When Chaos laughed it made Sol want to laugh. He had always had trouble with such things. Laughter was infectious to Sol and whenever he heard another person laugh, he felt compelled to do so as well but instead he just smiled.
[glow=red,2,300]"I dont know whether to feel offended or... just laugh."[/glow] Sol said in all honesty.
[glow=red,2,300]"having a permanent home is like having hope. One always knows that they have a place to return to, a place where they can rest peacfully. It gives me something to look forward to. Its cold, dark, and quiet. The solitude helps me think."[/glow]
Sol closed his eyes, trying to remember his home. It had been ideal to him, perfect in a sense. Now he couldnt even visit the city it was located in...
"Is this all!?"The young demon screamed to the heavens"Is this all I am!? "Just laugh." Chaos said with smile.
As Sol explained what home felt like, Chaos felt a pull inside her. Like someone was tugging on her heart strings. She longed to have a home, she knew it. And no matter how deep she buried that longing, it was always there. She sighed. However, it was sort of nice, to know that there was something that Sol could hold on to. Even if he couldn't be there, it would always be there. Not his whole life had been bad.
Chaos looked over at him. He looked so sad, so...so....she couldn't even explain. It was like someone had crushed everything he had ever stood for. Despite her better judgment and common sense, she leaned towards him. She placed a hand on his knee in a sign of comfort and gave him a small smile, praying that she wasn't crossing any lines.
"I'm sure you'll be back there soon. I mean its your home, no one can keep you out forever. There's still time." She said softly, however, she felt like a sham. She didn't know the situation or how he could possibly feel. All she could do was offer comforting words that were as honest as she could make them.

Sol laughed, just a little. The laughter came to him, but it came only with great difficulty. Whenever he truly thought how he had been practically exiled from his home he felt horrible. He missed it more than anything.
The centuries that had gone into building his home just right felt wasted. Part of Sol's very being had gone into establishing his home and at the moment he was seperated from it. Sol felt incomplete, unwhole.
[glow=red,2,300]"I may be back there soon or I may not be. It depends upon the whims of the gods. Literally. Maybe soon they will decide I have suffered enough. Maybe my blood will be a delicious nectar like substance forever."[/glow]

Chaos frowned. "I can't understand how you feel. Never been attached and all, but I know for a fact that gods can be very merciful. There are thousands of being here who deserve worse. The gods have bigger things to worry about then cursing you for all eternity. It's a waste of power." She said slightly upset. She hated feeling helpless to help her friends. Even her words seemed useless to her.
She was an angel for crying out loud! She wasn't perfect, but she was still good. She was a natural healer! So why couldn't she help Sol? Healing had been useless most of her life, but the one time she wish she could heal, she had no power. Sh didn't even know what to heal. She just wanted Sol to feel better. However, she knew, more than most, that wanting is never enough.
"There's only so much you can do, you can not erase someone's pain, just like you can not erase any other emotion. They're there for a reason, sometimes not yet understood."
"When's the last time you were in Detroit?" Chaos finally asked.
Post by Solemn Creed on Feb 18, 2012 4:44:22 GMT -5
Sol shrugged. [glow=red,2,300]"Of course you cant understand how I feel, but your lack of personal attatchments has nothing to do with it although they may play a minor role. The gods will do as they wish. I have never known them to be merciful. It took a whim to curse me and it would take a whim to uncurse me."[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]" Like you said, Im not top priority to them so they've probably forgotten about me. If this is true then my curse will never be lifted."[/glow]
For a minute Sol's face twisted up with frustration. He hated being at the mercy of the gods or anything for that matter.
[glow=red,2,300]"The last time I was in Detroit was... i dont know when. It was a while ago but I have a poor sense of time. It could have been weeks, months, or years."[/glow]

Chaos cursed herself. Her way with wording was absolutely phenomenal. God, she was so stupid. "I-I didn't mean it like that. I was trying to- god. My powers as a healer are sufficiently lacking. I've never done the whole 'things will get better' speech. Not really a motivational friend." She said grimacing.
Naturally as a angel, Chaos worshiped someone. Unlike what Christians thought, angels didn't all work for one god. Every angel could worship someone different. Chaos happened to worship Ishtara Aubym. And she decided at that moment, she would pray for Sol every night, making sure the gods, or at least Ishtara, didn't forget about him. It wasn't much and a god answering a prayer was pretty rare, but she could try. And maybe even that would make a small difference.
"I'm always conscious of what time it is and what day. I can't help it. It's cause...Giovanni's birthday comes up in April and I always celebrate it. Besides that I don't have much use for the time." Chaos said. However, she was glad for Giovanni's birthday. She would feel like she was wasting away if you couldn't remember the dates.

Sol's face softened when he saw Chaos' reaction. He hadnt meant to make her feel bad in any way. [glow=red,2,300]"I know you did not mean it like that. The problem is not with you it is with me. I am responsible for my problem and just because you cant fix it doesnt mean there is anything wrong, or lacking, with you."[/glow]
Sol was essentially immortal. Not unkillable but if he played his cards right he had the potential to live for a ver long yet unkown amount of time, perhaps forever. Time was only important to him because of the ties he has with the all too mortal beings around him.
[glow=red,2,300]"I have lived a very long time, Chaos, and I will live for much longer still. To me, time has very little meaning. I live day to day and for something like me that will probably never die, what is a few days, weeks even?"[/glow]

Chaos scrunched up her nose. "Jeez, I know you're a lot older than me, but please don't act like it. You only look like you're a couple years older than me. How old are you? Like an actual number, not just 'old enough'."
Chaos was very curious about Sol's age. He looked like he could still be in college, yet he talked like he had lived for hundreds of years. She also didn't like the way he was unintentionally looking down at her. She know he didn't mean to, but she didn't like it. It made her feel not at his level, which she probably wasn't, but she could at least pretend. She knew she was young.
"Do you even know when your birthday is?" Chaos asked now that she thought about it. If he had no sense of time, did he even know his own birthday? Did he celebrate it? Did anybody? Chaos celebrated her own birthday with her cat Callisto. Speaking of Callisto. "Did I leave my balcony door open?" Chaos asked herself thinking about the last time she was in Paris.

Sol wanted to laugh at the expression on Chaos' face but he knew that it probably wasnt the wisest thing to do.
[glow=red,2,300]"I am alot older than you but honestly it doesnt matter much. My appearance is pretty much stuck at age 19 but in truth Im much older than that."[/glow]
Sol thought for a moment. It was hard to remember his actual age. He was pretty old, only a few centuries from a millenia. Or was it a few after. Sol searched his mind untill he came to a rough estimate.
[glow=red,2,300]"Im around... I think i am about eight centuries old or so... According to the Gregorian calendar my birthday should be around the ninth of September."[/glow]
After a few moments Sol nodded. Yes this feels correct he thought.
[glow=red,2,300]"When is your birthday, and what balcony door?"[/glow]
"Is this all!?"The young demon screamed to the heavens"Is this all I am!? Chaos stared. She was pretty sure he just said eight centuries. And there was 100 years in a century right? That would make him roughly around 800. That was...that was a lot older than her. She suddenly felt like a two-year-old compared to him. She pouted at him.
"Not fair! You're a lot older than me!" Then she laughed. "Ha, birthday presents are gonna be so much fun."
The fact that he was so much older than her didn't really bother her. She knew she was very young, especially compared to most angels. In human eyes, she was considered independent, but as an angel, she was still seen as a kid. In the non-human world, Chaos was a toddler where Sol was an adult. Yet, he treated her like she was on equal standing and that was enough for her.
"I blow out candles on the 3rd of June. It seems like such an odd birthday. When I was little I used to cut my age in half because 3/6 is really 1/2. So I'm not really 19 as much as I'm 9.5." Chaos said laughing at the thought. Her mom hated it when she did that. She turned her attention to Sol's other question and blushed for talking to herself and getting caught. "I think I left my balcony door left open in Paris. Callisto likes to wander around, so i leave it open, but if it rains my apartment's gonna be a mess."

Sol shrugged. He wasnt very old. If his old people were still alive he would be considered, by them, barely a young adult. Sol was relatively young by his own standards. To him old would be several thousand years which is pretty ancient.
[glow=red,2,300]"Of course Im older than you. Demons usually live really long or die really young. There isnt much of a middle ground."[/glow]
Sol nodded when Chaos told him her birthday although he quickly forgot. Birthdays didnt mean much to him. They were just meaningless dates in his opinion. He only remembered his own because he felt strange on the day.
[glow=red,2,300]"I dont have very much left to talk about. Do you have anymore questions?"[/glow]

Chaos shrugged. He didn't really finish his story, but she supposed it could be told another day. She glanced outside. The sun was up and light filtered through the window. The snow fell quietly, calm after the storm. She smiled. It was peaceful really. Something that she hadn't seen these past few days.
"I guess not. I'm actually pretty tired now. How long are we going to be here?"Chaos asked Sol.
She wasn't sure she could get home. They were pretty far up north. She was afraid if she tried to fly, she her wings would freeze in the weather. She would plummet into the ocean. That would be very, very bad. If she didn't die form the wall, she would drown. On the other hand, Sol couldn't go back due to his curse. Chaos didn't know where they were or how far they were from civilization. It would be a pain to walk very far, but she could manage if walking was all that it was. She thinks. She was suddenly very tired. Chaos turned over and fell asleep, not even catching Sol's answer.

Sol thought for a moment. He had taken her to northern Cnanda across the Atlantic ocean to talk and save her from the poison but he hadnt planned what to do afterwards.
[glow=red,2,300]"It was never my intention to keep you here. If you want to leave I could always take you back to Paris. The cold wont freeze my wings and I would not wish to keep you against your will."[/glow]
Sol glanced back at the fire and he looked back at Chaos.
[glow=red,2,300]"If you are ready to leave I will take you wherever you want to go. So where do you want me to take you? Would you like me to take you back to Paris, or would you like to go somewhere else?"[/glow]

Chaos didn't really know. She knew she had to go back to Paris, so if she was leaving that's where she would be going. However, that wasn't the issue. The issue was that she wasn't sure she wanted to leave. She felt very...real here. She didn't feel like she was going through the motions of life, just wasting away. Paris, was simply a distraction. A place she tried to call home. However, it wasn't home.
Before Chaos could answer, she was hit with a sudden feeling. She froze. It wasn't good. It was a very, very bad feeling. It was like something bad was about to happen. And it was going to be fast. And it was going the be unexpected. She listened intently and the feeling grew into one of fear as she heard the rustling of a tree outside. It was very weak, but it was there all the same. She turned to Sol.
"Sol...I thin-!" Chaos didn't get to finish as the door busted opened. Men dressed in white filed in, moving quickly and officially.
Chaos spotted a familiar face and jumped out of the bed so fast. She headed for the window and was seized by two men. One came up in front off her and she threw her leg up, hearing a satisfying crack. He fell clutching his face. She thrashed and fought the two men holding her arms, but there hold was strong. She saw out of the corner of her eye, more men head towards Sol. She shot a glare to the man at the door.
"Damen" Chaos hissed. The man smirked coming forward. He caught her leg and brought a hand to her face. When she turned in disgust he gripped her chin tightly.
"Chaos, lovely Chaos. You just can't do right can you. Sleeping with the enemy. Even I thought you had better taste then that."
"My business is mine and mine alone. It holds no concern for you." Chaos spit, yet despite her confident words she felt a coil of fear tightening in her stomach, she might throw up.
"It's not just your business anymore. As second in command of the clan, I am here to retrieve you. You, Chaos Mordecai, are hereby sentenced to be stripped of your wings." Damen spoke words Chaos had been dreading. Her face drained of all the color and her eyes widened.

Sol was admiring the dancing ever changing forms of the flames when Chaos attempted to shout a warning. Sol frowned and turned towards her in time to see several men dressed in white burst through the door.
Two of them grabbed Chaos while two more headed for Sol. Sol casually reached up and brushed a few stray strands of hair back from his face as they charged towards him. He braced himself and when they collided into him he barely moved and inch while they bounced backwards, slightly off balance. Sol punched out with his fist, reducing the nose of the man to his left into pulped cartelidge and a bloody smear across his face.
Sol laughed. Then he heard the one referred to as Damon say they were going to strip Chaos of her wings and his face grew serious.
