Rae was use to spinning secrets and lies, and the best and most easy of these to maintain was the ones given based on truth. Her name; most simply – Maria Jenkins – was not her own. It was given to her when she was trapped by a daemon, given to her by another mortal – a scientist who she seemed to keep crossing paths with since. It had attacked as a code name then and this seemed like a tradition she was willing to continue.
Of course, the Chicago thing was actually the truth; but when one spins so many lies its often more difficult to remember where the truth ends and the lie begins. She had moved, in fact her whole family had up-sticks and moved out of London, out of their fabulous home in Chelsea, and were forced to live in a roach ridden ninth story apartment in downtown Chicago. They had moved in with her Uncle, for protections- ha, some protection he had been.
"Oh good, seems we will be seeing a bit of each other today then. I'm going to be here for a while. I'm good friends with the owners."
“Oh?” She smiled though inside she was not thinking happy thoughts; still maybe this would provide a greater opportunity for her. “Do you know Christophe then?” She asked him. “The man I am meeting here today, he is a big hairy French guy…” She left her question open, not wanting to give out much more information about her contact if Kaarme did in fact not know him.
Christophe was in ‘The Casefile’, though her father codenamed him ‘The Frog’, he spoke of a bold and brave man with a hearty sense of humour but a mean ass temper. Her father also spoke of him being something of a king of Martial Arts and Rae was a willing student. It was time for her to learn a little better defence of herself.

Reaching up he scratched his cheek at her question, thinking for a second before smiling and answering her. "Yeah, I think iv met him once or twice. Is he a friend of yours?" Reaching into his pocket he pulls out 6 hair ties, slipping them over his wrist he grabs his hair and quickly ties it all down. Standing up he looks inside before looking back at her. "lets go inside, if you are meeting him here then why not get out of this sun."
He walks inside and towards the back of the room to a small coffee table and some seats. Throwing his bag ahead of him it lands on the couch and bounces before settling. He had nothing breakable in it or important documents so he didn't really care. Walking to the lockers he opens the one he uses and pulls out his fist and feet wraps along with some training gloves and shin guards. Closing the locker he walks over to the seat next to his bag and tosses her the gloves and shin guards. "If you came all the way here to meet him then you must be wanting to train correct?"

Is he a friend of yours?
The correct answer here was no, Rae had never met Christophe, but she had read about him in her father’s case file. He was a bold and hair Frenchman code-named ‘The Frog’. It was be awkward for her to agree that he was her friend because, should this man truly be inside the building then he would not know Rae and would not be able to clarify the story. This was becoming a difficult situation.
Rae hesitated, and shrugged a little; “He knew my father.” It seemed the safest of bets and her reply rang with some essence of truth.
Then he suggested they go inside.
She truly had no choice now, following him into the gym. Her eyes darted around her anxiously as she took in all of the entrances, the exits, the desks and lockers and the general lay-out of the place. It was something of a forced habit she had long ago picked up. She’d been in too many sticky situations not to learn these sorts of things. Eli, Rae felt sad to admit, had remained outside. She had battled with him to tie him up to a post outside, her companion was acting very strangely…perhaps without his distraction she could find more out about her newest companion.
She just stood and waited as he opened a locker and went through something of a ritual.

Placing the gloves and shin guard on the coffee table in front of her he sets down the wrappings on the table and grabs his bag. Unzipping it he opens it up and reaches in, pulling the pair of shorts he has out from the bottom of the bag under his whip. Quickly zipping it up he pushes it back on the couch and stands up fully. Looking at her he smiled and says "Then lets see what you can do, this will be fun." Turning he took a few steps and pulled open a curtain to reveal a small changing room. "You can get changed in here and you can put your stuff next to mine on the couch, no one will mess with it there."
Stepping over to the next room he slips past the curtain and pulls it shut before quickly getting undressed and slipping on the shorts. Tying off the shorts he grabs his clothes and folds them quickly before carrying them out along with his shoes and sets them on the couch. Sitting down he quietly grabs the wrappings and starts wrapping his shins, feet and hands with them as he waited for her.

Then lets see what you can do, this will be fun
Rae’s stomach dropped a little as he said that. Would it? Really? For the first time in a while the familiar and insecure feeling she often felt rose up inside her. Her eyes followed his gaze to the small changing room and she felt her stomach drop another ten feet. He was serious about this…he wanted to train with her? Her defences went up, but she simply nodded as he stepped into one of the curtained rooms.
Changed into what, she wondered as she looked down at her denim shorts and golden sandals. Rae ran her fingers, subconsciously over the black t-shirt she wore and held her breath, thinking for a moment, considering for a second how badly this could go. She went and stood in the cubicle, pulling the curtain behind her and for a long time she just stood, looking at herself in the cracked mirror.
Rae untied her hair and re-tied it on the top of her head. She took off her sun-glasses and the jewellery she was wearing, unlacing her gladiator sandals and carrying all of this in her hand she stepped back out of the changing room. Her eyes went to him for a small moment before she placed her things, in one of the small lockers.
“I guess I didn’t come prepared...” she said, watching him wrap his skin. “I- I haven’t really done this before…” She added, still very self-conscious of him.
