The winter breeze whipped through the animal's fur, it running through the thick deep snow. A smirk graced its lips as it ran, feeling the hard ground underneath its massive paws.
Looking to the side, a smile graced the animal's lips. The massive over sized beast stayed near the forest, drawing away from the villages near. She didn't wish to be discovered, for her kind was extinct...or at least should be. The ice breaking that had occurred practically wiped her entire history, luckily her father's descendant had survived in hibernation. Her blood continued, unfortunately, she was the only one that could change into their natural beasts. The animals they were created to become. Being the only one within her family that could do so, caused the family to not only worship her and take her blood to help create more of her, but also distrust her entirely.
She was the black sheep, until her brother came along. Looking down, a sigh passed her large fur covered lips.
Brother... Shaking her head, she caused her fur to rustle the snow that had fallen upon her. Looking about, she heard someone...or something near. Narrowing her eyes, her fur covered body tumbled and leaped through the snow. This saber tooth tiger would not be caught today, or any time soon.

His traveling has lead him back to Russia in the knee high snow that made it difficult to walk. He was hunting a killer, a man that slaughtered men for his own paranoia. The villagers took him as far as they could, he was on foot now. Walking through the snow he kept to the trees where the snow was slightly less, still deep none the less.
The sounds of snow crunching in a running pattern filled the silence. Morrigan was perched on his shoulder in her nest of old rags that he gave her to keep warm. Looking around every now and then in the direction of the sounds. Unable to see what was causing them he kept walking.
Testing how deep the snow before him is with his scythe, he mostly used it as a walking stick when traveling. A poor use for a scythe but it worked well in this situation. Stopping in his tracks he saw the tracks that were made by a large animal. Kneeling down to look at them closely he saw they were of a cats. Either a very large Siberian tiger or something that was thought to be lost.

She continued running, only to stop near a still running stream and leaned down, licking at its delicious liquid. It tasted heavenly down her throat, her body already heating up due to the cold weather. It kept her nice and relaxed, not overheating like many other places within the world. Her senses kicked in, for she felt something following her. Turning, she noticed her tracks and how large they were.
She was a large cat, and for that, had large paws. Slowly, she made her way onwards, leading the follower, whomever it was, towards the cave she decided to stay at for her time being here.
Originally, she had come searching here thinking scientists might have brought her brother here, being she was a saber tooth, them might possibly assuming he was one as well. She dreaded the thought of them bringing him here, for he was reptilian, and would surely die in this cold weather.
A low growl of furry passed her lips. If they caused his death, she'd slaughter them helplessly. She would enjoy ripping their skin apart and hanging their organs upon the walls with their heads sticking out from the fans. Licking her lips, her eyes shown dangerously as she continued her quest to the small cave she chose to sleep in for the night.
Images of her brother would flash through her mind from time to time, how hopeless he must feel caged and alone from the world. Oh how she despised the government for taking him away, for taking her family all away. However, she knew not everyone within the government had caused this blood bath, and she would make sure she'd only get the ones that were.
Continuing on her run, she felt something prick her paw, causing a dot of blood to fall upon the fresh white snow. A growl passed her lips as she hurried along, getting to her cave as soon as she could. Even with her thick fur, if her would was exposed for too long, she could be in some serious trouble.

He followed the foot prints of the large feline. The trail took him to the small creek where he could see it stood for a little while getting a drink. Jumping on the next bank he looked around for the trail, spotting it he started following it again, slowing down he knew he was on a fresh trail and needed to be cautious.
The sounds of snow falling from trees was all around, he looked at the louder piles of snow falling. Stopping for a second he noticed the small specks of blood in the snow. Squatting down he touched the blood covered snow, seeing it follows the same trail in a foot print he guessed it got stabbed by a thorn or something in the paw. He could tell it was in a hurry, the trails in the snow and the tracks, it looked as if it was running. He was only walking, to catch up to this creature it would take him a while.

When the saber tooth tiger that was Adelaide would have padded into her cave, she would be struck by an odd sight. Upon the ground, a fire burned, it’s flickering tongues of reds, yellows and oranges stretching themselves towards the roof of the cave. And yet, the fire burned on nothing but the ground itself, an impossible feat. Beside this small impossible fire, a woman sat. Her hair was as red as the flames, and she sat cross-legged with her hands stretched towards the fire as if she were trying to keep warmth in her body. Despite the cold, she was dressed in nothing more than a white Greek-styled dress, known as a chiton, and she did not seem cold even with her position. There were also some clothing, nice warm ones, folded beside her, and yet she did not touch them.
The woman, none other than the Goddess Varos Talantos, looked up at the creature’s entrance, and smiled kindly. She stood, her small frame straight and proud, as one of Royal blood is taught to stand since young age. She clasped her hands together and looked over the saber tooth, before gesturing to the clothing beside her, kept warm by the impossible fire. “Adelaide Bernadette, take these. They are for you, and shall keep you warm. Dress quickly, for another being approaches and I wished to talk to you briefly before hand. You see, I have a proposition for you...”
Her voice trailed, giving the creature some time to let everything she saw and heard sink into her mind. The smile never wavered from Varos’ face during the whole ordeal. They only had a tad of time before the Reaper appeared, and she wished for a few private words. It would also be for the best if Adelaine took on a humanoid form. No, not for Varos’ sake, for she could easily just skim through the mind to understand Adelaide’s words. But for Adelaide’s own sake, and for the Reaper's sake when he arrived, as a meeting with a saber tooth may cause the two of them problems.

She hurried into her cave, only to come face to face with a goddess herself. The saber tooth looked down at the woman, for the saber's height was great. Nodding with respect, she took notice of the clothing and walked towards them, her giant paws crunching against the dirt. With great disdain, she slowly changed back. The crunching of her bones caused the goddess to understand the pain her body undertook with each change, for an elder shape shifter was one of the original, one of the few strong and noble that tried to keep balance upon the lands.
Slowly, a small woman of the height about 5'3" with bright blue hair stood nude within the cold cave. Her body radiated with heat as she slipped the loose clothing on, then turning her face towards the goddess. Clasping her hands behind her, she stood proudly in the presence of the woman.
She could feel her hand slowly heal from the prick of something against it earlier, allowing the blood to seep back inside of her (heal). She wished not to look weak within the presence of a Goddess.
"Adelaide Bernadette, take these. They are for you, and shall keep you warm. Dress quickly, for another being approaches and I wished to talk to you briefly before hand. You see, I have a proposition for you..."
Her eyebrow raised with curiosity as she listened to Varos, nodding for her to continue.
"Yes, m'lady? What can I do for yourself?" Her voice held much respect, for she had only met gods and goddess's within her dreams, never once in person. She had assumed she was doing good, for none visited her in person before. The offer must either be great, or terrible. She only assumed the first for the goddess's lips were in a sincere smile, one she could feel trustworthy.

As he followed the trail of the beast he wondered what it could be. They say curiosity killed the cat but curiosity would answer his questions. The trail he was following went on for a good ways, he watched it ahead of him leading deeper into the wilderness. The small specks of blood still in the paw prints in the snow showing he was on the right trail.
Reaching up he stroked the feathers on Morrigan's chest while running through the list of known big cats that lived in this part of the world. Only cats bigger then tigers were the saber tooth tigers but they weer supposed to be extinct. Maybe one did survive or maybe it was a supernatural, he wouldn't know until he found it.
He walked in the creatures tracks, mainly to destroy them but also to make it somewhat easier to walk in this snow. The cold didn't bother him, he enjoyed the snow. It made tracking easier and hindered most people in their movement. The white cloth that hangs from his body dragged in the snow behind him, it was soaked but would dry easily once out of the snow.

The Goddess watched as the large creature that surpassed even her (still small-ish) frame of five foot five nodded in respect. Large yet silent paws padded closer, but unlike the reaction of a normal person, Varos did not even feel a flicker of fear. Nor was she even fazed by the cracking, the breaking and the reformation of bones or the rippling muscles as they went through the beautifully grotesque action of changing. The saber tooth tiger shrunk before her very eyes, and although the Goddess felt a flahs of sympathy, understanding the wretched pain this poor girl had to go through, she still kept up that kind and trustful smile.
The great beast became a woman shorter than herself, which was surprisingly rare among super naturals. All of them just seemed to have tall heights, and a Shifter would be able to choose any height they wished. The nudity didn’t bother her, she was thousands of years old, and the immature fear of nudity didn’t even cross her mind. She waited patiently as Adelaide dressed herself, knowing the woman would freeze in these conditions without the warmth of clothes. She waited as the Shifter healed herself before finally straightening herself out and speaking. Her voice was filled with respect, and unlike many, this girl actually realized the high status of the red-haired stranger before her.
“My darling, this proposition would be of benefit to us both. Your history and your current goals have caught my attention. I know of your struggles, of your father and your brother. And I wish to help you. Sadly, I cannot simply bring him to you, but I could help you.”
She paused, letting the words sink in a tad. “The concepts of revenge, and of justification, are things which I have always enjoyed. I wish to aid you in gathering your revenge and to save your brother. But… If I were to grant you this help, it should not end there. Work in my name, seek to help balance prevail in the world. Pray in the name of Balance, and I shall return the kindness and help you. It is an easy task, and the more you commit, the more you are rewarded.”
She held out her hand, as if ready to shake on it. The clashing colours of the two women’s hairs flickered in the firelight as Varos held out her hand, offering her services.

“My darling, this proposition would be of benefit to us both. Your history and your current goals have caught my attention. I know of your struggles, of your father and your brother. And I wish to help you. Sadly, I cannot simply bring him to you, but I could help you.”
Her words were simple as Adelaide stayed silent, listening to the Goddess. It surprised her that she had gained the attention of the woman, for she never thought she was good enough to catch the attention of a God or Goddess.
The words that came from Varos's lips made a smile spread across Adelaide's lips. A Goddess, wanting her to worship Balance? Wasn't that what she had done before? Without the worshiping part though. The Goddess offered her hand to shake, making her words sink in more. She took a step towards the Goddess, and for the second time of their chat, she opened her mouth to speak.
"Not out of disrespect when I ask of this, but I have heard of some Gods and Goddesses that wish for things in return. Are you one of them? If so, what would you care for in return for my services?" She tilted her head to the side, still showing the respect the Goddess deserved, yet her eyes said she spoke of business as well. She never went into a deal without knowing all of the corners deep within it. For that is how her father ended up within his grave, and her brother getting caught in the first place.

Watching where the trail leads he saw it was heading for the rock outcropping, he could guess that's where the creatures cave is. The sound of faint voices could be heard as he got closer to the cave. It was a good distance off still, he sped up to get there sooner.
The voices he heard were only of two women, wondering what they are doing all the way out here he quickly shape shifted into his human form, it was then he realized how cold it was out there. Thinking to his self that it might not of been one of his best ideas to change into this form.
As he walked up to the cave he stepped into the entrance and looked inside, seeing the two women he pondered why they were all the way out here. Looking over the smaller blue haired girl he could tell she must of been the one that created the tracks, a shapeshifter most likely.
The goddess in front of the shapeshifter is the one that caught his eye. She was beautiful and powerful, he wished to know more of her but that would have to come later, he need to first find out if they would even allow him to be here. He watched them both for a few seconds before speaking a simple word. "Hello"

She watched as a grin that matched the width of her own kind smile spread in turn on Adelaide’s lips. She waited patiently as the Shifter woman took a step forward, keeping her hand elongated towards the other woman. Her hand seemed to almost shimmer with beautiful silver light, but it faded as she dropped her hand, as the Shifter had spoken.
A laugh of pure delight escaped Varos’ red lips as the woman spoke, and her grin widened even more. “No my child, you do not offend me. I am glad to see that such an intelligent mind follows My Ways. And I wish nothing more than your devotion to them. Darling Adelaide, if you agree to follow me, I will come to you if I am in need of something done, that is true. But, unlike with some, you will always retain the right to refuse, as I do not remove free will from my Followers. All you must do is worship me, and Balance. Try to establish it in this chaotic, entropic world. If you do that, and if you choose to accept the favors I ask of you, I will repay you in full. Powers beyond the reach of you mortals will become accessible to you. Already I shall grant you a small one, as long as you take me as your Patron Goddess. I will watch and care for you, and all I ask is the same amount of love in return. It is simple. I know you already follow the ways of Balance, causing both Order and Chaos to keep our world beautifully equal.”
Her hand was extended again. “So, do you agree? I am not a selfish God, and you shall always receive a just reward to your actions. There is no catch, and no trick. Just love I, and love Balance, and We shall love You in return.”
A sudden voice interrupted them, and Varos turned her smile to the Reaper. He too was one who followed her ways. She dropped her hand and suddenly disappeared, reappearing in front of the Reaper. She grinned. “I already know what your answer would be.”
Her left hand rose, shimmering with that silver power, and rested on his right shoulder blade. A flash of power could be felt within the cavern, and a beautiful bright silver light that for some reason would not even give the urge to blink with its contradictory harmlessness to the eyes filled the room for a brief second. Varos removed her hand, and a shimmering silver circle blinked on the man’s clothing, before fading, the only leftover being the identical mark on his hidden shoulder blade. Varos smiled and kissed the man’s forehead. “Thanatos, I have watched you. You do your best to keep Balance in your world, and worship me despite not knowing my name. This Mark will show any whom recognize it that you are beloved to me. You are known as a Dispenser of Dues. This Marking will bring you aid from the Universe itself. Odds are in your favor, and Luck has become yours. Beware, for even Luck can be fickle.”
She turned back to Adelaide, walking over this time instead of just appearing. She smiled and took slow steps, her smile radiating. “So, Adelaide, do you agree?” For the final time, Varos held out her hand, pausing just a step out of Adelaide’s reach. It shimmered with silver, the essence of Varos herself ready to be graced upon this other mortal.

I know you already follow the ways of Balance, causing both Order and Chaos to keep our world beautifully equal.”
Her words made Adelaide's silverish white eyes sparkle with delight, for she had done so with Balance for years without worship before. The Goddess extended her hand, ready for their deal to be made.
“So, do you agree? I am not a selfish God, and you shall always receive a just reward to your actions. There is no catch, and no trick. Just love I, and love Balance, and We shall love You in return.”
Her eyes were directed from the beauty due to a lone man within her cave. She assumed he was the tracker, for she had known for a while someone would come following the large tracks of some creature. His voice surprised her, but it seemed as if the Goddess had been expecting the man as well. Varos disappeared and reappeared before him, resting her hand upon his shoulder after speaking. Her words slightly confused the Saber Tooth, for she didn't know exactly what the Goddess had meant. Something shimmered upon him, making her eyes squint slightly. The Goddess kissed the male's forehead, speaking afterwords.
Her words stunned Adelaide, for afterwards she walked towards the shifter and smiled calmly.
“So, Adelaide, do you agree?”
The Goddess extended her hand towards Adelaide, standing out of the shifter's reach. She could sense the Goddess would rather her come to Varos, then pushing herself into Adelaide's 'bubble', per say. She looked at the hand, debating on the offer. She had never needed a God or Goddess's help before, but yet she felt she might need it later. Plus, this Goddess claimed she needed nothing in return for her services. She knew she might need help defeating against the men and possibly women that caused her brother's disappearance, so taking the offer wouldn't hurt. Besides, she shown respect to the shifter. Many Gods and Goddess's rarely did that now-a-days. She took a silent breath, before looking up into the eyes of the Goddess of Balance.
"I take upon your offer, allowing my services to you Goddess."
The shifter took a step forward and pressed her hand against Varos's, sealing the deal.
♫ -You hunted me down Like a wolf, a predator I felt like a deer in the lights- ♫
As he watched the goddess smile at him and disappear he blinked, when he opened his eyes she was in front of him. He smiled in return to hearing her words. “I already know what your answer would be.”
He watched her hand rise and shimmer with silver, he felt her place it on his right shoulder blade. The feeling of her power came over him as the beautiful silver light engulfed the room in. When the light faded he looked at her before leaning down for her as she kissed his forehead. Her words "You are known as a Dispenser of Dues." repeated in his head a few times before he spoke. "My goddess.. Thank you." Standing up straight the flesh he used to disguise his self fell of his body, revealing his true self.
He walked up to the fire in the cave, passing around the women. He sat down and placed his scythe on the wall next to him. He didn't mind the cold but Morrigan needed to get warmed up. Reaching up he gently stroked her chest feathers as the women talked. He watched them shake hands and heard the blue haired woman say. "I take upon your offer, allowing my services to you Goddess." Thanatos would never of guessed following the tracks of a large creature would end up with him meeting his god and another follower of her.

Thanatos did not react much. She sensed his need to become himself, knowing he thought it would be more respectful to be in his own skin- or rather his lack of it. So he thanked her as his skin began to melt away, disappearing into nothing to leave him as nothing more than a skeleton. He walked around and sat next to Varos’ impossible fire, kept flaming thanks to her power.
She smiled as she listened to what passed though Adelaide’s head, glad she had taken the right approach to the intelligent woman. The blue-haired woman took a calming breath and made her decision. Varos already knew what she would say before the words exited her mouth, but she still offered a warm smile at the words.
"I take upon your offer, allowing my services to you Goddess."
Adelaide stepped forward, closing off the last of the distance between them and taking Varos’ hand. The Goddess clasped her fingers around the shifter’s hand, holding her tightly, but not painfully, as the silver that shimmered around the Goddess’ hand engulphed the Shifter’s as well. The same power could be felt, but now Adelaide got to feel it directly instead of merely being a witness to it. When Varos let go, a shimmering silver circle could be seen in Adelaide’s palm. “Your mark, as a Dispenser of Dues. All that I said to the Reaper shall apply also to you.”
“So may luck be upon you,” Varos grinned, and kissed Adelaide’s forehead. “You shall both make fine Followers.”
The Goddess had no other task to do, so she took a few steps back, giving her two newest Followers one last warm smile as wings grew from nowhere upon Varos’ back. They stretched and folded, and Varos finally turned her back to the two mortals. She calmly walked out of the cave and her wings stretched once more, flapping twice. And yet the Goddess did not fly off, she merely disappeared. Unbeknownst to the two in the cave, she had returned to Shangri-La, and sat by the Pool of Visions, watching the world.

"Your mark, as a Dispenser of Dues. All that I said to the Reaper shall apply also to you. So may luck be upon you. You shall both make fine Followers."
Adelaide couldn't help but smile as the Goddess kissed her forehead. It truly made her smile knowing the Goddess blessed her with such. Watching, Adelaide saw the Goddess spread her full wings and just...disappear. A small sigh of disappointment passed the shifter's lips as she smiled and shoved her hands into the sleeve pockets.
Looking over to the stranger, she couldn't help but arch an eyebrow. His lack of skin was very strange, but not abnormal. He sat near the fire that the Goddess had created, leaving it going for the two to use. Casually, Adelaide made her way on over to the opposite side of the fire, sitting upon the ground and brought her one knee up to her chest and the other laying straight upon the dirt beneath her. The clothes the Goddess had offered the shifter hung loose over her, letting her seem lazy and relaxed instead of busy and in need of a good nap. Her long bright blue hair fell around her shoulders as she shoved the sleeves of the sweatshirt upwards to her elbows. A smirk spread over her lips as she looked over at the man.
Her eyes seemed to glow from the fire as she stared at the male; silver white orbs glowing at the man across from her.
She finally spoke, allowing a conversation to filter between the two of them. Her thick German accent flew against the cave walls as her eyebrow arched.
"Hello, stranger."
