Home.
A noun meaning a place of shelter or dwelling where ones domestic affections are centred. A place “where the heart is”, where love is stored and life is safe from whatever dangerous the world presents. A place to cry and laugh, to dance around the Christmas tree and sing Happy Birthday around a cake illuminated with candles.
Home, homed, homing, homeward, home and dry… Home.
The word, no matter how many times she tried it on her lips, meant nothing to Rae.
It felt sour on her tongue, tasted of acid, of pain and suffering and regret. The world was delusional, hidden behind their brick walls and triple-glazed windows were people bleeding the fuck out of “home”. These insignificant people who sat on their sofa watching the glow of their television while the world around them rotted and stank. What safety would their cute picket fences and their farmhouse kitchen table tops bring them when they were sucked from their beds by nightmares? What safety would their patterned curtains and family-heirloom duvets give them when they were caught and cut and cast aside, drained of life? What safety would there be then for the insignificant others and the whining bitching, computer game brainwashed children?
Rae spat.
It didn’t make her feel better.
She brought the can she held in her hand to her lips and swigged from it heavily. Despite it being first thing in the morning, the summer sun high in the sky, Rae had not slept. In fact, she didn’t feel like she’d slept in days, perhaps longer. Instead her blood was full of the sugary insanity of energy drinks. If someone were to cut her open and watch her bleed they would easily smell the stink of the green piss that was ‘Monster’. There was enough of it in her veins to detest someone from sucking on her skin until she withered and died; that was for sure.
That put a dirty thought in her head and Rae smiled darkly.
She swigged from the can again, draining the last dregs and then squeezed the tin between her fingers. It crumpled with a crackle and Rae tossed it. The can bounced off the rim of a nearby trash-can and dropped into the grass.
“Well shit.” Rae rolled her dark, chocolate eyes and watched the can as if it was out to get her. It just about summed up her day didn’t it?
“Let’s go, Eli.” She said, pulling her hood up over her pink hair and turning away from the burnt out house she had been stood in front of. Once upon a time she had been naive enough to call this her home. No longer was she so innocent, no longer was she so attached to call anywhere home.
For months on end Rae disappeared into the shadows, though of course she had a little help last time, and in those months she pulled herself out of the dirt and grim that was her life. Like a sponge she seemed to soak up crap, let it stick to her and mess with her until she lost all sense of herself. Always, just as things came to a head, as they began to look like they were finally catching up to her, she would manage to escape. Lock herself away and force herself into a corner, afraid of losing her identity.
When the madness was gone, like ritual, Rae would return here. London, the hole in the world like a big black pit. Oh, there was no place like London for a reminder that the world turned on you, left you broken and damaged and spat you in to the gutter. And here she was, back, in the gutter, like a demented homing pigeon returning to the shit-filled city of sin.

London. It was a beautiful city at night. Yet in the mourning the beauty would fade to nothing. Yes its streets would be filled with gathering couples, friendly smiles, enjoyable atmosphere, but Apollo saw other things within this floating Utopia. He saw darkness and loneliness. Sadness and escape from shadows that haunted lives. He saw in others what he saw in himself, but he did not hide or shower his sadness from the world by enjoying this city. He kept them in the glory of the sun where they would belong until something came to make it disappear. A light maybe? In the darkness a small light that showed brightly and protected him from anything deemed dangerous.
"What is dangerous?" Bayla said flapping her wings. Her body hovering over his like shelter protecting him from the sun. He laid under her, his eyes adjusting to the darkness in which she created for him. "How am I suppose to know Bayla...? Aren't you suppose to be the expert on that?" He said to her as he rose to his butt. He had been taking a nap in a not so far away area from where everyone else resided. It had been a very hard attempt at hiding his giant friend from the world, so hard that he gave up and settled with an abandoned factory somewhere close but away from the city. At least here no one would come and disturb Bayla while she rested her body.
*I do not know either. Does that not make me your light?*She spoke to him through thought.
"Yeah I guess so, now get inside before someone notices you. We are not exactly hiding you well and your big butt will be spotted easily!" Apollo said frustrated at her. She was outside in the middle of the mourning. Anyone could catch a quick glance at her then force her and Apollo to run away. He hated himself for making her move towards London's direction where people practically lived in the same space, but right now he was hating her even more for wanting to adventure out into the world.
Bayla gave a large roar loud enough to wake the whole city, as though she was telling Apollo that she did not care for everyone else, then moved inside humphing to herself. She seemed to think that Apollo's words where rude and mean somehow and she had plans on ignoring him the rest of the day. Apollo made a large sigh and closed the two large doors behind her tail. "BEING THAT WAY WON'T GET YOU ANY DINNER FROM ME!" Bayla growled at Apollo's last words before remaining quite.

London.
By day one way, by night another.
A place where actors came to make their mark, where designers came to find their fame, where everything was aimed at the bright-eyed and bushy tailed-tourist and where the homeless lurked on the streets like sodden stains of society.
Eli came to her side. Through all of this Eli was her most loyal companion. The brown and white mutt was no bigger than a border-collie, but he was braver than a lion. With Rae that dog had seen think and thin and had survived the coldest of winters and the hottest of summers. They’d travelled many places together, fought may foe and worn many wounds. But the biggest job Eli had was keeping Rae human. He reminded her, that despite the darkness and the sickening violence that tore her soul, that she was a girl, a teenager who was capable of love and trust- even if the centre of that devotion was for a dog.
Without thought she reached out a hand, dressed in a black leather fingerless glove, and touched the top of the dog’s head. It was automatic, a base reaction to the mutt that had followed her around for the last year or so. The animal butted his nose against her thigh and a contented growl sound came from his throat.
Rae nodded, silently.
Last night she had finally ridden herself of returning to this place. The white walls, the glamour of the Chelsea home, the place where she had spent the only happy days of her life and the place that represented one of the biggest lies too; she had finally ridden herself of it. Determined to break the ritual of re-returns, Rae had set fire to the place. To all of it.
For a while she had stood in the living room as the fire consumed the upstairs bedrooms and burnt through the wood and the plaster. It made her feel strong. It made her feel powerful.
It didn’t make her feel sane, nor was she sure she felt any better. But it was done.
She looked at the charred building one more time, glanced down at the animal and once again; she nodded as she agreed to something unspoken between them.
“Lets get out of here.” She repeated, and headed along the river bank. Rae had no interest in going into the city itself, she had no love for the noise for the people that lived like rats in sewers, which scuttled along the streets like vermin. No, Rae much preferred the open space, but like a rat she had to come out of her tunnel to hunt, to find food and sustenance before going back into her privy to hide.
The dog gave a yap and run off ahead, seeming to know where he was going.
There was an estate, run down with warehouses and old factories from an industrial era forgotten not so far away. Rae and Eli had set up shop there for the last few nights. It wasn’t safe, it wasn’t even dry or warm, but it was closed off and rarely did people come searching for her there.
She walked along the river bank, following the dog, who dodged and weaved through imaginary people. It was, after all, still early in the morning and the rush that broke the dawn of a new day had barely started.

He gave a sigh as he struggled to close to doors all the way. Finding himself not strong enough, he submitted to its sturdiness and instead moved to pick up and place on his white hoodie. He could hear the swaying of the waters and the screeching of the birds that warned others of the mourning sky. At least some people should be up by now. It would make it hard for him to get some food if that was true. His eyes moved towards the city all the while his fingers counted the small amount of currency of the United Kingdom. Apollo and Bayla were starving. Unable to find a proper job or money source he had resorted to stealing every poor sucker that crossed his path. He would steal food, money, clothes, homes for a little while so that he could bath correctly, and anything else normal humans would need to survive. He didn't like the feeling he had when he stole, but feelings and pride never mattered when it came to survival.
He was preparing his large march into the city when something odd occured. For some reason Bayla's angry fit began growing as she called for Apollo's attention. *I know* He said thinking to her, *I will get you food just hang on.* Bayla's fit increased as she shifted and grunted, giving off the sound of a bear roaring in anger. *What is it Bayla?* Suddenly she began roaring loudly. So large that the small critters and even the birds moved away from their location. Apollo could feel her instincts flaring as she threatened something with her roar. She would only increase in volume, telling another animal that she would kill it if it moved any closer.
*Hey calm down! Your gonna get found out!*
She didn't listen to him. She just continued not even thinking of Apollo's words. Inside his head he could hear her repeat the word stay back over and over again. This was not the first time Bayla acted this way. She normally did this to warn anyone or dangerous animal who was getting too close to her away from them. Most of the times it was bears and wolves that she would frighten. Dangerous creatures who could kill Apollo within a matter of seconds. Her roars would carry threats and her stomps would carry action all the while her eyes and nose would not let the animals out of her sight. This was her way of protecting Apollo from danger. He would have normally thanked her for it and showed his appreciation, but now was not the time to go crazy while civilization only rested a mile away.

Rae liked this time of the morning, mostly because of the absence of people. She didn’t necessarily like people. People were unpredictable and difficult to trust, and immortal people were less trustworthy. Of course, Rae had met a few in her life; creatures from the depths of a fiction novel. Some were scary, some had threatened her life and some had tried to take her life. But there had been one or two whom she had started to trust. One or two that maybe Rae pitied too, just a little bit.
But as always, when she abandoned the world to become a nameless shadow once more, she had left those people behind. Rae couldn’t even be sure they were alive anymore and if they were, she was sure that they didn’t think of her often, if at all.
This time she’d had to escape too much that was horrible. This time simply ‘going underground’ wasn’t going to cut it. This time, with a little help from an unlikely source, Rae had faked her own death.
She’d thought about changing her appearance, thought about cutting her hair, dying it, wearing contacts in her eyes and finding ways to cover up the scars that littered her body. But those things were things Rae clung too, the things that made her feel human. She’d dyed her hair the first time she’d needed to feel in control; the pink was a reminder of what control cost and that it was always there for her to reach out and grab. She couldn’t bring herself to change it.
Reaching up, subconsciously she ran her fingers through her hair and then repositioned the dark hood she wore over her head.
Rae had persuaded herself that there was no one who would recognise her. And no one that would look into a rumour of her existence long enough to be sure if she was alive or dead. And whether these thoughts were true or false it didn’t seem to matter to the girl. She, for reasons she held close to her chest, hadn’t been able to give up her physical identity when she had lain the ground work for the world to believe she was dead.
As they approached the estate the ground rumbled and a hideous roar rang through the threes.
Eli snarled and pressed his mouth low to the ground, jaws on display. Rae bent beside him. From the long leather biker boots that she wore she took a knife. It was a small knife, but deadly enough, and came from the sheath in her boot-skin with ease. “Easy.” She murmured to the dog as the sound cast all around the pair of them again.
They had been at the estate for a few nights, thinking they were alone here. Apparently this was not the case. That nose, Rae knew, wasn’t made by an earthly creature.
Crouched still the two waited, eyes alert. Positioned in defence. It was too early in the morning and too soon before coffee for them to go looking for a fight. Not that Rae ever really went looking for a fight, fights found her.

For days now Apollo and Bayla have been together. They looked out for each other, they cared for each other. They started growing a special bond that only those who have known each other for years could have. If she needed something then he would break his back getting it for her. If he needed something then she would do the same. Even though they had a special bond, Apollo had absolutely no control over the female dragons actions. She was not a trained animal so of course he wouldn't, but still he at least wanted her to listen to him even a little bit.
Upon the stomping of the ground her tail accidentally smashed into the large front door of the warehouse, knocking it far away from where Apollo and Bayla was with a large boom as it impacted on the ground. Apollo flinched at this while a large and pissed off dragon followed behind the rusty metal, her body seeming to flow gracefully through air as she moved into a larger space.
The growl of Bayla was growing, then suddenly she moved. The draconian was quick to grab her tail, but his body was picked up and moved along with hers. It took him a long while to actually make it to her back, avoiding the sharp spikes she had running through her spines. When he could see past her head he noticed a dog and a pink haired girl. Bayla growled as large as the dog growled, if it growled, and gave a large roar if any of them moved closer.
"Hi!" Apollo said letting her know that someone could actually get close to Bayla and that she was not all violent and scary. He did this so that the new female would not run away and tell the whole world that there was an injured dragon in this area. Also he wanted to seem a little friendly so that she would not attack his partner, or try to, with any weapon. "My name is Apollo. Give me a sec here."
He tried climbing down from Bayla but found the drop a little too far down to land with grace. *Hey Bayla can you lower me down a little* She gave a hiss before kicking her shoulder up along with Apollo, forcing him to stay on top of her.
Trying to play everything off like nothing was wrong he gave the girl a smile, "So what is your name?

The world was madness.
In her time Rae had seen some things, she had seen some dark and twisted and scary things but right now, as her eyes craned upwards she couldn’t truly believe what she was seeing. Her gloved fingers moved to insider her jacket and Rae pinched her own ribcage. The pain was sharp and sudden and gone as quickly as she released her skin from forefinger and thumb. That settled it then, there really was a man riding…or rather clinging…to a dragon.
Rae didn’t respond to his jovial laughter and invitation to learn her name, she kept crouched low with Eli. Her hand going to his scruff as he growled and trembled. The dog was afraid. Rae didn’t blame him. Slowly, she turned the knife in her hand, moving it in her fingers to get a firm grip on the leather handle. What use a knife would be against such a beast she did not dare to think, but at that moment it was all she had.
Her chocolate eyes came back down to the ground for a moment, flickering to the damaged warehouse and then back to the dragon. How long had they been here? Had they known Rae was here all along? For all his clowning the man didn’t seem dangerous, it was the mythical creature Rae didn’t trust.
She found herself sitting on the concrete ground, legs giving up as she sunk down.
The world was madness.
A wind picked up because of the dragons movements and caught Rae’s hood in its spindly fingers, lifting it off her head. The wind danced in her pink hair, teasing tendrils and making them play and twirl. Time seemed to stand still for those long moments.
Rae thought about everything she knew, she thought about everything she’d faced. Her mind went a long way back, back to Tyrant Creed and his adventure into the artic, her mind went to the creatures there that he had tried to hunt and slay. The wolves that had been as a big as whales. Slowly Rae wet her lips. She’d seen strange and wonderful things, why couldn’t this be real too?
“I’m not looking for trouble.” She found herself saying, her voice almost musical as it called up to him. “But if your- friend- gets seen we’ll both be in huge trouble.”
The female was unresponsive. This is not the first time Apollo has had someone see Bayla. It never ended well for them. In this human world, fear existed everywhere. Fear caused people to do things, unbelievable things because they cannot handle the stress of knowing what comes next. The stress of knowing their life would soon be over. The stress of knowing that there were things they didn't do, things they didn't see, and goals they never met. In the midst of that fear they start to think that they do not want to die, they do not want to hurt, they want to do those things they never had a chance to do. Fear caused people to do things, unbelievable things that they thought would lead to survival. Sadly for them with Bayla, those things involved attacking her. And that never worked well for them.
*Tell the bitch to put the knife away*
Bayla said becoming angry that the female was toying with the leather of the waepon. She knew what that meant, what the pink haired girl was thinking and what would happen if the pink haired girl did what the pink haired girl was thinking. She was afraid of Bayla and she wanted to survive the dragon. Apollo only found himself sighing in relief when she fell to the ground. She was still unresponsive though, and needed a little time to think clearly.
*Bayla. Move back and give her space.* Apollo thought to his partner trying to be a little sentimental to her feelings. He knew how it felt to meet Bayla for the first time, it wasn't really a gleeful meeting for him. If Bayla did not have the ability to talk to Apollo then he would be running away from her today, or eaten by her.
The dragon roared to Apollo's request and stood her ground. Bayla was a very stubborn dragon that not even he could control, so he gave up on trying and fell down from her back. He landed on the hard floor and his feet felt the sting of the ground hitting his skeleton. It would go away soon, plus pain was the least of Apollo's concerns at the moment.
He walked in front of Bayla standing in the middle of the two, listening to the pink haired female speak. "Yeah about that...." He said rubbing his head in frustration. "I tried that with the warehouse but she doesn't like not having any space to move around freely." Apollo looked towards the warehouse then towards his new female companion. "She can fit but she is too stubborn to stay in. And I have no control over her." Bayla snarled and snapped her jaw at the word stubborn. She hated when he called her that because she found that it was an insult. Almost everything anyone said to her was an insult. Mostly because it came from human mouths.
"This is Bayla." Apollo said finishing his speech and waiting for the female to respond.

There were only a few things in life that Rae was scared of. As her eyes watched the huge lizard and she sorted through the score of surprise and disbelief, she didn’t have to shovel away the fear. She wasn’t afraid of the dragon. Maybe that was her first mistake. But she had no reason to fear the creature. The worst it could do was dish out a steamy helpful of death and Rae, well, she wasn’t afraid to die. Death, after the layers of filth and betrayal she had to push through to get to this very moment, well, there was a time in her life when death would’ve been a mercy. So she didn’t fear death and in return she didn’t fear this mythical being. No, Rae was surprised and unbelieving as one might expect a girl to be. But Rae was more than a girl, she was a hunter and one of the firs rules of hunting was to expect the unexpected. The quicker she accepted that there was a fuck-off-dragon in front of her then the quicker she could find a way out of the situation. The quicker she was out of the situation then the sooner she would have time to question exactly what her eyes were seeing.
Survival was one of Rae’s best instincts.
The man dismounted, albeit a little unorthodox in her manners, and her eyes went from the beast before her to the man. Her chocolate coloured eyes watched him, trying to get a gauge on him, a feeling for whether or not he was a friend or a foe. His overly cheer disposition made her consider him to be both. Rae had never really gotten along well with cheery people; it just wasn’t in her nature.
Again, she wet her lips slowly, tongue dampening the rose coloured petals of bow-shaped flesh.
"I tried that with the warehouse but she doesn't like not having any space to move around freely."
The creature, who Rae quickly learned to be called Bayla snarled and snapped her jaw and Rae felt Eli tremble at her side. By now the dog was flat to the ground and she was sure the animal would wet itself. Eli was afraid. And who could blame him? As loyal and as brave as he was, he had always protected Rae. How did a dog protect its mistress from a dragon? She rubbed her hand through the fur between his shoulder blades and placed the knife down at her feet, kicking it a little away. It wasn’t so far out of reach that she couldn’t leap for it if she needed too, but it would have to be enough out of reach to appease the moody lizard.
“Look,” Rae said, rising and straightening slowly. She was small, lithe and petite. Wore tight leather-look leggings and biker boots that looked more out of a corny teen vampire movie. That, paired with the long, blood red trench coat that Rae wore, well she was a walking cliché for supernatural emo freak, but it was a look that worked for her. And as she straightened, it became clear that she wasn’t here to harm anyone or anything. “I just want to get my things from that storage unit over there and then we’ll be out of your hair.”
She pointed passed them, to a grey metal unit smaller than the factory warehouse.
“So, you can tell Bayla she can back down from guard duty now- of course, that is if you can get her to listen to you. I can’t imagine she ever really pays attention to a human.” It was a little flippant, her words, but she was trying to appear casual. “I mean, I wouldn’t.”

*Dumb mutt* Bayla snarled one more time before moving back and pacing. Her eyes were stuck searching for someone else to spot her. It appeared that Apollo was beginning to grow fond of the girl so she couldn't chew on the pink one. Maybe she would find someone else and snatch a quick bite while Apollo wasn't looking.*Always thinking that they can growl and bark around their territory like they are some tough being.*
She was pissed for some reason unknown and Apollo couldn't quite put his finger on why. Even though they had a good connection, it seems that there was somethings even she did not want Apollo to know. 'Women.' Apollo thought to himself before Bayla snapped her jaw at him again. *I HEARD THAT YOU UNGRATEFUL HUMAN BOY* He jumped almost shaking in fear. Bayla was an uncontrollable one indeed.
"Look," the female said suddenly catching Apollo and Bayla's attention. “I just want to get my things from that storage unit over there and then we’ll be out of your hair.” She pointed towards the place past Apollo but he payed no mind. This was the first time he noticed every part of her and he couldn't really think straight. His mind went blank as all the blood began flowing past his heart that pumped even more to go somewhere else. His legs began shaking and his cheeks turned red. In embarrassment, he pulled his white hoodie over his head and down past his eyes so that the beauty he saw in this woman wouldn't take him completely over.
He wasn't falling for her. He just couldn't help but be enchanted by her. It was not a sexual thing, actually he was taught nothing about sexually experience. He was pure through and through. He just couldn't help the feeling he got when ever he was around a female who's beauty was better than his own. Apollo covered his eyes with his hood so that the female didn't think he was weird for starring at her. All the while his voice mummer and stuttered trying to make a sentence. "S-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-sure y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-y-yo-o-o-o-o-oo-o-o-o-" Bayla suddenly wrapped the tail around Apollo and dipped him into the water, holding him under a little while before he began frantically beating her tail for him to be pulled out. Rolling her own eyes she pulled Apollo up so that he could get a fresh breath of cool air before pushing him back down under water again.
When Apollo rose the second time he was cold and shaking. *Damn you* He thought to Bayla as he held his shoulders shaking. Bayla gave a huff then held her head to the sky not even paying attention to him. *Tell the bitch that she can't leave. She saw me now and I can't let her go that easily* Apollo pouted at the stubborn dragon he was starring at.
"IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR SHOWING YOURSELF IN THE FIRST PLACE!" He screamed at Bayla.

It was like talking to someone with a split personality. Of course, Rae couldn’t hear the thoughts that passed between them but she knew there had to be some sort of communication between them. After all, the interaction she was getting was very short and one sided, and his emotions seemed to fire all across the place, he was distracted, like a person ordering coffee while juggling a telephone call.
She just watched, amused and a little bit glad she didn’t have Eli speaking in her ear all the time. As much as she could read the expression on her furry companions face most of the time, the swish of his tail or the choice of growl that emitted from his lips, she was sure glad she couldn’t hear into his mind. She assumed it would usually be pre-occupied with food or smells that he liked to follow, or where was the best place to pee. Love the animal as she did, he was just a dog. An intelligent, companion sure, but he was an animal, with animal urges and a love for sticks and balls, of the squishy variety.
He seemed to pale slightly and flush all at the time, then out of nowhere came this little stutter. Gone was mr cheeky-chappy, bright and bubbly, look at me with my dragon and now he was something else. What was it? She tipped her head to one side, the braid which held the most of her pink hair falling loosely over her shoulder as she continued to watch him. Rae liked to watch, though it often got her into more trouble, she wasn’t much of a talker unless you got her to open up. Then, she was your average teenager.
He dragged on a hood but no sooner had he done so then he was off again, a play thing to the dragon. Rae just laughed to herself as the interaction between them continued, her laughter was bright and innocent sounding, musical almost. But she took this as her opportunity to leave. With the dragon and the man distracted she clicked her fingers to Eli, bent to pick up her knife and moved around them to the left hand side, towards the metal store that she had pointed out before.
To her back, as she jogged towards the metal bin she heard the shout;
"IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR SHOWING YOURSELF IN THE FIRST PLACE!"

Bayla was readying to attack Apollo verbally until she noticed that the female was trying to give her the slip. As Bayla said to Apollo, she wasn't going to let this woman get away with the knowledge that she existed. Bayla quickly tossed Apollo towards the female, hoping to force him to crash into them. It was not a high to the air throw or a violent throw. She just lightly tossed him to where they were. The air would blow against Apollo and his insides would feel unpleasantly weird. His intestines would be trying to stay in its original place while his body would spin moving to where the stranger was heading.
If the pink haired girl was paying attention then she would notice the sudden screams of Apollo coming closer and closer to where Rae was. If she didn't move then she would feel a 130Ib boy falling upon her body. They would meet back to back and the female would slide on the ground as Apollo followed on top of her. It was a throw with small power so Apollo's body would not take too much injuries, if the females would was something only she would know. If she somehow manged to dodge Bayla's throw then Apollo would be sent rolling on the ground like a doll being tossed aggressively across a room. He would slowly stop near the warehouse he once rested near and his head would be spinning.
Bayla would use her flying magic to float above both of the two and land on top of the storage house. There she would stay and stop the female from going inside. She was not protecting the area, though it may seem so. Bayla just did not want her to escape. She would yell and throw tiny pits of acid at the females feet from her mouth if the pink haired girl would move any further. The Acid wouldn't touch her body, though she wished she could just kill this human and get it over with. She knew that Apollo felt feelings for this girl, the little of it there was, and she did not want to hear that boy scold her again.
Apollo's body felt heavy and his heart pounded rapidly inside. The stinging feeling in his body wouldn't go away as he was hurting all over. He looked up at Bayla and cursed her for doing that to him. She would use him every once in a while as her thing because he would use her as his airplane. She found that it was an even trade that led Apollo's body to be as strong as it is now. It was a good thing his body was getting stronger, but a bad thing that he had to feel so much pain for it. Slowly he picked himself up stretching to get his body limber. The pain was bad, but he would live and it appeared that nothing on his body was broken. It was miraculous how his limbs were not hanging from his body like a long sleeve from a sweater (Was the best simile I could make). After a few stretches he thought about how he was going to kill Bayla.
*Your alive aren't you?* She passed the thought to him not showing a shred of remorse for what she did. He was ready to curse her externally before noticing the girl again. He would pick her up and make sure that she was not hurt if he landed on the pink haired female. If he did not then he would give a no worries smile like everything was alright and speak to her. "Nice day for some flying right?" He would say trying to change the topic. He didn't know what to do in these situations and tried his best to make this seem un-awkward. "Sadly Bayla won't let you leave since you saw her. So your stuck here until you are proven trustworthy...."
"Personally I don't mind if you kill her," he mumbled under his breath but flinched again when Bayla roared in anger. "YOU GET NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER BAYLA!"

The air rushed with a new sound, and the sound of a scream filled the air. It wasn’t like Rae had gotten very far away, there wasn’t distance here for the sound to travel across, but Rae was fast. She was fast and more agile than you average human. She had cat like reflexes. She was no immortal of course, not as fast as a vampire, not as agile as a werewolf, but she could move and she had a great array of martial arts training that gave her something of an edge.
She didn’t look to see what was flying at her, she didn’t waste that nano-second. Instead Rae vertically-rolled her body away from the noise and the growing scream. Two large, stag like steps and she was flat against the wall of the factory, her hands pressed against the wall, her cheek pressed there too. Just holding her breath as the sound of the crash came.
His body hit the ground and rolled.
She turned now, to look, to assess what was going on and realised that the dragon had thrown the half soaked man towards her. Her eyes went up to the beast again, then she beckoned Eli to her feet.
The dog whimpered, but came running, sitting at her side. (He’d pressed himself flat against the ground when Rae had moved and the danger had rolled right by him). She bent once more to her furry companion and touched his ears, checking he was okay. It wasn’t until she was satisfied with her friend that she even considered the man. Apollo, wasn’t that what he’d said his name was? Apollo; Greek god of archery amongst other things. She smiled to herself, finding it somewhat humorous that this Apollo had been turned into a human arrow. Oh, life’s little ironies. Though, with consideration, he didn’t move as gracefully as an arrow, more like a stone.
Rae didn’t move towards him, she didn’t move away or towards the dragon either. She wanted to draw the knife from her boot again but knew that would be a bad idea. She wanted to run, but where would she run too and how long would it be before the creature caught up? Rae’s eyes narrowed as the creature moved on top of the storage box and Rae cussed under her breath.
When the creature spat at her, Rae danced back a step, watching the bile on the ground as it bubbled and oozed. Eli barked and she silenced him with a wave of her hand, pulling him back by the scruff of his fur and making him lay still on the ground that wasn’t burning with sulphur.
“Alright.” Rae said. “Alright. But no more of those in-house conversations and you’re going to have to get down from there. Seriously, you get seen and it won’t be me you’ll have to worry about. London is waking up- it’s nearly 6am – the world will wake up soon and you’re not exactly easy to hide. So look-“yes she was still addressing the dragon, which felt somewhat surreal to her, “-please, go back into the warehouse and, and you can do whatever you need to in order to make sure I’m trustworthy.”
Eli whined, but Rae murmured; “Stay here, don’t follow me for now Eli. Stay outside.” The animal whined again but lay flat on the ground, licking his brown paws and staying still. He only listened to Rae. I wasn’t that he was trained or anything, Rae had found him on the street- but that was a story for another day. Still, the dog showed absolute loyalty to her and only ever seemed to listen to her commands.
Rae hoped the dragon would agree, then she would follow the creature into the closed space; bravely.
Her eyes went to the man again, concerned. This was turning into a bit of a domestic and somehow Rae seemed to find herself caught in the middle.

The dragon listened to her words and agreed with the female. It was getting in the middle of the day and the cries of her voice would soon bring everyone around towards her. The least she needed was to deal with the United Kingdom military after her. Bayla slowly moved into the house moving as slippery and agile as one lizard could be. She gave another growl before ordering Apollo to tell the girl to move. He was still busy stretching trying to get his body together. "She said right this way." He would say to the pink one before moving in too. He was angry now and his voice seemed a little threatening, though his anger resigned in Bayla not the female.
Inside was a chair Bayla set for the stranger to sit in. She gave a snarl to Apollo and he gave a stick of his tongue back to her. He didn't really want to involve this girl in their dispute so he did what Bayla rudely asked for so that pink one would go on with her life. "Sit here." He said nicely pointing to the chair. Once she sat Bayla would move her body to the small entrance covering it up with her side belly. Bayla wanted to make certain that the female did not even plan on escaping.
*Whats your name* She thought to Apollo. She was really talking to the female but sadly her dragon self could not speak to anyone else but Apollo. "She wants to know your name." Apollo repeated for the girl. *Tell her I can smell if she lies!* Bayla said giving a low growl while staring dead at the female.
*You can't do that* He thought to the large Lizard. *Just do it!* She roared loudly at him. His teeth where grinding at that point when he spoke to the pink female. "She can smell if your lying. It is a magic thing." Bayla then started to sniff their captive intensely as though she was searching for something. Apollo just shook his head at how stupid this seemed.

"She said right this way."
“I’m sure she did.” Rae muttered to herself and followed, giving Eli a look to make sure he stayed where she told him too.
Inside was a chair. That seemed a little ridiculous to Rae, the dragon had a chair for Rae? In a warehouse. An abandoned factory had a chair in it. Heck, could Rae’s morning get any weirder? Still, her chocolate eyes followed as the chair was gestured towards and the man, Apollo, asked her to sit. Rae knew the minute she did she was stuck here, she inhaled a slow breath, counting upwards from 1 to 10 before she moved across the concrete floor and sat in the chair. Rae even took a moment to wipe the dirt and grim from the seat. She further took a moment to make herself look comfortable, sliding her leather jacket from her arms and laying it over the back of the chair. Underneath Rae wore a vest top; black, naturally. It showed off the lithe of her skin, the pale white and slender form under the tight, hugging vest.
Her hands were covered in fingerless leather gloved, but both her arms were strapped with bandages from wrist to shoulder, it suggested that she’d been hurt recently and there was a little blood stain on the left hand one at both the wrist and the elbow.
She also had a memory drive, a USB, on a dog tag around her neck.
Rae smiled, expecting the dragon to block the exit.
"She wants to know your name."
Rae paused, there was more interaction between them.
"She can smell if you’re lying. It is a magic thing."
“I have no reason to lie to her.” Rae said, addressing the man for a moment as she brought a heel up to the butt of the plastic seat. Her eyes went around the abandoned factory, then came back to the dragon and her pet as she said; “my name is Star.”
She flinched at first when the dragon pressed her nose closer to her.
“You’ll smell sweat and fire on me.” She murmured to the creature, seemingly unafraid. “I haven’t showered in a few days and this morning I stood in a burning building while it crumbled to ash around me.”
Her eyes went to the man, then the dragon once more and she tucked her braid over her shoulder, running her fingers through her hair for a moment before she added; “ask me questions, Dragon and I will answer them, but don’t expect me to enjoy you sniffing me like your dinner.”
