Kyrian yawned loudly as he sat up in the grass and stretched. Outdoors was his favorite place to sleep, especially large natural areas that rarely saw human visitation. So national or state parks made great spots as long as he stayed away from the tourist sights. Right now, the darkness elemental was currently resting beneath a tree close to Russell Lake in Michigan, not that far off from Lake Saint Helen, a little bit under a mile away from its slightly famous neighbor.
It was a beautiful morning on the eve of winter with the cool, crisp breezes rolling through the air. Amazing how this lake was such a secluded spot, well not really when taking into consideration that all the action happened in the eastern section of St. Hel, and he was across the way from the western side. He gazed out at the beautiful water and scolded himself slightly as he thought about swimming in it, already haven nearly frozen his 'nads off hopping into it yesterday. It was truly getting cold with his American thanksgiving just around the corner and the Canadian one right behind him.
On a lazy, cold day like this, Kyrian could be sure of his safety. After all, what form of weirdo would go to play in a lake on such a cool day?

If it hadn't been for the warmth of her draconic companion, Tayva would have scolded herself for not having a coat on hand. However as a fire dragon, he was quite warm, especially through the winter when the weather was at its coldest. The mountains that he had called home were normally cold anyway, so it felt no different for him. Tayva on the other hand had been complaining about the cold, and so found herself staying much closer to the warmer reptile.
"Can we find somewhere to stay for the night?" Tayva questioned, rubbing her shoulders as she laid against Talos' back. The dragon let out a small grumble, responding positively. They had been wandering through the parkland for awhile now, looking for an easy meal for the dragon. Unfortunately the winter time meant that most of the viable food sources were hibernating for the winter, and the falling leaves made them hard to track. On the suggestion of catching fish, they were soon on their way toward the closest water source.
The ground shook ever so slightly with the entrance of the dragon, as it slowly approached the lake side. The dragon paused for a moment, letting Tayva slip off his back, before slowly wading into the water. He wasn't bothered by the cold, but the water itself bothered him. Still if it was a chance for a free meal, he would take it. As the draconian watched him wade off into the water, she caught a familiar glimpse not too far away, laying under a tree. Wondering if he saw her, the girl smiled and waved her hand in the air. If he didn't see her, the noise of the dragon snapping at the fish in the water would likely be enough.

Kyrian watched the dragon land further down the shore from him. He remembered this dragon and its rider from when he met them some time ago in the Rockies. Talos, and his stunning rider, Tayva.
The elemental laughed quietly as the dragon waded slowly into the water, as though bothered by something, though Kyrian couldn't imagine a fire dragon being hampered by cold water. Maybe fire dragons had some sort of natural dislike for water or something. It would make sense with the whole 'fire' thing. Oh well, something else caught his interest.
Tayva had noticed his presence and was smiling at him, waving at the male. Kyrian couldn't keep a smile from rising to his own lips as he imagined himself standing next to her and vanished from his spot beneath the tree, reappearing next to the female as he poked her shoulder. "Never expected to see you again."

Just like that, he had pulled off his strange trick, and appeared right beside her, much to her surprise. "One of these days you've gotta show me how you do that..." Tayva commented, rubbing the back of her head before smiling. "Anyway it's been awhile hasn't it... how have you been doing?" she asked, giving him a small poke back in his shoulder, before glancing over hers to check on Talos.
The dragon looked rather disgruntled, seeming to be quite careful when it came to tredding through the water. His eyes were glued to the surface of the water when he suddenly shot his head into the cold lake, pulling it back out as he flung a fish into the air. The creature writhed around in panic as it fell from the sky, straight into the maw of the beast that fished it out. Still hungry, he continued moving forward, head dropping into the water every now and then to pluck another fish out of the water to eat. And each time he would shake his head afterward, trying to shake off some of the water that clung to his face.
"I think it's kinda cute to watch him try to fish... he hates to water." she explained, before looking back over at Kyrian. "So what brings you doing out here? It's quite chilly this time of the year after all. Though at least most of the bears and stuff are gone hibernating..."

Kyrian laughed a little at the female's surprise and slightly her want to learn something that she never would. Humans couldn't teleport, unfortunately. And draconians were simply humans who could talk to giant, fire-breathing lizards. But this girl's open, innocent question just seemed kind of funny since it should've been obvious that she wouldn't be able to do it. However, he did sympathize with her, knowing how awesome teleportation was. He answered her question as soon as he stopped giggling at her reaction. "I've actually been pretty good. And how have you and Talos been?"
As she looked over her shoulder back at her dragon companion, Kyrian did so too and watching the majestic beast almost nervously go after his fishy prey in the lake. However, at this point, Kyrian was staring at the girl's features from the side. She really was beautiful, too bad she would probably never get with a guy who was so obviously older. Then she turned back to him and he blushed a little, as though she could read his thoughts and he was embarrassed by them.
So the male quickly averted his eyes, wondering why he was acting like some shy schoolgirl in front of her crush. Then Tayva asked what he was doing out here and mentioned something about bears hibernating, so Kyrian took the chance to have a topic change and decided to create a joking mood. "Aww man," he said as though severly disappointed, "I came all the way out here to fight some bears and they decided to go to sleep on me?"

Tayva felt a little discouraged as he laughed at her suggestion about learning teleportation. Perhaps it was one of those things that was unique to the person, just like her with the ability to communicate with Talos. "We've been doing alright. Not having too much excitement on our end unfortunately." Tayva explained, giving him a small grin before rubbing the back of her neck. As she turned to look at Kyrian again, she saw him quickly look away, a little confused as to why. Then she could swear that his cheeks were slightly reddened. Was he blushing?
Then he continued on about wanting to fight bears. She knew it was a bit of a joke, but she decided to play along anyways, if only to have a bit of fun. "I guess you'll have to wait until Spring then. Or maybe you'll get lucky and find one still awake. Though they'd likely be much grumpier. And with Talos around, most wildlife gets scared off with the dragon's presence." Tayva shrugged. As if on cue, Talos returned to shore, having his fill on enough fish to keep him satisfied. He didn't want to stay in the water for too long after all. Shaking the water off of his scales, the dragon made his way over toward the two, looking over at the male from their last encounter. He seemed alright, but the dragon needed more time to trust Kyrian.

Kyrian laughed a little at her comment about having to wait until the spring to fight the bears. So she had a sense of humor as well as being beautiful. So far, he was liking what he was learning about this female, and he wanted to learn more.
Then Talos came back out of the lake and made his way towards the two, leaning over them. The elemental waved up at the looming force of nature and smiled warmly at the fire dragon as though they were old pals. In his life, anyone who didn't kill you on site was a potential friend, especially if you met two times and they still didn't kill you. "Hey there, Talos. Good to see you're in good health, man." He jerked his thumb to the side, pointing back at the lake where the dragon had just finished his fishing. "If you want, I can make a better meal than raw fish later on." Honestly, he didn't know how the dragon felt about him, but he did want to make a bond of friendship between them, not wanting to seme like he was coming between the dragon and his draconian.
Kyrian looked off to the side with a curious expression on his face as he thought about whether or not either one of them had feelings for the other. Or if they had ever tried a relationship, or going on a date. Did dragons even get those feelings, or was it just a primal urge for reproduction? That led him to a thought which he would better have cleared from his mind as he looked back at Tayva. "Well... What wonderful adventure shall we have today?"
Post by Tayva Aschaund on Oct 28, 2012 11:53:51 GMT -5
"Actually something to eat would be great." Tayva spoke, for both herself and for Talos. The dragon dipped his head in agreement, a sign of a nod. "We haven't had much to eat these past few days. Trying the more 'rustic approach', which works well for him, but not for me." she explained with a small grin. The dragon had a much easier time hunting for his own food, but with the colder weather Tayva had found that it was much harder to forage. Especially since she was more keen on the non-meat solution. She was too squeamish to deal with raw meat.
"And any kind of adventure would be great. The last few days have been quite boring after all." Tayva added, giving Kyrian a small grin. She wanted to have more fun with her life, especially since she wasn't really restricted to where she could go. After all, with Talos at her side she could go just about anywhere she wanted, though if they wanted to go to the city, Talos would unfortunately have to shift into a more human form.
Tayva suddenly began to stretch, placing one arm behind her head, arm bent with her hand hanging down while she placed her other hand on her elbow. She felt the need to stretch. "So... do you have anything in mind for an 'adventure'?" Tayva asked.

Kyrian laughed a little, knowing that the female wouldn't want to eat anything raw. Most girls wouldn't. So he would need to make food for the three of them later on... Maybe a picnic today? That seemed to be a little fun. After all, not every adventure had to deal with death and danger. Though, with Talos around, nothing was really too dangerous... But what would a dragon find fun to do?
And Kyrian kind of wanted to be alone with Tayva. Of course, not in a lewd manner, just as friends... Or maybe more than friends? He wans't sure what he wanted at the time...
He smiled as the female began to stretch, then blushed and looked away once more as he realized that he had been staring at her chest while she was stretching. Seriously, he need to get a grip on himself. Well... Hopefully he could say something before she noticed. "I'm not too sure... Talos, what do you consider to be fun?"
Post by Tayva Aschaund on Oct 28, 2012 15:12:45 GMT -5
The dragon let out a half yawn, half growl sort of sound, causing Tayva to look over at him. Fortunately she hadn't noticed that Kyrian had been staring at her chest, instead intent on patting her companion's snout. "He says he prefers to do some hunting. It's the only thing lately that's kept him busy." Tayva explained, knowing that there was no way for Kyrian to understand what her companion had said. With that, the dragon rose its head, spread its wings and took off into the forest, intent on skimming the tree tops in search of a worthy challenge.
Tayva blinked as she watched him take off, before grinning slightly. "Sometimes he gets too bored... though I think he trusts you... normally he doesn't leave me alone with other people unless he's sure I'll be okay..." Tayva noted, watching where she had last seen the dragon, before looking back up at Kyrian. "So how long have you been out here for? I wouldn't imagine there would be much here to do. Most people seem to prefer staying indoors, what with the cold wind and the threat of snow and such." Tayva questioned with a slight shrug. Part of her wanted to return to her home back up north in Canada, where she could relax at home with a nice hot chocolate. But the call to adventure kept her from living that lifestyle. Even though it was the more comfortable option, she didn't want to just sit around all winter and do nothing. That wasn't her. And it especially wasn't Talos.

Kyrian let out a breath of relief as he realized that the female hadn't caught him. And then Talos decided to go off hunting, leaving the two of them alone. Honestly, this was exactly what Kyrian had wanted, but he had no idea what to do now.
Then Tayva spoke about how Talos must trust him, and how the dragon normally never left her alone with anyone. He didn’t know exactly how he should feel about that, though he did like the fact that he had the dragon's trust. Then she turned back to him and asked how long he had been out here, and spoke about how she didn't imagine for there to be much to do out here, and how it wouldn’t really be a preferred destination at this time of the year.
Kyrian had to agree, this most definitely was not a place where normal people would decide to stay. But it was a lot cheaper than a hotel, and who didn’t love making snowmen? He smiled at the female and poked her nose. “How about we go into town?” He asked, and then thought about it and added a second part to his question. “Just the two of us?”
Post by Tayva Aschaund on Oct 28, 2012 15:37:45 GMT -5
Tayva nodded as he suggested the idea about going to town for a little while. It had been some time since she had been within the presence of civilization, and it would be nice to restock on some of the essentials... like food. "Sure, that sounds like a good idea. It's been awhile since I've been down into town anyway." she smiled. And this would give her some time to get to know this man. The last time they had been together was fairly short, as he had been in the presence of tracking down some dragon. She wondered how that went, but as she recalled he had been quite secretive.
"Is there anywhere in particular you want to go in town? Or just wander around?" she asked, slowly starting to wander toward the edge of the forest, toward where she figured was the direction of the nearest local settlement. She didn't have too much money for anything really fancy, but it would be fun to do a little window shopping. Especially with the holiday season coming up, where vendors would put out all of their wares for display, at normally reduced prices. If there was anything out of the ordinary that she would buy, it would be at this time. Perhaps this would also give her a chance to get some ideas on what to get her family for christmas, when she next saw them of course.

Kyrian smiled as he hooked the female's arm with his own, and guided her towards the town. He felt as though this would be a great opportunity to get to know her better. He felt an attraction towards this beauty that had saved him back when he bumped his head... And he hoped that she felt the same way.
As she asked about where he might want to go, Kyrian considered it. Right now we be the perfect time for shopping, especially window shopping in the small town nearby. The prices would be lowered and everyone would be in a good mood. Kyrian smiled down at Tayva, "I think now would be a great time for shopping. And maybe we could grab a bite to eat while in town." Then the male did something that even he hadn't expected himself to do; craned his neck down and kissed the female's cheek. "It'll all be on me, of course."

Tayva didn't comment as Kyrian led her on toward the town, taking her arm in his own. To be honest it made her feel strangely comfortable, something that she hadn't really experienced before. And it felt great, something that she wanted more often. Of course the idea that she might have liked this man didn't come to her mind right away, and it was only until he leaned down and kissed her cheek that she felt herself go red in the face. Not too red, but enough for a noticeable colour change.
"Y-Yeah, that sounds like a good idea!" Tayva responded quickly, giving him a big stupid grin in response. Of course she was clearly a little flustered, though her first response was not to pull way from him. Instead, she moved a little closer to him, almost as if she liked having been kissed on the cheek. Of course her mind was going a mile a minute, wondering just why she was doing what she was. Then it occurred to her: somehow she found herself attracted to the man, not necessarily because of his rugged good looks, but his attitude toward her, having been so kind, at least from what she saw.
She sent a quick mental note to Talos to let him know of their plans, before continuing on toward town.

The male looked down to see a red tint invade Tayva's cheeks, and he smiled happily. He had his answer as to how she felt about him, and he was pretty certain on how he felt about her. Honestly, he didn't even think about the age difference at all, focusing only on making her happy today.
When she stuttered slightly over her words, Kyrian couldn't help but let a small chuckle escape his lips at the female's nervousness. And when she flashed that huge grin at him, he felt himself melting in her warmth. The fact that she had not pulled away was a good sign that something might be developing between them, and he was willing to expand upon that. He wanted to be there for her and he wanted her to be there for him, like she was when they had first met.
As they neared the town, Kyrian had already planned out where he would take her, having come here the previous day in order to scope out the town for any potential danger. It was a small, relatively quiet town; the kind that you always saw in those homey holiday movies where everybody knows each other and nothing bad ever happens. A perfect town for the winter-time.
Kyrian led Tayva down the town's main street before branching right and then making a left, guiding her into a circular plaza with small, family-owned shops of every variety all around. "Well, here we are."
