The Carpathian Mountains
The sun was high in the sky, beating down upon the foliage and trees below. The gentle brush of the wind against leaves was soothing to nearby ears; the sound could almost be called hypnotic to the woman it was currently lulling to sleep. She lay in the grass, stretched out beneath the dull rays of the sun. Both arms were placed underneath her head, boots and jacket removed, and sword laying a few feet to her right. Her expression was serene; her lips pulled up into a pleasant grin, eyes remained closed, and a heavy, contented sigh would periodicity escape her. Yes, serene was a good word to explain her current mood.
The shift of a much larger body broke her trance, causing her to open an eye and peer to her right. Her lips peeled back to reveal a toothy smile as she gazed upon her large, brown, scaly companion. Brutus lay a few meters distant, curled up beneath the protective shade of a few trees. His head was lifted, chin tilted, and golden eyes always open. His gaze frequently swept around the small clearing, but as Beklea moved, his large orbs turned to meet her stare. Her lips twitched into an even wider grin, and the dragon let out a snort of air from his nose.
What?
Beklea giggled faintly, her shoulders shrugging. The gesture must have looked odd because of her awkward position.
"Oh, nothing. You just look a little silly. There's hardly any room for you under there." She nodded once toward the dragon's position. Indeed, the trees he had decided to lay underneath were not the largest in the world. In fact, a few of the lowest limbs were touching his spine. Brutus' reply was only a blink.
"I thought you hated small places," she added, brow raising in question.
Brutus grunted his response, finally lowering his long neck and placing his head on the grass. These mountains are a tourist attraction for humans. If one shows up, It would be smart to be out of the way and hidden. I told you multiple times that I didn't want to come here.
Beklea let out a breath of air, sending a few stray locks of bangs upward. "Well, would you rather fly a few hundred miles until we find something more secluded?" With that comment, Brutus chose to remain silent. No. He would rather lay right here and relax, thank you very much.
"I'm not worried. Even if someone shows up, you can just do that little... mind thing that you do," she countered, looking back skyward and closing her eyes. Her smile faded for only a moment before it twitched back up into position. "Plus, if any humans did show up, you'd certainly be one hell of a 'tourist attraction', as you called it."
Brutus finally let out a faint, reptilian chuckle. The sound rumbled within his chest for a moment before quickly dying off.
And then, after they took in all of my glory, I would indulge in lunch. Human tastes very nice; I wonder if draconian's have a similar flavor. Beklea giggled after his teasing, playfully picking up one of her boots and throwing it his way.
"You're hilarious," she stated as her boot thumped against his thick hide of scales and then toppled back into the grass. She spoke with heavy sarcasm.
