It was only nine at night, and yet the boardwalk was rather empty for the hour however that most likely had to do with the fact that it was still chilly by the water. Summer would see people return to the boardwalk in droves during the summer, and Azel would be there to scout victims for his wrath, but for now he sat on one of the may benches that dotted the boardwalk with his feet on the railing and looked out as the black waves rolled in to crash against the sandy shower before retreating back to join the large body of water known as the ocean.
The streetlights that dotted the boardwalk kept it well lit,and aside of the businesses that lined the place there was also apartment complexes and hotels that lined the boardwalk with promises of beachfront views. As with the boardwalk most of these places were left silent as the people who lived there would not return until the summer heat did. It left Azel with a nice quiet place to collect his thoughts and draw up his plans while enjoying the sound of those waves.
Th ocean always calmed him to a point where he could think somewhat clearly about his purpose and the things he did. He held no regret for those he slaughtered because clearly it was there time to go,but there had to be a faster way to complete the task he had been shouldered with. He sighed and leaned back against the bench to look up at the stars shining brightly up above, and that was another thing he loved. In all of New York you could never see the stars as well as you saw them at the boardwalk.
He was wearing a simple dark blue suit with matching tie so that he drew less attention to himself, but just over the railing buried in the sides of the boardwalk and within arms reach were his two battle axes while the leather cuffs that held his claws were attached to each wrist hidden away under the sleeves. One never knew when someone could come along to start trouble or when a target might present itself to him,but he liked to be prepared. A smile crossed his face as he continued to look up into those stars knowing that somewhere among them was the power he sought.
Ocean views were becoming one Pandora's favorite views, especially at night. She had ditched Hosi a little further back to have a little time to collect her thoughts. She realized that recently she had been doing that more often. At least this time he was in the same general area, and not a completely different country. They had come here for a purpose which ended in a dead end. It seemed like they would never find their parents killer. So instead of taking her anger out on her own brother, she went for a walk to cool down before heading back to the hotel room.
There weren't many people around. The only one she could spot was near the railing staring out to the water. From what she could tell he appeared to be deep in thought. Pandora stood by the railing maybe 20 feet away from him so she wouldn't interrupt his thoughts.
As he watched the black waves crashing against land he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye and a smile slowly spread its way across his face. The moon was shining down through the light blocking of the clouds above to help illuminate the boardwalk, and as he turned to see what the source of the movement was he caught sight of the woman leaning against the railing not to far off. His first instinct was to reach down and grab the battle axes, but the thought was quickly dismissed in favor of an attempt at civil conversation.
"There is plenty of room on the bench if you feel like having a bit of conversation with a stranger" he offered her. The weight of his job didn't offer him time for much idle talk with others, and so when he found the chance to exchange words with someone else he liked to bask in it for as much time as his life permitted. With a life that revolved around hunting the things that go bump in the night it was often a occupational hazard that they would in turn hunt you,and so he was always on the move and never got a chance to really meet anyone.
It appeared that the man wasn't that deep in his thoughts after all. Pandora turned her attention to him once he began to speak. The girl wasn't in the best of moods still, but maybe a little conversation would get her mind off of her troubles. So being a bit careless, Pandora made her way over to the man's bench but didn't make herself comfortable yet. "I tried not to bother you."
Part of her wondered why a handsome, nice dressed man was alone. She wasn't about to ask either. For all she knew he could have juat been dumped or something and she didn't want to deal with the possibility of a grown man crying.
"Sooo.. nice view." She wasn't exactly the talkative type, especially with someone she just met. "Do you live around here?" If he knew about the area, he'd probably pick up on her accent by now. Her English was good and easy to understand, but not her first language.
The woman spoke of trying not to bother him and he turned to face her know. His blue eyes drinking her in,and he had to admit that even from an angel's prospective she was an extremely beautiful creature. "You didn't bother me,but you will if you don't relax and take a seat. I promise I am not going to bite or try anything" he gave her a bright smile and scooted away a bit more to give her even more room as well as space between the two of them. He was good with voices and accents, but it took him a minute to pick up on hers however he didn't say anything about it.
When she mentioned the view he looked back out over the water and nodded "Yeah I come here to clear my mind and relax at the end of the day. Sometimes it is harder than others to get down here, but the ocean reminds me how small we are in this world.....and how big a part we may yet play". He mused silently to himself about the things he planned to accomplish, and how truly grandiose they were. The truth was that even with his belief that the Primordials had chosen him to carry out their plans he was going to need a great deal of luck to reach the pinnacle assigned to him.
She finally asked a personal question in attempt to get to know him a bit better and he smiled once more turning his eyes from the beautiful view before him to one that far exceeded it's beauty. "Around here? Tonight I will be staying in the area, but while in New York I have a home in Island park back behind the train tracks off Long Beach road" he was staying in the home of a recent kill, and the body was in the basement with the blood being drained from its body and its flesh drying on the wall.
"What about you? Live in the area or are you just here clearing your head?" Along with his eyes he now turned his body in her direction giving her more of his attention. His eyes would focus upon her own so she knew he was listening, and before she could reply he held his hand out to her. "Forgive me where are my manners. My name is Azel, and it is a pleasure to meet you".
The handsome stranger wanted her to take a seat next to him, this time telling her instead of asking. Still, she did not feel threatened at all by it. His smile was stunning, and before she knew it, she was on the bench sitting relaxed next to him.
She listened to his reason for being here and nodded at his answer. He seemed to pause for just a moment before speaking again, giving her his name while offering her his hand. She gave hers in return with a confident smile. "It's a nice name. Unique. And mine is Pandora." His blue eyes were dazzling. She had seen some attractive men before, but he was well above all of them.
"I'm staying in the area for a little while." She made sure not to say where or with who, just in case he was some creeper. "I travel around a lot." she said once she took her hand back. The man's kindness made her relax a lot more and she continued the conversation. "I came here looking for something, but found out that it isn't here after all. Tonight might be my last night here so I'd like to enjoy it while I can." Pandora smiled and leaned her body a little closer to him. "Do you have any other plans for tonight?"
It was almost like he was able to calm her with the sound of his voice, and she was not the only one who he had impacted like this before. He counted it as a blessing because it worked well when he was on the hunt for getting his targets to drop their guard. Tonight however he just wanted to see a young woman who stood on the boardwalk with a troubled mind calmed down a bit. He was a killer at heart and a warrior of the highest caliber in his eyes, but that didn't mean he was evil and the idea of helping this young woman to forget about whatever troubled her for a little while made him smile.
As she complimented his name and gave her own he smiled "Pandora..." he echoed "...the beauty of that name matches perfectly with the beauty of yourself",and as she slid her hand within his own he lifted it slightly and leaned down pressing his lips to the top of her hand lightly. He was old school when it came to respect of others, especially when that respect was being shown to women. Even on the battlefield he often gave his opponents time to recover before decimating them because thei was no honor in kicking someone when they were down.
She didn't give him much information on where she stayed, but that was okay because if he really needed to know he would find out when she went their later. As she mentioned looking for something, but not finding it his mind began to race and he wondered if perhaps she was sent to look for him by those who would see his mission stopped short. He knew it would take him only a second to grab his battle axes and cleave her head off with enough force to send her head tumbling to the sand below. He thought about it a moment, but the entire time he was freaking out in his own mind he kept the smile on his face so as not to alert her. Nodding his head he asked "So what is it you're looking for?"
As she mentioned wanting to have fun on her last night in town and leaned her body closer a sly grin found it's way to his face. She was sending the right signals for someone who was flirting, and he wondered what her intentions might be fore the fun. It had been a long time since he had cut loose with a woman, and while she may not have meant for it he was now imagining what it might be like. Leaning in his voice was a whisper on the wind as his eyes looked deep into her own a slight shimmer from the moon reflecting in them as he asked "and what kind of fun might you be looking for?"
Her name coming from his voice sounded like heaven itself. This man definitely knew how to speak to a lady. Between the complements and sweet talk, Pandora was already beginning to like this man. The kiss on her hand like a true gentleman actually made the young woman blush. Of course she was not stupid, and still had her guard up secretly. It was her nature not to be so trusting. The only one she could always count on was her brother. Still, this man gave her no reason to distrust him at the moment.
What was she looking for? It really wasn't something she would want to discuss with a stranger, especially when it would ruin her mood again. "Well, it's actually a person. But I was told he moved away about a month ago." And unless he pushed it, that was all she was going to reveal. He seemed like a nice guy. The last thing she wanted to do was tell him how she wanted to track the man down, torture him until he begged for death and then torture him some more until she was satisfied and end his miserable life. Not only was she a Weretiger, Pandora had the ability to make a person feel extreme pain by just being near them. And it got worse the angrier she was.
Pandora watched his beautiful lips turn into a grin on his face. He wanted to have more than just a little fun with her. Men were fairy easy to read. And Pandora was a very attractive girl. "There are a few bars nearby, where we could get to know each other better first. I'm up for anything though. Almost anything." She gave him a playful wink and let his imagination do the rest.
When she told him she was looking for someone his mind turned straight to grabbing the axes, but when she said he moved away he knew then that it couldn't be him. She could have been lying, but their was a pain in her eyes hidden behind the beauty that could make angels weep...well most angels. He didn't push the subject with her because there was no reason to twist the blade of her emotional agony anywhere than he unintentionally did already. Instead he touched her shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze of compassion before letting his hand fall away to his side once more.
When she mentioned going to a bar and getting to know one another first he laughed happily before looking at her through playful eyes. "Am I that obvious? I must be losing my flirting touch in my old age" He checked his watch, but the time didn't matter he was stalling for a moment to come up with an excuse to meet her at the bar so he wasn't grabbing his axes right in front of her. "The bar sounds great. Do you know which one you want to meet at? I have an appointment to keep so we can part ways here and I will meet you in a-" he stopped mid sentence and seemed to look past her at something hidden in the dark.
He could see their eyes, and it was clear that one or both of them had been targeted by a few vampires. They were hidden well in the shadows plotting their approach, but they had mad a small slip up that Azel had caught and the jig was up. "Never mind...it seems you're gonna get to watch me work...and I am sorry for that" He turned back to her and she would see on his face that he was truly sorry she had to witness violence at the level he was going to be giving into tonight, but blood needed to be spilled.
Reaching under the rail he grabbed the hilts of his battle axes and tugged them free from their perch with a sick smile. He spun them in his hands before looking to Pandora and his voice took on a serious tone "Stay behind me,and don't run whatever you do" and with that he stood up and stepped around the bench so that he was between her and the small back. He could make out maybe four of them waiting in the shadows, but when they saw he was armed and marching in their direction they knew they were spotted and they came out to greet him.
Azel walked with deadly purpose and calm in their direction while the vampires walked as well, but they picked up their speed and two of them broke out in a full sprint charging had at the archangel. They didn't know what hit them. They were going for a high low approach, but as they came in Azel swung diagonally upwards towards the left catching the vampire who came in high in the chest and lifting him off his feet. At the same time he lifted his leg and smashed his foot into the other vampires chest putting him on the ground and then slammed that foot into the vamp's chest pinning him to the ground.
The one he caught with the axes was writhing around on the ground, but he wasn't done yet. The remaining two came running at him now and he pulled his foot off the pinned vampire and kicked him like a soccer ball digging his foot in just under the body to lift the vamp off the ground. The vampire he kicked went flying through the air to smash into the other two sending all three to the ground, and as they climbed to their feet the one he had caught with the axes joined them and they stared at Azel with confusion and anger.
Azel held his arms out wide and grinned "Come and feast upon your death" He turned for just a moment his eyes trying to catch site of Pandora to make sure she was alright and not running. He had a feeling more vampires were in the area and he wanted her close, because while he was a hunter he was enjoying his talk with her and he would not have it so abruptly ended. As he turned to look the four vampires moved as one to attack him. He didn't even turn as chains of wood burst from the boardwalk to catch three of them and stop them with such force they were dragged to the ground.
The fourth tried to stop and skidded across the boardwalk with eyes filled in terror as those outstretched arms began to fly inwards with rapid speed. The vampire couldn't stop itself and held it's hands up in an attempt to protect itself, but the result was the same. The axes passed within inches of each other as they cleaved through flesh and sent the vampires head flying through the air. Blood sprayed into the sky and Azel held an axe out to the one he had pinned before and the chains released him "Your turn pumpkin"
He had plans to slaughter them one by one,but a noise behind him caught his attention and he turned to look in the direction where Pandora was. He could see from his peripheral that some new additions to the fight were approaching, but it was Pandora herself that interested him and he held and axe to the vampire he had freed as if telling it to stop, and it did while Azel looked to turn his full attention to Pandora.

"So this is what happens in America..."
Hosi stared down at charred remains of a humanoid body. Its coloring was deep black with pieces of skin peeling to the ground. The humanoid laid at Hosi's feet, twitching uncontrollably. Its fingers twisted and conjoined to its chest while its legs bent in a way which no regular human could possibly bend. It shriveled and curled like a bug that was just sprayed with poison, and its body smelled like dying flesh moving through a furnace. Steam stemmed and hair burned. The being that Hosi was staring at had been burnt into its current position, courtesy of his fire ability. He didn't want to use it, but he was forced to burn this person because of its maleficent attempt to harm him.
Hosi bent down to get a better look of this dead human. Its eyes where still open, its teeth still showing. Hosi closed the eyes with two of his fingers, then noticed something very strange about the beings teeth. There where two fangs sticking out, razor sharp like the ones his lady friend had. Hosi's thoughts moved to Kali, but sounds of a scratchy voice brought him back towards the real world. He looked down to find the being moving its lips and struggling to say words. He could barely hear what was being said, but when Hosi listened carefully he thought he heard, 'K-kill m-me n-now.'
So the being was still alive, though very scorched. There was no saving it, no healing it. All that could be done was allow it slowly die. This being that was once a very handsome man was now a sad small piece of the earths food. The being continued to ask, but Hosi refused. He wanted no part in killing this thing, his conscience was enough of a mess, he didn't need this life as one of his burdens.
Hosi erected himself then placed the black hood over his dark hair. He zipped his jacket all the way up towards his neck in order to face the cold weather, then he stepped over the remains, continuing on his midnight stroll.
He would have left the being, he would have never looked back and probably forgotten about this day, but there had to be something that dragged him back into the dirt. The creature that he was about to abandon raised its voice. Its sound nearly robotic with a static effect to it."Kill. Me. NOW!"
Hosi stopped, wiped the sweat from his forehead, then turned back towards the dying beast. He walked with a fast pace and a pissed expression. He stopped walking once he stood above the creature then gazed at it with a look of disgust. "You are a plague. A horrible creature that should experience more than just a little burn. You try to kill me, then you ask me to do the one act of kindness by finishing you off? You should lie there in agony, slowly withering away while your anti-God enjoys the sight."
Hosi stopped speaking, then began to walk away again. "I hope you burn where you lay and in the afterlife you resign." It began to cry this time, sobs coming out as coughs. It had no tears since any water that touched its skin evaporated into the air. Hosi halted in his progress, then listened to it again. "KILL. ME... PLEASE."
His head spun. His conscience began waging wars against each other. Hosi stayed silent for the longest of moments, then he clenched his fists in anger. As he did so, the being began to burn. Its screams echoed in the air as fire blazed its skin, burning all that remained of the once beautiful man. Hosi didn't watch, didn't want to watch. Instead he looked forward, eyes bloodshot with hot fury. Yet another soul was taken by his hands. How many would be next before he met the one that truly deserved it?
He took in a deep breath then looked towards the sky. The ashes of the creature dispersed with the wind. He took another breath, then released all his built up tension with one giant exhale. "Where the hell are you, Pan?" He stared at the sky some more then looked at his front. He began to walk, this time not turning or looking back.
The man touched her shoulder gently as if to comfort her, and she quickly changed her expression. She didn't like being seen as weak to others. He looked as though he was truly sorry for her yet he was a complete stranger.
Was he planning on ditching her? From her view he seemed to like her, yet he seemed to be making an excuse up. He said instead of going to the bar together that he had an "appointment" and would meet her there afterwords. He could be telling the truth, or using an excuse to get away from her. He stopped mid sentence and moved his eyes behind her. Did his wife just find him and now he's busted? No, his facial expressions told otherwise. Before she turned around she heard the footsteps. How did she let her guard down so much?
He apologized and reached underneath the sand, pulling up two axes. Pandora figured that was the reason he was acting suspicious a moment ago. He didn't want her to see that he had been hiding weapons nor leave them behind. It was understandable but she wondered what kind of man he was to have to be armed so heavily.
Azel told her to stay behind him and she did. He moved with brilliant speed and took the Vampyres down in what seemed like an instant. Pandora was enjoying it in a twisted way. His movements were smooth as though he was just dancing. Before he finished off the group, Pandora heard noise coming from behind her now that she was paying better to her surroundings. She turned around to spot two more. Either they were running low on bodies or they were underestimating her. She looked back to Azel and gave him eye contact for only a split second before she attacked.
It was one man and one woman. Pandora knew that it was her life or theirs so she wasted no time. "You." she said pointing at the female. Her hand changed to a fist as if crushing something and the woman began to scream in agony. She fell to the ground and curled up in a fetal position.
While the woman was temporarily on the ground, the man got ready for his attack but it was too late. The girl had shifted her form into a fierce tiger and lunged at him. She had him pinned down and almost helpless, as she kept her weight on him. He looked panicked and she stopped to look into his eyes. This man probably had friends, a family and maybe children. Before she could back off, he managed to pull out a blade and was going to try to gut her. He gave her no choice. Out of instinct, she lunged again straight at his neck and bit right into it. She tore away the flesh and everything else along with it. He died almost instant with only a gross gurgling sound. Her first kill. She had no time to think about it as the woman was slowly getting up, obviously still in pain but trying her hardest. Pandora wished she would have stayed down. With all her strength, she swatted at the female sending her back onto the ground with massive claw shaped slices across her chest. All she did after that was slowly walk over and stare down like the little mouse that she was.
