Tayva hadn't fully expected having to give something in return for the work that he was going to do anyway, so the question obviously came as a surprise to her. But she figured that he couldn't just do the work for nothing. And she did not have any real source of income, so the option of paying for the experiment was out of the question. Still, she couldn't just let this opportunity slip away from her, so all she could hope for was that there was some option that wouldn't involve money
"Well... what would you want? I'm afraid I'm not a very financially-rich person..." she finally asked, trying to think of something she could offer in exchange for his service. All the while she followed his gaze over to Talos, who had changed into a more manageable human form, in case they were to travel to a more populated area. The dragon looked fairly uncomfortable within human skin and clothes, but it was a part of his power that he needed to become more used to. More often were the two beginning to travel through towns and cities, and he couldn't simply waltz in as a 15 foot-tall red lizard with wings and a fiery breath. They had to be much more subtle than that.

Craig thought carefully about her words. He hadn't expected her to be well-off financially and wasn't concerned about that. What he'd been hoping for was... something valuable; he wasn't sure exactly what. He considered it. She was Draconian with few belongings. The only things they could offer him of any interest right now were probably things they wouldn't be willing to give up. She'd offered him the book, which might prove valuable, but it was going to be used to help her anyways. So what could she possibly give him? What could he want? More, what could he ask for?
Craig gently pushed the needle into her vein and began extracting her life force. "You owe me one. When I call on you for help, whatever it is, you'll help." He withdrew the hypodermic needle, pointing it to the sun and flicking it gently. "Deal?" he asked as he withdrew the vial from the device and inserted a new one.

Tayva wasn't sure where to begin on his proposal, as he already began to take a blood sample from her arm. The idea of simply owing him a favour wasn't what bothered her, but rather that he could call on her for anything. It meant that she could become some kind of meat shield, or worse. But what sort of situation could he possibly get into that would require such a dangerous occupation.
"I suppose I can..." she finally reply, knowing that she had been telling herself over and over she wanted this more than anything. If that were the case, then she would have to assume all risks that were to come with it, even if it meant putting her own life into danger. Of course that wasn't something she was all that thrilled about. But the sooner she got this new debt paid off, the better.
Plus she would not be alone on whatever task he was to have her do. She did have Talos after all, and the dragon himself could probably tackle whatever challenge they were supposed to face. At least she hoped so, as a 'favour' could cover almost any little or big thing that he could come up with. Hopefully it wouldn't come to something too violent or out of character.

Craig smiled at her. "Grand!" he said, seeming maybe a little too delighted. He turned to the dark-haired youth now with them. "Now for you." Craig stepped forward and pressed the needle into his vein and the new vial was quickly filled. Craig removed the syringe and took the vial from it before placing both of the filled 30 mL vials into the front pocket of his laptop bag and replaced the syringe in it's former spot. Turning his attention back to the two, Craig addressed them, "I'll need a way to contact you pending my success and when I need you. Do you have a phone? Or a place you visit religiously or something?"
Craig reached into his breastpocket and removed a silk red handkerchief before tying it around Tayva's arm where he'd inserted the needle to stop the dot of blood from continuing to exude. He looked to Nibbles, who had wandered off in boredom and was now sniffing a particularly large tree inquisitively. "It's an interesting creature. Entirely docile, or at least it is when I'm around. Obeys commands and seems to understand them instinctively." Craig shook his head wonderingly. "I can't figure that part out." He looked back to Tayva. "I guess I'll have to do a scan on his brain... see how many neuron connections he's got... maybe figure out how it understands all this stuff."

Talos was visibly disgruntled when he saw the syringe coming his way, moving away visibly as Craig drew near. However Tayva was quick to hurry over to him, to reassure the dragon that it was nothing to worry about. Despite the small sting he would receive from it, the pain was far better than anything else he had probably experienced.
As the blood sample was drawn and removed, and the question about contact had been asked, Tayva frowned in a sudden realization. She didn't really possess any way to contact the outside world, short of visitation of course. The girl had never really found the need for a phone or anything of the sort, for the only people she ever really contacted were her folks, and with them she normally just stopped in whenever she needed to.
"Unfortunately I don't really have a phone. Neither a place that I visit for religious reasons. However we tend to frequent this region more often, as it's Talos' home." Tayva explained, scratching the back of her neck as he applied the silk cloth onto her arm. "I suppose if I need to I could always look into getting a phone or something. It probably wouldn't hurt to at least look into it." Of course if she were to purchase and pay for a phone, she would get caught up in the cycle of human life, having to find some way to pay for it and whatnot, as she was more prone to living off the land than anything else.

Craig nodded. "Sounds good. Let me give you my number." He grabbed his pen from an inside pocket and attempted to write his phone number on Tayva's hand. "Call that number and you'll get a hold of me. Just don't share it with anyone. He clicked his pen and placed it back into his inside breastpocket. "If money becomes a problem, call that number and I'll pay for your phone," he offered, unsure whether her wandering lifestyle would interfere with funds. Regardless, he probably had more of it than her (definitely, he imagined) and wasn't going to risk losing a chance to 'phone-a-friend' for help and have a Dragon come charging in to save the day because he wasn't willing to shell out a hundred bucks a month or whatever it was. "Also, if you need to find me in person, I live in Reno, Nevada. Your best shot would be to find me in my lab. I work for Gattaca there. Look us up or ask someone for directions; you'll find us." He smiled at her, "All clear?"

Tayva watched with her head tilted sideways as the man proceeded to write his number on her hand. She could recall many times before when she would frequent the malls back at home, watching guys and girls pairing off together to go on dates, and the men that attempted to woo some younger girl into giving him her number. Tayva remembered watching as they would write the number onto the hand of the man, rather than doing the sensible thing of writing it on a piece of paper, though not everyone carried scrap paper around for such a thing.
That was back when she was still normal though, back when she was ignorant of the wider world around her. Now she had other things to busy herself with, though the thought of going out with someone was still looming in the back of her hand. As he finished writing the number down, the Draconian took care to shake her hand a couple of times, to allow for the ink that rested on her skin to dry, and keep her from losing the numbers.
"I'll look into getting a phone tomorrow, and I'll call you as soon as I get it so you have my number." Tayva explained with a smile. She had been to the United States a few times, though only for recreational purposes. It would be fun to go with purpose instead for once.

Craig chuckled awkwardly. The girl had a pretty smile. But still, jus a girl, Craig thought suddenly. After thinking this, he cleared his throat quickly and the smile dropped from his face. "I look forward to it," he informed her sincerely. He looked back to Nibbles who seemed to be growing ever more bored with the environment, having sniffed out everything worth sniffing out in the immediate vicinity. Craig chuckled at the meandering creature, head shaking slightly.
"I really need to be going. My pet really needs some training and I'm hardly paying attention to him." Craig leaned in closer dramatically, raising a hand as if whispering an incredible secret. "You see," he said, voice low, "I promised him a special day, just the two of us." Craig let his hand fall and nodded with mock seriousness. "So I'm kind of breaking my word right now. He'll be angry if I don't hurry and I do not/ want him pooping in my slippers again," he joked with her. A bow and a final farewell later and he whistled to Nibbles. "Come on. We're done here." Craig hollered, ready for the day's end, delightful though it was.
