Stuck in Chicago after having departed from Craig, Tayva found herself unsure what she was going to do. It seemed like her only friend had gone up and left, leaving her to herself. She still had Talos by her side, but it just wasn't the same. The bond between the two was almost too intimate for her to think of him the same, rather she needed more people like herself.
And as much as she wanted to chase after the only friend she had, the draconian couldn't help but feel that the matters that needed to be attended to were rather personal, something that she would not be welcomed to prod into.
Mind muddled by headaches and thoughts, she eventually made her way to a small eatery. Having only a small amount of US cash on hand (rarely did she go to many cities anyways), she wouldn't get a whole lot. Maybe spend the rest of the day wandering through the city, then perhaps going home.
Of course there had been a few locations noted in the books of the previous draconian that she wanted to look into. The writing had been smudged and roughened, but she had made out that a few of these places were home to different species of dragon. Perhaps such travel across the ocean would give her time to think about what to do with the rest of her life.
Tired and hungry, she and the shapeshifted form of Talos entered the small eatery, taking a seat at the counter, and ordering a couple of waters, and a small plate of fries to share. Not much, but without much money to begin with (and no way to make more), she had to ration what she spent. At least until she could leave this place, and her draconic companion could get the rest he needed from a round trip to Nevada.

Tayva was just beginning to pay for the meal when the man entered, order the milkshake. Her favourite food, though something she hadn't had in ages. Not since being a child, when her life was more normal than it had been lately. Why couldn't things just go back to being normal again, worrying more about looking good and going out on a date with an older guy than trying to appear 'normal' to those she would have fit in with just a couple years ago. Since then it seemed like she held some kind of a burden, not necessarily life threatening, but it almost felt like a chore to not be herself, and for Talos to not be like himself either. The dragon had to stay in constant costume to not be seen, when he would have just preferred his own skin instead.
Glancing at her wallet, the girl paid for the small plate of food, before considering her options. She probably just had enough for that milkshake, as it was almost calling to her to have one. Perhaps a taste of a previous life would relax her, as she caught the waitress' attention and requested the beverage. Counting the bills, the woman went behind the counter, preparing the drink for both her and Tyler. Tayva could recall being home, looking in her wallet and knowing just how much money she had on hand at any time. It seemed so much easier with colour-coded bills of greater variety. But with the American currency she always had to pull everything out to count, as the difference between five dollar and fifty weren't recognizable at first glance.
Soon the woman returned, offering her the beverage which she thanked her for, before staring at its creamy deliciousness. Not enough to be human again, but enough to pretend like she was once more.

Kyrian sighed as he opened the door to the small restaurant, tired from a day of surfing in Hawaii and then sparring with his old sensei back in Japan. Seriously, all this teleporting would wear him out to the point of death one of these days. He had already given up on trying to find Astaroth since all that did was waste his energy. Still in his black kimono, not having changed since coming back from Japan, Kyrian pulled the door open and was hit by the smell of home cooked food. Despite the money he had from Janus' occupation as a mercenary, Kyrian found it more worthwhile to eat in small, usually family-owned, restaurants.
Stepping into the door, Kyrian saw a sight he had never expected to come across again. Sitting in one of the booths, looking as beautiful as ever, was a draconian he had met some time ago, Tayva... And her dragon partner, Talos across from her in his human form. ... And there was some other guy who seemed to be with her. Kyrian ghosted up behind Tayva, putting his index finger silently to his lips in order to tell Talos and the other male not to warn the female of his approach. Leaning down so that his lips were close to the female's ear, the elemental let out three words with his slight Texas drawl, "How's it taste?"
As soon as he did it, he laughed and spun around the seat to come about to the man he hadn't met before, speaking out to Tay's partner first, though. "Hey Tay, Talos. Long time no see, you two." As he stood there, he suddenly realized that he was the only one milkshake-less. Calling out behind him, Kyrian spoke to the man behind the counter. "Ring me up a milkshake, Mr. Barnes! And five burgers for this table!" He heard the aged man at the cashier laugh and tell his daughter and wife, the kitchen managers, Kyrian's order.
Turning his attention back to the new male, Kyrian cupped his chin in his hand almost thoughtfully, "And who is this fellow? New friend of yours?" The elemental extended his hand towards the blond male with a friendly smile upon his face, "Nice to mee ya. The name's Kyrian."

Had it been almost anyone else, Tayva would have been happy to see them, a little social time something she could have done well with to get her mind off of the previous few hours of her day. However the voice and soon-appearing face of Kyrian was otherwise one that she likely could have done without. Not because she didn't like him (which was not true), but rather he had left her rather sore from their last encounter. Consisting of something she could have only compared to a date, they had no further contact since then, as if she had been avoided.
"Hey..." she replied, after a small drawn out exhale barely audible. Perhaps she was unjustified in holding a grudge, but her lack of real sociable knowledge kept her from knowing what his true intentions could have been. Perhaps he had just been busy with his life, or maybe he wasn't interested in picking things up. So why exactly was he here?
After a few quick choices mentally, she suddenly smiled, deciding to play the social card for now, until he gave her some kind of explanation as to his disappearance. Finally, she turned her body toward Kyrian, and a quick glance up and down revealed that he had been off somewhere else, Asia from the looks of it. "Just came back from somewhere? Looks like you had an interesting time." she noted, taking further notice passed the Elemental to what appeared to be a human at a closer glance. He seemed rather hesitant in replying to Kyrian, mostly because he and herself were not associated, apart from being in the same place at the same time. Seemingly nice kid, perhaps a bit more in the shy department.
"Well you were obviously hungry if you came here to eat. Bored or hungry." He could take his pick, as either answer would have still resulted in him coming to this place anyway. For the mean time though she figure she could use the opportunity to make a new friend.
In her turned position toward the two men, her figure was what most would likely compare to a toothpick: perhaps more on the skinny side, though nowhere near the frailty that the simile would play on. She was rather fit, though not showing any visible bulging muscle that fit men would instead produce. Underneath her messy blonde hair, which sat almost perfectly against her shoulders were her inquisitive blue eyes, which almost gleamed in the restaurant's light.
A closer look however would betray her almost perfect skin, as just barely peering from the lowest region of her shirt's neck would reveal the sharp redness of a rather nasty-looking scar, something which the Draconian would always try to keep hidden, as not to arouse questions. It normally worked, only rarely revealing the truth behind its creation to others as it was a time she did not wish to think back on. The reason she never went anywhere alone, and the reason that she always concealed a weapon on her person.
As Kyrian finished his greeting toward Tyler, Tayva would then extend her own hand in greeting, offering him a pleasant yet gentle smile. In her nature long ago she would have been more outgoing, perhaps more personal toward near strangers, but that was before such interaction led with her nearly dying. If not for her Draconian heritage and her connection to Talos, she would have instead perished. "Nice to meet you." she finally added, before nodding to the male figure behind her. "As he mentioned, my name is Tayva, and that's my friend Talos."
On the other side of Tayva sat the one called Talos, a little taller than most, and upper facial features obscured with short yet messy black straight hair. He seemed rather unphased by the sudden eruptuion of chatter, only glancing over once to regard Kyrian's greeting with a nod, hands somewhat awkwardly grabbing the glass of water that he gripped. He was not used to using his hands, or rather his claws, to grip anything so small.
During Tayva's introduction toward Tyler, Talos looked up from his beverage, examining the frail human with only mild interest. Humans didn't really ever catch the Dragon's attention, and he didn't see much of a reason to begin doing so now. The one called Craig had only interested the being because of his interest in science, and the possibility of power that could reside behind such knowledge. It was not just power that the Dragon found appealing, but wisdom and intelligence as well, and somehow that man had managed quite enough for the Dragon to find him interesting.
Of course now he was gone for the foreseeable future, and apart from the odd supernatural that they found (Kyrian being one of those), there were few that he would find interesting. So of course after a quick glance at the human with hazy, almost inhuman red eyes, he went back to his drink in silence, finding nothing that would interest him about the human male. Hopefully the human wouldn't begin to prod him with questions or ask him for anything specific. Even if he wanted to talk to him, he couldn't as his Draconic heritage did not possess the ability of speech. Rather the only communication would lay between the telepathic connection he and Tayva shared together.

Kyrian cocked his head to the side in an inquisitive manner at the male, Tyler's, reply. Then, with a serious face and soft tone, Kyrian looked down at Tyler with compassionate eyes, "Don't ever say that you're nobody. Everybody is somebody, and everybody has worth." The moment ended and Kyrian's smile returned as he slid into the seat with Tay, answering her question with a slight hint of exhaustion in his tone, "Fun is nowhere near the right word for the pain I just went through. I might sleep for a whole day. Just like when we met, eh?" Laughing a little, Kyrian notice Malory, the restaurant owner's daughter, come or with his order and he stood back up in order to receive the food from her, ignoring the look of aspiration in her young eyes. Seriously, what was up with these teenage girls giving him the love eyes? It was just creepy.
Sitting back down with that thought in his head, Kyrian glanced sideways at Tayva and reminisced on what had happened between them. He decided that he should at least halfway apologize, though now was neither the place nor the time to explain himself fully. "Hey Tay, I'm sorry about last time. I got... Scared."
Leaving it at that for now, Kyrian turned back to Tyler, interested in this new person. "So Tyler, what do you do for a living?"

Tayva took to stirring the straw around in her milkshake as she watched the two men continued on with their social activity, tossing Kyrian's words around in her head. What was there to be scared about? She wasn't all that menacing as far as she figured, though the same couldn't be said for Talos. The Elemental knew that there was a dragon beneath the human skin, one that could probably either crush, rip, devour, or burn a human whole. There wasn't much of a reason to think twice about that.
He had to mean something else, but for the time being it seemed as if she wasn't going to get an answer when it came to that. She would have to play along if she intended on getting any more information from him. Finally deciding to take a drink from the milkshake, she grinned almost childishly, attention lost from what was going around before her to become engulfed in the flavour that was the beverage before her. It had been ages before she had experienced anything so flavourful, so tasteful. It probably wasn't healthy, but that only added to the deliciousness that was it.
Her momentary bliss was short lived as she experienced a painful mental shock in the top of her head, causing her to stop her drinking, and rub her head as if struck with something. She had been feeling strange head pains ever since rescuing Craig from his imprisonment back in Nevada, and she hadn't had the chance to put her finger on why. Whatever the case, the feeling just started to intensify, enough that even Talos could feel remnants of it from their telepathic bond, placing a hand on her shoulder in silence. A deep rumbling yet soothing voice pierced into her thoughts.
"What is it?"
"I'm not sure... its been coming and going for awhile."
"Since the breakout I'm assuming? I didn't feel anything strange until the nosebleed."
"Yeah, I'm not sure if I should say something or go see someone about it though. I thought it would have been gone by now."
She tried to smile, in an attempt to assure the dragon that she would be okay. But feigning a facial expression would do nothing for someone who could read thoughts. Hand still on her head, she took another sip of her milkshake, the euphoria associated with the sweet beverage lost on her now as the pounding sensation took hold. Instead she looked over at Kyrian and Tyler once more, smiling a little more truthfully than before. Perhaps Kyrian had a good heart, but she still expected a better explanation from him later on.

Kyrian heard Tyler say "I like your eyes Talos," and the elemental automatically raised his right finger to his right eye in order to make sure that his own contacts were in. He had no need for them with his 20/22 vision so they were just for color, however the orange color of the contacts overlapped his amethyst hues in order to create a brown color. Reassured that he did indeed have his contacts on, the male reached out towards the tray containing five cheeseburgers and grabbed one for himself, putting ketchup on the burger before placing it down in front of him and gesturing towards the platter containing five more plates each with a cheese burger. "Tay, Tyler... You are welcome to have one if you like. And the vegetables and stuff are back there," the male jerked his thumb directly behind him before addressing the last person at the table, "I got two for you, Talos." Once done with the explanation, Kyrian brought the straw in his milkshake to his lips and took a sip, letting the sweet creamy drink fill his mouth and run smoothly down his throat, wetting it and cooling his body.
With a content smile on his face, Kyrian cocked an eyebrow at Tyler in interest. "Want to major in psych, huh? Good field, though I warn you to either go for a second degree or get a more corporate minors. You always need something to fall back on in case the psychology thing doesn't work out. Abstract degrees like that don't get you the best of jobs too often." Kyrian had to hold back a laugh after saying those words, thinking about how similar they were to what his uncle had told him when Kyrian had revealed that he wanted to go to IU and take their mythological studies course... Of course, Kyrian had never gotten out of high school.
Out of the corner of his eye, the elemental noticed Tayva reach up to hold her head. Worried, Kyrian turned to face her and realized that she seemed to be in a little pain. After watching her have a silent conversation with Talos, Kyrian reached out and gently lay his right hand atop the female's head, affectionately rubbing her head. It would've looked like a friendly gesture to anyone else, but what he was actually doing was releasing what little energy he still had left to give into Tay's body in order to help heal her headache, at least enough to where she would be able to ignore it. He had no idea how much juice he had left after a day of teleporting and sparring. Smiling weakly at the girl he asked in a kind tone, "You okay, Tay?"
Post by Tayva Aschaund on Jan 25, 2013 19:43:28 GMT -5
Her hand still on her head, Tayva blinked as she looked up from her pounding head, seeing Kyrian looking over her. She was a bit confused at first, but then began to feel the slight trickle of energy flowing through her mind. Remembering that Kyrian could prod into her head, she figure that he had probably overheard the conversation between herself and Talos. He would probably also be one of the few people who could have a conversation with Talos alone.
Despite the strangeness and severity of the headache, his aid in the matter seeming to slow the pounding sensation that coursed through her head, until it ceased to be. The draconian blinked a couple of times, soon realizing that the sensation had ended, and she was now clear of thought.
Lowering her head, she looked up at Kyrian once more, her eyes reflecting her gratitude on the matter. "...I am now... thanks." she replied quietly, giving him a small smile. He didn't have to help her, he had no reason to. Yet he still did, like a gentleman. Returning back to the conversation briefly, she looked back over to Tyler. "Well you've still got a lot of your life to figure out what you want to do." she reminded him. "Lots of time to decide if the path you chose was the one you want to take, or reconsider your options based on your skills and passion. You're lucky that you went to college though. I only finished with a highschool education, and I still have no clue what I want to do with myself."
Then again she didn't know what to do, as being a Draconian left her with a lot of interesting choices. Thinking back to the book she had relinquished back to Craig, she wondered if perhaps she could pick up where his deceased friend had left off...

Kyrian chuckled sliightly at the whole 'priest' thing, speaking without thinking as he often found himself doing. "Priests are completely useless. False prophets who are blinded by their own lies..." Realizing what he had said, Kyrian covered his mouth with a shocked expression on his face before melting into giggles. "Now I'm sounding like Astaroth... I spent too much time with that guy."
Recovering from his laughter, Kyrian spoke up to support what Tay had said. "She's right, you know. Someone like you's got it good. You've got a long, relatively easy life ahead of you. I know it's a little weird of me to say this with only just meeting you, but I want to see you do big things, Ty. After all, I don't let just anyone have free burgers."
The male glanced down at the three burgers still sitting on the table and then glared from Tay to Talos in the way of a mother disappointed in her children not doing something trivial. "Speaking of which, both of you... Eat. Now."
Post by Tayva Aschaund on Jan 25, 2013 21:25:30 GMT -5
"College...University...same thing. At the end of the day they're both post-secondary education." Tayva added with a shrug and a grin, not wanting to be too nit picky when it came to her correct. Though her little chirp was short-lived as she received 'the look' from Kyrian, causing her to grin sheepishly. "Sorry, got kinda carried away." she replied, looking over to Talos who had already cleaned off his first burger. Being in the skin of a human didn't mean he had the appetite of one, and it was likely that even after this meal he would need to find something else.
Picking up her burger she finally bit into it, carefully cleaning her face with her napkin. She didn't want to be messy after all. Still, a meal was a meal, especially one this good. Despite her desire to simply devour the burger in the same manner as Talos (who had finished off his second burger the moment she took her eyes off of him), but she decided to pace herself, as not to get anything on her clothing. She only had a couple of changes on hand after all.
"Thanks again for the burger..." she added after a few more bites, feeling a little better now. After all, neither her or Talos had anything to eat over the past ten hours, and judging by a second glance at her companion, they could both do for some good rest. Even Kyrian seemed to look like he could use a good nap.
"Anyways it sounds like you just need a little personal time to figure things out. I'm still hoping to find myself of some use somewhere, and even if I dont find it now, a year, or even five from now, I'll keep trying until I find something to busy myself with."

Kyrian yawned as he finished off the last of his delicious milkshake, wiping a small fleck of it from his cheek using his thumb, then lightly licking the last bit of sugary goodness off. The elemental looked at his almost finished burger and rubbed his eyes, too tired to even finish it. He pushed the plate to Talos, hoping that he didn't offend the dragon by offering up his leftovers.
Kyrian yawned again and stood up, reaching out to shake Tyler's hand once more. "Well, Mr. Tyler, it was great getting to meet you I hope that we can meet again someday... Oh wait.." Kyrian walked over to the counter and borrowed the owner's pen, writing an address down twice on a napkin before splitting the napkin in two and handing the seperate pieces to Tyler and Tayva. Kyrian then reached into the sash around his waist and pulled out a small flip cellphone with a little squirtle charm attached to it. "That is the address for my place here in Chicago. Also, if any of you've got a cell phone number that you want me to save, speak now or forever hold your piece."
Post by Tayva Aschaund on Jan 26, 2013 0:34:04 GMT -5
It appeared to Tayva that the need for rest was beginning to catch up on everyone, even herself. It had been a long day of running and traveling, and she knew that Talos was in definite need of some slumber. The poor thing had been flying around all day after all. Though the question of where they could sleep was raised as soon as Kyrian proceeded to hand out addresses and phone numbers. They didn't really have anywhere to sleep, nor did they have the money to afford to stay anywhere. The option to sleep in the wilderness was always present, but the recent day's tangle with the police made her wonder if they would be looking for her too. After all she did help a suspected killer escape prison.
Talos didn't seem to mind the leftovers, cleaning them off with ease, before setting the plates back down. Tayva took out the phone she had purchased just under a month ago, its only use having been to get into touch with Craig. She flipped through to find the phone number associated with it, before scrawling it down. "I'm only putting my cell number on here." she told Kyrian, before handing it back to him. "I don't have a place to stay here, so there's nothing to include." she added with a small smirk, feeling a little left out for being the only one without anywhere to go in the city.
Of course, the option to ask Kyr to stay with him for the night was plausible, but perhaps a little awkward, for her at least. After all the question could have implied that she was seeking something more than just a place to rest her head, which was not the exact imagery that she did not want to put into anyone's head.
Post by Kyrian Tidus on Jan 26, 2013 16:33:15 GMT -5
Kyrian added the numbers into his phone, as well as where Tyler would be staying while in Chicago and closed his phone. Putting his phone back into the pocket on the inside of his sash, Kyrian smiled at the three once more. "You guys are welcome to call me or drop by my place any time. B-t-dubbs, I forgot to put on there, I'm in the penthouse. You should totally come visit me... I also have the roof owned."
Kyrian was slightly conflicted as to what to say to Tayva, due to their past. He wanted to invite her and Talos to stay at his place while they were in Chicago since they had nowhere else to go... Maybe he even wanted her to stay with him longer than that? However, he wasn't sure about that second part, and he was also worried about asking her that question. After just running out on her, asking her to stay with him would be extremely awkward. She might even see it as rude and take offense to it, hating him for the suggestion. But since when had he ever cared what people thought of him?
He looked at Tayva with a smile that seemed even more friendly than normal, "You can crash at my place if you've got nowhere better to stay, I've got two empty bedrooms," looking back over at Tyler, not wanting him to feel left out, "And, of course, you're always welcome. After all, I have to take care of my burger buddy if he's going to do big things in this world."

Tayva considered the option. She had felt awkward to even ask such a thing, yet it was him that decided to open up on the offer. He probably knew that she had been a little more than displeased with his avoidance of her, but his partial attempt to explain his reasoning... perhaps he wanted to make up for what he had done? She couldn't be certain of what he was thinking or his motives, but the short pause he had taken in addressing her made her think that he wanted to offer some kind of peace offering.
She didn't want to stay mad at him anyways. Not having run across many people she could feel open toward without having to hide her identity, she didn't want to lose those she had already found. Kyrian of course was one such person, and if they could patch things up, then perhaps things would be better.
"Thank you for your offer. We honestly have nowhere better to go, and it would be a welcome change from staying out in the wilderness." Of course she had stayed with her parents for a few days prior, but other than that they rarely had the pleasure of sleeping in a proper bed. Talos probably wouldn't appreciate the luxury as much as Tayva, but either way the option for a better chance at rest was always a welcome option.
Watching Tyler's reaction to the offer caused Tayva to giggle a little. He seemed a little taken back by the idea, possibly because he had only met the Elemental fifteen minutes ago or so. "He's the one that's offering remember." she grinned.
Post by Kyrian Tidus on Jan 27, 2013 2:10:26 GMT -5
Kyrian laughed a little at Tyler's reaction to his offer. The elemental, in a way, was actually the one imposing upon Tyler; trying to take up the younger male's vacation. He placed his hand on his new friend's shoulder and looked at him with an amused expression, "Trust me, Ty. I wouldn't say that unless I wanted you to bother me." He let out a chuckle as he then placed his hand on Tyler's head and ruffled his hair a little bit. "Besides, you remind of a friend I had back in high school. He was kind of like a younger brother to me."
Turning his attention back to Tayva, Kyrian smiled and moved his hand from Tyler's head in order to pat hers. "You're always welcome, Tay. Mi casa es su casa."
Dropping a five on the table and telling Tay to but Talos two more burgers, Kyrian began to walk out of the restaurant. With the door half open, Kyrian looked back at the table and waved by to its three inhabitants. "You can come by today if you want. Tell the concierge that your there to see me, and your name, and he'll give you a key to the room. Other than that, see y'all!"
The elemental then left the place and teleported a block away from the building he lived in, deciding that a small walk could do him no harm. On the way there, Kyrian stripped two small pieces of metal off of a streetlight and re-modeled them into two keys exactly like the one to his penthouse. Upon entering in the building, Kyrian left the keys with the concierge with instructions on who, specifically, those keys should be given to. Handing the guy a twenty for his help, Kyrian then caught the elevator up to his place where he went into his room and crashed onto his bed, asleep before his head hit his pillow.
