The daemoness walked over to a portable tool chest and pulled it along with her as she made her way back over towards the truck. She wandered over to the driver side and opened the door, reaching in to pop the hood release before walking back to the front of the truck and pulling the hood up. She propped it in place and peered down inside the engine compartment, looking over the currently installed engine and furrows her brow as she begins to ponder just what route she wanted to take with the vehicle.
"I did warn you it would take some time to do this Mister Helviath. Removing an engine and transmission are no small matter. I can't really think of anything you'd be able to do. At least not without a vehicle. The only task that even remotely comes to mind is bringing in the rest of the parts as they come in... Not everyone delivers out here no matter what kind of connections we have." The woman stated distractedly as she began leaning in to look down between the engine and the body. "The small parts would be... possible. You could probably carry those... though it's a hell of a walk. Some of the larger ones.... Well the block would be shipped directly here, but the radiator and some other sizable parts would be quite the pain. Unless you've got another vehicle stashed around here somewhere I'm not sure you'd be able to pull that one off... Though I suppose getting lunch would save time..."
She walked back over to the tool chest and picked up a tablet. She quickly loaded up an app and began browsing it, looking up information on the Ranger. Having spotted the tag on the radiator support she was able to look up the specific year and even trim of the vehicle. She noted the engine difference, but that would be of little concern, seeing as it was going to be replaced anyway. "Looks like it's already had some motor work done on it as well."

Adam nods, "more than happy to try and do whatever I can...And yea, it seemed to have a little bit of work...." He sits down on the floor in a meditative like position, legs folded and arms in his lap. With a faint smile he immediately passes out, thankfully he is fairly out of the way. For once in a long time he feels safe enough to fall asleep and not just rest at a constant state of alertness. If woken up he would move to different spots like next to the garage door.
If nothing out of the ordinary happens (your choice) Adam spends most of his time out of the way and looks for any book there is. When he finds one he sits down and reads the whole thing, making sure to put it back in the exact spot it was found. Whatever her order or question he answers quickly and happily. He seems to be enjoying the stay just as much as the process. Some days were different but generally he went on her simple errands such as lunch fetching, making sure that he flirted occasionally with the deamoness' helper. Regardless, for the most part, Adam listened to Rennia's instructions to the letter.

The daemoness gave a hrm of disapproval as she looked betwen the engine bay and the screen she was looking at. "Looks like we'll be going with a supercharged three eighty three... Probably going to need a slight body lift, tight fit too... gonna need to replace those radiators." She continues muttering to herself about the rest of the details as she jots them down on the tablet.
She turned and nodded to the other woman. "You know the drill." With that the other woman scampered back off into the office and immediately began looking up things on the computer there. Meanwhile Rennia walked to either side of the vehicle and kicked the lift stands out and settled them into place. She didn't lift the vehicle now, but she would probably be doing so sometime in the near future.
The daemoness started her operation with the basics. She grabbed a small socket wrench and disconnected the battery. Afterward she subsequently removed it before going about her work, which for the first day, wasn't a hell of a lot. It was mostly just disconnecting the various electronic clutter that covered the top half of the engine. The knock sensors, ignition and fuel control, and AC and alternator wiring were among the many different menial tasks. Soon she made use of that lift, jacking the truck up just enough to get under it at a slight crouch. There she drained the oil, and soon the coolant from the radiator. With that done, and how late it was, she would call it a day.
The next day would prove to be a lot more interesting. Rennia would set out service manuals for the '96 Ranger specifically, as well as a few engine and transmission manuals. However the man might find himself to be interrupted a few times as she did, albeit reluctantly, ask him to help move some of the larger objects, like his hood for example. That was one of the first things to go. Then when the Radiator. The other woman proved to be busy most of the day making phone calls for various parts, and thus unable to help her with the task of lifting the other side of the large hood.
Then Rennia really got down to it as she even crawled into the engine bay, using the radiator support as a makeshift bench. Piece by piece she disconnected everything attaching the engine to the truck. The grounding wires, the cables, the headers and so fourth. She also removed excess parts that she might have been able to get away with leaving on, just for extra clearance. Finally she'd crawl underneath the truck without lifting it. She tugged along a floor jack as she began separating the engine from the transmission.
After all was said and done, the fun part came. The shop had multiple engine hoists, but the daemoness, ever the fan of old fashioned muscle power, used the manual chain hoist. Using three short chains bolted directly to the block where the intake manifold had been removed, she attached the engine to the hoist. She waited for the other woman (Who by now would be known as Kristen) to come out, and with her watching and Rennia lifting, the two cleared the engine from the truck.
From there it was lowered down until it could be attached to an engine stand. Afterward Kristen would go back to making calls as Rennia began taking pieces off the old engine. She had no intention of using any of them on the new engine (since they'd never fit anyway), but she still wanted the crank and the block. Those could still be used. It was possible the pistons, cams, and a few other parts could have been, but they were likely too far damaged from his abuse of it during that trip a few weeks prior, and anything he had done since.
By the end of the day, Rennia had the headers removed, the heads, the oil pan and filter, the remaining oil, and the remaining front end pieces, including the balancer and the timing plate cover. When that was said and done, she called Adam over again and grabbed a crank wrench. Once he was over, she'd rotate the engine so that the piston heads were face up and snapped the wrench on the end. She began to turn it to demonstrate the basic inner workings of the engine and how the pistons moved at different times and so fourth.
At the start of the third day, Kristen had joined Rennia, each seeming to work on a different task. Rennia finished stripping the block down before turning her attention to the transmission. The truck had been lifted already as Kristen started on the exhaust, ripping out the old system and setting it aside to be scrapped later. Then she began working on the rear end suspension, removing everything piece by piece. Every so often they would hit a snag, slowing them down as a piece seemed to be seized on, or a bolt snapped.
Over the course of the next three days, they would essentially gut the Ranger. Those three days were also, consequently the time it took for the majority of the engine parts to arrive. It only takes a couple long days for Rennia and Kristen to assemble the new engine completely. At that point they'd do out of the vehicle testing on it, making sure it checked out before they set it aside and finished working on the rest of the vehicle. During the process a couple other people show up for a short time, helping do body and interior work as Rennia and Kristen work on the outer mechanical items.
By the end of the second week, Rennia and Kristen would be putting in the final touches, installing the disk brakes, bleeding them, installing the radiator and hoses. A pair of electric (Vs pulley driven) fans are installed into the radiator housing as well. The truck would also need a new hood to allow the new engine underneath to fit in properly. That would arrive just in time to get painted and show up on the last day.
When all was said and done, the vehicle started up without a hitch (thankfully due to the testing), and was taken for it's initial test run by Kristen, leaving Rennia in the shop with Adam.

Adam was diligent in his goal for understanding and simply listening to Rennia. When he was not reading, sleeping, hitting on Kristen, or running errands, he was doing sit ups, push ups, and just generally working out and keeping his body up. He enjoyed watching the two of them working. While he may not have the brute strength from lifting mass amounts of weights, he seems to have the endurance for long bouts. When the day finally came where it was time to test drive it, he got pretty excited. His big smile stretched from ear to ear as he watched the new beast pull out of the garage and drive off. He turns to Rennia with the same smile. "Looks beautiful.. Thank you." He starts to stretch as he walks over to where he laid his jacket down. He swings it over his shoulder as he holds it, reaching down to pick up any loose things that he dropped and putting them back in his jacket. He looks back at Rennia, still smiling,
"Wanna get some drinks? Me... you... Kristen... " He seems to have a peppier tone when he says Kristen's name whether he meant to or not. He starts to walk over to where Rennia was standing. Jacket over his left shoulder held by his left hand while his right thumb sat snugly in his jeans pocket letting his arm rest. For someone who has slept in a garage he surprisingly is not smelly or grungy. It would appear that when he left the shop on some days he would swing by a laundry mat, or simply used a random person's hose in their yard. The man was used to living on the road it seemed and he was happy to finally have his pseudo house back.

Rennia and Kristen continued to work long hours, working to make sure the truck was finished at least close to her original quote. For the most part Rennia seemed oblivious to him in the corner as she seemed to be in her element while working on that vehicle. To her, everything seemed to require perfection. Often times she'd redo something multiple times because it didn't sit just right. It took a bit longer that way, but she would rather take longer and do it right from the start, than have something sub par that needed to be worked on again later. Every so often she'd look over at Kristen as she laughed and shook her head whenever Adam tried to flirt with her, and would chuckle whenever Kristen gave back a teasing jab at the man before returning to her work.
She gazed over at the man as he offered his thanks and she shrugged in return. "You're paying for it... Normally not monetarily motivated, but the world runs on it so... what can you do?" She watched the truck as it rounded the corner. "You'll have to break it in for the first five hundred miles. No speeding. In fact, keep your speed low. Don't take all five hundred miles in one trip. No hard braking, no off-roading. Change the oil and filter after that five hundred miles, and take it to a qualified mechanic for tuning. It'll need to be tuned again at that point. Afterwards... Don't trash it. It's a beast but it's not indestructible. Keep it out of the red line and mind your gears. You should be able to hit... maybe one-seventy.... if you're lucky. I wouldn't bank on it... but it's faster than what you had before by a long shot. You toasted your engine trying to catch up with me. I'm surprise it lasted this long frankly. And... "
She paused and walked over to a table, picking up what appeared to be a decently sized gear. When she held it up, it would be painfully obvious that it was missing several teeth completely, and a few more were chipped. The gear itself was also cracked. "This was in your transmission. If you had tried that with a full load in the rear, you'd have completely trashed your transmission." She walked back over to the table and set the gear down before picking up a rag to clean her hands off. "Your old parts are going to be part of your payment. Most of them are just worth their weight in steel... but the block, crank, and flywheel are still salvageable."
She paused and perked her brows as she looked over at him. "You really aim high don't you? Just don't come crying to me...." The second part of her statement was somewhat teasing as she walked back into the shop. She made her way over to the office and tugged off her jacket, hanging it up on the rack. After that she began unlacing her boots before pulling them off. Then she unzipped her pants and tugged them off as well. Unfortunately for Adam (were he peeping) she was not down to her underwear. Beneath those work pants were a set of jean shorts, practically Daisy Dukes. After she had finished pulling her pants off, she paused for a moment. She looked at her boots for a moment before looking over at another pair of shoes. Despite how much she hated wearing anything other than her combat boots.. She didn't really feel like changing into anything else. Combat boots really didn't go that well with her cropped top T-shirt and short shorts. She sighed and picked up the other set of shoes, which were surprisingly high-heeled shoes. Of course, being Rennia, the heels were still shallow and nowhere near stiletto type in nature. While she did agree they had a certain appeal to them visually, they were a functionality nightmare.
Rennia walked back out into the shop in that cropped black T that showed most of her stomach, including the gem studded naval piercing she had. It also hugged her upper frame, pronouncing every curve underneath, including the shamelessly revealing bra underneath. Below that she had those short dark blue jean shorts that showed off the majority of her long, athletic legs. Finally at the bottom she had those shallow black heels that finished off the look.
She walked back over to the door, waiting with Adam for the return of Kristen and the truck. After a good twenty minutes, the roar of that new engine could be heard as the truck rolled back up towards the shop. It came to a stop just outside, and from within you could just barely make out the woman gawking at Rennia's current outfit. A few moments pass before she finally climbs out of the vehicle. She would let out a low whistle at Rennia and chuckle. "Someone got a date?"
Rennia shook her head and chuckled. "He seems intent on getting drinks and I really don't care to be guilt tripped again.... You're coming with." Kristen stopped mid chuckle and blinked. "Wait... what? Nuh uh. No. Not happening." Rennia gave her a firm gaze as she perked her brow. Kristen whined and let out a groan. "Fine. Let me go get something to wear... but I'm driving!" Rennia chuckled again as she watched Kristen head into the shop. "Fine by me. I've got heels on." Kristen stopped and whipped around, looking down at Rennia's feet. "Oh my god. You do! Wow... I never knew you knew what they were!' Rennia shot the woman a look and Kristen laughed before running off to get changed herself.
When Kristen came back she was dressed in a somewhat more modest full t-shirt and jeans. Like Rennia, both hugged her frame, but she showed off a significantly smaller amount of skin. She also retained a set of boots on her feet, unlike Rennia. Rennia tossed the woman the keys to her car, which caused the woman to squeal in delight. Kristen may or may not have liked the concept of driving Rennia's Stingray....

Adam smiles at the little banter between the two as he waits. When Kristen goes to change he leans over and says softly. "You look very lovely..." He leans back and bows his head with closed eyes and a soft smile. "Your fiance is very lucky." There is no sense of desire or jealousy, he is simply complimenting her because he can. When Kristen suddenly turns the corner after he finished his words his eyebrows perk as his smile grows. "Wow... You look gorgeous..."
His compliment is seemingly cut short by the woman's enthusiasm for driving the bullet. Adam chuckles as they start to head out. He'd run his hand along the truck, admiring it to it's fullest as he walks around it. He'd look at Rennia for either his key-less or if there was somehow room in the bullet. Regardless, before they head out he searches for the last bit of cash he has, it's not a fortune but it should be enough for quite a few rounds. He finishes and puts it away, a smile on his face as they set out. He simply goes along with them where ever they stop.

The two of them suddenly stop and look at Adam for a moment after his comment about Rennia's fiance. For a moment that awkward silence settles in before Kristen would slip off to get changed. Rennia was left scratching at her forehead and offering a polite smile. Thankfully Kristen soon returned and she turned her attention toward her, waiting for her to get closer before she tossed those keys at her.
Kristen chuckled at the comment before squealing at the chance to drive the 'Vette. Before she forgot she tossed something towards Rennia, which she'd grab and look at as it sat in her hand. Her gaze then turned towards Adam and she tossed him the small object, which would be his keyless remote. Then she'd walk over to her Stingray, of which Kristen was already in the driver seat of, and she'd hop into the passenger side of the vehicle. The machine roared to life and revved it's engine a few times before going into idle, waiting for Adam to climb into the truck. Once he did, the car would nearly spin it's tires as it shot backwards and turned onto the road. Then they would spin as the tires received more power than they had grip. The car shot forward like a rocket down the road, headed on it's path towards one of the local places they knew.
The place was a small bar, usually occupied by hunters and younger folks from around as well as the occasional biker, what few there were up here. It had the amenities that one might expect from a somewhat rural bar though unfortunately, recent laws had made it so that smoking was no longer allowed in such establishments. Not that that mattered to either Kristen or Rennia.

Adam follows them carefully, Rennia said not to wreck the truck right off the bat. He keeps a speed where he can watch where they turn and thankfully not many red bullets call this little spot home. As he slowly pulls up with a sly grin and elbow out the window he can't help but laugh. "Fancy meetin' you here...." he jests as he turns off the stallion of metal and machine. "Love what you've done to it..." is all he can seem to say as he looks at the truck while he closes the door behind him. "Dunno what to call it though..." He chuckles out as he walks up to where they are most likely waiting for his slow ass. "It'll come to me..."
Adam opens the door for the two gear heads as he follows in behind. He smiles as he observes the atmosphere of the quaint little bar. He walks up to the bar tender as he orders a tall jack and coke, proceeding to point to his two with him. Paying the balance for the three of them with cash and leaving a couple bucks, Adam turns around and walks to the corner where he can sit, see the bar and it's patrons, as well as not let anyone sneak up behind him.

Thankfully for Adam, Kristen kept her speed under the limit, merely taking advantage of the speed limits to open up the 'vette, reaching those speeds in seconds before leveling off. Following them would prove easy without pushing his ride as they weaved their way to the local Bar. There they'd get out and wander into the establishment.
Those inside didn't seem to be startled in the slightest by the appearance of the demonic woman. Even with her unnatural skin and hair color, along with both her wings and tail in sight, they seemed to act as if she was just another patron in the bar. This might be, as Adam would soon discover, because most of them appeared to know the woman. They would all give a simple nod to her, which she would return. No one would great her with words, for they knew her too well.
She found herself a seat across from Rennia, seeming perfectly fine with having her back to part of the bar. The door itself would be off to her left and within peripheral vision and those already inside were of no concern to the daemoness. Kristen likewise sat next to Rennia, across from Adam. After she sat down, she looked over at Rennia. "So which one of us is going light? One of us has to drive her home. Ain't no way we're leaving it here." Rennia perked a brow as she replied. "Duh. You think I'm that insane? One drink is fine enough for me. Even though I hate doing even that much." Kristen gave her a pout before chuckling. "Oh come on. Unwind. We just completely replaced the engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, exhaust and practically the rest of a truck in two weeks. Made damn good time all things considering! That's cause for something right?"
Rennia shook her head and chuckled. "We also worked longer hours than most." Kristen waved her hand dismissively. "So? Still good time." Rennia would merely roll her eyes to that and shake her head. There was however the tiniest hints of a smirk about her lips, revealing that she wasn't too dismissive of Kristen's comments. Finally when the server came around (For the two did not order drinks at the bar like their guest) Rennia sighed and ordered a glass of whiskey on the rocks and Kristen ordered herself a tequila. They were somewhat original, but so what?
When their drinks arrived, Rennia shuffled hers around on the table and Kristen started throwing hers back. Rennia chuckled and leaned back in her chair looking around at the rest of the bar idly.

Adam quirks a brow at the two as they order their drinks. A soft smirk swiftly follows. He starts to raise his glass for some cheers when kristen suddenly downs her drink. Slight amazement as well as intrigue cross his face. "So..." he trails off as he sips his drink. He starts to look between the two. "Are we square or do I still owe ya anythin' for the truck?" He proceeds to lean back in his chair as he drapes his right arm behind the back and holds his drink close to his chest with his left. His gaze is fixed on Rennia yet he seems to be unable to stop shifting, if only for brief moments, his attention to kristen.
He had already poked at Rennia and gave enough reason for her to strike him down. Kristen on the other hand was still only flirted with in passing. Would he be able to handle her drunk was the only question on his mind. He felt that Rennia thought her self above such states at all times. He decided to wait and see as he shifted his gaze back to the deamoness with a motion to the waitress for another round.
Post by Rennia Trayvold on Aug 18, 2013 19:54:35 GMT -5
After a few minutes, the fiendling would pick up the glass and take a light pull of her drink, clearly intending on nursing it for a while. Those eyes idly wandered over to Adam as he spoke before she would pull the glass down to speak. "It's still not entirely finished. It'll run fine, but it'll be a little bit rough till your new chip can be installed. It's still using the one for your old engine. Shouldn't take long to arrive. Then it can be put in by any trained mechanic, or even yourself, if you're ambitious."
She then turned her attention toward Kristen who had her phone out and appeared to be typing at it. She was still paying attention to the two of them, but from where Rennia was sitting she could easily make out Kristen working more mechanic related figures on her phone. Rennia gave a soft chuckle and shook her head again. "Weren't you telling me that I should take it easy? Here you are doing more work." Kristen shot Rennia a look and stuck her tongue out at her before going back to her task.
When the second round of drinks came in, Kristen slowed down. She could have probably tossed the second back too, but this time she had adopted a pace a little bit faster than Rennia, who was nowhere near halfway through her first glass of whiskey. "It'll be interesting trying to bank all of this money... They don't particularly care for large amounts of cash coming in suddenly... but so long as it all adds up... The final bill was bout seventy two thousand four hundred and fifty eight. That includes an engine built from the ground up, new battery, new radiator, new lines, new rear axle, new springs, new shocks, new brakes, new engine mounts, new frame mounts, new front axles, new driveshaft, new transmission, new computer system, supercharger, parts, and labor. Lotta work."
She offered a faint, polite smile as she finished before she tilted her head back and looked towards the ceiling. Her thoughts wandered off towards a recent topic that had been brought up, causing her to sigh.
Post by Adam Alexander Helviath on Aug 18, 2013 21:20:26 GMT -5
Adam's smile calms down as he hears the price and everything that the price covered. It was not a frown just a simple realization that he just used a lot of liberated cash on a personal endeavor. Even though it was to keep his mission in motion it was still slightly one sided. He decided that he would figure a way to balance it out through charitable means and the like later, Right now he was enjoying a small celebration.
None of the patrons in the bar really keep his attention long as he scans the lot of them. He nods politely with a smirk when mention of installing the chip reaches his ears. "I'll probably just pester you about it.. or try not to blow the thing up if ya kick me out." He laughs softly as a big grin crosses his face.
He fixes his gaze on Rennia once more as he gives a inquisitive expression about her current fixation toward the ceiling. "Sorry if this is...unpleasant... but may I ask about... The ruby stones on the onyx band.... you seem...." he makes a grimace as he shrugs. Opening his mouth slightly before shutting it. He associates Rennia's current expression with the look the two gave back at the shop when the man in question was mentioned.
Quickly his drink finds it's home against his lips as he looks between the two, curious as to what the answers... or wrath... may be for his question.

She gave a faint chuckle as he mentioned pestering her about that chip. She thought about replying, but merely gave the briefest of smiles before letting it fade. She closed her eyes and went back to thinking about whatever it was that caught her interest.
Then the question came. The question had the effect of causing Kristen to look up before putting her phone to sleep and suddenly paying much more attention to the other two. First she glanced over at Adam before looking over at Rennia. Rennia meanwhile slowly opened her eyes as she processed the question. Her head tilted back down past level towards the glass on the table, or more likely the hand holding it. She sat there in complete silence for possibly an entire minute before she opened her mouth to speak.
"Troubled? Bothered? Perhaps. Simply remembering. There's a reason I generally don't tell people. They usually make a fool of themselves by assuming, or asking about it. But how could you know I suppose... It's not a wedding band as you correctly guessed. It's merely an engagement ring. It's been nearly five and a half hundred years since the day it was announced." She paused as she started to say something else, but then shut her mouth. After a moment she opened it again to continue. "It wasn't death, but I don't think I need to elaborate further on that topic."
She offered a placating smile before looking off to the side as she took up that whiskey glass again and took a drink from it. Kristen meanwhile looked over at Rennia with a somewhat worried expression about her features.

He nods as he looks at his drink. He stares only a moment as he tilts the glass within his hand around before bringing it up to his mouth. "Fuck 'em.... " he starts to take a sip. "You deserve better..." He says into his glass before downing the drink the rest of the way. The tone is somewhat sad. He sets the glass down and continues. "...weight of a negative item will poison the individual regardless for the reason of keeping the weight.... " he looked at Rennia as he spoke this before looking down to his glass once more.
"There is always a balance to this life... death is the balance for the over indulged life... revenge for the over oppressed.... and companionship for the over neglected and forgotten..." He laughs to himself as he looks up with his glass in hand, giving a soft smile to the waitress and nodding.
"I already had my life balanced out for my growing up with excess...." He smiles and nods his head politely as the waitress gives him a new drink. "However I'm only a heartbeat in the life of the world.... you have suffered too long...it is his loss" He looks into his new drink as he brings it up to his mouth. "Sorry.... You can call me an asshole now...." he looks up at Rennia "...my tongue loosens with time...." He takes a sip while he still looks at her, seemingly sorry for his little rant.

Rennia chuckled and shook her head as she listened to the man talk. Occasionally she would take a pull of that whiskey as she waited for him to finish speaking. When he finally did Rennia gave another soft chuckle.
"So much for enough on that topic hm? Not to go into details, as it really is... none of your business, but it wasn't exactly something that was done by choice. It's simply that they are currently not in a position to be here currently." She gave a shrug at that. "You also seem to misunderstand oh so much. It does not weigh me down, it is simply that I miss the times I enjoyed with her. Yes, her. Not him. Lastly, it's cute that you presume to know how to teach me about life and death. I know a great deal about life and death, as one of my age naturally would."
"You're right, Mister Helviath, your life will play out long before I expire due to old age, assuming I ever make it that far. That's just how life is. I've very much accepted that I may or may never see her again, but that does not stop me from remembering the good times no? Fact is I just haven't felt like putting myself out there. No real reason to. Don't bother feeding me that bullshit about someone somewhere would be perfectly fine living with a daemoness who does questionable things. I know all about it. Sure, there probably is. I just don't care to look. As I said...." She would lean back in her chair as she gazed at the man intently.
"There's a reason I don't make it known very often." Kristen would give a soft smile, obviously approving of how Rennia handled herself in the situation.
