Chlorai Overview Walking, talking, human plants, the Chlora are a strange and interesting species. They come in a variety of different shades and colors, from bark brown to rose red- albeit those in greens and browns tend to be more numerous, as they are provided with more opportunity for camouflage, and avoid predators easier. Although it may appear so, Chlorai possess no hair on their bodies, instead growing a variety of different things on their head such as bark, leaves, petals, vines, and fungus caps. Chlorai have no need for food, for they possess chlorophyll in their skin. A Chlora needs at least eight hours of direct exposure to sunlight (or U.V rays, for cloudy and rainy days) to avoid death. They craft armor and clothing from bark, vines and leaves, but cannot cover all of their skin due to their need for sunlight. Despite their plant-like appearance and use of chlorophyll, Chlorai are still beings made of skin, meat and bone, like a human, and have blood- as well as a larger amount of water in their bodies. Chlorai may only produce three offspring in their lifetime. They mature surprisingly quickly, and are full grown in four to five years; however, during those years, they require even more sunlight and water than usual. If one would be searching for a Chlora, looking for an area with a wooded region that is flourishing much better then it neighboring regions is a sure way to start. Chlorai live in harmony with their environment, unlike their cousin species the humans. They help plants grow, and even help prevent the extinction of any species- prey or predator. They are a religious species, worshipping the Goddess Nysa- the spirit of the island. They have many myths, and are quite well-versed on the subject. The Chlora are a fairly pacifistic species, but one should beware- they are great warriors, fighting the most dangerous species on the island to remain alive. They are known to possess harmful screams, causing many to nickname the species ‘The Mandrake’, although do not like harming any beings unless absolutely necessary. Once at an elder stage, ancients have two choices, they can remain in a locomotive state, wandering around and explore while helping the forests they love so much. Or they can reenter a sedentary life style and become an enormous tree. The choice is purely personal, governed by the chlorai’s own thoughts and feelings. Many who feel accomplished and like they have completed their goals perform this while those who feel as if they have not learned enough or failed to complete their goals in life will remain in a human form and continue to travel. Chlorai are know to live up to 5000 years old in their locomotive form, but become immortal in their sedentary form. Innate Abilities Chlorai have the natural ability to grow plants with 'Green Thumb'. They also have a wailing voice, which can hurt people, known as 'Sonic Pitch'.
