This was the second time Cag was attempting to find this impressive creature. The last was a flop. Failed rumors, botched missions. It all had gone down hill quickly. So here he was in Egypt, again. This time he was determined. He would find and kill this thing himself if he had to. He smirked and leaned against the bar, watching the patrons mill about. Two hours was all he lacked. Two hours before his ship sailed down the Nile River to where he wanted to go. Well, almost to where he wanted. The captain refused to go all the way to where the mighty Sphinx had been spotted last. So he would have to find the rest of the way himself.
He sighed and stretched slightly, his enchanted katana Kishin sheathed upon his back, and his two black sai upon his belt. Two silver throwing where ensconced in a small leather pouch at the small of his back. He had come prepared this time, not like last time. He was ready for a grueling battle this time.
Although Stilia is usually in a human form, it often mimics her true face. She has large, round eyes, but otherwise her features are quite sharp. She smiles much more then she used to, but usually only out of politesse.

It was lovely. The hot sun, the warm sand tickling her between her toes…. Her toes! Her lovely, magnificent, humanoid toes. Stilia had managed it, to shape shifting her long snake tail into human-like legs, allowing her to approach the other species, with little worry over her identity being discovered. She would hate to be captured again, and thanked Gods that Vivian came along and got her out. Smiling brightly, she shook away the darker memories, and continued her trek.
Ever since her adventure by whichever-God-had-summoned-them’s hand, her thirst for adventure grew, and she actively searched it out. That is when she heard of the greatest quest; the hunt for the Sphinx. Rumors were that the killer of such a creature could visit the God’s realm when they pleased. It would be the ultimate adventure, a story worthy of being recorded in books. So her search had led her to Egypt, which had a lovely climate in the Gorgon’s opinion.
She was almost there, where the Sphinx was rumored to be. After receiving some human money through… various means, she had hired a small boat, sailing down the Nyle. The captain, a suspicious man, dropped her off before her wanted destination, and now she was there, in the desert, walking to the location. As soon as the ship was out of sight, she planned to re-shift into her gorgon self, so that she may slither the rest of the way. Much easier than walking.

"Fuck, it's hot!" exclaimed the shapeshifter, tying her hair back into a ponytail and placing her sunglasses back down on the bridge of her nose.
Jinx never liked hot weather. At all. Especially not desert-hot. The guy she paid to take her up the Nile dropped her off about two miles away from her destination, refusing to take her any closer. She rolled her eyes and jumped off the boat, landing with a small thud on the desert sand. Digging into her jean pocket, she pulled out some money and threw it on the boats deck. The captain ran for the money and collected it, counting it as she began to walk away.
"H-Hold on," shouted the captain. "This isn't enough!" Jinx scoffed and looked over her shoulder. "You didn't take me close enough, so that's all you're getting from me, dickhead." She continued her stroll, but not without flipping the captain off.
She pulled out a small compass from her pocket, wiping the damp sweat from her brow, looking at the map in hand. She had to continue on north for another two miles or so. She growled, folding the map and furiously stuffed in into her pocket. Coming to Egypt was never on her to-do list, but rumor had it that there was a special prize for whoever defeated an ancient Egyptian creature; the Sphinx. What that prize was, she wasn't sure. But it was something that the Gods and Goddesses were offering, basically, for free, so how could she pass up suck an offer?
Still, whatever the 'prize' was, it had better be worth it. She also hear that she was not going to be the only one seeking the Sphinx's head. She smirked at the idea. Some competition. How fun.

Some days before before... Sol raised his head and paused in his work as he heard the aged and rotten creaking sound of floorboards split the relative silence that was accompanied by the occasional crack of fracturing bone or the wet ripping sound of tearing flesh and the most unsettling sounds of one who is engrossed in their feast. But the sound occuring outside of the dilapedated appartment room ended them all as Sol reacted to the felt presence of an intruder upon his den. Sol was in his current hometown of Detroit, Michigan of the great United States of America. Sol sighed and shook his head slightly. F***ing peepers he thought disgustedly as he shoved what was left of the woman's body aside and he climbed unsteadily to his feet and stumbled over limbs and discarded clothing when he reached the door he found himself face to face with the manager.
Sol quickly pulled him inside and re-painted the wallpaper in a beautiful blood red. [glow=red,2,300]"I am so bored." [/glow]Sol remarked to no one in particular. [glow=red,2,300]"Im gonna go get drunk."[/glow] Sol sighed and then he left to accomplish this goal.
That brings us to his current situation. Sol opened his eyes to a stinging glare and the feel of irritating bugs swarming about him. He sat up and quickly clutched his head in agony. [glow=red,2,300]"Fuuuck..." [/glow]Sol groaned. What happened he wondered. Sol looked about and noted a river to his right, alot of sand, and a woman exiting a boat. Sol felt a cramp in his back and reached back to rub it but felt a wing in the way which made him pause. shit i must have reverted Sol thought. He quickly asserted his will over his form and was once again a 6ft 1 white male with black hair. Sol stood and smoothed his clothes and stumbled towards the woman, hoping to ask where he was while thinking the entire time how hot it was. [glow=red,2,300]"this shit is why i live in the north." [/glow]he muttered to himself. When he made it to her he stood up straight and brushed the hair back from his face. [glow=red,2,300]"Hello, my name is Sol and i have a rather embaressing question for you." [/glow]he paused while smiling warmly, [glow=red,2,300]"where exactly am i? As in what state or country..."[/glow] he asked while waiting patiently.

Dexter was sweltering in his leather jacket. He usually liked hot places but the desert in his 'expert' opinion was 'taking it too far'. He sweated and fussed under the sun's cruel glare. He wore mirrored aviator sunglasses to keep the glare from his eyes. The sunglasses were the first of their kind as was much of what Dexter usually wore. He was a hoarder and generally kept his
He let out a soft growl as he exited the boat and looked around. Where was the little Shapeshifter? He had been following this guy around for a while now. He seemed to think he could find the Sphinx. Whatever the case something about him rubbed Dexter the wrong way. That and the fact it would be utterly hilarious to see what would happen if he went to fight the Sphinx and found his enchanted blade missing or even if Dexter was to swoop in at the last moment and strike the Sphinx down.
Dexter looked around and noticed a female (Stilia) walking off into the sand. She seemed like a shapeshifter to him so he set out after her wondering exactly where the enchanted blade had went. He briefly debated morphing into his true form and flying after her but he preferred not to expend the effort of doing so. The flying more than the morphing of course.

A frown creased the face of the Demon Zyxyz. After his assignment in Afghanistan had been a (mostly) success, the Demons of Rome had seen fit to give him a leave to relax. Instead, he decided to go romping around the Egyptian wilderness in search of a beast that was supposed to be smarter, faster, and more dangerous than he. Good thinking, big guy. Zyxyz shook his own thought away. Pessimism and negative-thinking could only get one killed in places like this. A bead of sweat that had been dangling from the bottom of his chin finally fell and plummeted downwards, reminding him of just how precarious the situation was. His fingers tightened on their holds on the crag of rock, holding him close to the semi-cliff wall. About seven feet up was the Sphinx, looking for what had made that rock fall.
It'd all started a couple weeks ago. He'd gotten back to Italy and been rewarded well for his performance in Afghanistan and sent on leave. That evening, Mikel had commented on a job he'd just finished in Egypt and how there was a lot of local gossip about a monstrous bird-lion. Mikel was on leave, too, and dead-set on investigating. 96 hours later, they were departing from a boat that had dropped them off at Luxor, home of the ancient city of Thebes. After much investigating and whatnot, they'd ended up here. To their (somewhat) surprise, it was all true. Mikel got carried away for the first time in his life and the Sphinx had shredded Mikel to -shit- before Zyxyz could even call after his childhood (and lifelong) friend. Now Zyxyz was clinging to a rock wall as he had been for twenty minutes hoping that this abominable fucker would just let him get back to town to regroup and get a hunting party up or something. Just one chance to make you pay... Zyxyz thought.[/size]

After a fair bit of walking upon her new legs, she was beginning to wonder what all the fuss about them was. It was much more tiring then slithering along, and it moved muscles Stilia had never used before, while some that were well toned from use became purposeless. Really, it wasn’t as glamorous as she believed, and she wondered how humans got anywhere quickly, or how they managed to travel far distances.
“These are a pain,” she mumbled to herself, the earlier feeling of ecstasy fading, the sand now scorching her newfound toes. She longed for her old form, and knowing that few humans crossed this part of the desert, she was ready to change back. Just to check, she did a full turn, and was glad she did, for her eyes fell upon a nearby figure headed her way. He could obviously see her, and she wondered if he was seeking her for help, or for some other reason. Either way, she ceased her walking to let him catch up with her, figuring she could not change until she was away from mortal eyes. As he approached, she could smell the slight scent of brimstone and other things, which made her doubt his immortality, but she was still weary in case it was simply the scents of the sandy desert.
As he finally caught up with her, she pursed her lips slightly, wanting to go and take her form. “Are you lost Sir? Have you come for assistance?”
Post by Dexter Pendragon on Jan 8, 2012 18:10:06 GMT -5
Dexter didn’t stop when she stopped. For some reason or another something had compelled him to keep walking. That same thing had even caused him to catch up with the being he was meant to be following.
As he approached however he could smell something faintly inhuman about the women. With further tentative sniffs he made out the faint but familiar smell of Gorgon.
“A la Napoli!” He cursed in Italian. It meant “Go to Naples” in Italian. Dexter had heard it somewhere and, after a rather horrible incident in Naples, took it up as his own personal curse. Dexter, having thought the one curse was not enough, let off a string of other curse words in multiple languages.
When he had finally calmed down he turned to face the gorgon. “Huh,” He sighed “Are you morphing, shapeshifting or synchronising, gorgon?” He asked and standing tall he morphed his magnificent, blackened wings sprouting from two circular holes cut from his leather jacket.
“I’m Dexter but gorgons, mermaids, the fae, reapers and my other pals from each race get to call me Dex.” He added in at the end. He would have tried something against her but at that moment he really just wanted to get to the Sphinx and teach that shapeshifting bastard a lesson for losing him. That and the fact he’d promised a gorgon once that he’d leave their race alone in exchange for their help a very long time ago.

Sol waited for a reply for what seemed like days to him in the hot weather but was actually just a few moments. For the first time he noticed the expression on her face. It was one of absolute horror that Sol was unaccustomed to seeing while he was in his human form. The woman began to shake uncontrollably with fear and she bagan to gape at him. Slowly her hand lifted to point at him. Sol frowned and looked down and frakly he was surprised to find his shirt soaked in blood but that wasnt all he could see. Sol slowly lifted his hand to the side of his head and his eyes narrowed at what he found there. He took out a small pocket mirror and looked at himself only to see a face that literally half human and half demon with one of his horns having been what he had felt on the side of his head.
Sol sighed and chuckled slightly. [glow=red,2,300]"I know this may sound cliche but you do realise that after what youve seen i cannot allow you to live right?"[/glow] he told the woman who was beginning to turn pale as if she was deathly ill. She opened her mouth to scream but quickly found Sol's hand covering her mouth. Sol shushed her and said "there will be plenty of time for that later." with his other hand Sol cuffed the side of her head sharply with the palm of his hand and she went out like the breath of a dying child. Sol then preceded to dig a hole in the sand that was about 12 ft in depth. Once he was fininshed he grabbed the unconcious woman by the ankle and pulled he in behind him, allowing the sand to cover them.
Sol was snug underground cool in the darkness, away from the unpleasant sun, when he heard muffled voices coming from above him. Sol stirred slightly in the remains of what had once been a woman and after he had scrubbed himself clean with some ground water that had leaked in from the nearby river and some sand he pulled on his pants, for Sol never risked soiling his clothing when he didnt have a spare change. The shirt was ruined so he went without. Checking once more to make sure his transformation was perfect Sol emerged from the sand in his ivory skinned, ebony haired, and blue eyed form of a handsome human male. He emerged to the sight of a woman and a man standing not to far away from him. Sol yawned slightly [glow=red,2,300]"so you are the ones who disrupted my nap."[/glow] he said aloud while brushing a bit of sand from the smooth skin of his perfect almost sculpted muscles which were, along with his looks, one of the only aspects that did not change when he shifted forms. Then Sol smiled[glow=red,2,300] "I am Sol, nice to meet you both."[/glow]

Dexter looked over to see a mortal rise from the sand. He wasn't altogether alarmed at having been caught with his wings out by a mortal. He wondered, however, what the gorgon would do if he killed the mortal.
However he questioned the mortality of the being whom had just risen from the sand in a nonchalant fashion. He sniffed the air in his direction finding no particular smell but gorgon in the air and he already knew where that came from.
“I am Dexter.” He said shortly. He figured that if this being was really human then there was no harm in revealing his name to it as it truly had nowhere else to run.
“I'm a demon!” He said quickly in a beastly voice as he morphed his teeth into fangs and made his eyes glow red as he exalted his Aura of Fear on the human. If he was human he would surely become a babbling wreck or attempt to run in complete fear.
“I’m Dexter but gorgons, mermaids, the fae, reapers and my other pals from each race get to call me Dex.”

Sol smiled slightly and his face assumed an amused look while he stretched his arms to work the kinks out. As the male's voice became more beastly followed by subsequent changes to his teeth and eyes Sol merely looked on in amusement even when the wave of what anyone else would describe as fear hit him like an ice cold wave of water. Sol mentally shook his head. I wonder how many times people will have to use this on me before they realize i dont have a voice for fear? Sol asked himself. In response the voices spoke up, you should kill him suggested the violent voice, eat the woman just like you did the other, im so hungry said the famished voice. Each voice within Sol epitomised almost any emotion or feelin that could be felt and they acted as links to a part of Sol that had long since been obliterated.
Sol yawned slightly without even bothering to cover his mouth. [glow=red,2,300]"How convienient," [/glow]Sol said as he released his transformation. A cry that sounded like a mixture between pleasure, pain, and rage burst from his throat as his true form came rushing back. Thick horns grew from his forehead, his stature grew from 6"1 to 8"3, his eye color became red with green feline pupils. his fingernails turned black, his fleshed thickened and grew spiked in some areas, wings grew from his back, and lastly his flesh turned a blood red. [glow=black,9,300]"It would appear we share a common heritage then."[/glow] He examined one of his claws and then turned to look back at the demon who he now towered over. With that said Sol released his own aura of fear that anyone who felt it could tell that it was tainted with madness and any exposed to it for to long could begin to become corrupted.

Dexter shivered taking a visible step back. “My apologies then. I had not realised you were a demon and I do so enjoy the fear of mortals.” Dexter apologised the fangs becoming teeth again and his eyes going back to normal. These were not part of his true form. In truth he was much more like an angel than a demon being as he was a human with wings.
He took another step back partnered with many deep breaths. The Aura of Fear radiating from this one had been strengthened with the raw power of madness. It was too much to stand so close to him. The demon, unless he was shapeshifting, had a mighty form.
He squished a beetle underfoot as he heard it scuttle. Indeed the insects of the area seemed to have become more agitated since this one had revealed himself.
“Let's start this one again. I'm Dexter; what's your name?” Dexter tried again for the being's name.
“I’m Dexter but gorgons, mermaids, the fae, reapers and my other pals from each race get to call me Dex.”

It pleased Sol greatly to see the other demon back down for in truth Sol was much too lazy to do much other than take a nap at the moment. With the conflict ended Sol once more morphed back into his human form and he shut off his aura. [glow=red,2,300]"My name is Sol and it is a pleasure to meet you both."[/glow] Sol said while flashing his signature smile at the woman that made it difficult to believe that he could be anything other than a very handsome man who was perfectly harmless. Turning his full attention to the woman Sol said [glow=red,2,300]"My apologies, i have been quite rude. I apologize for ignoring you for so long."[/glow] Sol said to her [glow=red,2,300]"One should never forget his manners around a woman, especially one as beautiful as yourself."[/glow] Sol flashed his smile again [glow=red,2,300]" I am Sol and who may i ask are you?"[/glow] Sol spoke with all sincerity and it seemed as if for a moment he had forgotten all about the man.

Dexter looked the demon over in full. He finally concluded that he was much more into mortals. His preference recently had just been mortal women but every now and again a mortal man would come along that couldn't be declined. Of course Dexter never let them decline either.
He watched as the demon, of whom he now knew was named Sol, work his wiles with the female gorgon. He smiled thinly to himself. Boy was he about to get a shock when she revealed herself fully.

Zyxyz grunted as his feet made contact with the boulder to his left. The Sphinx had moved away for only a moment and Zyxyz leapt as hard as he could to keep from being dashed on the rocks below. Unfortunately, the Sphinx seemed to have good hearing and was instantly over the edge of the precipice it'd been perched on previously. Zyxyz heaved away from the boulder just as the Sphinx made it to him and allowed himself to freefall towards the ground below. Just before the would-be fatal impact, he spread his wings to soften the landing and took off running, being careful to keep his ears sharp for sounds of pursuit. There were none. The Sphinx had probably assumed its target would be dead on the ground below.
Zyxyz ran most of the four miles to the outskirts of Luxor and arrived sweating and panting like a marathon runner, not a lover of this desert heat. After he had finally caught his breath, he asked around for the nearest place to sleep off his weariness, knowing that tomorrow would be a very busy day for him. The language barrier wasn't being very nice to him and it wasn't until 8 in the evening that he finally found a place to sleep. He showered and prepared for bed and went to sleep. The morning would begin his plan for vengeance.
