She swallowed and watched him, it made her unnerved of course, but who wouldn’t be unnerved. Rae had seen reapers before, only she had not known it at the time. She had seen their shadows then they came to collect the souls of her mother and brother, she had seen the sweet shine of their blades, but she had not realised it back then. Back when she was naive, when she a timid frightened little girl, she had seen but had not known. Now she knew, but that did not stop her feeling afraid. She felt cold all over. “Are you here for someone?” She asked him, her voice quiet as her dark brown eyes swam over his cloaked being.
Rae wondered if he should be out in the open, she wondered if she could be here talking to him. But the thought of going somewhere secluded with him was not a thought that she was relishing. Twisting her fingers nervously through her skittle-coloured hair she glanced at the bird and then back to his cloaked face, Rae found she could not look him in the eyes; it put a cold pit in her stomach.
Holding the scythe along side him he set the handle on the ground to lighten it. Morrigan adjusted her self and fluffed up to settle down for the night. Looking at the woman in front of him he could tell she was nervous and afraid of him. Her question made him remember what he was out for this night. The killer that he had been following, it was long past the time he walked home through the park. He would have to find him another time, he had been silent long enough and needed to answer her. "Yes, do not worry my dear, it is not you. The man I was following is a killer, his actions have not gone unnoticed and I have come to end his life to help keep balance."
Seeing she was nervously playing with her hair he thought it would help her if he introduced his companion. Reaching up he pet her softly before holding out his finger for her, the dove hopped on and cooed softly as he brought his hand down and held her in front of him before speaking. "Her name is Morrigan. I saved her many years ago, she stuck with me on her own choice. She is free to leave when ever she wishes but chooses to stay."

"Yes, do not worry my dear, it is not you. The man I was following is a killer, his actions have not gone unnoticed and I have come to end his life to help keep balance."
Relief flooded through her, grief too.
"Her name is Morrigan. I saved her many years ago, she stuck with me on her own choice. She is free to leave whenever she wishes but chooses to stay."
Her eyes flittered to the dove and then back to him and she flinched a little; “She is very beautiful.” She told him, quietly. Her hands when quickly to her pockets and her eyes went to the ground.
Part of Rae, a small part had wondered if he was here for her, to reunite her with her family on the other side. She did not wish for death and had never been suicidal, but several times she had cut herself in an attempt to relieve herself of the pain and torture she felt each day. Sometimes it was worse than others, since her abusive uncle had been killed the pain had lessened somewhat, but occasionally she would slip up and occasionally she would cute herself. Did it make her feel alive? Yes, but only for a moment, until the blood stemmed and she had to carry on, alone in this big broad world.
Rae was not feeling well in herself, she was feeling dark and full of doom. Had she not been feeling this way for some time she would be associating these feelings with him. “I would not want you to miss you...mark.” She murmured, not sure how to phrase such a thing. “Not on my account.”
He could see it in her, the fear. He knew why she feared him and couldn't look him in the eyes. Placing Morrigan on his shoulder he thought of what else he can say or do to try and make her at ease. The only thing he knew what to do was to confront why she was afraid of him but the words from her saying he shouldn't miss his "mark" made he speak on a different matter first. "Do not worry, his time will come sooner or later." He didn't want to admit he let curiosity of the girl let this one slip by tonight.
Looking at her he spoke to try and figure out just why, he didn't like not knowing why people were afraid of him. "Was it a family member that a reaper took from you?" Any one could look him in the eyes but this girl, when she did he could see the fear in her eyes.

"Do not worry, his time will come sooner or later."
Rae wasn’t sure she wanted to allow him to miss his collection. Part of her was curious, surely when it was a person’s time to die it was their time and no amount of interruption could be a good thing? She’d seen the Final Destination Films; though a little ludicrous she appreciated the premise of them. There was something harrowing, something humbling about death, about the deal we make in order to live. She nodded though, not sure she was overly comfortable with questioning him but she did offer; “I would be your bait, should you need it…” She did not know what the killer was known for, she did not know if he had a taste for little girlies, or little boys for that matter, she did not know if he was a homeless man killing to earn a little warmth and she did not ask him to tell her. Sure that if he wanted to he would. No, her suggestion was merely to pay her debt to him, she felt she had distracted him and she felt she should offer to correct that.
Then he asked about her family and Rae found that there was a lump in her throat, she found it almost impossible to answer as her mind went back to the night her brother was taken away from her.
It was late; darkness filled the outside world she was sat on the sofa rocking Caleb. Her mother was in the kitchen making dinner; Rae could smell the spicy sauce as it cooked, hear her mother and her uncle laughing quietly. Rae hated him. She wanted him to drop dead. She blamed her mother, even as she played with her young brother in her arms, she blamed that woman, was annoyed that she could laugh and joke with him even when she knew what her brother-in-law was doing to her daughter.
They brought the dinner into the living room on trays, as they did every night and Rae placed her little brother down on the floor to pick at his. Taron had sat next to her, he had placed his hand on her knee and fed her a bite of his meal; he acted like they were a fucking couple…and her mother just turned a blind eye.
There had been a knock at the door; three men had come in, barrelled in. Before Rae even knew what was happening her mother had been restrained, she had been picked up by the hair.
“Pretty little things you have here, T.” The daemon hissed, and Rae remembered the wet of his fingers as he run them down her cheek. “Give us the damned money and we might let one of them live.”
He’d refused, he’d god-damned refused and they killed her mother first. Rae had watched, held by a daemon so much stronger than she had, forced to watch, to keep her eyes open as her mother was burnt alive…the whole house catching alight. She could smell the flesh, hear the crackling of the carpet…all of it under the horrific screams from her mother’s lips as the flesh burnt away from her bones.
For all his sins, Taron had loved Rae. IT was the only way she could justify what he did, because he gave them the money and when they had let Rae go he had pulled her so close to him she could feel his heart beating in his chest.
“Only one we said-“
Rae had screamed, she had screamed and begged and cried as they tore her baby brothers limbs apart, she had turned away to vomit when they had feasted on his eyes… Taron had sent her away before the end, he had shoved her away into the bedroom- whispered her instructions into her ear. She had taken a black leather bound box from under the bed and she had run…and run and run.
“Not officially.” She told him quietly. “My family were killed by Daemons…but the more I remember, the more I am sure there were shadows of reapers in the background…” She was careful not to offend him, but she was sure her families souls has been claimed by his kind.

Her offer was interesting that she wanted to help by being the bait, he couldn't put her in danger by asking her to do such a task of being bait for a rapist and killer. "No, I couldn't ask such a task from you. I know his routine, I will go after him tomorrow."
Speaking of that man made him look around, although he could tell if he was about to be in danger he wanted to see if there was any thing going off in the distance. He could see nothing as he scanned, looking back at the girl he watched her reaction to him asking about her parents. The reaction she gave was expected, although he was off on how long she would be silent. When she spoke her answer made him curious. “My family were killed by Daemons…but the more I remember, the more I am sure there were shadows of reapers in the background…” Why would reapers be feeding off the dead behind demons. Rogue reapers were rare enough but to group up with demons, that was almost odd to say the least. Taking a step forward he held out his hand out to roughly show the direction of a safe place while speaking. "Come, lets get you out of the cold so we may talk. If you wish to that is."

“You’re not asking.” She told him gently, nobly. “I offered. If someone was hurt tonight, because I stopped you going about your business I am not sure I could forgive myself.”
Rae may have been a hunter but she did not go around absentmindedly killing, nor did she purposely go about killing every supernatural she set upon. She had learnt, and was beginning to get a better education in the fact that some supernatural creatures were just as scared of humans as humans were of supernatural creatures. She was also getting a fuller education on the fact that there were more evil humans in the world that did the worst of the world’s crimes. Though the thought of killing a human still sat strangely with Rae; there was only one man she could consider ending and that was her abusive Uncle Taron.
"Come, lets get you out of the cold so we may talk. If you wish to that is."
Her gaze followed his gesture and she nodded; “Sure, if you would like.” She wasn’t sure what he would want to talk about- she hoped it wasn’t death, she was already in a dark and doom-ful mood. As much as she was sure it was his business and his art, the thought of having a continued conversation about her family- well it made her shiver. Rae did not like to talk about what had happened, it made her anxious and shy.
"I know he walks a certain path every night. I will find him again soon enough do not worry." Once he saw she wanted to talk he quickly shifted back to the man in a suit. Walking along side her he lead her towards a apartment he had for his stay in New York. It wasn't far away from the park, only a few blocks away from the park. Using the scythe as a staff to help him walk he kept quiet, looking over at her to check on how she was doing. "How much do you know about the supernaturals? We will need to be quiet if any one is around but it is better then silence."
He never stopped glancing around, looking into the distance for any movement, he mostly saw rats the few homeless people sleeping in the back of buildings but no one he had to worry about. The thought of using this girl as bait kept playing over his mind, it could work but the chances of her getting hurt are there, he didn't want to get a innocent person hurt because they thought of offering to help. On the other hand it would make his job much easier, instead of chasing after him just letting him come to her. Reaching up he stroked Morrigans chest before putting his hand by his side and continued to walk.

His form was replaced once more from his grim style into a man n a suit and Rae gave him a much more assured smile, she may have addressed him in the open, she may have seen him for what he as but no human could be comforted by the sight of a reaper, could they? Rae ran her fingers through her hair, tugging it back into a knot of color at the back of her head, before she glanced at her hand. Her nails were short, practical lengthened, and there as dirt under them. When had she let herself go so badly? She use to pride herself on being a designer girl, with designer shoes and bags and clothes…now to look at her she would easily be mistaken for an urchin.
”How much do you know about the supernaturals?”
She glanced up from her hand and at him as he asked her such a question; “Enough to keep myself alive in their world,” she explained. Rae was not blind to the fact that humans ran this world, she half suspected the president to be in league with, or a, supernatural creature. She did not think that humans were superior, not did she think them inferior for that matter, but she knew enough to survive. It seemed like the only answer she could give him, every time she learnt something new it seemed to contradict what she had known before, Rae felt like there was no Truth in this world, only a series of well spun lies.
She watched a group of teenagers cross the road on the other side before she spoke more clearly; “I know of Vampires and Daemons, of Shifters and Weres. I know if you stick any of them with silver it will be excruciatingly painful, but I know that they are not all cruel or evil.” Her mind went momentarily to those that were evil, those which had killed her family before she said; “My father was a hunter, when he was killed, he left me enough information to keep me alive. I do not go out of my way to hunt them, but I can protect myself from most of them.”
This explained why she was unafraid of being his bait.
He listened to her, not saying a word he kept a eye out around them. Watching the kids pass by, they approached the building he was holding up in. Holding the door open for her he closed it behind her and continued up the stairs slowly. On the third floor he walks to the first door and pulls a key out of his pocket, opening the door slowly to the empty room he leaves it open for her. "Close it behind you please." Pulling the old leather chairs away from the walls he pulls the cloths covering them to the floor. Resting his scythe on the wall he sets strokes Morrigan's chest before taking a seat near the window. He didn't care of the view of the park all he wanted to see was the next intersection.
"Im sure you have some questions you would like to ask, no? Ask all the questions you desire, I will answer them to the best of my knowledge." He fixed his suit before looking over at her. He watched her every now and then his eyes quickly darting to the window when he catches movement out on the street. It was going to be sunrise in a few hours, the man he was waiting for would soon take a final lap of the park and head down the road he was watching.

Her gaze went around the building, the block of apartments, as he showed her inside. Her chocolate eyes danced around the cream walls of the hall way and the ‘Out of Order’ sign on the elevator. Rae wet her lips, surveying the exits momentarily- automatically. In the back of her mind a little voice reminded her that this might be a bad idea, that small voice niggled and nagged her, reminding her to be alert; sometimes you never knew. Wetting her lips she paused for the barest of moments, before following up the winding stairs to the third floor.
She followed his instruction, closing the door behind her and looking around the apartment, it seemed barely used and somewhat dusty. She wondered, instantly curious, if he needed to do such menial things as eat or sleep, if not then he would have no really need for such an apartment as this. Rae watched him placing the covers on the floor and came into the room a little more, her eyes following him and then went forwards to the window before her attention was brought back to him and he spoke;
I’m sure you have some questions…?
“Lots.” She agreed, but she noticed him looking out of the window and she glanced that way too. “What are you looking for?” She asked him, quietly. “Are you watching for your mark?” It seemed obvious too her, and she felt rather nosey, but if he was going to answer anything she asked she was going to make the most of it.
Looking back at her he glances back outside before reaching up and pulling the blinds closed. "I just need to make sure he doesn't change his pattern is all. Now what questions do you have to ask?" In his mind he was a train station, thoughts coming and going without much of a second thought, except for one. Who was this woman exactly, he was curious to know more about her but was to polite to pry on that subject.
Her company was a nice change of pace, he was so used to following his marks and avoiding people that he never really stopped to talk. In his mind he wondered just how long he was going to have her company for before she left. It wasn't often but it was common enough for even supernaturals to be uncomfortable around him and leave as soon as possible.
Morrigan settled down on his shoulder and against his neck, she got comfortable for the night while they talked, preening her feathers every now and then.
Thanatos put his hands over each other on his lap and sat their quietly while he waited for her questions. Curious as to what she wanted to know, he knew a lot. Living so long many of the years were spent reading and discovering the secrets of this world. Some secrets he his self didn't want to believe.

Now what questions do you have?
She smiled softly and asked; “How many different species are there out there?”
The question came from everywhere; she had so many run-ins with different species that she was starting to lose the plot. Her father had left her a Casefile, a full portfolio of all the research he had done in his hunting years, but so much of the information was bias and misleading. She was finding out more each day and she was finding out all sorts of different things that she disliked and hated.
Her eyes went to the bird and then back to him as she waited upon the answer and she knew it was a huge question.
Looking at her he thought of a suitable answer for her. The unspoken rule of protecting his own life by not speaking to any one not a supernatural tugged at him but he knew no one had hard evidence, who ever did died before they could give it out to the public if they even wanted to. Now a days with photo manipulation no one knows what photos are real any more, their governments shuts down most before they get to out of hand. Speaking he rests his hands on the arm rests, "To many to count, new are found that even the oldest of the hidden races never new about. To answer your question better. With every fairy tale or myth there is truth in it."
Morrigan cooed softly as she settled down to sleep on his shoulder. Moving his head to glance down at her out of the corner of his eye he looked back at Rae and speaks again, "What you may know about most Supernatural beings is only on the surface, so many have powers and they train and gain more powers every day. If you ever find your self fighting one, do not go in guns blazing, learn them first, flee if you must. There is no shame in retreating, just make sure you get away."

She had her answer and it was as vague as she had expected it to be, but it suggested the truth. There were too many to count, they lived in secret and they could be anywhere or anyone at any time. That thought alone was very chilling, perhaps all of the people she had crossed paths with today were supernatural, perhaps none at all. She smiled, her hands resting at her sides as she tried to show him that she accepted his answer, that it made sense to her but that it boggled her brain.
The dove cooed and her eyes went to it then back to him, again she wet her lips with her tongue and they sparkled with moisture for the briefest of moments. “I have run many times.” She told him, conversationally. “Sometimes I think I see my life flash before my eyes…sometimes I am sure they are going to kill me. Why- why do- forgive me, this will feel like a sweeping statement to you, but you are one of the few who have not tried to kill me and it…well it just makes me wonder why supernatural beings… are so destined to destroy us humans?”
