?” Luckily it was a British man from the way he dressed as well as the apparent accent that followed, that and Krii was born (Stole a body) in England thus knowing what the people look and dress like “I’ll have fish fingers and chips please.” Very well sir and a drink?” The patron replied with a supple tone “Diet Cola my good man” good choice sir I won’t be a moment, with that said it only look Krii hardly a few minutes to have everything prepared, made and ready to be served.
The Englishman hardly had enough time to have a good full look at the area before his food was ready, the Demon walked out with his hand held to the side and a small satisfying smile at his own speed whilst he placed the man’s order in front of him, “Here we go sir, enjoy your meal” the patron was astonished and dug into his meal like there was no tomorrow.
Yet another human satisfied Krii thought to himself as he went to the lengthy counter that shut off the rest of the population and guarded where he prepared the foods and made the drinks, his site however was caught by what lay outside. It was the same female who took her time in waiting for what the man was going to say to her, a smile creased the side of his mouth as a small chuckle escaped his lips from amusement, it seemed she managed to drop the man away somewhere and escape, good on her, he thought as he turned away to throw more chips in the frier.

Kyrian frowned as he stepped out of the shadows near the small restaurant, instantly spotting the woman who had caught his interest... However, a new male was talking to her; one who had walked up from the area of the beach. Kyrian walked out from his hiding spot behind the two and headed towards the two. "Hey, got caught up with a phone call... Sorry," he called out, announcing his return, and upon reaching the two he would turn to the other male and extend his hand. "Nice to meet you, the name's Kyrian. I was just about to catch a bite with this lovely young lady, would you care to join us? I'll pay."
Kyrian had noticed that this male was planning on hitting on the female, and though he had no interest in her body, he still wanted to talk with her for a bit. Due to this, he could not let another man swoop in and carry her off before he got what he needed to know. Might as well keep the other man out of his way, but within arm's reach of the female; this way, after he was done, he could leave other with her for flirting.
Post by Callan Serea on Jul 19, 2012 22:33:32 GMT -5
Eyeing the restaurant moment, she debated whenever entering. It would be a pointless act if that other man never followed her, as she was moneyless. Perhaps she should have had the politeness to wait for him. But it seemed some sort of Fate really wanted her to eat there, as another man boldly approached her, asking her out to dinner.
She smiled slightly, liking the attention. It seemed she wouldn’t be hungry today, which was nice. He smelt like the ocean, but there was practically no way he could be a mermaid. Mermaids appeared as human females, even if they were ‘male’, so she wondered why he held such a strong scent of water. Perhaps he was merely a fisher, who spent most of his time on his boat. She had noticed some sailors having smells like that before. Before she could get in a reply or take his hand, the first stranger came in, saying something about a phone call. Her smile turned into a smirk for a brief moment. Maybe what had started as a dinner for two would become a feast of two for her. Then again, she wasn’t one to over-eat. Maybe she would let one live? This sea-smelling man seemed only interested in flirting, while the first man seemed willing to go boating to wherever she directed. Or maybe she would eat none. It’s not like she had a grudge or anything against humans, and found them fascinating, albeit stupid. She ate them because that was merely the way the food chain worked, but sometimes you gave pity to your meals.
The first male introduced himself by name, a courtesy he had failed to extend to her. At least she had something to place him by; as it was getting confusing referring to him as the first male when there was another male. She shrugged. “I don’t care who pays, you guys can sort it out. Maybe we should head inside though?” She asked, talking to Kyrian without realizing her words could be taken as an invitation to the sea-smelling man.

Kyrian smiles and quickly hooked his arm with the female's and walked off towards the sea-side restaurant, not caring whether or not the other male followed behind. He would smile to himself, dreaming of what meeting a mermaid would be like. Being one who liked to meet new and unique friends, he would often dream up what other species would be like.
While walking, he thought about the male they had left behind. He had seemed interested in the female for her looks and began to try and hit on her as soon as he saw her. Idiots like him always ended up pissing Kyrian off, treating women like nothing, just a piece of meat. However, she was a beautiful woman, though it was still no excuse for him to act like that.
The male shook those thoughts out of his head and smiled down at the female he had stolen away. "Oh yeah, I never told you. My name is Kyrian Tidus. It's nice to meet you." He guided her to the restaurant, happy to have a possible lead on the mermaid.
