It was a cool day in Shanghai, and the sun hid behind the gray clouds, as though hiding from something upon the earth. The rains had just passed through, and the city was bustling; humming with the sounds of vehicles and people upon the wet roads and sidewalks. The cramped city with its crowded buildings, and large population was a cornucopia of industrialization. In China, one of the most cultural places in the world, there was this city, as plain and monotonous as all cities are. The modern people walked to their destinations, ignoring the shops all around them, and stepping over millennia of history as thoughtlessly as they sat in their cubicles and type on their keyboards all day.
Amongst the crowd walked a man who would have stood out in pre-industrialized Shanghai. He walked with a cool air about him, the presence of a killer. Even though his looks were clearly not of the region, almost no one in the crowd noticed. They were used to foreigners walking in their streets, and didn't even cast him a second glance. It seemed as though this great place had lost all of it's ancient culture and pride, and the thought brought a smile to the foreigner's lips. The male continued walking, wearing a black wife-beater and black jeans, with sandals covering his feet. His confident stride led him towards his destination, the Longhua Temple.
A cool breeze blew his bangs out of his eyes and exposed their color. Bright crimson hues glanced about, and beneath them, a smile full of cruel intent. This man would bring about bad luck to the city, however, for now... He had to feed his stomach. Luckily, China seemed to be obsessed with McDonald's, so the man slipped on his sunglasses and stepped into the nearest one, ordering a ten piece meal with an Oreo McFlurry.

The inside of the fast-food restaurant was so much warmer than the outside, too warm. David preferred the cold weather of the streets, but his hungry stomach begged for food and McDonald's seemed a a fair place to eat. He ran his fingers through his curly hair as he moved towards the counter, ready to order. “Hello there...” He glanced smiling at the confused little woman behind it. “ What's the biggest and juiciest burger you have? ” The woman seemed speechless, and only then it occurred to David that the woman couldn't understand English. “ Oh right, the Chinese thing... Uhm. Me...want...biiig burger ” The male started gesticulating with his arms ridiculously until the little woman gave up and called one of the his co-workers. This time came a male, who seemed to know a little more, at least enough for David to order.
As he sat down he observed a new male in shades, that had just walked in, the only particular reason this individual caught his eye was that he was clearly foreign just like David himself. The young man shrugged his shoulders and laid his feet on the table, eating and looking occasionally at the television. He heard some chinese gibberish right next to him, and only when he drove his eyes to the side he realized it was directed to him. A man seemed to be yelling at him for some particular reason, he wore a vest and a tie and had a little plaque that would probably say his name. David took a guess that it was the manager. “ Sorry... Me not understanding. ” He mocked the poor man. “ Feet off table!” Finally the man spoke, realizing David's language. “ Oh, but I'm so comfortable... “ The man shouted something in chinese once again. “ Calm down princess, I'll do as you say, no need to get of your panties...”
As his legs came down from the table he knocked off and spilled his beverage on the floor, the manager gave him an angry look as Coca-cola surrounded his feet. “ Don't worry, I'll grab it.” The young male said smiling. As he curved his body to reach the for the cup he placed his hand on the spilled drink, discretely freezing it upon touch, and quickly a small layer of frozen coke formed under the manager's feet. The elemental sat down straight , again , he smiled, showing the cup to the manager, who mumbled something and once he gave a small step to walk away ,his feet slipped on the icy surface, making the man clumsily fall on his behinds. David chuckled as the embarrassed man tried to get up . “ You have to be careful man, you might even get hurt someday...”

The male took his tray to a small, two-seater booth were he ate his fries one at a time, surveying the rest of the restaurant. Behind the shades, his crimson eyes noticed a lanky, goofy-looking boy creating a commotion. The male sighed, looking down at his empty fry container and shaking his head slowly as he opened a package of bar-be-que sauce to dip his nuggets in as he ate them.
He continued to watch the other male, beginning to get slightly annoyed at him. Only two types of people acted that way: ignorant children who had been spoiled into believing the world revolved around them, and ignorant adults who thought they were powerful and so, could play around with others. The male adjusted his shades, considering whether or not he should take care of the noisy brat, before noticing something 'strange.' The male had done something as he picked the cup up; something to make the manager slip.
Oh well, he thought as he sipped the last of his drink, standing and wiping the crumbs from his hands. He didn't feel like looking further into this; he had somewhere that he needed to be. So the male place his trash into the can and bowed to the humiliated manager before leaving the establishment, continuing on his way down the gloomy street. A man with a keen eye, knowing what to look for, would probably notice how the shadows moved a little bit to try to reach him as he passed them by; like iron filings to a weak magnet. A smirk worked its way onto the male's lips as he walked with the crowd, anxious to reach his destination.
David looked over the manager to see the male he previously spotted was now leaving. Being satisfied with his meal, and having a proper laugh he decided to leave himself. He patted the manager strongly on the shoulder as the poor man tried to get up making him slip once again. Shoving his hands into his pockets and pulling his hoodie up, David walked out the restaurant. Now he had to find a place to sleep, since he had been kicked out of the previous hotel he had spent the night . He was about to walk away when he caught a glance of the man that had been sitting in the restaurant. Something was odd. Something about him didn't seem right, but the elemental couldn't exactly tell what.
Finding an inn could wait, his curiosity was revolving at the back of his head. He decided to walk behind the mysterious man, discretely but casually, keeping his head down, and the necessary distance. If anyone were to look they were different people with the same itinerary. David's eyes would once in a while rest on the leading male trying to figure out what was so different about this individual. Something about his shadows seemed to be off.

The male stopped to hand money to a beggar on the side of the road, amused at how a man would throw away all his dignity in order to beg for money instead of doing work. Normally, he would hate these forms of people who leeched off of others, but he was in a humored state of being at the moment. At least, this is how it would seem to any passer-by; that he was simply giving money to a homeless old man. However, he took this small movement in order to glance out of the corner of his eye back in the direction from whence he came, spotting what he had known he would see; the male from the eatery was following him.
The crimson-eyed man sighed as he straightened back up, taking his sunglasses off, and glared over the crowd at the other foreigner. Hopefully the boy would get that he did not want to be followed, and piss off, though it was highly unlikely. The male muttered a curse beneath his breath as he continued on the last bit of his trek, seeing the temple standing tall and proud further down the street. He continued to look about, wondering what it would have been like to live in Imperial China. This thought gave birth to a soft chuckled that escaped from his parted lips, thinking of how the populace would react to him. This humorous thought made him give himself a new title, one he was sure that he would have received in that situation; the red-eyed devil.
David was getting quite bored with this walking, starting to regret coming after this mysterious male. He would probably just end up being just a regular man, and there was nothing wrong with him, just David's imagination. David stopped abruptly and not very discretely when the man suddenly interrupted his way to give some money to a homeless guy. For a moment it seemed that David caught a glimpse of his eyes looking at him. Nah, it was probably his imagination again. David stood still on his tracks for a while more, debating whether or not to keep following. He was about to turn and walk away when the mysterious man turned and glanced directly into him.
David's heart jumped at this sudden movement. He knew David was after him, and he didn't seem very pleased about it. “ Oh goody.” David mumbled as a grin came across his face. If he was bothered by David's presence he was obviously up to something. Or he was just another citizen that wasn't very happy being followed home. Either way that gave David the kick he needed to immediately start walking again after this man. And the way back was much to boring than following a complete stranger.

The male smiled to himself, certain that the boy was still following him. He decided that it was of no consequence to him, and so could be ignored. He had more important matters to attend to anyway, his reason for even being out right now. Luckily enough for him, there was considerable amount of people currently visiting the temple, so he wouldn't stand out when doing what he had come here for; a conversation.
He glanced around out of his shades, noticing a well-built man with short brown hair and a close shave. The red-eyed man walked over to his target and put on a welcoming smile out of courtesy, not because he actually felt like smiling. The male opened his lips and let two words escape from him as he removed he shades that covered his crimson eyes, "Hello, Xiao Loashu."
The other male looked over the new-comer, instantly recognizing him from the crowd. He was now meeting up with the male he had contacted so often over the phone. The male that approached him had a powerful, lethal aura around him. He smiled back and looked at the male, knowing that he was a perfect example for a ruthless mercenary. "Mr. Janus, I presume?"

David was getting bored again, but soon they arrived at a temple. Just now David realized how far he was from the center of the city where he would easily find a Inn, if this man was just a regular citizen that was a big waste of time and he would have to walk all the way back again. When his thoughts turned again towards the man that made him get out of his way, he realized he was talking to someone, even though David wasn't close enough to see the new person's face. Discretely David got closer to them, and stood behind the man he followed so that he could she the other individual's face properly.
His heart froze. David recognized an awfully familiar face. It was Loashu. David didn't knew his first name, he only knew what he heard from others calling him. A sudden rage rose from his body, as he remembered the day they had the “pleasure” to meet each other. Loashu belonged to the cult that chased David, he was also part of the group of beings that assault him nearly to death, more than a year before. For a whole year, David had successfully avoid these people. And now, one of them was right in front of him. Mixed feelings started to fill his head. Rage was begging for revenge, revenge for the humiliation that he had been put through. But logic, said to stay away, if tried to attack this man all the moths he ran would be worthless. There were to many people in the area, and besides, if he were to attack this Loashu the other man was more likely to join the asian than David. Loashu was strong enough alone, another man would make this job impossible.
David took a deep breath, and hoped that Loashu hadn't recognized him, he looked down trying to hide his face, and slowly and discretely walked closer and closer to these men.

Janus groaned a little at the question that was asked of him, knowing that his patience would not last long with this man. However, he had a job and his group was willing to pay Janus a reasonable sum of money to do an easy job. Only to steal some ancient, powerful artifact, and kill a human. He really wished that he would get hired for the more entertaining jobs. Outside of Janus' mind, he wore a slightly irritated expression on his face, clearly annoyed by the man's obvious question. "Naw. I'm the damned tooth fairy." Janus closed his eyes and counted down from ten to calm himself back down and get ready to listen. "So. What's the mission again, Mouse boy?" He smirked, looking the other male over, taking in his suit and posture. Almost everything on the Chinese man was made of silk. Oh yeah, Janus was definitely getting money for this one. Especially looking at who he had to kill.
Loashu awaited conformation that he had the right person. However, the male before him seemed to be irritated at his question. What a strange reaction. Loashu was almost ready to apologize to him before the foreigner made a very sarcastic remark. Laoshu smiled a little to himself, wanting to kill this man, but knowing that his superiors would be displeased. That was the problem with mercenaries like this fool; they were used to being independent and not listening to orders. Even over the phone, he had learned to hate this man. He sighed as the red-eyed male asked him about the mission he had been bought for. He drew in a breath and explained, knowing that he would probably have to make this as simple as possible, stretching the words and putting emphasis on each syllable. "You're job is to steal the Dragon's Opal. Vincent Fang Kang keeps it on a necklace in his house. You must bring it back to me, and kill Mr. Fang."
Laoshu looked around the foreigner in front of him, certain that he had seen an old familiar face behind him. It looked like a boy that the group had been after, one with special powers over ice. He frowned as the red-eyed man coughed, thinking that maybe he wanted his attention back. He looked the male over, already dismissing the thought of the boy from his head. He sighed and waved his right hand in a 'shooing' manner. "That is all, Mr. Janus. You may leave now."
Janus puts his shades back on and yawned, then turned his back to the boring man and walked off. He lazily waved as he walked off, "See ya, Mousey boy!" The male walked in the direction of the boy who had been stalking him, having a little time to kill before he had to get to work. He was wondering why the boy had decided to stalk him from McDonald's; could he be a part of the group? A spy sent to see whether or not Janus was qualified?
As David got closer he was able to hear some parts of the conversation, even though confusing. He could have sworn he overheard the word 'tooth-fairy', but he soon dismissed that for it was likely to be a sarcastic remark. His attention was fully caught when he heard Loashu speaking. Oh, how he recognized that voice, hateful voice, he had to struggle again to control his impulse to jump on him. “Your job is to steal the Dragon's Opal... necklace in his house... back to me, and kill...” These were the words the reached David's ears, he didn't understand who was the man supposed to kill, but it was quite obvious it was the same person he was going steal some Dragon's Opal from.
David wasn't one to be impressed by killing and murdering, ever since he found out about his powers and got involved with the cult it became things that he dealt on regular basis. His normal and peaceful life was long gone, and David knew it. If it were other person, maybe David would let them do whatever they wanted, but no, it was Loashu and David wasn't going to allow that. The elemental didn't care for the victim, he didn't even knew who it was, he only cared on fucking up Loashu's plan. His thought's were interrupted when he realized that the man he mysteriously followed was going towards him. “ Oh sh-” He cursed, debating on whether he should run, or stay in the same place. He was to close now, it was useless try to escape.

Janus sighed as he watched the ice elemental, as he was sure this male was, react to his approach. This man was debating whether to face him, or flee. Janus smiled a little as the man decided to stand his ground; at least he wasn't dealing with a rabbit. Janus smoothed his hair through his splayed out fingers, and flashed the stalker a welcoming smile, admiring the fact that he had decided not to run away. He had either decided to confront Janus, or that he was unable to flee; either way, he stayed his ground. He opened up with what he hoped was a friendly enough greeting, "Hey there, faggot. Why have you been stalking me?"
Janus studied the male as he spoke, taking in the multiple stories he could get from his body, and what Janus knew of his powers. The way that the male stood bespoke of some form of fear, and a hidden rage. Something had happened to this elemental recently in order to open some sort of old wounds, and awaken the killing blood in his veins. Janus smirked, thinking slightly better of the annoying male he had observed at McDonald's.

The male approached David with a smile. Clearly he knew the elemental was following him, so there was no point in lying and denying it. But did he just called him a faggot? This kind of provocation didn't offend the young male, he had been called all the slag names you could imagine in his entire life, but it startled him. “ Because I'm gay, and I want to know where you live so that I can sniff your panties. Also your shadows moves funny ... Fuckface.” David rose his childish shields, with a grin at the corner of his lips David stiffed up thinking that this mysterious man could be a member of the cult himself. But, if he was ,wouldn't he had attack David by now? He maybe didn't recognize David's face, but the cult could have passed him some information about him, so he decided to not let his guard down.
David wanted something from the mysterious man as well. He wanted to know about Loashu, so that he could gather information on how and where he could find him alone. “ That boyfriend of yours... how do you know him?” David highly doubt he would answer his question, but he had nothing to loose when trying.

Janus chuckled at the males quip about panties. Honestly, maybe the kid wasn't that bad. It was obvious that he wasn't a part of Laoshu's group, that obnoxious bastard, trying to call him stupid. Janus could sense some similarities with this male, and knew that he could probably relate to him. But his work, and condition, did not allow him to have friends, he had no room for such luxuries.
As Janus continued to watch, he noticed a look of be-puzzlement and suspicion cross the male's face. Also, he had something about his shadows? Had the male guessed that he was a darkness elemental? Janus had no time to think about it as the other male asked him another question. He wanted to know about that bastard Laoshu?
Janus smirked. "I don't know. Why don't you go suck his dick and find out?" Janus chuckled his head at his childishness, knowing that this male had asked him a serious question. And knowing that he is an ice elemental, Janus felt slightly at ease with him. "The bastard's name is Laoshu. Trust me, you don't want to get mixed up with him. Or me, for that matter. Bad company." Janus gave a friendly smile as he looked up at the mighty oak trees in front of the temple.
Post by David Nero on Sept 7, 2012 11:08:48 GMT -5
“ "I don't know. Why don't you go suck his dick and find out? “ David chuckled. “ I think he'd prefer the other way around.” He responded to man. He examined more carefully the male, feeling more at ease. As he spoke the suspicions that he belonged to the cult diminished as well. Also he seemed to not be very fond of Loashu either. That was a point in his favor. “ Yeah, I should know about that...Why are you working for him then?” David compressed his lips, regretting what he said after speaking. Every single word in that sentence was a mistake. He was giving up the impression he knew about Loashu, and also heard the conversation between the two males.
He pulled off his hoodie due to the heat, and rubbed his curly hair with his fingers, cursing himself for such a error. The man could now decide David knew to much, and want to delete him, like he would the guy he was sent to kill.

Janus laughed a little at the male's words regarding Loashu's sexual preferences and smiled at him. The boy seemed to have lost his tension, and that made Janus relax as well, knowing that he had established an atmosphere of at least acquaintanceship. However, the boy then said something that made Janus think.
'Yeah, I should know about that... Why are you working for him then?' Those two sentences instantly fed a meaning into Janus' calculative mind. First off, this boy knew about Loashu alread, and it sounded like it came from personal experience. Maybe he actually was a part of the group? Especially considering the question he had asked. 'Why are you working for him?' Was this a test from Loashu and his group in order to see how loyal Janus was to the job. And the way he behaved afterwords, acting as though he had just made a mistake he was supposed to avoid at all costs.
Janus had no idea what to think of the boy, since he didn't seem like someone the group would use. Then again, Janus had no idea about anything dealing with the group. His only contact with it was Loashu. Maybe this boy was a spy, recruited by the group because he would be least expected to be a spy. A young boy who acted like a self-centered westerner. The odd accent seemed scottish, and his looks and dress definitely screamed out tourist. To be safe, whether the boy was a spy or not, Janus answered with an honest reply that would neither arouse suspicions, nor give off any sense of rebellion. The male smiled and said probably the simplest thing he could have came up with, "For the money, of course."
