Daniela stood behind the counter at the gas station, almost done with her shift. She sipped on her coffee and glanced at the clock. Only five minutes left until 2 AM. She glanced outside at the pumps. It was a little eerie to be here so late, but it was a feeling Dani had grown accustomed to. The graveyard shift earned the highest salary after all. She brushed the stray hairs around her face behind her ears as she watched a figure pass by the store. Most often the people that came into the station were a little odd. She’d only worked here a few months but she’d seen some strange people.
She picked up her coffee and grabbed a ring of keys to start locking up. She walked to the back of the store to lock the entryway to the storage room. Another yawn escaped her mouth as she shoved the key into the lock. She wondered briefly if she would be able to sleep when she got home. Lately Dani was awake until 3 or 4 in the morning, on account of late gigs and her midnight shift job.
In the UK, things felt a lot different than they did in the US. At least that’s what Dani assumed. The people at night made her nervous sometimes. If they weren’t drunk or strung out, they were... something else. Dani couldn’t put her finger on it, but some people just didn’t seem right. Maybe it was because they didn’t act like it was 2 AM. No one looked tired or acted tired. But that might just be her mind playing tricks.
Dani clicked the lock shut and looked outside once more, heading for the light switches.
Ca'guuror often wandered the streets at night, letting his mind wander and the darkness engulf him. There had been times it was a good thing. He had saved several people in dark always, but his mind shied away from those pretty gruesome thoughts of what the people where trying to do who he saved them from. Tonight was no different, except for the fact that a nice, good thunderstorm was brewing up. He could smell it, and even feel the electricity in the air. He smiled as he walked past a random gas station. He glanced in, seeing a young woman working behind the counter. He walked past slowly, then when he was around the building out of her sight, he leap up on to the roof with ease and agility. He sat upon the roof, looking out at the road as several cars went by, roaring along the road. He usually didn't like the city very much. He much more appreciated the woods. The way they smelled and felt. It was just so comfy, like walking to a home.
His thoughts where disturbed by several men walking down the street. Judging by the way they swaggered and spoke loudly, not caring if anybody over heard, these men where obviously and extremely drunk. The proof happened as one man hurled an empty bottle across the road where is smashed, the glass tinkling as it rolled along the ground. Cag rolled his eyes at the stupidity. He never drank. He was horrible allergic to alcohol, and besides, who would enjoy looking like a complete fool as these men where making themselves out to be.
Cag's thoughts and motions stopped as he heard the sound of a door being locked below him. Oh, please, don't come out now lady. He glanced at the men, who where not even being close to gone. If they came out now, they would surely see her, and start something as drunk as they where. Biting his lip, he glanced around. Come on, some way to distract them. Some way......

Shea cursed violently in Spanish as yet another night flyer made a pass at her. She darted aside at the last moment, taking a quick second to kick the creature in the rump before flitting away. How could there be bats here? It was the city. Not to mention they were attacking her even though they were smaller, not by much, but that small detail didn't matter to one the size of a fae. Maybe it was the wings that threw them off.
She pondered the problem as she searched for a place where she could hide out until the bats calmed down. The darkness hindered her a bit, but she soon spotted a door. She zipped over and tried to open the door. A small chuckle came from the winged being as she realized it was locked. She snapped her fingers then touched the lock. Instantly it clicked open. Shea smirked then began tugging on the door. It moved maybe half a centimeter every time she tugged. Then she heard the screech. Her eyes widened in horror. "No, no, no! Not fair!" she whispered, and redoubled her efforts to open the door. A sliver of light came through a crack in the door, and as she felt the wind from the beat of massive wings she squeezed desperately through the tiny opening. It was a tight fit and she shot out on the other side when she managed to get in, rocketing into a shelf full of chips.

As Dani reached her fingers for the light switch, she noticed a group of men outside who were obviously drunk. She watched them stumble all around and put their arms around each other’s shoulders. One of the men threw a glass bottle, and it shattered on the other side of the street. Daniela rolled her eyes. She didn’t want to go outside anymore, but maybe they wouldn’t notice her. Before she had enough time to flip the light switch, her attention was averted to the door she’d just locked. Something made a sound over in that corner, and it almost looked like the door was cracked open. Daniela watched curiously at the door twitched. Suddenly there was a definite noise, like a small object hit one of the shelves.
After a short pause, Daniela walked toward the door again. She stopped at the aisle where the noise was produced. There was only a yellow bag of chips on the floor. Confused, Dani walked over and picked up the bag, replacing it in it’s rightful place without looking on the shelf. Her eyes remained on the door. Maybe it was the wind or something, she thought, shutting and locking the door again. She did lock the door, didn’t she? Maybe not, otherwise it wouldn’t have opened.
Daniela shrugged it off and returned to the light switch. The upper lights turned off, but the lights inside the beverage refrigerators remained lit. Dani dropped the keys on the counter as she walked behind, taking another look at the door in the back before she bent over and grabbed her backpack. She slung the pack over her shoulder before taking another swig of coffee. She watched the drunk men outside for a second, hoping they would simply be too drunk to realize she was even there. It was often she dealt with drunk men, but usually she had backup, like her band mates or some kind of security.
Oh well. She opened the door and went outside, looking the it behind her. The men were only a few yards from her, stumbling and laughing. Dani paid no attention to them and pulled the hair-tie out of her hair, letting her blonde locks fall down. Her head breathed a sigh of relief. Having her hair up all night gave her a headache. The pressure in the air indicated a thunderstorm brewing. Dani looked at her car, silver and fast. It was quite nice, but very impractical. The car was the finish line. Once she got there, she could speed off and no drunk man would talk to her. She began to search for her keys in her pockets.
The male stood up upon the roof, thinking quickly of a way to scare the men off. Something had obviously distracted the female inside, which was perfect and gave him time to think. Throwing caution to the wind, something he tended to do a lot anyways, he picked a form and leap from the roof just as the female walked out the door. His body shifted in mid-air, dark curly fur rippling from his flesh as bones broke and shifted into their new positions. He landed on his paws and reared back, bellowing at the men. He was sure it would work, even in their drunken state. After all, what sane human being would stand there as a grizzly bear, standing on it's back legs up to nine feet tall bellowed at them, complete with flying spittle? None that he could think of.
For extra measure, Cag dropped to all fours and charged at the men, snarling and bellowing, his teeth flashing in the light. The men watched fascinated, right up until he charged them. At this point, they bolted, screaming and yelling and tripping over each other. One fell and didn't get up, instead laying quivering in a wet spot upon the ground the quickly grew around him. Cag stalked up to him, glaring at him with one large, pupilless solid gold eye and he beg for somebody to save him. Snorting, trying to ignore the stench of uric acid, he raised a paw and swatted the male away, making sure to keep his claws retracted so as not to kill him. He turned back towards the female, wondering if she had run as well, despite not seeing his maw gaping open like the gates of hell with wick teeth glinting.

Kicking off the bag of chips that had been placed on top of her, Shea was almost red with embarrassment and anger. It had not been enough to be chased inside by a bloody night owl and end up disoriented and sweaty from the experience. Oh no, fate just had to pick on her more. Just by standing she felt what had happened. She didn't have to turn around, but she did anyways in hopes that it was some mistake. It wasn't. One of her wings was bent.
Shea howled in fury. How could this have happened to her. With her mind clouded by anger, she immediately started to blame the girl; she was the one that had put the bag on top of her, the one who had locked the door, the one who had turned off most of the lights, and left her in darkness. Clumsily, the fae jumped from the shelf and fluttered in the air. The first beat of her wings caused her to plummet and stumble to one side. The lack of control she had over her only flight only made her more determined to get back at the girl. With clenched fists, the tiny being flew in a clumsy, winding path similar to a drunk's. She was panting by the time she reached the window.
Outside was a bear. Startled as well as curious about why such a beast was loose around these parts, she watched as it roared and charged a group of guys down the street. It even batted one aside. When it turned around towards the girl, she fluttered her wings eagerly in anticipation. Maybe it would do the job for her, wouldn't that be nice? But when it just stood there, she got angry again. Why wasn't it charging? Was it brain dead or something? Frustrated, she beat tiny fists upon the window and screamed faint profanities at the bear.

Daniela spun around as she heard a loud thump, and her lips parted with a gasp as the beast let out a roar. What a huge animal! It must be almost twice her size. Dani stood frozen in the same spot, her coffee in one hand and her car keys in the other. She watched as the bear charge at the men, and watched the men run away. One of the guys fell, and Daniela felt she should try to help him. Even though the guys were drunk and obnoxious, that doesn’t mean she should let them be killed. Before she could gather enough courage to act, the bear swatted at him. The man got up and ran away, but before she could be thankful, the bear turned and looked at her. The animal and herself were probably two yards apart.
Blankness filled her mind. She couldn’t think of what to do at this moment. The panic that held her turned off some switch in her brain. Daniela just stood for a second, stuck in the same spot. All at once the blankness stopped, and she could at least feel that she had to get away. Her car was maybe three parking spaces away, and locked. She began to take small steps backward, towards her car.
All the while she stared at the beast, her eyes locked upon his. She’d heard that animals can sometimes sense your fear. She tried to send a message of confidence somehow, but whatever she was doing was probably useless. Her expression said it all. Wide brown eyes filled with panic watched the animal. She took deep breaths in order to calm herself down. Nervously she brushed her hair behind her ear and held out one hand, still walking backwards slowly.
“Please,” She murmured. Suddenly she realized she still had the hot coffee in her other hand. Without much of a plan, Daniela quickly pulled the lid off and thrust the cup forward, hurling the hot liquid towards the bear. With any luck the bear would run off and Daniela could escape. Things seemed to move in slow motion as the coffee headed for the animal.
As the coffee flew towards him, Cag didn't really know what to do. She was obviously terrified, and any move he made would scare the day lights out of her even more. More, something was rattling a window off to his left, and he turned his head to look. A fairy sat at a window, only faintly visible and beating it's tiny fists against the window for some reason. He looked back at the female, just as a cup full of hot coffee splashed into his face. He froze for several seconds long.
Pain drove him to action as the coffee surged up his nose and into his sinus cavity. He howled in pain, dropping to his belly and clamping his paws over his muzzle. He huffed and wuffed, shape shifting rapidly back to human form and not even giving two cents if anybody saw him. The pain was unbelievable, hot searing coffee sitting up inside his sinuses, and clenched at his face, eyes streaming and red. He spoke, his words muffled around his hands.
"Aw, hell. The fuck, seriously?" This went on for several seconds as he attempted to blast the blistering coffee from his nose and cough it out. Finally his coughing and sneezing died down and he glared at her.
"What the hell was that for? It really hurt you know? I didn't do a single thing to you. No growling, nor roaring, nor snapping! I was a good boy this time. See if I ever help anybody else out again." He grumbled, wiping at his nose and mouth as he walked to the window and jerked it up roughly, breaking the lock upon it in his frustration. He crouched and so he was at the fae's line of view.
"Hi. Can I help you, Mi' Lady?" It was obvious at this range that the gender of the fae was female. He held out a hand for her to step into as he moved to shut the window again. He frowned at her bent wing, and reached out and touched it softly, trying his best not to hurt it. "Not having ever meet a fae before, Mi' Lady, but that certainly does not look good. Would you like a ride till it gets better or we find somebody to heal it?" He slowly lifted her to his shoulder, offering it for her to stand or sit upon as he walked back out to the female standing there for it had been only the briefest exchange, perhaps five or six seconds at the best.

Shea giggled with malicious glee at the bear's pain. Now maybe he knew how bad that girl was, and how foolish he had been not to at least give her a little swat on top of terrifying her. The girl was a bane to all living creatures. Well, mythical creatures at least Shea amended when the bear turned into a man. A fae and a shapeshifter downed in less than ten minutes on the exact same night. Despite how much she hated her, the tiny being was impressed at the record. Even she had not been able to accomplish that feat yet without the help of her powers, and the girl was a measly human. Just added jealousy to fuel the anger the fae already held towards her.
She was surprised when the shapeshifter jerked open the window, stumbling backwards and almost falling from her perch due to her ruined balance. As it was she was hardly able to regain her footing before two giant golden eyes were level with her. Seeing that he wanted to shut the window, she warily stepped onto the offered hand. Though she hated to admit it the platform gave more purchase for her so she could stand up straight. She scowled when he touched her bent wing, and slapped his hand away. "Obviously you have never met a fae, senor, or you wouldn't have tried to touch my wings," she scolded. "If it wasn't for my little problem I would punish you properly. But I will take your offer instead."
With a clumsy flutter of her wings, the fae stepped daintily from the man's hand to his shoulder. She refused to sit, however, and chose to stand, using her grip on a lock of the shapeshifter's hair to steady herself. After what had happened with the girl only moments before, Shea had fully expected for the guy to leave her alone and walk away. So it surprised her when he walked back towards her. The fae glared at the human with raw hatred in her eyes. This human was lucky that there was not a nest of fae anywhere close by...damn it. "Hola. I hope you are tough because I am going to bring you to hell for what you did," she said, a charming smile on her face.
Although Stilia is usually in a human form, it often mimics her true face. She has large, round eyes, but otherwise her features are quite sharp. She smiles much more then she used to, but usually only out of politesse.

Stilia had watched quietly, observing the trio. They certainly were odd, the hot-tempered fae, the bear-man and the drink-throwing human. And they were certainly reckless. The Shifter changed right in front of the human, and the fae certainly wasn't being careful to hide her existence either.
And now, oddly enough, the two supernaturals bickered as if the human wasn't there! If that girl was one of the hunters she had been warned against, the other two would certainly be dead.
Actually, Stilia wasn't sure if the human was hunter or no, due to the fact that the human girl wasn't panicking. No panicking was an oddly good reaction to meeting supernatural creatures for the first time. The girl seemed almost petrified, as if the gorgon had turned her eyes on her.
She decided it might be safer to leave this time, but as she went to turn, her tail knocked over a garbage can. Cursing the small spaces of human settlements, she shot into the nearest hiding spot she could find... A large trash bin the size of a small truck. She plugged her nose andhoped no one came over.
