Adam let's out an uproar of laughter at this. "Have you not been paying attention to me hun?" he smiles playfully as he closes the truck bed and starts to walk back. "I've fallen for you...." He can't help but laugh now, he still showed signs of being extremely nervous yet he was able to push through it. "I simply mean that I'll either do something stupid for you and die... or you'll kill me...." He shakes his head as he tries to walk past her. He had to bury this human body and he had no time to let his emotions get the best of him like he did when they were relaxed. Adam seemed to be the kind that once his mind was on the task at hand he was able to move hell and high water to get it done. A slight glimor of his true nature does shine through however as he apologizes for earlier. "Sorry for pushing my luck... not sorry about kissing ya but sorry for the timing...." He smiles softly as he looks at her with a shovel over his shoulder. "Couldn't help it.... "

"I've fallen for you...."
Rae had some fond memories of love.
One warm summer’s day on the Embankment, Chelsea, London, the boats were out in force on the river Thames. She was out for a picnic in St James’ park, with her family. Her parents and Caleb had joined her for her birthday. She had just been bought a new horse, a young strong creature with a diamond on his nose. She remembered calling him diamond and chatting happily to her father about racing him and raising him to be fantastic. On that day Barney, her school crush had come to join them. He, though perhaps her memory painted and tainted him to be so, was tall and handsome; he brought her flowers and asked her to the summer ball. He was a knight in shining armour, a true prince charming and Rae had been enamoured with him. He was the kind of boy who sent the teenage heart a fluttering.
Was this how Adam protested to feel about her now?
Rae frowned at him a little, watching him as he went to his truck and took out a shovel. She did not move from her spot, but her chocolate brown eyes followed him as he went about burying the body of the human.
Her mind was momentarily distracted by the thoughts of humans and vampyres working together. She had come across this before. Her mind flickered back, presenting the memories too her like photographs;
Jonas had recognised her and he, with his shade friend, Tezel, came straight over to Rae, leaving the other hunters to take care of the tiger. He grabbed her by the shoulder and dragged her towards the now empty bar, shoving her down into a seat.
“What in hells name do you think you are doing, girl?!” The man growled at her in disgust.
Rae wet her lips, rubbing her shoulder as he released it.
“Whose damned side are you on?!” He snarled, spitting and showering her with spray as he raged at the eighteen year old.
Rae didn’t flinch from him, but stared him straight in the eye as she said; “You’re the one travelling with a Vampyres mutt.”
Tezel hit her. Her hand, with pointed nails swung out and caught Rae across the face, leaving dangerous scratches under her left eye. Rae’s head swung to the side and she hissed with pain as blood began trailing down her cheek.
“Careful I don’t feed you, in tiny pieces, to my master.” Tezel warned, curling herself, seductively into Jonas’s arm.
It clicked in Rae’s head then. None of them were really like her- they all had something about them, something alluring like Tezel- where the vampyres recruiting hunters? Was it wilful recruitment? Her eyes widened, a little surprised as it all clicked into place. These weren’t hunters, travelling together and hunting the damned of the world, these were hunters controlled by vampyres, taking out the competition, acting as blood-minions. It was…genius…and terrifying.
“Join us, Rae. It feels amazing.” Jonas said; “You’re father would be proud of you kid, come with us.”
Vampyres emplying hunters, promising them eternity…enslaving them. The thought shivered through her and she become momentarily distracted by it. Rae wet her lips; “Wait-“ She said, looking at the half buried mud-mound. “Try staking him.” She said. It seemed like a ludicris request, but if he wasn’t simply human, if he was in league with the vampire and made a servant by them then he would not just die now from the bullet through his head.
Fortunately the thought of work distracted her from his growing emotional attachment to her. Rae could really only deal with one worldly fuck-up at a time, his heart would have to wait. There were too few good-guys in the world. Perhaps if she ignored his emotions they could still be allies? Who knows, perhaps she would develop feelings for him in return? That…was a mystery for another day.

Adam takes the silence as rejection, he was fine, while unpleasant he still felt the need to help her even if it meant swollowing a little pride. He rests his jacket on the ground, it lands with a somewhat heavy thud as he then removes his shirt and sets it on top of his jacket. The muscles of his body are toned and resemble that of a gymnast or runner. The moon light reflects the sweat he starts to build up as he's digging deeper and deeper. While the woman was lost in thought, he finished and already started to bury the man yet once the words escaped her mouth his head perked. 'wait' What the hell was he to wait for? After she explained he thoughts he let out a heavy sigh as he let out a soft. "You fuckin' shittin' me... couldn't of said that before I st....Ugh...." Hopping into the hole to dig out the dirt to plunge a stake in his heart just seems to throw more dirt onto him.
Finally after digging the hole, throwing the body in the hole, burying it half way, redigging it out, then hopping up to grab a stake, hopping back in to stake it, climbing out, and THEN filling it back up, Adam is finally done and filthy. He does not put his shirt or jacket on yet as he walks back to the truck, speaking nothing, the bright light from the moon reflects just how many scars he has on his body as well as the outline for his muscles. He is a lot thinner out of his thick and heavy jacket. His gun still rests in it's sling on the back of his pants as he tosses the shovel in the back he seems to grab a towel. "It's done.... You were right, Thanks...."
He starts to wipe himself off as he pulls out a bottled water and some deodorant. After a few wipes and drenching himself with water a couple more times he wipes down one last time and puts on deodorant before walking back to his jacket and shirt. No words are really shared even if she replied to his thanks, he comes back fully dressed and a soft, kind, smile upon his face. "Sorry... I took so long.... did ya wanna stay here and admire the stars or go somewhere?" His voice is welcoming and pleasant, somewhat how he was before shooting those men.

While he went about his business Rae sat beside the mound of earth. She had not offered to help him because she was not sure that it was her place too. First, it maybe that he was ritualising. Many killers did this; it was often how police caught serial killers because of the ritual that the killer undertook. Sure, they may kill people who ‘deserved it’ but they were still killers of a serial variety. Rae, just the last few months since her return from Iceland had killed 42 creatures, 4 of which were humans…people. If she had a ritual she was not aware of it as she physically tried to make each kill different, but the truth was that Rae did not feel content with a kill unless she had removed the head of the victim…perhaps this was superstition, perhaps this was her ritual. She was unsure and did not question these thoughts out loud as she crouched on the mud and listened to the sounds of the forest around her, of his breathing and the slosh of water.
He was handsome, muscular, a little unorthodox and he seemed kind enough. They had similar hobbies didn’t they and he was someone who understood the truths of the world. Would any other girl fall at his feet when he professed feelings for them? Was she unnatural? Rae knew she was damaged, but did that mean she would never function as a girl, in the way other girls did? She ran her fingers through her hair and remained very still.
Disturbed as he came back to her side and suggested they move on, she rose from where she was perched to look at him. Her head tipped to one side she observed him silently for a moment, then she said; “There is a vampire; Arcknis , who is recruiting hunters to his cause.” She told him. “he is dangerous…and I- I think he uses hypnosis.” It was the only explanation she could come up with for hunters deciding to join ‘the dark side’. “If you’re man here was in league with him he will not be the last to come after you. If you have killed from Arcknis’ nest he will send others to avenge the lost.”

Adam laughs a little as he ruffles the woman's hair with his now clean hand. "If I must, I'll kill every last one of them." he says this with a calm and happy tone as a smirk crosses his face. He slowly places his hand on her chin, his thumb gently brushes her cheek as he stares at her eyes. Adam was full of adrenaline as well as memories and a strange concoction of them all in his mind. After what seemed like forever for the man, he let go and rose his hand to the sky as he turned away. "Thank you for the warning..... I appreciate it....."
Adam lowers his hand to basically slide across his face before he turns back with yet another smile. "So did you want to hunt this man or go somewhere else? The only truly safe place -I- know is my home in chicago.... My parents were hunters and made that thing into a fortress..." No ill intent in his voice, just simply informative. Adam extends his hand to her with a soft sigh as he shakes his head and smiles. "Promise I won't kiss ya against your will again." he muses. If she took his hand he would attempt to pull her in to a waltz like pose and then proceed to dance, very well, to the truck. Humming as they go, dipping her and spinning every once and a while. Obviously if she didn't grab his hand or wanted to be let go he wouldn't force her. He simply seemed like he wanted to have fun and distract the two of them from what happened.

The hair ruffle caused Rae to stare at him like he was a juvenile delinquent. She blinked in surprise and nearly slapped him for his careless actions. Just moments ago he had scared her half to death with a hug and now he reached out into her personal space so freely. Unable to move away from his stare as he gazed into her chocolate eyes with his piercing blue once the last thing she expected was for him to pull her into a dance, this movement caught her off-guard and this time she did swing to slap him. Her hand snapped out for his face; faster than an average human and twice stronger than one too she went from off-guard and meek to fierce and beautiful.
For a long time, in silence she stared at him. Rae was surprised at herself, more so than she was surprised at him. He had shocked her into an uncontrolled and punishing action. What did he not understand? She didn’t like to be touched… sure he seemed harmless and seemed so full of the innocence of boy-hood, but Rae had not known a man to be ‘innocent’ for the last five years of her life. “I’m sorry-“ She whispered, instantly. “I-,” Now it was her turn to stumble over her words and she stepped back and away from him once more.
She needed to be coaxed into things, into dancing and laughter, into hugs and soft hand holding. She didn’t feel comfortable with his yet and from her lips came the confession; “I was raped, Adam- you can’t keep catching me unawares like that.” She blamed herself; it was clear as her eyes went down to the ground and her chin rested on her chest. It was a hard thing to admit; but it explained everything. The silver scars on her forearms, her distrust of him, her disliking being so close and her inability to return his affections, albeit how quickly he seemed to fall for her.
Her honesty hurt her. She very rarely spoke out about what had happened to her. If her Uncle caught up to her, if he found her, then this would not be a thing of the past, it would happen again and again and again. “Please,” She said, trying to remain as calm as possible; “Don’t touch me anymore okay?”

The slap kind of puts him off as he starts to apologize again, he doesn't get out much. When she finally speaks he clams up and listens. He clams up, closes his arms and folds them tightly, the urge to hug and try to comfort is there, she might even sense that he wants to hug her yet he keeps himself in check. He closes his eyes takes a deep breath for a moment before he nods slowly as he stands there. "I'm sorry... I... well... I've never really been around people... let alone women.... but... If I may ask....." He suddenly gets a dark tone in his voice. "What was his name...." He slowly pulls out his leather-bound book, he doesn't know how to act around people but he knows how to kill. This is the closest he ever gets to friendships it seems, he aims to kill this man, it doesn't matter if the woman falls for him or not he feels compelled to right this wrong and not let this man live. Adam has already flipped to an open page in his book as he looks at her with determination even though he has no idea why, maybe it's just because this is the first person to seemingly trust him or that she's very attractive and sharing this memory with him.

Rae saw him struggle with this information. Most people did. She didn’t often find people who knew how to react around her, she didn’t often find people who knew how to be ‘normal’ around her once she told them. That was why she’d always been so comfortable with Craig before he left for China. He’d managed to get over the shock, he managed to offer his apologies and then he managed to forget about it and continue with her as if she was normal. Of course, she’d helped him leave, helped him find a new identity and encouraged him to go into hiding in China. Sometimes she regretted it, but it was often too late for regrets, Craig had disappeared off the face of the earth and Rae had to live with that.
"I'm sorry... I... well... I've never really been around people... let alone women.... but... If I may ask.....What was his name...."
His reaction didn’t surprise her, people always went one of two ways. She found it was mostly men that did the heroic thing and set about on some sort of revenge scheme in their chivalrous way. She could understand that, she supposed; she was small and sweet looking, a little odd in her apparel perhaps but often people assumed she needed protecting…maybe she did. Adam looked at her expectantly and Rae just smiled sadly at him, shaking her head a little bit.
“He was – is – my Uncle.” Rae told the other, chewing her bottom lip. “It- it doesn’t matter okay? Just- leave it.” She whispered, still a little unbalanced by all of this.

Adam sighs as he nods. "Understandable... I won't press it nor the reasons behind it... but... yea no..." he smiles brightly again. "Gotcha! Let's go... You wanna go dancing?" He muses as he smiles shyly. "I won't surprise you with it and usually clubs.. you don't have to touch..." He then proceeds to put a fist under his chin and start to think with his other hand holding the other elbow. "Or maybe a movie.... Bars... Hey Wanna go bowling?" He's just spurting off ideas to seemingly keep the night going as well as try to lighten the mood. Adam is an overly excitable person, who seems to be upset when scolded, as well as very protective. If the woman didn't know any better, He'd almost seem like a dog in nature. "OH! I know! Lets go piss off the cops!" His face was lit up as he continued. "This baby can go close to one seventy with no problems.... but no... yea... whatever you want to do..." He just stands there, smile on his face and compassion in his eyes.
Long ago Adam found a stray golden retriever after he killed his uncle, the dog was old and proud yet comforted him when he was down. The two loved eachother and shared everything. The dog, who he named Pete, had a heart of gold to help the boy survive while the boy had a home and food to keep the dog alive. Sadly as with all things, age got the better of them and pete passed away. This dog was the only thing Adam interacted with for a number of years and thus, it seemed, the behavior rubbed off in more ways than one. Adam did not judge people by how they were born or what they were, just how they treated others. With the passing of his only friend, he moved on the silver collar of the dog he loved now always rests with him, it was the silver chain he kept on his pants connected to his wallet. He is done with the tears but it seems he will always have this personality.

Adam reminded Rae of Eli. It wasn’t often that Eli would chase his tail, he was something of a calm dog who followed his mistress’ orders to the absolute letter. But, there were occasions when Eli couldn’t sit still and at that moment Adam reminded Rae of that, he was suddenly so full of that nervous energy that it made her shake her head in disbelief. “Whatever, what do you want to do?” She asked, glancing at the truck. While the thought of getting in trouble with the police seemed like a bad idea to her, for two people who would do better not to get caught or get criminal records, his energy was a little bit contagious. She smiled at him, somewhat glad that he wasn’t allowing her to dwell on her sadness in that moment.
For a moment Rae wet her lips then said; “What do you normally spend your nights doing when you’re not killing things?” Her eyes went to the sky again, it was late, would probably be dawn soon.

Adam smiles as he looks towards the truck. "Usually try to drink my sorrows away but lately I run out of the bottle before it even starts." He says this with a musing tone yet a sharpness is hidden within. "Uhmm.... Are you hungry?" He looks over to her with a smile. "If not just choose something" He starts to walk toward the truck as if nothing had unfolded at all this evening, like two friends had met after some normal event.
All in all, Adam was trying not to touch her even though he felt anxious. Not in a perv way but like a hug or push her or other playful banter. When they get to the truck he turns to her once more. "Wanna drive?" At that the truck roars to life as he leans against the passenger side bed of the truck. Hands in his jacket pockets he starts to blush slightly as she gets closer but quickly shakes his head and returns to normal. "Only if you want to that is...."
Post by Rae-Star Berii on Aug 22, 2013 10:45:49 GMT -5
“Starving.”
She responded to the first question.
“No, you drive.”
She answered to the second.
Rae didn’t eat often, there wasn’t necessarily a good reason for that, and she just didn’t. Often she was too busy to stop and eat properly and when she wasn’t too busy to eat she often did not have the stomach for food. Truth of the matter being that she ate enough to maintain a small bird or squirrel,, picking and snacking as she went along. Food had a scent, scents made you vulnerable to predators. She hadn’t gone out for lunch, or breakfast for that matter, in several months now. Rae seemed to sustain herself on caffeine and alcohol, neither of which were scentless and neither of which were healthy for her. Perhaps it explained why she was so slender?
“Can we not go towards Chicago though?”
He’d mentioned earlier about his family coming from there. Her Uncle lived there last she heard. It was a red zone for Rae, a place she avoided.

He nods as he chuckles. "Anythin' for you hun..." He walks over and opens the passenger door for Rae, when she got in he'd close it and walk around to the driver side. He'd think for a moment before placing his hand behind her seat and leaning slightly toward her and then looking back behind so he would make sure he didn't hit a tree or anything. Once the road was ahead of them he booked it as he held on with one hand and buckled his seatbelt with the other.
Adam starts reaching the eighties as he steps off the gas and coasts slightly before keeping the speed. A small dinner sign rises on the horizon as he begins to slow down, the neon open sign in front is a welcomed sight as he pulls into the parking lot. They had driven for a bit and the sun peaked itself into existance as they got out of the truck. "Beautiful...." Is all Adam says as he watches it, sun radiating on his face as he smiles. He turns to her as he closes his eyes and smiles with all his teeth "Let's eat!" Turning to go in he does all the gentleman things, hold the door, pullout the chair or offer her to sit first if it's a booth, Let her order first, and of course pull the waitress to the side after ordering and tell her to bring him the check. He seemed just to do this out of nature.
While they wait for their food he will just look happy, not at anything or anyone, just generally pleased. He looks at her after a little bit. "So... What do you enjoy doin' when you're not workin'?" He takes a sip of the orange juice he ordered, then the water, and eventually some of the coffee. Adam either has eyes bigger than his stomach or a hollow leg because he ordered steak and eggs with hash browns, pancakes, french toast, fruit, three drinks, two extra eggs, toast, and some grilled chicken. He waits patiently as he listens to whatever the woman said, still not knowing her real name.

Sunshine began to rise over the horizon again, beautiful and bashful in its reds and oranges. Climbing into the sky it banished the darkness away with its seductive and glorious glow. As the molten orb ascended it scattered the stars, banished the moon and shooed away the creatures who lurked in the shadows. Rae felt safer now. Life felt easier with the sun flying high. She watched through the windscreen of the care, content to travel in silence and listen to the buzz of the trucks radio. She was not a talkative person, but in the presence of the beautiful sky there did not seem to be a need to speak. It felt sinful to even whisper in the eyes of such natural splendour.
What a juxtaposition the road side stop was. It was a dinner, small and cramped inside, with a long silver bar and three or four small booths. They sit in one and Rae watches out of the window. The road was barren for now, it seemed too early for the rest of the world to be awake. She wets her lips and orders a lime soda and a plate of simple toast. Rae ate enough to maintain a small bird, food never felt well if it was in her stomach for too long. Of course, she smiled sweetly when he insisted on paying for their breakfast and it reminded her for a moment that she had nothing on her. So caught up in the last few hours it came, almost as a shock to her, to remember that her backpack and her dog were still in the motel in phoenix.
Then came the question and for a while Rae thought about it, then she decided there would be no harm in telling him; “I draw.” She told him. “Or build.” She was an odd ball really, her hobbies were strange for any girl and she flushed a little as she tried to explain further. “I use to study art in school- I had to drop out when things got a little hectic but I always wanted to be a graphic designer, you know?” More recently she had discovered a love for science and technology and it fed her creativity happily.

Adam smiles and nods with a few mmmmm's and Mhmm's as he eats while listening to her. Seeming very interested in what she says. When asked about himself he pulls out his book and opens it. Equations, schematics, alchemical formulas, as well as strange writings and codes are written in it. "Alchemy and firearms.... I love making things better and stronger...." He smiles as he then continues to eat.
The writing seems to be scribed by three different hands, two interchange their input while the third seems to cross out and make corrections it. The schematics range in design but are generally fairly well drawn. "I was home-schooled for a while....." he states after clearing his mouth with the rest of his orange juice, he's a fast yet clean eater as already two thirds of his large order is gone already. "...Was taught alchemy and I just picked up a bunch of books on firearms... I'm going to try to modify and work on them as a hobby... Also I love to dance...." He chuckles as he seems to be embarrassed by it. This man has an apatite, either he rarely eats or he just has a hollow leg. "So what's your favorite thing to draw?" He finally asks after he finishes his coffee.
