Daemons of Rome History The Daemons of Rome have a long-standing heritage. They are the protectors of Rome, Daemons, and Italy, respectively. Founded in the early days of the days of the Roman Kingdom, in 557 B.C. during the reign of Servius Tullius, sixth King of the Roman Kingdom as a secret pre-praetorian protectorate for the Kingdom. After the Kingdom ended and the Republic began, the legislatures of Rome voted to keep the order intact and they continued their quiet sentinel over Rome and it's lands faithfully. After the Roman Republic was shattered, Caesar Augustus found them to have great potential and employed them as a sort of secret, elite Praetorian Guard. At that point in history, it was not limited to Daemons and a few, highly-skilled Humans were allowed into the society. After the fall of the Roman Empire, they kept Rome from disintegration while moving their base of operations to the catacombs of the dead just inside Rome's borders. Through the Dark Ages, with the help of the Holy Roman Catholic Church (ironically), they protected Rome and Italy from serious invasion. After the Dark Ages, they relocated to a building inside of Rome, where they have remained since. Purpose Defend Rome. Avenge Daemons. Protect Italy from outside destruction. Hunt out-of-control supernaturals that threaten the balance of power in the world. Requirements Must be of the Daemon race or of an acceptable daemon mixed-breed race. Ranks Leader: Vox Popularis - Elected by the Council of Daemons (the Manus and Digiti Deus) Sub-Leader: Manus Elders: Digiti Deus Trusteds: Magister - One of each Specialization Members: Hominem - Specialties may be begun. Specializations The Daemons of Rome, through their lengthy history, have discovered it to be most effective if various members of theirs had different skillsets. They have thus created "Specializations" which are particular learning courses to help Daemons be highly efficient in whatever it is they seek to function as. It is voluntary, but also a requirement for one to become a Magister. The three types of Specializations are: Influencers, Assassins, and Priests. Assassins: Daemon Assassins are the most reknowned of Specializations and the most popular among Daemons. They are the ones that actually go and fight for the Daemons of Rome. Daemons are particularly efficient at this task and a majority of Vox Popularis' had specialized as a Daemon Assassin. Those becoming Daemon Assassins generally take many fighting art sessions, anatomy classes. They have the bonus to be able to memorize the weaknesses of the various races of Earth, both psychological and physical, and learn to exploit those failings due to their psychology courses. Influencers: The path of the Influencer is the second most popular path of the Daemons of Rome. They are those who seek to better the world for Daemons through wit, strategy, and political suave. As a result, those following this specialty take many history, literature, political science, and speech courses to improve their effectiveness. They also focus on self-defense techniques and fighting tactics to protect themselves from those who want them dead. They have the bonus of being able to resist any ability that may be ignored with any level of intelligence. This is due to the fact that Influencers have trained their minds, and have reached their peak. Houngans/Mambos (M/F): The least popular of the Daemon specialties are the Houngans (or Mambos for the female aspect of the specialty). These are priest-like figures for the Daemons of Rome and the most erratic. Before the Roman Empire, Houngans were held in high regard and actually rather popular. Since then, the Gods have been mostly forgotten and therefore, Houngans and Mambos are sparse. If one were to seek to honour the Gods as a Houngan/Mambo, they would spend years studying such things as astrology, theology, alchemy, and the proper ways of honouring, addressing, and praying to the Gods. They have the bonus to call upon the Hysteria of any God- patron or not- if they have purchased the ability due to their unyielding loyalty to the various Gods. |
