“That bastard.” Varos screamed, throwing a plate to her wall as if it were a Frisbee. It shattered, the force turning it to powdered crystals, and a dent was left in the wall. She would fix that later. At the moment, she was mad. Her entire body quivered with the power of the emotion, her body so livid it even glowed so brightly that if the eyes of any mortal rested upon her they would burn away, becoming dust like the plate. To those whose Immortal eyes were powerful to see through this piercing light they would see a woman, her hair bright as fire, and her face in a small scowl- for even in anger she remained somewhat composed. But still, this anger was a very rare site, not having happened in a few thousand years. She was usually cool, logical, her only passion laying with the Balance of All the Worlds. She sat down, a chair appearing for the Goddess’ comfort, and placed her index and middle finger of each hand on perfectly symmetrical spots on her forehead without even having to think of their placement. Such small actions simply happened automatically. She rubbed at her temples and calmed herself down, her glow gradually fading to one so low it would only forever blind any mortal.
Forgery: his name a clear indication of what he was like. The God of Lies. But also the God of Gods, King over their realm, brought into existence before Varos herself opened her gorgeous eyes unto the eternally beautiful gardens of Shangri-La. He was supposedly the first to come into existence, but Varos could not merely trust the words of the Lying God; for all she knew he had merely killed off his ancestors. She had grown accustomed to living the millennias with the God, and he provided quite some amusement. But he was no King. Lies should not be the Ruler of All Worlds, as it only causes corruption. She was sick of it. She was sick of him disrupting her beautiful Balance. She remembered when he had trapped away Ishtara, Goddess of Truth, and then eventually caused her to leave into whatever afterlife Gods descended into- not even Anpu knew. Then, when Ishtara had passed along her powers to one of her followers, Chaos Mordecai, it was not long until she disappeared as well. Varos always felt as if Forgery had simply decided to forever rid of his opposite. It was something Varos could not accept.
So she had confronted him, that Lies are very good, but that they need an opposite. If things do not have an opposite than the whole world would plummet into chaos, and then her precious Balance would simply be a memory. He laughed. He wanted Lies to rule, he was too thick-headed to see the consequences. They had argued a long while, perhaps months of the human world, but it only felt like hours to Varos. She had always been a wise advisor, and now he was spurning her. They were the last two of the Original Gods, they had a bond. But nothing, no bond or friendship, came before her beloved Balance. Without it… She would fade as Ishtara did, and all Varos represented would disappear from All Worlds. That is why it was so important that she preserved each domain, when there were none to guard it.
In a way she was Protector of All Domains. There were very few the Gods had ever deemed worthy enough to join their ranks, and Varos would let go of one of her precious treasures so that a new protector may devote their existence to it. Like with Anpu. He was proving to be a fine choice, one of hers of course. They needed Death- it was one of the things that was certain in the world, a natural balance. In fact….
Thinking of Anpu granted the Goddess an idea. Smiling, her glow of anger fading to reveal a beautiful woman, she closed her eyes a brief sentence and called out to him… Anpu… Come.

Blood dripped from his hands onto the sand as he wandered from the now closed tomb, leaving the bodies of 30 tomb raiders to rot. His nose was twitching as all he could smell was the strong scent of blood. Defilers of graves, they are the ones he hated most no matter who they were. The dead need to rest, not be disturbed for greed. Heading south he knew of a small oasis he can clean up at. Bolting he ran on all fours, making the small trek last only a few minutes before arriving.
Standing up straight he unclasped his clothing and jewelry, letting them fall he walked into the water and submerged his self in it. Washing off the blood he took in a deep breath and washed his face. The water around him was slightly pink from the blood. Splashing away the water he drank his fill before walking out of the water and back into the hot sun. The sun dried him off by the time he walked to his clothing and put them back on. Adjusting some jewelry he twitched his ears and closed his eyes as he heard the voice of his goddess. "Yes, Varos." is all he said before opening his eyes again and seeing the beautiful goddess in front of him. Bowing he stood up straight and spoke to her. "What is it you need done?"

She opened her eyes. Her powers had, as always, worked. For the Cynocephaly had appeared. He smelt like fresh blood, which was a surprising scent over his usual odor of death and decay. He opened his eyes and the dog-headed creature bowed before her. She gave him a faint smile, having once more gained her cool composure of a mask. He straightened himself out and asked what he needed done. She gave a faint laugh. “Oh, the Worlds are all filled to the brim with problems, Balance is so hard to maintain. But I call you for one favor, my dear, one that would at least put this one world into a better state of Balance. You should not feel obligated to agree, but the rewards are potentially great if you succeed…”
The Goddess took a few steps forward, her Greek chiton rustling as the bottom dragged along the ground. She placed her hands on each shoulder of her beloved servant, and stared at him quite seriously. “What I am about to suggest is a terrible thing. There is so much new in the world that the old is fading out fast. I wish to keep that balance, but I must sacrifice it for the balance of many other things… You see, I wish to dethrone the God Forgery.”
She paused, remaining still; there was nothing more she could do. She had been blunt and to the point, not bothering to drone on, on some excuse. He either would or he wouldn't. All she needed was his answer.

As he looked at the goddess in front of him he watched her walk forward. His ears twitching to the sound of her laugh and the chiton on the floor. "Balance is needed, you are my Goddess, I will do as you ask." Feeling her hands on his shoulders he looked in her eyes as she stared into his, listening to her words he nodded as he thought for a few seconds.
"I cannot kill him by my self, I will require some help. A distraction or more power.. Figure this out and I will help you accomplish this my Goddess." Making a fist with his right hand he placed it over the middle of his chest and raised his left hand to touch her arm softly. "Balance will be achieved, even if I die make sure it happens. Please, If I am to die, do not bring me back. Dying is the greatest honor I can have."

Anpu, as predicted, instantly agreed after only a matter of seconds. The cunning Goddess gave him a brief smile, and felt his hand rest on her arm. She continued to uphold that smile, but on the inside it disturbed her. And quite greatly as well. He was only touching one arm and not the other. It was so unsymmetrical, unbalanced. It was a terrible feeling to have anything unbalanced. She removed her arms, and letting his arm fall she took a step back, her hands snaking up discreetly to briefly touch the arm that felt bare without the heat of a hand. The Keeper of Death listed his needs, and his wished, all of which she nodded to.
“Well of course my lovely, I will provide a distraction, and…” She placed both her hands on his face, one on each side. A small surge would provide the half-God with energy, and heal him if he had any sort of injuries. She let go, and kissed his nose. “Thank you for your assistance. And I shall honor your wishes if they come to pass. Now, come along youngling.”
Varos turned on her heels and began to walk, waving at Anpu to follow. Weaving through corridors, she exited her home, and begun to return to the white and amethyst home of her dear old friend. She sighed internally as she took her quick strides, counting mentally the number of steps she took with her right and left foot. She would miss him greatly, but she had to uphold the Balance. She stopped only once she reached the outside of his home in an equal amount of steps, finally looking back to see if her assistant had kept up with her pace.

Watching her touch her arm to balance it out he waited, remaining silent. His mind was running through what to do, how would he kill this god? What distraction would she provide? The question ran through his head until she placed her hands on his face. Feeling the surge of power in him. The feel of her kissing his nose made him twitch his ears and nose. Watching as he turned and started walking he followed behind her.
Walking through the corridors he remembered just how big this world was. Every thing looks so smaller on the outside. The metal jingled on his clothes as he walked. As they approached the home of the god he looked over every thing as they walked. In the time he was there he never entered the homes of this god. Anpu knew just who he was having to kill, the only god that made this world unbalanced. Forgery, Anpu was indebted to the god and what better way to pay back a god then to finally let them rest.

Varos gaze turned silently from the demi-God to the house. She blinked, twice, and finally spoke, her eyes still on the home of her old friend. “I will distract him. You must sneak on him, but I do not know how you will accomplish this. If he notices you I will kill him with a single word, but then you would lose your chance at the powers that can be yours, and robbed of a destiny I have set.”
Leaving him behind, she walked up to the front of the home and unlocked the door with the mere touch of her hand on the handle. Going inside, she searched until she found him out. The God Forgery sat in a chair, one of beautiful handcraftsmanship and with lovely purple colors in a pure silver frame. He looked up, surprised at the appearance of his red-haired companion, and, of course, stood to make an elegant greeting. Varos waved off all the false complements he gave, and looked at him sternly. “I do believe our talk is not over.”
Forgery smiled and laughed, protesting the need of words, and beckoned her over. Obeying, she placed her hands on his chest and leaned in closely, whispering into his ear. “You are a great friend, but sometimes you do annoy me so. Why is reason so hard to comprehend? I beg of you to see things my way.” Her words held the silent warning. It was his last chance. He would comply… Or he would die.

Walking up to the building he looked at her as she looked back from him to the building. Listening to her he nodded and watched her walk off. Taking off the jewelry and clothing so he was only in his skirt he Grabbed his sword and phased through the walls. Quietly he walked in the surrounding rooms, slowly circling the room they are in he listened and kept a image in his head of where they were. Once behind the wall where the Goddess and god were he stood there, quietly listening.
Hearing her ask him if he will see things her way he slowly got in a stance to lunge. His sword held with both hands he quickly lunged through the wall, phasing through it. Under his breath as he lunged he uttered to spell of deathly whisper onto the god as his sword sunk through the gods back and out his chest. The black wisps that are Forges true form clung to Anpu's hand. Pulling the sword out he watched as the god slowly fell over in his chair. The black wisps burst from the gods body. Bombarding Anpu the wisps caused pain, not felt by the demigod before.
The power, it coursed through his body. The mixture of pain and power caused Anpu to drop his sword and drop to his knees, the pain overpowered any other pain he felt, in turn it caused him to shred the skin off his own face. His screams of pain finally slipped trough as the wisps bombarded him.
The screams that were of pain slowly turned to laughter for a second before he went dead silent. Anpu slowly pushed off the ground with his hands and stood up. He had absorbed the wisps and took in the power. In turn at the breaking points of pain where most mortals would of died, Anpu saw it. The point where the dead come to rest, it was him. He was the link between the dead and their final resting point. The Void.
The pain that he once felt was gone, he felt not pain for his self, but pain for all that are living in this world. In that pain he didnt realize that his body had been changed at first. The skin he ripped off didn't bleed but didn't heal back either. Raising his arms he looked at them for a few seconds before looking at Varos and dropping his arms to his side. "So this is the power of the gods.."

Varos watched, her chin resting on the shoulder of her dear old friend, as the jackal-headed creature silently snuck up. He was devoid of jewelry, stripped down so that only a loincloth remained. His sword shone, reflecting the amethyst floors. And as Varos stood there, her hands on the chest of her friend, she could feel his life force, his energy. She could feel… his tiredness. She believed that Forgery knew that the demi-god was behind him, the Gods could read thoughts after all, and had a sixth sense that alerted them to danger. And yet… Forgery did nothing. She did not try to read his mind, knowing his cunningness always masked his true thoughts, but in her own mind she thought of words she hoped he could hear.
Good bye, my dear old tired friend. I will miss you. And then everything happened. Anpu lunged, his only words whispering the death sentence of the God. Varos moved out of the way so that the sword piercing Forgery’s body would not hit her. She watched as he fell back into his chair, and had quite the feeling that he had resigned to this a long while ago. She felt guilt, she felt sad, but this was for the best. Black whispers burst from the wound and entered Anpu, causing him to drop to his knees. Forgery’s last act of defiance. She almost laughed, knowing she should have expected as much. Her eyes calmly passed between the disintegrating dead God and the one becoming a God of the dead. Her face did not betray her, keeping the onslaught of turmoil of emotions inside her a secret. As the newly-born God was ripping off his face in pain, Varos reached forward, capturing a single wisp of Forgery’s essence, and let it wiggle under her skin. It held no pain for her, but rather the Essence of Lies. She would keep it safe, and in Balance.
Varos was not deaf to the screams of Anpu, but that did not mean she would react. She wondered slightly what it felt like. Varos’ own existence had simply… appeared, one day. She had opened her eyes, and she was the Balance of the Worlds. Simple as that. A birth without a birth. But now she witnessed the rebirth of a creature, it’s ascent into Godhood. He laughed, and rose, commenting on the power.
“Yes, this is the power of the Gods. But I will warn you, despite what you may think killing the others will not grant you anymore. I would advise you treat your power well…” She cast him a curious glance. “I- or even you- could heal that face. But I believe it quite suiting.”

“Yes, this is the power of the Gods. But I will warn you, despite what you may think killing the others will not grant you anymore. I would advise you treat your power well…”
Those words ran through his head before he stared at her and spoke. "I don't want more power.." Walking up to her he spoke softly. "The dead only want to rest.. My job is to make sure they rest.. I have enough power to do this till the end of every thing.. I do not wish for more.." Chuckling a little at the comment of his face he reached up and touched it, the cold bones and torn flesh is all he felt. No warmth or a feeling of life.
Looking at his hand he looked at her before walking past her, grabbing the jewelry and sheath. He put the sword in the sheath and walked back to her. Holding out the jewelry and sheathed sword in his hands for her "I am not who I used to be any more.. In time, I know I will forget who I once was.. Please, hold onto them so who I once was may rest."

She smiled lightly at Anpu’s response. She would not have to worry; she had made a good choice in choosing him. Varos would have to stand alone for the balance of the old and the new, but at least she had one less thing to distract her mind. He was not power-hungry, not like Solemn Creed had been. He understood the need for Balance, unlike the recently passed Forgery Zaytsez. Her eyes were the only things that moved, following him as he went to gather his things. She stretched out her arms to gather the things Anpu held out, and shook her head no. “One should not forget the old in favor of the new. A tree needs its roots to grow.”
Laughing, the metal of the sword and jewelry melted in her hands, the sword leaking out of the sheath in a thick liquid. It reformed, becoming a solid gold ball, but light as a feather. She handed this strange metal orb back to Anpu. “Reform it. The old has not lost its purpose. It is still you, even if reformed. There must be Balance in Old and New.”
“I am sure you will do well, and you will certainly have lots to do. And so do I.” Varos concluded, her essence disappearing from that room and reappearing in her own. She took a few steps towards her scales, before touching one side lightly, readjusting their balance.
