It was cold. It was foggy. Dew covered everything in the city park. There were sounds of trickling if you listened closely. However, it was a tough task to accomplish in the city that never sleeps. There was music coming out of several buildings. People were talking and yelling. Cars honking and driving fast. Motorcycles, too. It was a neverending battle between the reverberating sounds.
Delia hugged herself with one arm. The opposite hand wielding a cigarette. She brought it to her lips and she watched the busy people walking around. Acting as if there were no monsters in the world. She saw the men and women. They looked so happy. She was a little envious of that. With that though, Delia threw her cigarette to the ground. She pulled her hood over head. This spot was getting a little crowded for her taste.
She turned and began walking slowly. There was no true destination. Even if she had one there would be no way she could stay there for long. Not that that knowledge is to be true. Delia just never wanted to be found out. Luckily she didn't have to feed. It would be a good area though. Surely one person in such a large crowd wouldn't be missed. Blonde hair flew everywhere as she shook the thought from her mind.
"Control. I just need to control myself." Delia muttered to herself. Her pace had hastened slightly. She took to counting her steps to stop the thoughts of feeding.
"One, two, three...."
They were starting to go away. Her heart relaxed itself.
Korina swore, hands stuffed in pockets of the tight faded blue jeans she was wearing. This entire trip had been pointless and a complete waste of her time and money. The doctor here had not only been useless, he had been a complete jerk and disgusting pig. His hands had found every excuse to roam her body, and he had even had the fall to ask her out on a date! How unprofessional! She had walked out instantly when he stated there was nothing he could find wrong with her. Now here she was, plodding along the sidewalks completly ignorant of where she was going in her anger. She stopped to look both ways them dashed across the street and stopped as she came to the park. Looking around she smiled. She always loved parks. Great to walk and run in.
Walking forwards she entered the dimly light place and smiled strolling along. Despite the building pain in her legs and elbows she was enjoying herself until a particularly bad throb of pain lashed through her left knee causing her to collapse to the ground. She gritted her teeth and forced herself to stand, hobbling to bench and sliding in to it. She glanced around then inspected her torn pants, blood staining the ruined cloth around her skinned knee.

"Twenty-three, twenty-four, twenty-four, twenty-fo--" Delia lost count when she smelled something. It was delicious. The metallic aroma filled her nose. Mouth watering, Delia scanned to see where the smell was coming from. The park. Instincts automatically kicked in and she was on her way right to the source.
Delia crossed the street. She ignored the honking and explatives coming from the people she cut off. They were of no importance. Drool began to slide down her chin as she got closer. Panting slightly, Delia made her way down the path. It was then she saw a girl sitting on a bench.
She was alone.
No one could see them.
If Delia just took a little...
"No..." She shook her head again and made her way over. The girl was definitely hurt. And Delia could heal her. That is, if she didn't tear her open for an all you can eat buffet.
The human instincts joined the vampiric side. At least now there was more of a balanced thought process.
Delia approached the girl and sat next to her. She looked away. Unbeknownst to her, another dribble had made its way down her chin. "Are you hurt?" she managed to say after swallowing hard.
Korina looked up as footsteps approached her. She shifted nervously as the strange female sat beside her uninvited and then asked her in a show of compassion she was not expecting or accustomed to if she was hurt. Korina's mind instantly leap to the doctor. He had told somebody about her disease! That bastard! How dare.... Her thoughts trailed off as she realized the female didnt mean ok in that way but with her bloodied knee. She looked away to hide the embarrassed tint of rose upon her cheeks.
"O...oh, um yes I think I'm ok. It's just a small skin. Nothing a bit of neosporin cream and a bandage won't fix." Except that was a lie as well...her body was so busy fighting this radical disease it wasn't healing properly either. However she wasn't about to divulge this very private information with a random strange girl...with a drooling habit. Was it just Korina, or had everybody else seemed to vanish as soon as this female had arrived. A tingling in her arms as if it had gone to sleep, or that strange feeling your being watched was giving her goose pimples along her bare arms. She rubbed them absently to drive the feeling away however it failed to do anything.

Delia finally felt the drool on her chin. She wiped it away and looked at the girl. "Look, I can help you if you want." Delia said. She wanted the blood leaking from her knee. However, the urge to help an injured person was far greater than her blood lust. The smell still taunted her nostrils. She hoped the girl would say she wanted the help. There was no telling how much longer Delia could hold back.
On further inspection, Delia could tell the girl was cold. Something was bothering her. Delia could try to skim her mind, but it would probably be based on what a creep she was being. A small sigh escaped her. If she wasn't such a glutton she wouldn't be scaring this poor girl. Delia began to scratch at her thumb nervously. Unconciously she bit her lip, revealing her left fang tooth.
The counting of her scratching began. Anything to keep her mind off of the delicious scent dancing around her.
Glancing around, Korina didn't see anybody else still and decided it was simply her nerves rattled after being touched by that creep doctor. The whole situation had reminded her of being back in the navy. She glanced back at the other female and knew this girl genuinely wanted to help. Females had not tried to hurt her, at least not yet. Soar sighed and slowly extended her right arm wincing as the elbow throbbed in pain.
"Alright dear. You can do your best. By the way, my name is Korina, Korina Manalani. It's a pleasure to meet you....?" She paused awaiting the other girls name wondering about her pale skin. A fake tooth glinted from her lip and she smiled. One of those girls huh? Dressing up pretending to be a vamprye thinking them sexy and all. It didnt bother her, simply caused her to smile and wish she had been able to enjoy that girlish behavior.

Delia cocked her hand at the outstretched hand. She reciprocated, shaking Korina's hand. "My name is Delia Albusel." She said smiling a little. This was the first human Delia had introduced herself to. It felt...nice. Like she wasn't some freak, but instead a human, like Korina. It was a nice feeling. Now the need of controlling her urges was tenfold. Scaring off her first human acquaintance, the wasn't food, would be bad.
The sweet metal aroma found her way to the front of her senses again. Healing Korina would give away that she wasn't human. However, she wanted to help. Maybe Korina would accept her? The pros and cons fought in her mind. Delia swallowed hard. She kneeled down and hovered over Korina's knee. Before touching her she looked back up. "Do you mind?" she asked. It was obvious the girl was in pain from just moving. Delia did not want to touch her without permission because of that fact.
Being closer to the cut made the smell so much better. Delia bit her lip to cease the quivering. She had to control herself. She had to. Unconciously leaning closer to the cut, Delia's mouth opened slightly. She breathed in the scent. There was no use for controlling herself. Fangs out she leaned in closer and closer...
Korina smiled warmly as her hand shook Delia's hand. It felt strangly cold yet she made no comment about it. Perhaps she was simply cold. With all this dee and fog plenty of people where more then likely going to wind up sink as dogs. She returned her attention to Delia as she spoke softly getting on her knees before her to look at her knee asking, almond pleading if she could help almost. Korina smiled and nodded. "Well if you insist, Delia. You more then welcome to help."
Korina glanced up at the trees over them briefly, wondering why she didnt hear any birds. Then she glanced back down to see Delia leaning close to her busted knee and frowned as she misinterpreted her movement. "Oh no, is it really that bad? It didn't feel to bad, but if it is then perhaps I should just go home so you don't get blood all over yourself dear." She smiled and tried to lean over to see the wound as well past Delia to see what she was looking at so intently.

Her lips felt dry. Her tounge darted out to moisten them. It was right there. That one thing Delia needed to sruvive. How could anyone pass up such an offer? They wouldn't. It was getting harder and harder to think rationally. Delia swallowed again. "I'm sorry..." she said in a husky voice. In one quick motion, Delia bit into Korina's knee. She wanted more than there already was. The feel of the blood trickling into her mouth was so nice. That wonderful metallic taste ran down her chin.
Delia pulled back when she heard a car horn from a little farther away. She was upset with herself. She couldn't hold back. Now that the deed was done there was only one more thing she could do. Delia put her hand over Korina's knee and used her ability to heal. She couldn't kill her. This girl was too nice. However, Delia was sure she could no longer stay here. The urgency to run from her prey should have been done by now. Instead, Delia rambled and apologized for hurting her, all while neglecting the blood around her mouth.
"Please forgive me. It just smelled so good. I was so hungry. Sorry, sorry." Delia apologized a thousand times over. Yet the feeling of the blood in her belly was quite satisfying.
Korina watched Delia as long sharp fangs where exposed and sank in to her already bleeding knee as the female moved her head forward. Korina's eyes went wide, a soft noise coming from her throat much like a mouse being trodden upon. It wasn't from the pain of Delia's bite, for the pain in the joint that already existed there easily was greater then the piercing of her flesh. It wasn't the horror of seeing somebody drink her blood before her own eyes. It was simply from shock...people don't drink other people's blood unless they where mentally disturbed.
Or....there where so many rumors of the existance of vampyres, all of different kinds and sizes. Some almost believable, some so grandiose and flamboyant they couldn't be possible. However one thing was for certain...this female had DEFINITLY drank her blood. She had definitly healed the inflicted bite marks as well as the wound that had existed before. Also, Delia was DEFINITLY real, kneeling before her, with blood smeared upon her face and fangs in her mouth. Mentally disturbed people didn't apologize, nor did they have the fangs to go with their delusions. Delia, for good or for worse, was a REAL vampyre.
Korina simply sat staring at the female, eyes wide and mouth agape slightly as she other female sputtered and apologized saying she was so hungry and repeating she was sorry over and over. Then something with in Korina snapped and she reached out, covering the female's flapping lips with a hand. "Shush dear....you didn't hurt me alright. You fixed your mistake. It will be alright. Come...lets go get you cleaned up before somebody spots you and calls the police. We wouldn't want an investigation over such a little thing." Korina ripped a piece of her already ruined pants and used it to gently wipe the blood from the vampryes face then stuffed it in her pocket. The blood was hers, on her pants. If anybody asked...she could simply say she picked up the torn piece of cloth for some reason she didn't even know. Standing up, her knee felt better then before she had even cramped up and skinned it. This was the second time somebody's healing had left her feeling better, though the pain had returned soon after the first time. She had no doubt it would again. Grabbing Delia's hand, she quickly lead her back across the street they had both crossed and fished in a pocket withdrawing a key from and unlocked a door in to a cheesy motel room, fresh out of one of those stupid movies about sex and murder. She had neither in mind while she was here but found it affordable and temporary for another night at least.

Delia's lips trembled as Korina wiped her mouth clean from her unexpected meal. It was...embarrassing. She couldn't control her urges. With only a human mother that ignored her existence, Delia never learned how to control her vampyric nature. It felt as if she was a small child with candy; always wanting more. Thoughts such as these continued to race through Delia's head. Korina had lead her down the well lit street. The eyes of others never once looking at them. This was good. Korina was right. She didn't want to be caught. She couldn't get caught. How could Delia control herself in a jail? She would die in a matter of days.
Delia saw Korina pull the key from her pocket. With her head cocked to one side, she pursed her lips. This girl certainly wasn't turned on by the bite. That would be something new to Delia. However, she knew from Korina's words from before that she only wanted to help. The embarrassment flooded over her once more. How cruel for Delia to harm this poor person. She felt a strange yearning to be Korina's friend. This was all so new to her.
"Thank you..." Delia said, a little louder than her normal murmuring. She bit her lip again. Some blood still stained her pink lips. A shower was surely needed in order to get rid of the evidence. It was strange, staying in a motel room instead of sleeping on a park bench or a subway wall. It's been quite a while since she's slept in a bed. There had been offers before, but Delia knew those were ill intentioned. There was no fear here for her. Only that bit of embarrassment. It made Delia feel almost...human.
Korina closed the door behind them and made sure to twist the lock closed. She slipped off her outer shirt revealing her white tank top. He liked her shoes off in to a corner and sat upon the bed removing her socks. Those where tossed in to a hamper if dirty cloths near a sink just before the bathroom door. She flopped back on the bed and sighed rubbing her left elbow as it twinged. She sat back up and looked at the female before her.
"So Delia, your a vamprye hun? How long have you been one? Judging by what I have heard from books and stuff you can't be to old because of the way you jumped my blood." Standing up she walked to the sink and gently wet a towel and came back and softly began cleaning her lips of the remainder of her own blood. She frowned as a lot of dirt and grime came away with the blood. "Darling...where have you been living? Your a mess sweetheart." She wiped her cheeks the. Her forehead gently and sighed. "Go shower darling. You can have some of my cloths till we can get you some other cloths."

Delia stood awkwardly in the middle of the room as Korina undressed. It felt nice being in a place that didn't smell of outdoors. Delia let Korina wipe the towel over her dirtied face. It was also a nice feeling. "I'm not exactly a vampyre. I'm both human and a vampyre. A bit of a dysfuntional family." Delia laughed a little then frowned. Thoughts of wanting to find her father began once more. "I raised myself. I have no clue how to control myself. I just follow my instincts."
Delia looked at herself after seeing all the grime come off of the towel. "I don't really live anywhere." She looked back up at Korina. The fact that this female would help her out showed how good full blooded humans could be. Another reason why Delia envied them so much. She could never be the hero.
"Thank you again. It's been awhile since I've had a real shower." Delia smiled and headed to the bathroom. There she threw off her dirty and somewhat ill fitting clothes. She made the water hot enough to burn any normal person. The steam felt good against her cold skin. The shampoo smelled of flowers. Running it through her hair, Delia couldn't help but grin. She was tired of smelling of subway pretzels and mulch. It was the little things like this that brought her so much joy.
As the girl showered, Korina sat upon the bed again and rubbed the spot the female and bitten her knee. A half vamprye? Such creatures where even possible? Intriguing...she stopped rubbing the spot and knelt beside the bed and reached beneath it. Good, her suitcase holding her rifle was still hidden there. She liked this girl, but vampyres where stronger and better then humans in every way. A touch of nervousness thrilled through her body. This girl could do almost anything, yet Korina knew she wouldn't at the same time. However Korina knew danger was close for some reason.
She unfastened the latches on the case and reached in her fingers wrapping around the familiar feel of her beloved rifle. She withdrew it and checked the rifle quickly, popping the magazine out and ensuring it was loaded. Then she stood and slipped the rifle in to the standing closet and shut it gently. She smiled and glanced around and sighed.
Korina's smile quickly dissolved as a hard pounding at the door filled her ears. She turned and glanced at the door and slowly walked to it. Looking through the peephole she raised her eyebrows as a man in uniform of a police officer stood there, hand raised to knock again. She made sure the latch was upon the door then slowly opened it.
"Yes sir. May I help you with something."
The young male looked at Korina then smiled. "Yes ma'am. We are looking for a young girl. Maybe eighteen years of age. She looks like this.." The male held up a photograph of Delia before her eyes, "and received word she was seen with a female matching your description."
Korina shook her head. "No sir, I have not seen anybody by that description. I'm alone here and preparing to shower." She lied to the officer to explain why the shower was running...

Soap covered everything in the shower. Delia may have used a bit much, but she was clean. She washed her make up off next. The black mess from her eyes now covered her hands. Her face felt naked without the dark eyeliner around her icy blue eyes. Delia splashed at the walls trying to get rid of the excess soap she splattered around.
Delia was about to get out when she heard the knocking. She focused her attention of the sound of a man at the door. They were looking for a girl around eighteen years of age. She should have known this would happen. There was no hope for a dhampir to feel normal in this world. Not with humans or with vampyres. She was angry. Not enough to kill though. Delia got out of the shower quietly, leaving the water on. She didn't want Korina to be found lying. She could hear the conversation clearer now that she wasn't under the running water.
Scanning the bathroom was almost pointless. There was little to see. The only window in the room could barely get the already thin Delia out. Delia looked for a towel as some left over soap fell into her eyes. She reached around, naked, until she found something soft on a rail. Delia wiped her face and eyes first. Her eyes were blood shot from the soap. She face red from rubbing it on the towel.
Delia began to dry her hair and she listened. There had to be a way she could escape the man looking for her. There could be an abundance of reasons why she was being searched for. Her multiple victims ran through her head. Maybe this was why vampyres killed their prey. She also stole from convenience stores. She needed more than blood to survive. Who would hire a half vampyre anyway?
There was no choice. Her life was cursed when she was born. Maybe it would be better if she gave up. Did she really think she could last any longer with a criminal record? A small sigh escaped Delia. Maybe she would have to take care of the man after all. Who would miss one person in such a big city? Delia frowned. Thoughts like that are what made her run from people. She wasn't a murderer. Not by choice.
