Ciel worked her way through the city, that need filling her. She had just spent an hour standing over her mother's corpse, a warning to her father. In one day she had already killed two people; her mother and a random worshiper. She would have felt bad for the worshiper for he was innocent, but the fact stood that she couldn't feel much of anything. All she knew was that she had to defend her brother from everyone and everything, though in all honesty it was also that killing made her feel things, it made her happy and excited. She did it for no one but herself if she was completely honest with herself. She continued to walk, thinking about her next victim, a wealthy man in Greece.
It had been so long since she was last in this town, in this country, but she still knew it like the back of her hand, she said a silent prayer to Erebus to keep her hidden within the darkness, and one to Hermes to carry the soul of her victims quickly so that they could not be revived. Like any average everyday psychopath she had her own ticks, praying to the gods she once served was just one of them. The other was the habit of tapping her fingers against the outer part of her thigh.
Her heels made not a noise on the cobblestone beneath them. She was silent as ever, as she slipped into the house of the man. The darkness of the night shielding her from the view of any human, and if someone did find her they would not recognize her, for today her hair was a deep dark blue black, her eyes a lovely spring grass color. She wore a simple body suit with her knives tucked away nice and neat, her bow across her back, and her quarterstaff in her hand. It wasn't as neat as the knives or the bow, but it got the job done none the less. Though this job was asked to be done with poison.
Getting to the man's bed she took out a string, placed it over the males open mouth and let the poison drip down into his throat. She moved away from him staying in a dark corner. She smirks as he wakes up, his throat closed, she'd giggle watching his face turn blue if she didn't know better. No instead she stayed silent watching with the happiest smile on her face. This was entertainment to her. This made her happy. This... this made her sadistic. Once she was sure the man was dead, she slipped back out the window and down into an alley way. The chances of anyone finding him before dawn were slim to none, but she wanted to be out of there just in case.
Greece, the ancient city of Athens. It had been a long while since Thanatos has visited this city. Too long, he learned a lot from the library here and he had spent today reading like he normally does, he borrowed a couple books and left for the night. It was time to do his main job and find who had been killing. Balance needed to be kept and no one else will like he does so he had to do the dirty work his self. Although he wasn't alone, Morrigan was with him as always, resting on his shoulder.
Walking through the streets in his mind he was trying to figure out where they would kill next. There seemed to be no connection, it didnt matter he needs to figure it out and wandering around was his best bet right now.
Walking the back grounds and alleyways he looked at every building and could think of just how to get in. although he looked very suspicious being in a black robe, holding a large scythe and a small white bird on his shoulder he thought to his self, "Humans.. they believe they are safe just because the windows are two stories up.. Sad really.. although, idiocy is bliss." Stopping he swore he could of heard the sound of someone landing on the ground. Curious he walked out of the alley and turned the corner into the next alley. Stopping he saw the woman in front of him.

Ciel brushes her hand through her hair not noticing the person for just a split second while her hair returns to it's normal black color. She stops midway through, her hair staying half dark blue black and half black, she turns to look at the man rather shocked by his appearance. She keeps her hand on her quarter staff, "Who in the nine hells are you?" She asks with a sigh.
She walks closer to the man but also stays a distance away. There is no panic in her expression, just slight surprise. She stretches and watches him closely. Figuring he was supernatural of some kind or another, she finishes her hair, blinking her eyes back to their ice blue. A perfect mirror of her now dead mother.
Ciel leans back against the wall, clicking her tongue a few times. She looks him up and down again, she'd never really met other supernatural creatures, her entire life had been based on her being a human, ignorant of what was going on around her, shocked to learn of the existence of others, as well as what she was. After finding out she tended to avoid the supernatural since she didn't know if what she did was okay or not. After another moment she decides she doesn't want an answer and moves to walk away.
Looking at the woman he could see her hair 2 different colours, realizing hes still in his true form he quickly changes into the form of a man in a business suit. Morrigan had fluttered around but rested back on his shoulder. Looking at the woman he inspected her outfit before speaking. "What am i? A pawn following destinies path. What are you my dear girl?"
Slowly he slipped the scythe into his left hand behind his back and hit it behind the wall. He wasnt usually so reckless but normally no one was out and about this time of night. Nor was the norm a girl with many knives strapped to her body in a skin tight suit. "You do know there is a killer about, yes?"
Her casual act was a odd one due to seeing the real him. Most would run and scream. He could tell she wasn't a ordinary human although what exactly he couldn't tell. Thanatos could guess this is the one doing the killings. He can see it in her eyes for he had the same, although he just had different motives.

Ciel looks him over laughing a bit as his form changes, "I am a Katon." She says smiling, it was hard to tell if she was lying or not. She was just so good at it. She bats her eyelashes at him. Looking around the alley she smiles softly at him, "Are you that killer?" She asks. Still not one ounce of fear in her body.
For some reason fear was an emotion she couldn't fake, all the others came so easily, but not fear. Not even in the face of danger, which she could sense she was in. The tick kicks in and she begins to tap the outside of her thigh. Blue eyes ever on the man in front of, cautious.
Ciel got the feeling this man was looking for her and that he was dangerous and though he made her a little nervous, she seemed to otherwise not care, in fact it looked like she had no idea that he could be a danger to her life at all.
Ciel smiles at him, "Well if there is a killer, and you are not he, I should probably head home. These are not safe streets anymore." She throws a hooded cloak over herself.
The words. "I am Katon", they didn't sound genuine to him so it made him smile. He watched as she bated her eye lashes and smiled softly. When she asked if he was the killer he smiled and said. "No my dear, I am a keeper of balance. I am the one that should be asking if you are the killer though. But it seems as if you aren't the killer" Stepping out from the corner he grabs the scythe with his right hand and watches her.
Watching her he knew she was well built and could probably match him in speed, though strength didn't seem to be her strong suit. "Yes, hurry on home. You wouldn't want to be stuck out here if the killer comes around."
Stepping aside to let her pass he smiled and reached up with his left hand to stroke Morrigan's chest feathers. The soft coo could be heard clearly as the bird closed her eyes trying to rest for the night.

Ciel smiles and nods, "Well then I'll be on my way." She says with a little skip. She continues to move away from him, but looking at the watch on her wrist she sighs. She had a job to get done, and it was already after midnight. She would have to move quickly, and make sure this 'keeper of balance' wasn't following her. She ran, moving rather quickly even for a girl her size.
She gets to the next home, the home of a business man. She looks around, praying to Erebus to once more keep her safe in this time of danger. She slips in through the front door. This was her chance before he left back to Northern America, further then she was willing to go at the moment. She moves quietly up the stairs, breath held. Anticipation coursing through her entire form.
Getting to the man, she covers his mouth with a cloth so he couldn't scream. She smiles as he woke up. She put the pointer finger of her free hand to her lips, telling him to stay quiet. Ciel pulls out a knife, the knife tracing over the inside of his thigh. She whispers something into his ear, before nicking the femoral artery. She stands back as the man bleeds to death, some of his blood on her hands. She brings the blood to her lips and tastes it.
She started running, Thanatos smiled and changed back to his true form. Quickly running after her he stayed far enough back to see her but know she couldn't see him. She lead him straight to a house, she was fast enough to unlock and enter the front door of the home. He stopped running and slowly walked. Morrigan flapped her wings to catch her footing. He complimented her in his head on her agility, she would do well keeping balance if she wasn't killing for fun.
Walking into the house slowly he guessed she went up stairs and he was right. Stepping silently into the room he looked at her and the body of the man. Gripping the scythe with two hands he said "I am sorry but balance must be kept!" before lunging at her, swinging the scythe aiming for her torso his blade if she didn't dodge would cut right through her chest.
At the quick movement Morrigan took off, flying around in a circle behind him she landed on the door and waited patiently.

Ciel noticed him just in time and drops to the floor, once on the floor though she doesn't stop moving. Ciel back springs, landing up right and on her feet. She trades the knife out for her quarterstaff, seeing as the knife was much too close ranged for him having a scythe, "Balance?" She says confused for only a moment.
She sighs and tilts her head, "Maybe we could talk about this?" She says sighing, though there was still no fear, and that made her dangerous, she was not afraid of death. "Talking this out is much more intelligent, and mayhaps, neither of us have to die." She says with a smile.
Ciel was completely logical, she was an artist at her work, but she was also a sociopath. To her the death of one person, for the whole of the good, was right in her eyes. "Why are you here? I thought you were busy looking for a killer?" She says, "If it makes you feel better, I found a killer, and I killed him for you."
This seemed to be the truth of what she believed. Ciel believed what she said with every ounce of her being. She didn't want too fight this man for some reason, more odd to her she didn't want too kill him. This thought made her uncomfortable and she changes position, keeping her eyes on him, and her hands on her quarterstaff.
Missing his strike he let the blade come around, before stepping back. His hand sliding over the wood and grabbing about half way up the hilt of scythe. Setting the but of it on the floor he looked at her when she spoke of talking this out. "Tell me why you kill, this man had done nothing to deserve death. He has not killed in cold blood so why do you."
Morrigan flew back onto his shoulder and cooed as she settled back down. Thanatos watched the girl carefully, he knew she was fast but didn't know she was fast enough to dodge his attack.
The surprise came to him when she asked why he was there. "You are the killer my dear. If you do not give me a good enough excuse as to why you are killing then I will have to end you to restore the balance." Looking over at the body of the man he looked back to the girl before he reached up to lower his hood, exposing his skeletal head.

Ciel looks at him rather shocked as he accuses her of being the killer, "I do not kill in cold blood, I kill because I am told, because this man, he is a sin against my God Hermes... he brings people back from Hades for money. Not even for the good of the realm but for money, if you cannot pay then he will not bring your loved ones back... which is fine with me. I don't believe that anyone should be brought back except for good, and just reasons."
She sighs and shakes her head, she never thought she would be explaining this to anyone, "I am not a killer, I do kill... but I am not a killer. I will say that I enjoy it, it makes me feel things I couldn't feel before... but I only kill people that Hermes asks me too. Though it may be time to start searching for another god." She says with a laugh. She was ranting and that only made her laugh harder. Though this time the sound wasn't nearly as fake, it almost sounded genuine.
She looks the man's face over, "So I am Ciel Valencia D'Morte... no that is not my real name... no I do not remember what my real name is. I don't even remember what my true face is anymore... do you know what I am? I don't." She says with a laugh.
He listened to what she had to say, he was slightly shocked at her saying her god is telling her who to kill. "Who does Hermes ask you to kill? Gods die and new ones arise, this is the cycle of life and death. Even the supposed unkillable can be killed." He could hear the tone in her voice was different when she said she should look for another god. It almost sounded genuine to him.
Looking at her he listened to her, hes heard that before. "I don't even remember what my true face is anymore..." He remembered a shapeshifter told him that a long time ago. "You are a shapeshifter, you change forms as you please, no? My name is Thanatos. Let us leave this place and talk elsewhere. Somewhere safer and more.. Private. The dead do not speak but the walls sometimes have ears.."
Turning he walked down the stairwell and out the front door. Looking around he turned and waiting for her to see if she would follow or not. This was the test to see if she was genuine on talking this out or not.

Ciel looked at him and shrugged, "Those who take souls from his hands, for reasons that are not pure... that's what he tells me." She said with yet another shrug, "Yes... even gods can be killed." She said with a smile. She clicked her tongue at being called a shapeshifter, she laughed it was so simple she couldn't believe she hadn't thought of it before now, "Yes... rather easily now... Become who I want." She smiled remembering the names of one of the gods she had learned about in her childhood named Thanatos. She wondered if this was him.
Ciel looked around and nodded, "Probably for the best." She does in fact follow him, not saying anything, and even putting her quarterstaff on her back. She didn't want to feel like a threat to him.
Instead as she followed him she let her mind wander, what was he, was he the god that she had learned about, finally she got the curiousity built up enough to ask, "So are you the god of death Thanatos, or a different one?"
Looking at her walk towards him he laughed a little when she asked if he was the god of death. Turning he started walking down the street, the scythe was now used as a walking stick more then a weapon. Morrigan sat on his shoulder and slept quietly as he spoke. "Some have called me death, some call me the grim reaper. Although it is just a name. I am neither death nor the grim reaper. I merely serve Varos, goddess of balance. When someone kills to much, the scales of this area are tipped to much in one direction. I kill when it is needed. To either cause Chaos or restore peace."
He remained silent for a few seconds before speaking again. He mindlessly walked them back to the abandoned house he was staying in. "If it is a new god you wish to work for then find what one best suits you. There are many. Pray to one and ask for their blessing and if you have pleased them then they will reveal their selves. For recognition you will get a gift and a mark. This mark shows you are one of theirs. My mark is on my back."
It wasn't long until they arrived at the house. Pushing open the door he stepped inside and looked around, nothing had changed and he knew they were alone completely.

She followed him carefully listening as he spoke. She licked her lips as they were in fact quite dry. "Grim Reaper..." She repeated before shrugging. "Varos, hm... is there a God of Death besides Thanatos?" She asked carefully wording her question. Though there was not to much excitement in her voice.
As the silence fell she hummed low and quietly, still following him step for step. "A God of Death... or a God of the Underworld would probably fit me best I suppose." She said after he finished speaking, "Ooo may I see the one on your back?" She asked as they entered the house.
Feeling no sense of danger, she figured they were either alone or that there was no one there who wanted to hurt her. She stretched, wondering how her brother was doing, that feeling of apathy beginning to fall over her once more though she tried her best to stave it off.
