This had been the first time that Red had visited the continent of Oceania, Australia to be more specific. With the northern hemisphere falling into its cold fall climate, she had found the country a break from the freezing cold, just beginning to enter into their warm spring weather. And so to cool down in the warmth, most people would have been out swimming at this time. However Red always chose to swim in the evening, as to keep from being spotted with her dragon Ancaladar.
The last thing she needed was for some human to discover the fact that dragons were real, as much as she wanted to prove this to humanity. She just couldn't help but feel that they would overreact, and try to kill her companion in fear, even though he would mean no harm to them. It was a tough life of the draconian. Red was beginning to know how it felt to be one of the other non human races, trying to live in harmony with the more numerous species, without giving away what they truly were. And as much as she wanted to befriend these races, she couldn't help but see the challenge in doing so. Without her dragon, she would most likely be seen as another human, the only way of disproving this theory being to show off Ancaladar. And in the city, this just wasn't possible, due to his size.
Paddling toward shore to take a break, Red had set up a small encampment on the beach, far enough from the waters while being on the beach still, so that the rising tide would not sweep away her belongings. She had found many places would frown on camping on the beach, but she had found a town that would accept such a practice. And so as she returned to shore for a break, she returned to her tent, wrapping herself up in a towel, and preparing a small fire pit to cook her meal on.

Kyrian sighed happily from where he lay beneath his beach umbrella. Today was a wonderful day to come to the sandy shores of relaxations, except there was no relaxation part. It had been quite a loud, busy day, full of annoying children and their almost-as-annoying mothers yelling at the tops of their respective lungs while the dads filled the air with the smell of burned meat. But now was the time when everything was perfect, in Kyrian's opinion. While most people liked to come play at the beach in the sun, the elemental found everything to be much more enjoyable in the silence of the night.
The male groaned a little as he sat up, stiff from lying still for so long, and looked about to see a nearly emptied beach. Now that he could finally hear the waves lapping against the shore, he felt as though he could truly enjoy himself. And in the dusk, most beings would have a much harder time spotting the male without some form of visual aid, so he was practically free to do as he wished.
Then a light appeared.
Further down on the beach to his left, a small fire was lit, most likely for cooking or staying warm in the cool night. Over the pit leaned a female, striking in appearance. Her slender frame carefully tended to the fire as its light was reflect in her hair, making a beautiful scene as though her hair was made of living flames. Kyrian had always had a thing for redheads.
However, tonight was not for girls; especially not ones who couldn't have been a day over 20. The elemental yawned as he stretched out then stood, lifting his right leg slowly, with bent knee, until his knee reached chest height. The male then leaned his torso back a little as he unfolded his leg until his well-muscled legs almost formed a straight line rising up from the ground. The male then lowered his right leg back down and stretched his chest and back muscles, getting ready for a little nighttime swimming.
He dusted the sand off of his black swim trunks with purple floral designs on them and checked beneath his beach towel to make sure that his katana was safe before walking down to the water and wading in until he was waist deep. The male turned around and looked back at the girl from earlier, wondering if she would be a bother to him; though she appeared to be a more subtle person.

Pulling a couple of containers out from one of her bags, she popped one of them open, grabbing a fork from her bag before proceeding to eat the cold contents from within. Looking upward, she then saw the figure, striding across the beach and toward the water. She was a bit surprised about seeing another person out so late at night, as normally she was the only one to stay out at the beach for so late, and that was only to spend time with Ancaladar.
It was then she wondered whether or not the dragon would be able to tell her apart from the stranger, as she was supposed to return to the water at this point. Hopefully he wouldn't mistake him for her, and reveal himself from the surface of the water. "Maybe I should go warn him..." she thought to herself, a little concerned. Though she couldn't help but wonder why he was out this late. Perhaps he was just someone who preferred the starry skies and quiet beach, over the loud rambunctious children that littered the area during the daytime.
Carefully, she continued to watch him from a distance, the camp fire before her crackling loudly, offering the seemingly fragile girl some form of warmth against the cooling night. She would have imagined that the nights would have been warm as well, but being near the beach seemed to offer some sort of cooling to the air, which blew through the area gently, making this an almost perfect night for those that remained out in it.

The male chuckled a little as he floated on his back in the waters, the gentle rise and fall of the waves keeping him at a nearly consistent distance from the shore. What had amused him was seeing the girl from earlier eat something from a container which she had not heated up. Either the fire was simply for keeping her warm, or it served another purpose. Maybe it was a signal for someone who she was supposed to be meeting up with at the beach. But who would meet at the beach at night? Quite weird.
The elemental twisted his body around in the water and began to practice his butterfly stroke, his weakest form. While swimming out, he felt the water flow beneath his body like a current, or a something large swimming beneath him. It seemed as though it were the later since the water flow ended practically as soon as it started. It was drag from some large beast going beneath Kyrian's body.
The elemental, always one to opt out when he had no clue as to what he was dealing with, jerked his body back around and began to swim swiftly towards the beach so that he may have a possible advantage against whatever this thing was.

Cleaning off about half of her meal, she watched as the male suddenly started swimming toward shore, feeling her heart racing a bit at the fear of being caught. She set down her things, getting back up to her feet as she began to walk toward shore. Perhaps if she acted oblivious, he wouldn't assume that she was somehow behind what was going on out there. How could her dragon have been spotted though? There was no break in the surface of the water to give him away. She couldn't take the risk though.
And so as the stranger made his way toward shore, she approached him cautiously. "Are you alright? You look a little bothered." she started, a look of concern on her face. He had definitely seen something, so she had to make sure to dispel his worries. It was then that she turned to look to the waters with concern on her face. "...Is there a shark out there?" she questioned, rubbing her shoulders with opposite hands. Sharks were a possible danger while swimming out in the waters, so it could be possible that he mistook her draconic companion for another aquatic predator instead. Though if that were the case, he would have likely been attacked by now, only adding to her worries.
Glancing back at the man, her emerald green eyes showed curiousity and question. They were hard to see in the dark, but the slight flicker of light from her camp fire was enough to show a feint flicker of light in her eyes.

Kyrian looked up into the female's green eyes, noticing that one was a bit darker than the other. Up close she was even more beautiful than he had thought earlier. He could honestly get lost in eyes like those, and not want to get back out.
Thinking about something the female had said earlier made him feel like a complete idiot. 'Is there a shark out there?' How come he hadn't thought of something so simple. It probably was just a shark patrolling the waters in hopes of some tasty treat. He let what was in his mind escape through his lips absently. "Yeah... I'm not used to sharks..." His slight Texan drawl rising up in his worried state.
The elemental glanced back over the waters, wondering if it had been just a shark.

Good, he hadn't seen the cause of the disturbance. This meant that her identity wouldn't be compromised by a simple misunderstanding. "Well I guess I'm not going in any time soon..." Red sighed, a small frown on her face. "To be honest, I was about to go do a bit of swimming after I finished my meal, but it looks like I'll be waiting for another night." With that, she suddenly turned to face him once more, and gave him a small smile. Red was the more optimistic kind of person, always trying to find a bright side to a bad situation. And the smile on her face said it all.
"Anyway, my name is Red. I thought I'd never see another person enjoy night time swimming." she introduced, blushing ever so slightly as she found him staring into her eyes. She had received compliments before on her looks, but they never really led to anything. She wasn't the kind of girl to sleep around anyway. Remembering that she had leftovers still, she widened her smile a little. "If you're hungry, I've got extra food. I don't mind sharing with someone." she offered. Red didn't know how long he had been out here for, and judging by his minimal set up, he probably hadn't eaten anything since swimming.
