Closing the door behind her he nodded to her at the question of seeing the mark. Walking into the living room he set the scythe against the wall and gently set morrigan on the arm rest of the leather chair. Taking a step towards her he reached back with his left arm grabbing the cloth on his right shoulder. With one swift movement the upper garment was off his body and hanging in his hand. Turning he faced away from her, his Skeletal figure looked that of a humans but instead of skin it was just bone. Slender then a human due to the lack of organs needed to sustain life for him.
The Shimmering silver cirlce on his shoulder blade, the mark showed he was a dispenser of dues for Varos. "Its not much but to those who know what it means it speaks for its self without me needing to tell them. As for your qustion of the god of death. Rumor has it a son of anubis has taken the throne of death. Although its just rumors if his tales hold true on protecting the dead then you will hear from him soon if you pray to him that is."

Ciel watched him as he moved about the room, seeming to evaluate every one of his moves. She seemed to be growing cold on him once more. She tilted her head at the sight of the mark interested in it. "I see..." She said before looking his body over.
She thought of his body logically, "How do you have children?" She asked bluntly. Her question seemed purely out of a need to know, rather than anything perverse. The name Anubis though struck a bell, "Can you give me his name?" She asked watching him still taking only a brief second to look over the room and find all possible exits, just in case. She had what she could see mentally mapped out in a matter of seconds. She looked up at him and smiled, "I like your mark though." She said continuing to look him over. She circled him taking mental notes, "Do all of your species look like this?"
Watching her circle him and asking the questions he waited until she was finished before deciding to answer. He knew she probably mapped out how to get out of the house if she needed to. We all had our quirks. Listening to her he thought of the answers before speaking. "You don't want to know, No I cannot. It was only a rumor and I know only what I have told you. Thank you, it means a lot to me. I have worked my entire life to get gratitude from her. Yes, although some have taken it upon their selves to alter.. their body.. Sharpening their fingers or implanting horns on their self."
Slipping on the cloth he fixed it so it sat on his body correctly and looked at her, scanning over her body. Hes inspected human anatomy before but each one was different. Odd how humans changed so much from each other. Walking over he slowly sat down in the chair and ran a finger slowly over Morrigan's back. "This is Morrigan by the way. I found her when she was just a new born and hurt. She had all the chances in the world to leave yet she never left my side for very long. Shes my companion on the long trips I take."

She moved over in front of him and sat on the floor taking in everything he was saying. She only laughed when he avoided speaking of how he had children. She shrugged and watches him for a while longer, "She is beautiful." She said letting out a sigh, she wondered how her brother was doing, and the more she thought of him, the more cold and distant she got.
In fact even her eyes turned to an ice blue, her hair going the same way slowly. It was the only give away to how she felt. It was hard to read her eyes or expression, but the traits of the shapeshifter she could barely control moved in their own ways when she was not paying close attention to them. Her mind though stayed on the conversation and she tried to act as happy and lively as she was before. Only someone really good at telling lies from truth would be able to tell.
Looking at the bird then to the shape shifter he noticed her eyes and hair were starting to change colors. He was intrigued as to why until he looked at her eyes and listened to her. It was clear to him she was hiding it, her true self. One that was as cold as the colour of her eyes.
"What started this? The killing. If you don't mind me asking. I can tell you are growing tired of being happy. So why bother keep up the disguise?" Pulling out a small bag of seed from his waist he opened it up and set it down in front of Morrigan, letting her eat while they talked.
"Here is a tidbit of interesting info you may like.. Im 400 years old. Iv killed kings and presidents. Iv ended drug lords and even stopped wars. Your mask is something impressive. Don't be detoured by me knowing you are faking it. Iv just lived far to long." Looking past her out the window he lost his self in thought, thinking of all the years he has spent trying to keep balance.

Ciel looks at him curious to where the question came from and then she had to think back. The first time she ever killed anyone was in defense of her brother, after that it became a ritual for Hermes and Erebus, and in return they gave her money to live off of. "It started because... someone hurt somebody else that I cared... care about a lot. After that... well I was asked to by Hermes, my college roommate was a necromancer, he was going against Hermes, even Erebus didn't like it. They visited me in my dreams, and told me that I had to kill him. So... I did. Since then they continue to ask, I guess they think that my power is useful. Easy not to get caught if no one... not even yourself... knows what you look like."
The second part seemed to stump her, "It is not that I grow tired with being happy... it's simply, I don't know how to be happy. For some reason it doesn't come to me like it comes to other people. I've learned how to fake it... pretty well I think." She says watching the bird. The blue faded only a little, leaving the tips of her hair black. It felt... good, to be able to tell this to someone... anyone.
She licks her lips, trying to get rid of the dry feeling on them, "What about you... do you enjoy being happy? ... Are you happy?" She asked tilting her head.
Listening to her words he sat quietly and stroked morrigan softly. "I see" he said before looking back at her and stopping. Remaining still to her question if he was happy he slowly sat his hand down next to Morrigan as he just looked at the girl in front of him. "Am I happy? Iv never been asked that before.." He sat quietly and thought for a minute before speaking again. "no.. I don't believe I am. Iv lived too long and seen to many things about this world to be happy any more. I am simply remaining here to help keep balance as long as I can before my time is up."
Reaching down next to the chair he pulls a leather sack out, opening it up he slowly reaches in and pulls out a old leather bound tomb. "My happiness died when I started this book.. Like you I sacrificed it to protect someone I loved.. For me it was in vain. You it may be different but that is your story to figure out." Staring at the old tomb he kept his hand on top of it before he slowly opened it. Flipping to the first page the stains of blood and names written above each. He could recall each and every one of them. "I only have fading memories.. To be honest, I cant remember what it feels like to be happy any more.."
Staring at the pages he slowly looked up at her and spoke after a few moments. "You believe you don't know what its like to be happy but it is still in you. Just hidden and covered by the darkness."

Ciel thought on his words for a long time, "I can't feel happy... I'm not sure it's there anymore... I don't know if it was ever there, but that's okay... so long as I protect my brother then I have a reason to live." She said, once more talking about her brother brought back that uncaring aura, that tail tale sign that something was seriously wrong with this girls mind.
She sat for a while watching him and his book, "Maybe you need someone new to make you happy... Maybe I could learn about balance from you?" She asked, wondering curiousity in her eyes. He made her feel not so detached, and not so much like the psychopath that she always felt she was. How else could you explain her obsession with death, and her need, almost addictive need to seeing it, feeling it, and being around it. She had no want to kill him... no need at all.
He could tell her brother was the trigger for all of this. She did it to protect him. "Im sure its there. There was a glimpse of it earlier in your eyes." He knew she was damaged, she didn't know better was all. She was never taught right and wrong of this part of the world.
Listening to her he looked at her when she spoke of learning balance from him. Seeing the curiosity in her eyes he could tell she was being honest. "Maybe, Though Morrigan does make me what most would call happy. although I may not have true happiness there are things that make each day better then sitting and contemplating the world. If you really wish to learn about Balance from me then read this book. You will recognize names for they are in the history of this world. Tell me why I killed each and every one of them." Closing the book he picked it up, leaning forward he handed it to her.

Ciel smiles at him as he speaks, but it wasn't that genuine smile from before. She listened to him speak, she felt he knew more then she had told him, and that concerned her. She ran her fingers over the book as she took it, "You want me to tell you why... you killed every one of them? It was in the name of balance wasn't it?" She asked opening the book and looking through the pages. Something clicked in her mind, her brother had, had a book like this, though his was different. Her brother had been a priest of Thanatos before getting ill. He had a book written in the blood of every dead body that came into his temple.
She closed her eyes for a moment trying to gain control of her thoughts, and where they had been going. They were moving toward a closed off part of her mind, a part that for some reason she actually feared opening up. She holds her breath for a moment, and the tracks her mind had been taking was obvious to someone as old as Thanatos. She stared at the book as if she were terrified of it. Her heart beating at a mile a second. She looked over the first name, trying to ignore the feeling she had in her stomach and heart.
He watched her every movement as she took the book. "It was but do you understand why balance is needed?" Going silent he watched her. He saw the look of fear in her eyes and it was if she didn't want to touch the book. He just sat there watching her.
He wondered what was going through her mind, he didn't want to disturb her until he needed to. He wanted to watch and see what happens, what they both learn from this is the most important thing. He needed to know how far he could push her and how much he could find out, otherwise tip toeing around her he will not her any where with trying to teach her his ways.
After a few minutes he spoke up to her. "Explain to me why Hitler had to die. Why he could not continue to live as long as he did in this world."

His words broke her concentration on the book for a moment, instinct tended to take over for a moment as she went to Hitler's name in the book, upon finding it she chewed on her lip trying to remember everything she learned about him in school. She sighed, "He was a major evil in the world... he killed to many people, trapped many others, and..." Her voice stops for a moment, when she realized she was just repeating what she learned she shakes her head, digging deep down for any memory of good vs. bad. "He was one of the most evil, cruel, and heartless killers ever known... he believed his cause was good, and he did in fact have some good ideas, but he was much to insane to carry them out without killing millions of people, trapping and mentally harming other people. He had to die or the world would have suffered, the world in and of itself would have turned to an evil place... there would be no more good left..." Her voice sounded a little panicked toward the end.
Ciel closed the book for a moment sighing, that rush of emotion felt so odd, but then... his job dealt with death, as well as an odd sense of justice, it made her feel something odd in her chest though she still avoided eye contact with the book. She would push the memory to the back of her mind, wait until Thanatos was no longer around to go through it.
Nodding he listened to her and watched her. He knew she understood the concept of good and evil. She just needed to learn who exactly in this world is evil other then what she hears on the media or from her dreams. "Good, you understand it. There has to be balance or this world will fall.
Watching her close the book he reached down and patted her head. "Take your time, it took me 400 years to get where I am now. I do not expect you to get here after reading a few pages. I will teach you my ways if you are this serious about learning."
He thought quietly to his self about where he would have to go next, he would surely take her with if she wanted to learn. He had to do his usual routine and ask around the town tomorrow for any rumors.

She leaned into the patting closing her eyes and sighing, "Alright... I want to learn Thanatos. I really do." She looked down at the book, her heart skipping a beat. "... But also... I'd like to stay with you because you help me feel something." She said. She leaned back looking up at him and his bird smiling at them both, an almost genuine smile on her lips. She then fell back into a laying position on the floor.
Ciel chewed on her lip deep in thought, "So how can you tell good from evil Thanatos..." She said looking up at the ceiling. Then she closed her eyes listening and waiting. Her breath even and calm. Her thoughts on going to go visit her brother. She hadn't wanted to see him when she came here, but it was hard not to, with their house being not to far from here. She wondered if it was a good idea or not.
He watched her lay back. Leaning back in his own seat he thought for a second before speaking. "Balance is neither good nor evil, you have to be neutral in order to keep balance. You must cause chaos where there is none and kill the chaos when there is to much. This is the balancing act that takes years to learn because one slip up and you will throw the area out of balance. I am glad you wish to accompany me, I would rather teach people my ways then kill them but that cannot happen for every one."
Closing his own eyes he lost his self in thought, after a minute of silence from him he spoke out to her. "I will pick a number of town and I want you to chose one to go to next. We will gather you supplies tomorrow. Is there any thing you need here?"
