The meeting adjourned and he gathered up his things. One brown eye one blue eye looked around at his peers before he laid eyes on the general. He grabbed his briefcase and moved out into the hall waiting for him to exit. Once he had Clerig moved into his path.
"General, I have a question for you."
His beloved daughter was missing, without any clue as to where she was he was getting anxious, he would be out looking for her himself, if he didn't have a work, but he knew the general had the resources, to find her and bring her home alive. He pulled a wallet sized picture out of his pocket, warn down but it was Evangeline's picture, from a recent dance performance. He held the picture out to the General.
"My daughter has gone missing. There has been a rumor you are about to rally publicly against the supes. If you help me find her, I can get you to the city of Heliopolis, the holy city of the Fire Elementals."
General Atrax had been at the meeting. Dull, boring political bullshit as usual. However his eyes and rested for the most part of the meeting upon a certain congressman, named Clerig Michael Blazer. He was an odd man. Firey and always out spoken against what he though was wrong and right. He was a good man, making him a potential target in his plans to rally support to raise money and make ends meet. When the meeting was adjourned, and stood, stretched, allowing his muscles to bulge and knot beneath his flesh and slowly made his way from the room.
He was way laid by the same congressman, who flashed a picture of a pretty young girl before the General's eyes. He knew here. In fact, he had been keeping tabs upon her. She was an elemental, and air elemental to be specific. He was going to use her eventually to figure out where the holy city of the air elementals where. At the mention of her gone missing, he simply nodded and grasped the congressman's upper arm in a strong, firm grip and began to lead his down the hallway.
"Lets talk some where more quiet, Congressman Blazer." He said, leading the other man down a few corridors until there was nobody else present. Checking the doors for one unlock, Atrax lead the man inside and closed the door behind them and locked it.
"So, you want me to help you find your missing daughter, huh? In exchange for information upon the holy city of fire elementals? How exactly would you know about that place? I have had my suspicions that was the city, but that has all they have been so far." The General crossed his arms, eyeing the other man with interest. Maybe there was more to him then meet the eyes. He knew where his daughter was. But that was not something he was going to reveal so quickly with out making sure he was getting something in return.
"As for the rumor of my rally of support. That will happen eventually. But only after certain plans have proven fruitful and I have successes to show for my hard work and the power to back myself up." He shrugged. He was in no hurry. He had many plans, some interact and deeply woven, others much more shallow that only lead to minor achievements and successes that wouldn't even arouse suspicion once done. It was all about time. And manipulation.

He walked away with the General before listening. He knew his daughter wasn't an elemental. She never kept anything from him. The fact of how he knew where the holy city was, he knew the General wasn't a fan of supes, so he wouldn't come out and say exactly why he knew unless he knew he would be safe.
"I have seen it with my own eyes."
Lie. He had been there, and teleported there on a regular basis. He knew he would need to offer something in return.
"You know I have a lot in my favor. I will publicly support you in all your endeavors, as well as come out to the community as an Elementalist. You must ensure my daughter will be safe. She is no elementalist, but my pride and joy. You must promise me she will not be harmed and I swear on my fire I will support everything you do."
The man was honest, but he always was a verbal fighter, it was why he join politics, he could physically harm people, but he chose not too. He moved with he words, and he had no doubt he could get many people behind him to support Atrax.
Atrax nodded at the words the congressman spoke. He knew he was holding back. It was in his eyes and body language. But if he had really seen it, that was good enough for Atrax at the moment and he wouldn't pry farther until a later time. However, the congressman's stout denial of his daughter's elementalist properties amused him slightly. So, despite all his political prowess and power, he was blind when it came to his daughter. That was fine, something else to use against the congressman later perhaps.
"Oh, in that cause I will gladly help you find your daughter. And I promise you, her BODY will come to no harm by myself or any of my own people." He smiled and extended his hand to the congressman to shake it. A pretty odd feeling, getting into an alliance with one of his enemies. But it was a good cause. He would gain the knowledge this man had, use him for a time then call off this small truce they had.
"But don't come out as an elementalist just yet. That might go against the campaign itself. Humans will want to believe they can win this by themselves. I know better, but when I comes to that, they will see it as accepting an enemies help and it will not go over well."

He nodded. He wouldn't come out until it was strategically the best moment in time. He had assured she would be physically safe from harm. But he wanted his whole daughter mind and soul safe.
"I will expect information as soon as it arrives, anything and everything about her. Until then I can work on what ever it is you need me to work on."
He said crossing his arms over his chest and leaning against the wall. His two different colored eyes looked over the General. They were complete opposites. Where the General was built to fight, Clerig was built with wide shoulders and replied on his mind and not his strength. His fire helped him was younger and got into fights, but once Eva was born he had only used his powers for simple stuff, lighting a camp fire, candles, simple stuff. It was during his once a year trip to Heliopolis, he used his powers to the full extent, dueling other elementals for ranks. He not only wanted a high rank in his everyday life, which he achieved, but he also strove for it in his life of fire. Most world leaders were an Elementalist in some way or another.
The general saw the congressman looking him up and down. Was he sizing him up, or calculating. It didn't really matter. They where allies now. That was all that counted. He nodded at the congressman's demand. That was reasonable enough. He stood straighter and smiled.
"Then now is the time you would need a report. I have been tracking your daughter. I lost her for a time in Russia. I don't know where she went to. We lost her for some time in the tundra. However, she reappeared back in Canada a few weeks ago, and has been having some trouble due to those wanted posters you put out." The general tsked several times and shook his head.
"That was not a very wise idea congressman. Do you know the types of men who usually take those contracts? I really hope you didn't want your daughter returned by them in the same physical shape. Lets just say, those men would have not trouble or thought about harming your daughter in areas not view-able by yourself. And they would threaten her to keep silent by saying they would kill you."

She's alive? Relief flooded the man's body as the knowledge that his daughter was alive. Russia? She was in Russia before being now in Canada?
"where in Canada. I can go to her, I can get her."
He could teleport to her. If he knew where exactly she was he could get her. Of coarse he would still support Atrax, but with his daughter home he could work fully.
The posters. Those damn posters. He didn't mean to cause trouble, he just wants her safe. If anything happens to her because of those posters he wouldn't be able to forgive himself. The mans shoulders fell as he thought about her and he rubbed his forehead, rubbing back the head that was forming behind his eyes.
"Do you have a wife? Or children General?"
He asked dropping his hand to look at the man straight on. He had never know anything like the love of his child when she was born. He worked hard to give her what she needed, but as angry as he was for her disappearing, he just wanted her safe above all.
The general shook his head slowly. "I don't have an exact position of where she is at. Just a general idea. Though last I heard she was safe and sound. A dark elemental is helping her stay safe. That is all the information I have." He was lying hard, but he was extremely proficient at it from having to lie to some of his subordinates. He didn't bat a eyelid, look away, or so much as shift position. He had even practiced attached to several lie detectors, and worked until he could pass most of them. He sighed at the congressman's question, shaking his head.
"Unfortunately, no. I have dedicated my life to my work, and never had the chance to find love and settle down to raise children. I have heard it is one of the most amazing things that can happen, but I doubt I will ever get the chance." He shrugged, and uncrossed his arms, stepped forward and reached up and rested a hand upon the congressman's shoulder.
"Don't worry, Congressman Blazer. I will help you find your daughter, safe and sound. From the sounds of it, this gentleman helping her is very adept at what he does. He is ex Italian mafia hit man. Now he is just a hit man for hire, and he only takes extremely well paying, killing jobs. So your daughter should be safe with him. Unless somebody puts a hit out on her." He slightly emphasized the should, because he didn't know the man himself. He could end up being a loose cannon, or a really powerful being. General Atrax already had plans for him. Dark elementals where extremely rare, and it was one of the few holy cities he did not know of yet.

She was safe at least. What was she doing with a Dark Elemental? He had never met one but figured they would be like there element. Dark, angry. His worry escalated. How had she involved herself with a supe? How did she find out about this world? He had done everything, everything he could to shield her from this world. Placed charms around her, watched her carefully for any signs of her own powers. She showed nothing. So how did this world still find her? An ex mafia? He would burn the man alive if he laid a single finger on his daughter.
"It is the most beautiful thing in the world, someday may you be lucky enough to experience it."
He was honest in his words. Everyone should be able to experience love in their life, whether its the love of a woman or a child. He knew he was lucky enough to have both. With that love came other feelings as well, including overwhelming need to protect. Fixing his tie a bit, even though it was already perfect. He dreaded going home. Wanting Eva back wasn't just something he wanted. He needed it. His wife, was a depressed mess. It was her idea for the posters. The woman spent all her days and nights in their daughters bedroom, only eating when he forced her too. The doors always had to remain unlocked, for if Eva came home and the doors were locked she may turn around.
That was what his wife believed at least. He left her to believe that, but it was breaking his heart to see her like that. The man put up his strong facade, but on the inside he was withering away.
Atrax brushed the simple statement aside casually, but with out hate. He simply didn't believe in love for himself. He believed in love in general, but didn't believe anybody could love himself. He was to calculating and hard.
"I seriously doubt that would ever happen to me. I am not lucky, but hard working. And that tends to get in the way of any really beautiful things happening in my life. It doesn't make me bitter or sad. Its just my choice, and I made it a long time ago when it came to work or a personal life. You can guess which one I chose."
Atrax opened the door and poked his head out of the room. He glanced from side to side, checking to make sure the coast was clear. He then stepped from the room and waited for Congressman Blazer to follow, shutting the door behind them. He then began to stride down the hallway with long, but measuredly slow so the congressman could keep up, strides. His hands he kept behind his back, his right hand clasping his left hands wrist which was made into a fist.
"So Congressman, now that we have an understanding, what are your plans? I believe, if I devote some valuable resources, that I could possible have your daughter to you in a few weeks time. In the mean time, what is it you plan on doing?"

He considered himself unlucky? Luck, it had nothing to do with love. But then again maybe it did. Fate, was more like it. Fate had everything to do with it. The General had made his decision, if it was ment to be different, fate would easily step in and change it.
He followed the General out his arms resting at his sides.
"Attended meetings, put out political fires. Await news. If you need me for anything, just let me know. I do more then push papers."
He could started fires, and put them out figuratively and literally. He was getting anxious waiting for the return of his daughter. He nodded in greeting to some passing congress members.
"Might I ask what brought you to the law meeting in the first place, surely you had better things to do."
"Oh, I know you do more the just push papers. As to what I was doing in the meeting, it is always good to listen in on what others are saying. You can hear what your enemies are saying, and what your allies are doing. Also you can always look for more futuristic allies as well. It is good intel gathering. That is all."
Atrax shrugged. He hated going to those meetings, but after all it did lead to exactly what he had said. The proof was standing there and speaking to him at this exact moment. If he had not gone to the meeting, then he would not have meet Congressman Blazer face to face, and they would not right now be allies. Even negative things had their advantages. One just had to look at them in the correct kind of light and at the right angle. It was all a matter of perspective, something he had learned a while ago.
