It was unusually quiet, save for the sound of some crows, which was the only sound that made this forest somewhere in northern Europe seem like it was at all alive. The expanse of forest was grey and foggy, eerily so, the foliage barren from the trees having shed most of their leaves. The time was late autumn, and it was a cool and cloudy afternoon, although it was hardly bright out. The dense overcast as well as the thick fog that blanketed the forest kept it only dimly lit, causing dark shadows to reach out from the trees and cover the ground with streaks of black.
The stillness of the forest was interrupted as a group of birds suddenly took flight. The rumble of a lone van slowly became present, the noise of the engine having spooked the birds. It drove quickly down the old, beat-up country road which cut through the forested landscape. To anyone that glanced at the van passing by, they would have thought nothing of it. Perhaps some people were heading to their cottage for the fall, or maybe visiting a relative who lived near these woods. They wouldn't know that in the back of the van, three people were being held against their will, the victims of a recent kidnapping. The four culprits responsible for the crime were headed to an abandoned house in the middle of the forest, to carry out their sick intentions, and as far as they were concerned they were the only ones out here. Or so they thought...
As the van drove down the road a faint sound could be heard coming from within the forest. The rattling of chains and the creaking of bones faintly echoed against the rest of the forest ambiance. The source of this sound, foreign amongst the rest of the noise of these woods, came from a shadowy figure moving quickly through the trees in pursuit of the van. It was skeletal in appearance and donned a long and ragged black cloak. Lengths of chain hung from the cloak and from large shackles dangling on its wrists. Other chains were tied around the figure's arms and torso, countless skulls hanging from them as trophies. The being ran quickly, cloak flowing through the air. It looked as though a small could of smoke was weaving its way through the forest, keeping up with the speeding van. This being was a Reaper, and one that was well known for claiming the lives of dozens of murderers, killers, and kidnappers.
Those that are hunted by him see only glimpses of a tall, shadowy figure, and in their final moments only the darkened hood and the swing of the scythe. He has come to be known as the Grim Reaper, the Black Angel, the Executioner, Death. He himself knows of only one name, the one few beings alive have ever heard.

He had just left Rome.
He was in a tree in a forest, and a van drove past the tree. Before he could jump down and question the stupid humans, he heard the sound of chains... He saw a tall, shadowy figure. Hopefully the figure wouldn't see him in the treetops, jumping from tree to tree in a very Naruto-esque way. He watched as the figure ran, knowing he was seeing something few lived to tell the tale of... and one of the few such people was his long dead father. His father had told him stories of a Chained Reaper, an Executioner of sorts. He had told a story of running from him, and managing to escape by taking to the air.
[note; flashback, not present] His father was running... the sounds of chains behind him. He just kept running, not stopping until he took to the air. The one he was running from knew only one name for himself. A name that very few had heard and lived to tell the tale of. Revenant.
He recognized the Reaper by the description he had been told by his father (when a human would have looked at Nakashi and said he was five years old. Now they would say he was fourteen years.)
He just kept watching, hoping not to be seen as he leapt from branch to branch near the top of the tree.

The van eventually drove into the driveway of the abandoned house, Revenant still in pursuit. He knew he had to play this out carefully, not wanting to risk the innocent victims getting hurt if things went wrong. There was a sudden feeling that someone was watching him, but he didn't pay much attention to it. He didn't have time to be worrying about being watched, and he doubted anyone would be following him. If someone were following they were probably just curious, and nothing to be concerned about. Running quickly towards the house, he silently ducked behind a tree next to it. He stood there, back against the tree, until he could hear people exiting the van. Muffled screams were mixed with shoving as two of the armed kidnappers pushed their victims inside, slamming the door behind them.
Revenant was waiting for just the right moment when he noticed quite a large spider crawling towards his shoulder. Normally anyone would freak out at the sight of this, but to Revenant this wasn't anything to worry about. This spider was a familiar one to him, having known it for many years. It was a companion of his, and it accompanied him everywhere he went, usually on his shoulder. However, this was a dangerous situation Revenant was getting himself into, and he often had his friend crawl into his ribcage in such situations. "Not now Skar, it's not safe", he whispered as he motioned for the spider not to come out just yet. Seeing this, the spider turned around and crawled back in-between the ribs of his caretaker, where he would be safe.
Revenant waited until the last two humans were inside the house. He decided now was the time to move. He sprinted around to the front of the house, being careful not to pass by the view of any windows. Reaching the front, his body became incorporeal, and he sunk into the ground. Phasing through the earth underneath the house, he found where the captives were being held. As the kidnappers stood in the room of the house around their victims Revenant slowly rose from through the floor behind them, readying himself for combat.

He saw Revenant disappear into the ground. He stopped at the top of a birch tree, and climbed down. It was a very slow process, as he couldn't really jump without the use of his wings; he would just fall to his death, or possobly serious injury. When he finally reached the ground, he stood beside the door, waiting for the reaper to come out. When the reaper finally did come out, he would be watchimg the reaper, maintaining eye contact with any part of the reaper, causing him to appear to be invisible. If the illusion was broken, he would wait to see how the reaper reacted. If the illusion wasn't broken, he would climb the trees after the reaper left and continue to follow.

The one standing in the corner of the room was the first to notice the towering cloaked figure rising from the floor behind them. Upon seeing Revenant, he fainted and collapsed onto the floor, dropping his gun. Two of the kidnappers spun around to see what was behind them, and gasped, their eyes wide with fear. Quickly drawing their guns they opened fire, spraying the hallway with a hail of bullets. Revenant just stood there silent, the bullets passing through him harmlessly. "Just keep wasting your ammo, I'm sure it's bound to work eventually", he thought to himself sarcastically as he rolled his eyes.
The one at the back of the room saw what was happening, grabbed one of the hostages, and ran out the back door. "Ugh...", Revenant grunted. He didn't need anyone getting away with any victims. The two people still shooting at him turned to try and run, but Revenant was already upon them. A sickle quickly shot out from the sleeve of the Reaper's cloak and was thrown into the air. At the same time, Revenant lunged out with his leg and grabbed one of the fleeing gunmen by the head, lifting him into the air with his foot and smashing him down face first into the floor. The chain-sickle then came down on the other gunman and spun around his neck, the blade catching on the chain and locking in place. Revenant pulled his weapon back, yanking the human off his feet and sending him careening past him. The blade unhinged itself from the chain as the gunman smashed through the front door of the house, just missing the Daemon standing next to it, and tumbled down the front lawn before colliding with a tree.
With two culprits taken care of, and the third still unconscious, Revenant burst through the back door after the last one.

After the human flew past him into the lawn, Nakashi ran to the human, who was on the ground. "What the hell are you doing?!? I do not tolerate sexual abuse of any kind. Now-" He burned the man's arm, and, finishing what the reaper had started, pulled out his white dagger and stabbed the man in the neck. He returned to the side of the door, and stared at it, waiting for the reaper to come through at any moment. He wouldn't attack the reaper, he was just curious. He would continue to complete the aforementioned turn of actions unless the reaper did something unexpected, such as attack him, or not take the front door. Meanwhile, the human, still bleeding but not quite dead, did something stupid. It pulled out a gun and tried to aim at the daemon. He had positioned himself so he could see the human and the door, and as soon as the gun came out, the humans whole body was burned. The screams would be all too obvious to the reaper as the man suffered burns to the bone, and eventually through the bone. The human was dead. A pile of ashes was in his place.

By the time Revevant had gotten out of the house, his target had already gotten inside the van, taking the hostage with him. Hearing the engine start up, the Reaper bolted towards the van, but it was already on the road and pulling away at full speed. He was about to catch up to it, but he heard something he wasn't expecting. A bloodcurdling scream pierced through the air, catching Revenant by surprise. Realizing that one of the gunmen could have recovered and attacked the hostages, causing the scream, he stopped in his tracks and spun around to where it had come from, which was somewhere behind the house in the front yard.
Quickly running out of time as the van zoomed down the road further and further away from him, he made up his mind. He knew he couldn't go running after the van if he was to save the screaming hostage from being killed, and he couldn't leave the van or else the other hostage in it would be taken away. He quickly grabbed both his chain-sickles and swung them both full-force towards the van. The blades easily impaled the sides of the van which came to a sudden stop, then started spinning its wheels trying to drive away. Revenant cringed under the strain of holding the vehicle back, and mustering all his strength, pulled the chains back. His chain-sickles were pulled out of the van as it was pulled backwards towards him, rolling over onto its side. Revenant quickly grasped the handles of his weapons as they flew back into his hands. Combining them together into a double bladed scythe, he swung the blade at the van before it collided with him, slicing it in two.
The two halves of van came to a stop beside Revenant, and he wasted little time grabbing the stunned driver and throwing him out of the wreck. With no time to lose, he headed back inside the house, only to find that the two other hostages were still there. Confused, he ran out the front door into the yard to find the source of the scream.

The things humans would do disgusted him. He decided to drop the illusion as the reaper went past him into the house, seemingly appearing out of nowhere when the reaper left the building. It would surprise a lot of people, but he wouldn't be surprised if Revenant had expected it. The wpot whete the ashes of what was once a human kidnapper wrre lit ablaze. That would catch the reapers attention almost for sure. He didn't pull out a weapon; he didn't have any on him, and he wasn't planning on fighting the reaper either. He was just standing there, looking at the remains of the van. 'Damn. Never thought I'd see someone do that' he thoight to himself. He was surprised the reaper hadn't detected his presence already; almost every supernatural he tried to sneak up on seemed to somehow be able to.

When Revenant reached the front yard of the house he immediately noticed a pile of ash. Kneeling down to examine it, he realized they were the remains of one of the kidnappers. The next thing he noticed was a Daemon standing there. He looked at the Daemon, realizing he was the one whose presence he felt earlier. Revenant stood up and turned to face him, although he had to look down since he was more than twice his height. "You were following me..." he said to the Daemon, looking at him suspiciously.
He turned to walk back to the ashes which were still smoldering. "I don't kill unless those I hunt have killed. This one didn't need to die." Taking his weapons, he combined them into a double bladed scythe, then swung it in an arc in front of him creating a wind that blew the ashes into the air. As the ashes scattered, he separated his weapon into his two chain-sickles and tucked them away within his cloak, then turned towards the house. "Do me a favour and free the two hostages in the house. I'm going to get the one in the van."
With that he turned and left, walking towards the van, or what was left of it. Seeing that the human inside was shaken but otherwise alright, he picked her up and carried her into the house to put her with the others.
