Chimera The Chimaera, who was not a human being, but a goddess, for she had the head of a lion and the tail of a serpent, while her body was that of a goat, and she breathed forth flames of fire; but Bellerophon slew her, for he was guided by signs from heaven.— Homer, The Iliad, VI, 222ff The Chimera is a multi-headed creature from Greek mythology. It has the front body of a lion, including its head; the back of its body is that of a goat, another head of which it possesses; it has the head and wings of a dragon; and finally the long tail of a serpent. All the heads with the exception of the serpent can breathe an inferno of fire. The serpent however possesses a deadly venomous bite. The creature can fly quite fast, however its bulky body prevents it from doing agile maneuvers. Killing the Chimera To kill the Chimera, a party of no more than 5 and no less than 3 must be used. These adventurers must be active throughout the thread. The quest thread should be titled "Hunting the Chimera", be made in Europe, and be at least 50 posts long. Reward If the requirements for killing the Chimera are met, a reward will be distributed to the participants. The otherwise unattainable "Breath of the Chimera" will be added to the inventory of the participants, allowing them to breathe fire without harm from the consumption of the Chimera's milk. One party member (whichever proved most valuable) will be granted the "Pelt of the Chimera"; a wearable hide that protects the wearer from fire and poison. Important Note: Abandoning a quest will result in a penalty, to be determined by the Staff. Examples include a temporary ban on participating in quests, losing points, etc. If a quest is abandoned and the quest no longer meets the minimum requirement of characters, it can be completed with the number as long as at least two members remain, or a volunteer can join the quest.
