Cag bought several of the more normal sandwiches and a small bag to put them in. He also bought a bottle of water for the girl and then placed everything in the bag together. He glanced back at Stilia and winked, then turned around and handed the bag to Cinnel. "Here you go dear. This should be enough for the time. It shouldn't be that far away to find the sphinx after all." The merchant who sold the the goods leaned closer towards them after the word sphinx and Cag glared hard at him. He jerked back and away and pretend to be doing something.
Cag sighed and walked towards Stilia, and nodded. "Alright, we are all set to go finally. So, any clues as to which way we should head? It is a big area, and we don't want to get lost. Also our powers won't do us much good close to the city, though we can use them more and more the farther away we get. I just don't want some people running after use with pitch forks and torches, if you get my meaning." He laughed and looked between the two women, hoping they where going to start getting long better.

When the breeze blew, relieving Stilia of some of the heat from the hot desert, she pulled at her hair. She didn’t like it when a draft of wind would send it wiping around, moving as if it had a mind of it’s own. It made her feel like she had snakes on her head, which although was a lovely thing, made her paranoid that she had accidently shifted even with all these people here. She tried to pull it back, before giving up and just letting it go. She was going to be shifting soon anyways, so there was no point.
She waited with limited patience as the crying girl and Ca’guuror bought some food, hoping they had enough. She didn’t want the girl to scarf it all down and then have to rely on their supplies. She listened as well, and resisted the urge to walk over and knock Ca’guuror on the head for mentioning their hunt for the Sphinx with the merchant right there.
She didn’t need to, as they finished up and they walked over to her. Ca’guuror began talking, and she waited for him to finish. Once he did, she made her hand into a fist and knocked the top of his head like she was trying to smash it like an egg. “You really need to learn to watch your mouth. As for your questions, I suggest we search for signs. Obviously the Sphinx is located near town, if it has been attacking here. Maybe we should look at a map, try and find caves or other possible spots? What do we even know about Sphinxes?”
The male Ungrith'tar was hunting. This was nothing new for him, as he was usually hunting some monster or another. He seemed to have a knack for it, and he enjoyed it as well so he continued to do it. This particular creature was one he was actually familiar with. Not personally, but he had heard a lot about it and done a little research upon it before attempting this hunt this time around. Dressed in his typical leather cuirass and roman style leather skirt to make himself 'decent' to the more 'modern' races, his two hand axes rested upon his hips and his two handed war axe strapped upon his back. It had been night time as he trudged across the desert sands. He remembered another time he had trudged through the sands of the Gobi desert as well.
The sun was upon the horizon, slowly rising and casting it's light across the town before him. Walking in to it, he got few whispers and stares, most people minding their own business and continuing what they had been doing before. Extremely unusual, given the eight foot eleven inch tall minotaur walking amidst them. He spotted two who looked suspicious in the crowd, huddled against each other and whispering. He walked towards them and could quite clearly hear the female saying "You really need to learn to watch your mouth. As for your questions, I suggest we search for signs. Obviously the Sphinx is located near town, if it has been attacking here. Maybe we should look at a map, try and find caves or other possible spots? What do we even know about Sphinxes?"
Smiling, the Ungrith'tar walked right up to the two and looked down upon them. "Well, I know quite a decent amount about Sphinxes, as I have done my research this time around instead of fumbling blindly in the dark for my quarry." He chuckled, a deep rumbling noise from deep with in his chest that seemed to shake the very air around them. Or was that a mirage caused by the heat of the quickly raising sun?
Cag jumped when he heard large heavy footsteps coming directly towards them and promptly whipped around, stepping slightly so he was standing directly in front of Stilia as he looked UP at the minotaur towering over them and blinked slowly. The creature was huge, with four enormous horns that could gore him in a heart beat. He licked his lips, suddenly nervous as this creature could probably rip him in half with his bare hands. He reached behind himself, grabbing Stilia's hand and squeezing it tightly for some reassurance.
Suddenly the creature spoke to them. Yes, it's voice was exceptionally deep and rumbled in his own ears like a gong, but that was easily explained by it's massive size. It spoke of knowing about sphinxes, and had obviously been listening in upon Stilia and himself. Grimacing, Cag glanced back at her and rolled his eyes before speaking himself. "You told me to watch where i was speaking...." He released her hand, slightly irritated at himself that he had grabbed her hand out of reflex and sighed, trying to not think about that as he looked back up the minotaur towering over them. "Well, good sir. Perhaps we can talk as we walk away from this exceptionally crowded area? So we are not over heard anymore."

The rumbling sound of heavy items, being dropped over and over at the pace of footsteps, approached the two, quickly followed by a reaction on Cag’uuror’s part. He seemed quite jumpy, whipping around and grabbing her hand giving it a squeeze as if she needed reassurance. Stilia needed no such thing, as she had come across this race before, but she supposed Cag’uuror was frightened or trying to be kind.
The Minotaur’s deep voice rumbled out a few words, raising her interest a tad higher. It even hurt her ears a tad, the eardrums shaking with the deep bass. She was glad when Cag’uuror’s hand finally let go, freeing her own. She stealthily moved it out of his reaching distance, preferring to not have the incident reoccur. She gave a glare in the shifter’s direction when he reprimanded her for speaking out loud. But she held her tongue, turning her attention back to the large furry beast before them.
“Ba'alzamon, is that you? It is ironic that I come across you in a desert once more. But my friend is right, we should very well move away. I am quite surprised you even wandered with these people about, surely you should know better. Humans do not like difference. But come, we shall speak of the creature privately.” Stilia took a few steps, already trying to herd the group away. It was not wise to stay here, especially considering the looks Ba’alzamon was receiving. A Minotaur among men was even worse than a black sheep.

Ba'alzamon nodded in response to Stilia's proposal to speak else where. Though he did not fear these humans surrounding him, the Ungrith'tar grew annoyed by their constant stares and whipsers. The large creature quickly moved off towards the edge of the city, simply walking away from them all and knowing that Stilia and whoever the other male was would follow him as it was her idea. He continue to 'stomp' through the streets with his great weight and cloven feet. He exited the streets and buildings of the city and began to talk towards the desert and stopped, looking around at the two other beings. He attempted a smile at them, resting his enormous hands upon his hips, and tilted his head causing his massive horns to move ominousy in their faces slightly.
Cag followed the Ungrith'tar out of the town, making sure to keep several feet behind him as well as keeping himself between the creature and Stilia. He did not know this being, nor did he trust it as it so simply appeared out of the blue. How does a minotaur such as this get around with out being locked up almost instantly. He thought about it as they walked and realized, what idiot in their right mind would think about capturing and locking a being of this power and sheer strength up? Only a lunatic, that was for sure. As the huge creature came to a stop Cag did as well, maintaining the several feet distance from himself and the other.
He looked the creature up and down. This male seemed not only physically powerful, but capable as well and intelligent to boot. All together, a very dangerous enemy or a very powerful ally to have upon their side. He looked at Stilia quickly, then back at the Ungrith'tar and nodded. "Alright, what is it you know about the Sphinx, Ba'alzamon is it?"

The great minotaur passed her with the clomps of his loud hooves, headed back to the very edge of the city. At least they would be away from surprised eyes and prying ears, although she made sure to keep distance as she followed the great beast. One never knew when these men and women, despite having been passive so far, might turn on them. They may decide the monster bull on two legs needed to die for their safety, maybe become an angry mob. So she did not want to be associated with it by the humans, at least not at the moment.
They reached an area outside of the alleys, back on the edge between the town and the desert itself. Ba’alzamon turned, his hands on his hips comfortably. She was more used to seeing humans do such a pose, so it briefly quirked up her eyebrow. She did not say anything, and gave a look to Cag’uuror, seeing if he had anything to say. He posed a single question, but the answer would hold a lot of answers for them. Stilia knew only what her beloved books had taught her about this Sphinx creature. Hopefully the minotaur could offer more insight on the matter.
Plus, his large bulk could be of use. Despite a being that would slow them down in their search in the desert, when it came to the fight itself, having a bit of muscle on her side sounded very appealing. She did not know how strong this Sphinx would be, after all.
The Ungrith'tar stood silently watching the two until they both seemed ready to move one with the conversation. When the other male asked the question, the Ungrith'tar smiled. Though this feature upon the face of Ba'alzamon was not a particularly pleasant one, it was none the less a smile. The mighty male slowly squatted down and sat upon the sand. He looked between the female and male and then slowly began to speak.
"I am sure you both have heard stories of the sphinx. Wings of an eagle, attached to the body of a lion, with the human torse and head. Well, many do not know that the are extremely fair creatures, very pleasing to the eyes of almost all mortals. Be careful of this for it belies a strength untold of, and intelligence that is totally uncountable. This is no mere beast, but a intelligent living creature who will fight us back. The riddle thing that is so often told about them is bogus. Yes, they love riddles to keep their intelligence sharp but if you get the riddle correct they are more likely to slay you from behind then allow you to truly pass. These are the traits of the sphinx, guardians of the rumored Shangri-la. Knowing this, shall we all continue upon our hunt of this magnificent being?"
He looked from the two of them, though he already knew that neither would quit this fight that they where both stubborn and hard headed. He could see it in their eyes, and upon their faces as they listened. It was a beautiful thing, knowing he would have people to help him instead of hinder him. He stood up slowly, grinning. "Well then, let us proceed if nobody wants to back out now."
Cag smiled and nodded. This minotaur was well informed indeed. He knew things that many did not, even himself, know about these beasts called Sphinxes. He seemed to know fact from fiction as if he had battled them before. Cag glanced at Stilia to gauge her reaction and smiled. Then he looked back at the towering being before them and nodded smartly. "Alright, sounds good to me. I suppose we had better shove off and get this party started. I am looking for a good fight." He chuckled, shaking his head and flexed his muscles, ready to get going. This was going to be an extremely entertaining fight indeed.
Obviously he could offer diversity, able to shape shift every which way was believable as well as manipulate metal and phase. Stilia beside him, well he knew she was supremely intelligent and quite capable of taking care of her own self though he would of course watch out for her has he had always done since he had meet her. She would always hold a special place in his heart after all. He glanced at her discreetly from the corner of his eye then pretended like nothing had happened as he awaited her response upon the matter before them.

The Minotaur’s face crept into a smile. It was a sight Stilia half-wished she hadn’t seen. It appeared almost grotesque and unnatural. One did not see bulls pulling grins like a human would. It just did not seem to fit it’s face. But Stilia’s outward appearance did not change a bit, she didn’t even blink. She’d seen much worse, and there was no point in informing the Minotaur of her casual observation and possibly inflict his anger. The great hulking creature squatted down to their height, before speaking in his great rumbling voice. Every word was slow, rough, but comprehensible. Stilia listened quite attentively as he shared his information about these species. Stilia had not come across these facts before during her research, and fresh knowledge was always music to her ears. They sounded like creatures after her own heart, filled with intelligence. These beings sounded like quite cunning things- oh how Stilia hoped they would get to converse and not have to resort to violence.
When the bull-man before her asked for confirmation on if they should continue, Stilia nodded surely. There was no point in backing out, and Stilia couldn’t if she wanted to. She had seen drawings of these great creatures, but wished to rest her own green eyes on their magnificence. She knew her thirst for such things would get her killed, but she could not help this obsession. Cag also confirmed his wish to continue, albeit verbally instead of silent agreement such as she had done. She did not see his wandering eye, and merely observed the Minotaur Ba’alzamon. “You seem to know the most about these creatures. If you have any idea where the one we search for might be, I believe you should lead us there.”
Ba'alzamon was pleased to see that both where ready to continue upon this mighty quest, and he turned and began to walk away from the town. He spoke as he walked, large hooves leaving their impressions in the sand as he carried his impressive weight along.
"I know of a plateau nearby. It has several caves hidden around its base. It offers a good view of this entire area and would make a perfect spot for an alpha predator to make its home." He knew this place for he himself had spent several night on one of the smaller caves already. Although a bit cramped it had kept him safe if the large predator should have happen to come by. Bones had been scattered around several on the largest caves. Human bones from the looks of the majority of then. A few animal but mostly human, and all broken in clear signs of strength to mimic or even rival his own. This would be a mighty creature indeed to hunt and slay, and bring him great honor and glory. As he walked he wondered what piece of bone of the beast he would keep as a trophy.
Ca'guuror followed along after the Minotaur, glancing once again at Stilia them back at the minotaur's back. He was curious as to how the great creature knew so much about the creature they where hunting. Perhaps he had hunted one before. Or had some other kind of personal experience with them. He wasn't sure, but now was the one to ask.
"Ba'alzamon, why is it you know south about these creatures? Many wouldn't know even half of what it is you know, with possibly a life time of research. Also, don't take this the wrong way, however arnt minotaurs suppose to be a little dull witted and stupid?" He seriously didnt mean to offend the great being however he really was curious. All he had heard about minotaurs was that they where incredibly strong but rather dull. This magnificent being seemed nothing like the stories and rumors he had heard of them.
