People busted around her as the hot humid sun shone down on her. She shielded her brown eyes as she looked around the street. Her long black hair was pulled up out of her face and off the back of her neck in a mess, a few strands broke loose to cling to the thin layer of sweat that clung to her body.
India. Mumbai to be exact.
She was close. She could feel the tug in her gut toward the jungle. She stepped out into the road, her hiking boots tied tight. Khaki shorts were rolled up, a white tank top wet from when she dumped a bottle of water on her head. She shouldered the tan multi pocket back pack, a tent strapped on top and moved her way towards the edge of the city.
After about 25 minutes she had gotten out of the jungle. She glanced behind her to make sure no one was watching her, and she stepped into the jungle, leaving civilization behind.
She hiked for hours, moving through the jungle like she was bin and raised there. She knew right where she was going. The distant sound of rumbling sounded in her ears. As she continued walking the sound got louder. She stepped to a rivers edge, looking to her right to see the water crashing over the edge. She looked to her left and spotted a bridge. It started to darken in the trees and she looked at her watch. Sunset was close, she was almost there. She guzzled a bottle of water from her pack and quickened her pace. Her boots hit a hallowed surface and she looked down, she was standing on a stone step.
She had found it. She walked up the broken and earth stolen steps to a flat stone platform. Water trickled through patterned veins that were carved into the stone. She moved toward the center of the platform dropping her bag on the ground and moving to collect some wood for a fire. Dropping the last of four loads of wood, before quickly setting up her tent, before building a fire.
After working hard, and coaxing it to life, she had a roaring fire. She pulled the bag to her and pulled out an MRE. Ripping it open she set it up to heat up, before drinking some more water. When it was done she open the pouch and ate. Once she was done and full she stood and moved about her campsite. She grabbed a flashlight and shined it around her. Back behind her was where she came from. In front of her was the massive ruins of some temple. She looked at her watch and sighed. An hour til midnight. She stepped away from her campfire and towards the ruins.
Pushing some vines out of the way she stepped in shining the flashlight around her. The Jungle was reclaiming the land; roots, vines, and plants snaked down the walls and the floor searching for cracks it could grow through. She drew up the air around her, as she thought about what she was doing here.
She definitely had snuck away. Oh, did she ever. She was sneaky like that. Adrian was going to be fuming. She smiled as she walked thinking about the stern talking to she was going to get, if he found out she had indeed come to India. That was a big if, she planned on getting here and getting out. Finding out what the dream entailed.
She dreamed of this place, she knew right where she was going. A woman had showed her the way. She followed he familier pathway now, before coming to a large expanse of room. Large columns had fallen and she had to climb over one to continue. Once she reached the center of the room she paused and looked around. She set the flash light down and drew her hands out and then in, before flinging them out tossing a blast of air away from her body. A bunch of clicks were heard, and then a soft mechanical whir. She watched as a new column rose out of the ground where her flash light was beaming. She picked up her light and stepped down moving towards the column watching where she was stepping when a soft growling filled her ears. She frozen. Her sixth sense was early tickling. What ever it was, wasn't big or tough enough to cause her harm. Momentarily forgetting what she was here to do she started following the growl, looking under tints with her light. She didn't as it turned out need to look for the growl, it found her. A thud hit the back of her boots, causing her to let it a yell in surprise. She spun around and shined her light ready to let out a blast of air, when she laid eyes on the ball of white and black fur now attacking the toe of her hiking boot.
"Awww"
She coo'd looking at the tiger cub, who growled and continued attacking her boot. She laughed and pushed out with her shoe knocking the little thing away who baby roared and charged. She laughed again and stepped to the side as the cub continued to pounce her feet, soon a game turned into it, which had Evangeline laughing as they skipped around, the cub trying to attack her boots and her trying to avoid the...er...lack of damage.
After a few minutes she skipped over the cub and towards the pillar. She stepped up onto it, and looked at the markings on it. Locating a spot, she pulled rubbing paper and a piece of charcoal out of her back pocket, before pressing the paper to the column and started rubbing. She knew what she was suppose to get, she saw it in the dream. As she rubbed the cub bit her shoe lace and pulled growling. She looked down at the cub and pocketed her rubbing.
She pushed the cub away and stood moving out away from the temple. Her way back was easy to find, but she was being followed. She kept glancing back at the cub who tripped all over himself, as he followed her. She got back to the fire and turned to see the cub.
"Go back, your mum will be looking for you,"
She shoo'd the cub who sat there and looked at her. She pulled the rubbing out and placed it in her bag along with the charcoal. She knelt and looked watched the cub as he came up to her. She pushed him away and moved towards her tent.
"No. Now go, I'm leaving in the morning."
She said climbing into the tent. She looked back to zip it up as the cub pawed at the tent. She sat there and watched him for a moment, before sighing. Reaching out she snatched the cub by it's scruff and yanked it into the tent. Zipping it up she sat back and pulled her boots off setting them at the foot of her sleeping bag. She looked at the white tiger cub who climbed up to the top of her sleeping bag and laid on her pillow yawning and closing its eyes.
"I'm so not going to hear the end of this."
She sighed. Apparently she had a new traveling companion. He was really cute. She watched it for a moment before her resolve gave in. She climbed into the sleeping bag and pulled the cub against her cuddling with it. She smiled and rolled looking at the ceiling. So much for getting here and getting back without anyone knowing. How was she going to explain being followed by a tiger? It took her a while, but she eventually, fell asleep, with a tiger curled up against her side.

India. One of the last places Rennia ever wanted to find herself again. All these people bunched into such a small place. She wasn't overly fond of huge cities, but even there one had room to breathe. In India you had so many people all tightly packed into a small area like someone thought they were Sardines and stuffed them into a can. It made her skin crawl just thinking about walking through the streets with all those people so close to her.
Luckily this time she would be going out into some of the less populated portions of this overstuffed country. That in itself was a feat of arms. India's population was still exploding, which lead to expansion, claiming more and more of the land for them to sandwich themselves into. Rennia Was thankful such would not be true where she was going, at least not for some time. The more space she had to move the better. Besides, she always did have a fondness for Nature. It shared so many similarities with her style.
One would have expected a person like her to have stuck out easily in a place like this. In this hot, humid climate she was dressed entirely in black. Normally it would have drawn a lot of curiosity, even if no one may have questioned a visitor. However, the woman was adept at staying in the shadow and using her environment to disguise her at an almost eerie level. The things she could do in the dark places of the world would seem impossible to most, but then there was a saying about that. 'The person who says it cannot be done, should not interrupt the person doing it.' Rennia was fond of doing the impossible. It made life that much more interesting in the long run...
She soon slipped into the depths of the uninhabited regions of India and set off. She was back in her familiar territory now. Trees and wildlife were something she was familiar with. She spent hours winding her way through the forest, her eyes constantly alert for any would be attacker. Even out here there were the occasional renegade from society, and even tribes of people who rejected technological advancement. The bigger risk came from what was left behind. Hollywood often glamorized and twisted imagination, giving people an image of elaborate traps of doom that dotted the landscape of India in ancient temples and ruins. They were dramatizations of truth, but they were not entirely without basis. The old world did leave it's fair share of deterrents and traps for any careless explorer to kill themselves on. Most had long ago been set off, but some were still lying in wait for their unsuspecting prey. Rennia for one, had no intention of being one.
After some time she eventually came upon a waterfall. It was beautiful, serene, and probably filled with corpses of the victims it had claimed. If it weren't for the fact Rennia was here for a reason, she might have stopped to take a bath in the water perhaps upstream of the bodies of course, or enjoyed it's beauty for a while. However, time dictated she couldn't stop for too long. She sighed then continued on her way.
A few minutes later she grinned as she came upon the campsite. The fire was still roaring, and on the far side of it, she could see a woman standing at the entrance of an old ruin. She slipped into the shadows of the forest, creeping her way along in the shadows as she circled around the campfire, working her way closer to the girl. When she was just close enough to remain unnoticed, she paused, waiting to see where Eva would go next.
When Eva continued on into the ruins Rennia followed. Now, armed with only her flashlight, Rennia would have no trouble closing the gap between her and Eva without Eva noticing. That was a beauty of wearing dark clothing. Rennia herself had no need for external light, as she could see quite well in the dark, yet another advantage for her to take use of in tracking her quarry. At times she found herself nearly close enough to reach out and tap Eva on the shoulders. At others she distanced herself in case the woman would suddenly spin around when there was nowhere to go.
Finally they came to that large room. Rennia's eyes had no problem seeing the far edges of the room, even in the darkness that surrounded them. It was the remains of an ancient civilization, even far older than she was, which was pretty old considering. Eva cleared the pillar and Rennia waited a few moments before using those wings she had hidden under her cloak to silently aid her in a jump to land her on top of the column where she'd quickly hop down from, finding herself a nice dark corner to watch Eva from.
Eva then flung a burst of air from herself and Rennia ducked behind a column to prevent any of it from possibly hitting her. When it cleared she moved back out from behind the pillar, watching Eva advance towards a newly revealed column. The soft growling caused Rennia to freeze almost as much as Eva. A little baby tiger had skittered out of it's hiding hole at the commotion and seemed to instantly take a liking to the elemental. It raced towards her boot and attacked it.
Eva yelped and spun about, her light shining on the source of her surprise, which only drew an "awww" from the elemental. Rennia watched from her corner as the two started their little game of "chase the boot." After a few moments, Eva turned her attention back to the pillar she had revealed, and began to use a piece of charcoal to trace the markings on it. After she had finished, Eva turned and made her way towards the exit. Rennia traced a wide flowing arc around her till she made her way towards the pillar as well. She looked the pillar over for a few moments, her photographic memory taking down every bit of detail about those markings as she could. Then she followed Eva towards the exit.
She kept her distance this time, both as she knew the cub would have an easier time discovering her presence, and because she suspected the girl to know of the cub following her, which might cause her to spin about, and possibly find Rennia as well. Neither of those would be good things. Her suspicions proved correct as Eva occasionally glanced over her shoulder at the little tiger cub. Each time she dropped back a little more until Eva would look forward again, then Rennia would advance a little.
Finally Eva cleared the ruins and Rennia slipped off to the side, finding herself a spot nestled above the woman's camping site. She watched the woman arguing futilely with the cub, attempting to shoo it away, but the cub, being a cub, had it's mind made up that it wanted to spend time with this woman. The demoness chuckled faintly from her spot, well out of earshot of Eva. The elemental then climbed into her tent for the evening, and finally, reluctantly, took the cub in with her.
As soon as the tent had been sealed up, Rennia climbed down from her position and made her way over towards the tent. She carefully circled around the far side of the fire, so as not to cast any shadow upon the tent and alert Eva of her presence. Rennia then sat herself on the far side of that fire, reaching into her cloak to pull out that Barrett she had brought with her and she stood it up beside her as she then drew out a bag and pulled out the two rabbits she had shot with her bow. She drew out one of her blades and quietly chopped the rabbits up. Her bag was also just large enough to fit the pot she'd need to cook them. She went over to the dribbling water and set that pot about to fill, and then went out to forage for some filler to go in with the meat.
She came back with a few vegetables thankfully, as well as a few nice herbs to spice it up. After a few minutes she had herself a nice rabbit stew, cooking on the fire. The fire, thankfully, was upwind of the tent, but she kept her eye on the tent regardless, just in case Eva woke to the smell. Rennia had placed the pot at just the right height, so that the heat would slowly cook it over the course of a few hours, versus only a few minutes, so that, hopefully, it would be ready just as the woman, and the cub, within the tent, would be waking just as it finished. Rennia herself intended to stay here, awake, until the woman woke up at any rate....

Scratch, scratch, scratch.
She moaned and rolled over pulling her pillow with her only to roll into something....slimy and hard. Bolting up, she wiped her face and looked around. A little growl was heard as the tiger cub scratched at the tent. Eva's foggy vision cleared and she looked at the object in her hand. Her cell phone. She groaned and rubbed her face.
"You ate my phone..."
She mumbled almost incoherently as she kicked herself free of the sleeping bag. The cub growled and roared in its own tiger way. Rubbing the back of her neck and picked up her boots....the tops chewed to shreds. She contemplated checking the shoe at the animal, as frustration turned her face red. She shoved her feet into the boots and laced them up as far as they would go, tying them with a yawn and scooping the cub up, who sucked her finger into his mouth and suckled.
"whoa there little buddy, this is only the first date."
She exclaimed unzipping the tent. She stepped out of the tent, but didn't expect to see someone sitting across from the fire. Startled, her eyes widened, but she didn't yell. Instead she looked around curiously the cub growling with that oh so lack of being ferocious. She sighed and looked at the woman. She was so screwed now, he was right, India was such a bad idea.
"Im your going to kidnap me or whatever it is you were hired to do, if that's what your here for, let's get it over with."
Her look was pointed. Clearly this wasn't he first time someone showed up on one of her excursions. Frankly she was getting quite tired of it, to the point where she had been seriously debating returning back to Colorado, that is if it wasn't for Adrian. She cared about him far to much for her own good, and was afraid to admit she was in love with him. Going back to Colorado would probably mean being with out him, and currently she just didn't see that one happening. Was she being selfish, most likely yes. Did she care. Not really.
The tiger suckled on her finger again, while She waited for a response.

The demoness's eye turned up to face the woman as she came out of the tent. She immediately took note of the condition of the woman's shoes and the little companion she had with her and she smirked. Then a red eyebrow hiked as Eva spoke of kidnap. The taller woman shook her head and chuckled softly.
"Kidnapping a runaway girl? Yes I imagine that would go OH so well." The demoness poked at the fire with a stick, letting the stew on top simmer as she talked with the other woman. "Hello there Congressman Blazer. You know that daughter of yours that was kidnapped? Yes, Eva. Yes I found her, and you see I've kidnapped her from them." Her voice was clearly mocking as she kept her gaze on Eva. "Yes, of course Congressman Blazer, she'll be returned after you pay."
"Or would you prefer I told him the truth? That his beautiful little baby was never kidnapped at all. That she had left him and his wife because she didn't feel like being smothered for the last few months she expected to live. That while she was out and about exploring that she met someone special and fell in love with him. That after all of that, I came in and really kidnapped her from that secret life she was living." The demoness rolled her eyes and shook her head again.
"Please. Some small time congressmen from the middle of nowhere wouldn't stand a chance in hell of offering me anything of interest to me. If I truly did want to kidnap you, you would be doomed from the start. What could he possibly have to offer for exchange for you? Money? Money has no value to me. What would I buy with it? A house? A car? I have these things. Fanciful little trinkets? Computers? I've lived long enough without them. I'm sure I could live a bit longer."
Finally the demoness took out a stirring spoon and ran it through the stew, pulling out a piece of meat to check if it was ready. Satisfied that it was she pulled out two dishes somewhere between a cup and a bowl, holding one out to Evangeline. "Hungry?"

So the woman had done her research. Eva watched her as she spoke, before setting the cub on the ground and sitting at the fire watching the woman. Well she seemed to know alot about Eva, right down to knowing about Adrian. She watched curiously wondering how she came upon this Information, but it didn't surprise Eva she knew honestly. When she had finished talking and offered food, Eva raised a brow. She took the bowl with a curious look on her face, as the scent wafted into her face. She could have produced her own food, but the woman had cooked it. Eva may be on the lam from her father, but she was still polite.
"Well, with that out of the way, I hate to be bold but, you know so much about me, what is it that you want?"
Ah yes straight to the point. She did have a plane to catch, and even more so had to acquire some papers to ship the cub back with her as well. She knew she couldn't leave him in the jungle.
Post by Rennia Trayvold on Sept 9, 2011 20:41:49 GMT -5
As soon as she had taken the bowl Rennia produced a pair of spoons to go with it, offering one out to Evangeline before digging into her own bowl. Rennia tilted her head to the side, as if in thought as the woman questioned what she wanted. Her focus then shifted back to the Elemental.
"What do I want? Well That's an interesting question Eva. You see, it was my belief that you were the one who needed my assistance. Or at least that was the picture I gathered from the man who decided to ambush me in the Antarctic. Well, alright he didn't tell me much, but he didn't have to. When you've been around as long as I have, you pick up a thing or two."
The demoness gathered herself more stew, while she was eating and conversing, Rennia was quite the well mannered person herself, at least in her own opinion. She was meticulous about swallowing before speaking, and waiting between bits to start eating. She brushed her bangs out of her face as she looked at the other woman.
"Adrian followed me to Antarctica and decided to drop in a tad uninvited on my little operation down there. It was quite irritating to say the least, and I made sure it would not happen again. No, I didn't say I killed him, I just made sure to put extra precautions into place. After all, I can't have some rookie stalker following me around like he does you. I, for one, doubt very much that a few people I know would very much appreciate him hanging around me."
Rennia reached over and ran a gloved hand along the barrel of the fifty caliber sniper rifle sat beside her, heaving a soft sigh before turning back to Eva. "So tell me Eva. What is it I can do for you?"
Post by Evangeline Blazer on Sept 9, 2011 22:09:13 GMT -5
Antarctica? He had done to Antarctica? She narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. She took the spoon ans stuck it in the bowl as she thought. She didn't kill him? Relief flooded her system, she didn't doubt his abilities in the very least, but this woman looked like she had far more experience on either of them.
"If you didn't kill him, where is he now?"
She looked at her and took a bite of the stew. It was delicious. She smiled, and took another bite. What could she do for her? Eva surely didn't have the slightest idea, she just worked on getting by day to day, surviving. Her father didn't know where she was otherwise he would have found her already. It wasn't that she didn't love her parents, because she did, but she wouldn't be able to explain everything. Also she was liking her life as it was now. She didn't always have to be prim and proper, she could chuck one of her ballet shoes at Adrian if it pleased her to do so, not that she would, though she was sure if she did he would phase it. She smiled thinking about it, before looking back to the woman.
"You must have something in mind. I rather enjoy my life now, however secretive it may be."
Post by Rennia Trayvold on Sept 11, 2011 22:41:30 GMT -5
"I have no idea where he is. I apologize dear. I only just found out that I am his manager apparently." The demoness chuckled softly as she looked to the other woman with a teasing smirk. The smile soon faded and she shrugged casually. "He's probably around somewhere. Well not around here anyway. I wasn't followed here."
"Perhaps I might be of some help with those impressions you lifted off of that pillar last night, yes? I've learned my fair share of languages over the years. I might be able to tell you what they mean. Then again I might not, but you never know until you try." Once she was finished with her second bowl, she set the dish aside, leaning back as she gazed at Eva intently, as if trying to figure her out perhaps. Those deep red orbs were more curious than invading however, she wasn't outright gawking after all.
"Other than that I could always ask you about your choices, but I'm sure you don't want to be second guessed, least of all by someone who doesn't know you. Or rather, someone who hasn't talked with you first hand before now. I mean, as I'm sure you've noticed, I already know a considerable deal about you and your family." She pauses a moment before adding as if speaking for Eva, "But wait-- I thought she said that a small time congressman didn't interest her."
"I don't, but if you believe I don't keep myself apprised of current events going on in the world, you are sadly mistaken. When the daughter of a congressman goes missing, it potentially signifies big problems. Problems I often have to deal with. So of course I went digging around. Given they blatantly announced where you were attending school, it wasn't very hard to find a place to start. They went through your place something fierce, but you didn't leave them much to go on."
"Unfortunately for them, they passed up a bit of obvious evidence." Rennia tilted her head to the side as she gazed at Eva. "They had spoken to family and friends, teachers even. They spoke to everyone they thought you would know, or would know you or something about you. However, they were so set on it being an abduction that they overlooked asking about recent events. Their precious little daughter had been admitted into the emergency room for a blood ridden cough."
Her gaze straightened out as she gave Eva a more intense gaze. "Hospitals keep records Evangeline. However, they didn't mention what the doctor who saw you found out. Seems there was information you didn't want your parents finding out about. That you had cancer. Then it clicked. Their little daughter didn't get kidnapped. She was running away from the truth. She couldn't bear to be smothered for her last few months could she? Or even stand telling her parents that their star angel was only given six months to live."
"No doubt your father would have used everything in his power to get you the best medical aid. You would have been stuck in a hospital for the remaining days of your life. So you fled. You gathered up several key items, another thing they missed, and you fled. Unfortunately for you, you fled the country. Now most countries have a customs system whether you're entering or leaving said country. These customs offices have security. Security means people and cameras. Thus I had the who, you of course. The what, A self imposed exile. The when, shortly after your diagnosis. The where, a one way trip out of the country. And the why, said diagnosis."
The demoness's gaze shifted towards the cub. "For the time being I was satisfied. It wasn't any of my business to tell some insignificant congressman that their daughter was going off on her own and didn't want to be followed. It may, may have ended there. Chances are you'd never had met me. However, I get ambushed in Antarctica by someone who apparently had decided to stalk me. Well you see that just won't do, yeah? So You enter my attention once again. Don't get me wrong. I'm not here as a threat to that man or whatever you might think. No simply following the strings, wherever they may lead. Now, they have led me to you."

The rubbings. She had had a dream. It was a new power, she just had to translate it, and practice it. She listened to the woman, as she scratched behind the cub's ear. She seemed to have everything figured out about Eva. She brushed some hair out of her face.
"You've figured it out. Want a cookie?"
She crossed her arms. She wasn't mad, but she Hated people knowing everything about her. She shifted in her seat.
"Would anyone want smothered. I left for the simple fact that I didn't want them to know. I didn't want them to watch me die, with there being nothing to do. Was that so wrong? When I was healed, I couldn't...can't just reappear. 'hey dad its me, well yeah I had deadly cancer, now I'm cured, let's go get a slice of pizza.' So. My life is my own. My father doesn't have to worry about who his daughter dates, or how she is doing in school. I don't have to be perfect. I can be with who I want to be, where I want to be and I don't have to hide my powers."
Wow. She'd been holding that in for a while. She sat back and looked down at the cub. Maybe her cancer just really gave her a reason to do what she had been wanting to do. She sighed and pulled the rubbing out handing it to the woman. She sank back, petting the cub gently as it fell back asleep in her lap.
Post by Rennia Trayvold on Sept 13, 2011 12:33:45 GMT -5
"Now doesn't that feel better? I imagine that must have been building up for a while now. I bet it feels nice, doesn't it Evangeline? No longer feeling pressured to succeed by your parents, your peers. Even if none of them ever explicitly said they expected you to do great things, I imagine the pressure was always there. Your dad, a congressman, and you his daughter. You felt like something was expected of you didn't you? Now all that's gone. You're free to be who you want to be, do what you want to do. The only things standing in your way now are the law and reality. Reality in the sense that you can't be ruler of the world. Well, I suppose, in some sense you could."
"The world isn't ready for us to be who we are Evangeline. Not like what it once was." The demoness took in a deep breath and let it out slowly, looking off into the woods as if reminiscing. The truth was that she was a little bit, remembering events from over a millennium ago. The "modern" world had only seen two of them total. She herself had seen half of one, and all of another. "There used to be a time, Evangeline, where your kind were not so unheard of. Where they were respected for their abilities. There was also a time when I could have walked openly in some places. Granted, back then I would have been outright feared in others. Now people would simply gawk if they saw all of me."
"So naturally the world doesn't understand us. Humans for their part tend to fear what they don't understand. It's alien to them. It's beyond what they can fathom, so they label it as something that should be locked away, hidden, or destroyed. So I can imagine that you felt suffocated in that life. You could have whatever a congressman's salary could afford. A nice car, designer clothing, shoes. You could have gotten it all. But what you wanted was the one thing your father couldn't buy. Something that actually slipped away with the more money he made, no? You wanted room to stretch your legs and truly dance."
"Well now you've got that room, but I know you don't need me to say that. You've got no one looking over your shoulder, pressuring you, lecturing you on the 'proper behavior' of a congressman's daughter. You even found a man you fancy. A man who would do anything for beautiful Evangeline. He would even risk his life for you. Now that you've got all that Eva... What will you do with it? Are you truly happy? And what about your parents? Are you even aware what your father is going through? That he's spending tens and hundreds of thousands of American dollars to find those who 'kidnapped' you. And what will you do, Eva, if they find you... and Adrian? Do you think your father will be in a clear enough state of mind not to believe Adrian was the one who kidnapped you, and that you were brainwashed into loving your kidnapper?"
"Your father has gone to some powerful people Eva. One of which has a distaste for the supernatural. One who has also spent a great deal of time studying them, and learning how to fight them. Adrian may have a few tricks up his sleeve, but that man is not someone he wants to tangle with. I can guarantee you Eva. If this situation escalates.... There will be no victory. This spiraling situation will not end without someone getting hurt. Be it you, at the loss of Adrian. Adrian at the separation of the two of you, or your Father, when he finds out the truth. Are you prepared to pull the trigger on that?"
Rennia fell silent, letting her words sink into Eva's ears, giving her time to digest what the demoness had said. After Rennia finished speaking the only noise heard would be the crackling fire and the slowly simmering stew in the pot above it. The fiendish woman's eyes reflected the fire between the two of them as she gazed over at the other woman. She wondered how the elemental would handle all of that at once, but she figured a woman with her mind as set as Eva's was, would handle it alright.
"So the choice now is yours on how you wish to proceed with this life. I can of course offer you a solution to your problem. I could go to your father, and inform him that his daughter is safe. That she escaped, or perhaps was aided free of her kidnappers, and that they will never bother him or his family again. I could tell him that his daughter met someone along the way, and that she now wishes to see the world on her own. That she is flying free of the proverbial nest, and will contact him again when she is ready. Hopefully, it should, as I suspect, end his search for you. But, if you believe you can avoid them forever... well, then the decision is yours to make."
"I told you before Evangeline. It is you, I believe, who could use assistance. Thus I asked: What is it I can do for you? Now I have offered a solution. Will you take it?"

She watched the flames as the woman spoke. It seemed as if the demon woman was mocking her. She was definitely regretting coming to India. The woman seemed to know what she was talking about. It wasn't that Eva didn't care. It just didn't seem right hearing so much about herself from someone she doesn't know. She looked up as the woman spoke of supes. She knew they needed to remain a secret. The human population wasnt ready to handle a blow like that. To pop their bubbles of solitude would be catastrophic. Like the Salem Witch Hunt, only global. Just the knowledge of the sacred cities falling into the wrong hands, would be a disaster. She shivered. She knew that being said she definitely couldn't go back now.
"And what...happens exactly, if the world finds out that the Congressmen's daughter is a Supe? Not only will I be hunted and killed, but so will my mother and father. Even dead I can't let me be their death. I won't let them watch me die either."
It didn't seem fair. Not for parents at least. It wasn't, she knew that, but it seemed like the right thing to do. The fact that her father it seems has gone to one of those...hunters, is what it sounded like, she was screwed either way. There was no way she was going to make Adrian fight any battles alone, if there were any. He was her world. Which was the major reason why she came to India. The rubbings explained of offensive wind skills, instead of the defensive skills she knew. The woman was offering to tell her father that? She shook her head.
"Can't you tell him I died in a firey crash, and produce some random body, instead of that? Noone is to blaim but my horrible driving. Say everyone died in the vehicle. That gets my father off the search, the man he has looking for me off the hunt. My parents will be destroyed at the news of my death, but that's better then them being dead because of me."

"You misunderstand me entirely dear. I'm not offering to tell him the truth. I would have figured that to be obvious by offering the story of escaping from captivity. No, I simply offer to tell him that his daughter is alive and well, and that she wishes to have time to herself for awhile. That she wants to explore the world without her parents looking over her shoulder to shelter her from falling. That is all. Nothing more. I wouldn't dream of telling Congressman Blazer that his daughter is gifted as well. Personally I think he'd handle it pretty well. I mean he's handled it pretty when his daughter was kidnapped. Granted he's gone a little overboard in his attempts, but I think a lot of that has to do with how much he loves his daughter."
"No, as I said. Escaped to freedom, but wanting time on her own. That is the information I offer to feed them. Your powers are not their concern. They are yours. You will tell them when you are ready, or you won't. I am simply offering a chance for you to not have to look over your shoulder every time you take a breath. Not have to hide your face in fear that some security camera, policeman or other might recognize you. The truth is the longer he looks, the harder your life will become. Eventually your picture will be plastered on every watch list across the globe. People will begin to recognize you, and your father, and the one he asked for help, will eventually find you."
"As for telling him of your demise, I somehow doubt that he would believe me. How is it that I, someone he had never met, never asked for help, managed to find his daughter's burnt corpse in an automobile wreck before the authorities had even heard of it? That I randomly happened to stumble across a burned out vehicle, and managed to identify the body? Then tell me what happens if he tries to have it autopsied? He will either find evidence that it is not you, or find nothing at all. Then the question becomes, how did I know it was you? possessions? Do you happen to have an item on hand that you could readily be identified by that would survive a fire intense enough to remove any possible hope of identifying your corpse? A fire intense enough to burn away your flesh, to burn away your hair, your very DNA. It would melt just about any Identification card, and most metal jewelry."
"Then there are dental records. Your teeth would have to be removed entirely. Then you'd best hope they don't do bone records. Technology is advancing, and with it, ways to identify corpses. And a congressman likely has the funds to spend on these types of investigations. Twenty years ago? Sure. I could have made one dead congressman's daughter, while the real one went on with her secret life. Today? It's a bit harder. Is it possible? Yes. I'm sure I could make some tragic accident occur that left no bodies, and a few witnesses. Create a phantom airline ticket with your name on it when a plane crashes. Even produce a coverup. That his daughter had been captured by GLA forces, who then assassinated her and shoved her body in a barrel of acid. I could even produce a video that shows their poor daughter being interrogated and executed."
"However, ultimately, what would this accomplish? A mother and father would be grieving over the supposed death of their daughter. What happens, Eva, if for some reason you are found down the road? Somehow you run into them or someone who knows you, and tells them? That their supposedly dead daughter has somehow escaped death? That she's been alive and well this entire time and has not told them? Somehow I think that revelation would hurt more than telling them you need time alone, or even your 'death'."
The demoness crossed her arms, waiting for Eva to speak up again. Her eyes danced in the firelight, becoming dimmer as the light outside steadily increased with the rising sun. The trees began to shimmer as the dew, left by the humid fog the night previous, began to shimmer in the growing light. Soon the morning creatures began to actively stir, chirping and calling out in the new day.

She let out a puff of air. She didn't have the energy. She nodded.
"You can tell my father this, hopefully he will understand and leave it at that. But this man my father has hired...what if he doesn't get off the hunt?"
Her brain was slowing down, a full day of traveling and now a night of adventure. She glanced at the flames, the cub mewing slightly. It broke her out of her sleep trance and she shook her head slightly breaking off the effects. She lifted the cub up holding him up so she could see his face, as he mewed and pawed at her tying to get himself right again. She pulled him into the crook of her arm and summoned a bottle of milk. She lifted it to his lips and he began to suckle eagerly. She watched him for a moment before looking back to the woman.
"What is it, since you are so keen to help me, that I can do for you? My resources are limited, but I might be able to help with something."
She watched the flames reach up for the sky, before ushering out a silent prayer to Locutus. 'Please give me strength to make it through this night' for she had a feeling, it was only just beginning.

"I'm sure he's got bigger fish to fry once your father tells him he can stop. If he doesn't offer the reward, what's in it for the man besides a waist of resources? What's he going to do? Ransom you to your father? Somehow I doubt, that with his name in hand, he'd get very far holding you hostage. Aside from that, even if he threatened to "reveal" you, how would he go about doing that without proof? If you don't show him your abilities, I'm pretty sure you'd be safe from his wrath. You'd be worth more to him alive than dead, but even alive, proving your worth would be a difficult challenge to him."
The demoness shrugged her shoulders. "Just a thought I suppose. It is possible he would still chase you I suppose, but if nothing is said, he will definitely chase you no? Hopefully it will call him off your case, but no, I cannot guarantee it. I only offer to increase your chance of living alone without having to go back to your parents and explain to them the truth."
She brushed the hair out of her face before she slowly stood up, wandering a little ways away from the fire to look out upon the wilds beyond. "What is it you can do for me? I don't know if I much have anything I need from you, other than perhaps your assistance in making your beloved understand that he is taking on a task that is putting his life in danger, as well as your own. A task that will likely leave me no alternative but to step in, but... truth be told I would rather not. You are a likable person, and I would rather not upset you if I didn't have to. That means not harming him, but that would require him abandoning his foolish quest."
"So tell me, can you do that? Because beyond that, I'm not sure what it is that you could do for me. I don't often ask anything in return for what I do, if I feel there is something worth in doing it."
