Korina stopped, doubling over gasping for breath. Panting hard she glanced at her arm where her little running computer and music player was strapped. The read out read a flashing 3.2 miles, flashing because she had stopped. What the hell, she thought to herself. A month ago when she had been kicked out of the military she could run five miles in her sleep with out breaking a sweat. Now she couldn't even make five miles. She got winded walking up steps, and occasionally pain in her knees and elbows would almost bring tears to her eyes. Like the pain in her knees now that had stopped her morning exercise for the seventh day in a row.
She stepped out of the running path to elect another runner pass who waved at her and she sat down in the grass, laying back and closing her eyes. She was dressed in black running shorts that stopped mid-thighs on her and outlined her round rear like many of the girls around, a red and white tank top with sports bra beneath it covering her toned, muscled stomach and rather large bosum. She tried to will the pain away in her knees, refusing to concede to it and cry despite it having already won out against her running. Her hair was splayed out wildly in the grass around her, lips moving as she muttered incoherently to herself simply trying to will the pain away. However it was slowly increasing in volume now that she was thinking about it instead of running.

Kyrian was walking along the path, his tight-fit white shirt soaked through with sweat, and his black shorts equally as wet. His breaths came out long and heavy as he struggled to get his breath back, having just finished his... However many miles he had run; he wasn't quite good at keeping up with how far he ran.
Coming around a corner, the elemental saw a woman laying down in the grass off to the side of the path. From a distance she looked beautiful, a great body, hair splayed out in the grass... She looked peaceful and graceful laying there. She was still beautiful as he got closer, but he noticed the pain she was in showing on her face.
Leaving the path, worried about the woman laying in pain, Kyrian walked beside her and crouched down, gently placing his hand upon her shoulder. Though it might seem like a gentle, kindly touch, Kyrian was actually sending some of his energy into the woman's body in order to seek out what was wrong and heal her. While doing that in the background, Kyrian smiled down at her in a friendly manner "Hey there. Are you okay over here? You look to be in pain."
Kyrian's face briefly showed a slightly confused expression that disappeared as swiftly as it appeared, something that pretty much only a truly attentive eye would catch. The energy he had spread into the woman's body had picked up on the source of the problem... But it seemed like it was something that he couldn't fix, strange. Deciding that he would try to figure out the problem later, the elemental settled on trying to get rid of the pain in the woman's body for the moment.
Interested now, and tired from his run, Kyrian sat down in the grass beside her. "Hope you don't mind if I join ya."
Korina jumped almost clean out of her own skin as a hand touched her bare shoulder. Her eyes where a brilliant bluish speckled with brown today and she jerked away from the male instinctively. She sat up quickly sliding away from him as he sat down looking at him. It wasn't anything personal against him. Just...males still made her feel a little uneasy and vulnerable. She did however offer him a warm smile to ease the suddenness of her withdrawal away from his touch and proximity. Her lips parted and she spoke in her soft Hawaiian accent.
"Aloha sir. I don't mind at all. It's a magnificent day for a run and we best not over due ourselves. Or should I say I should over do myself anymore. The pain was just a small cramp." She lied. The lie was ony a white lie...to keep him from prying to much as well as to prevent him being sympathetic and tender as most where bound towards when they knew a beautiful (in their minds) woman was in pain and/or trouble.

Kyrian backed up a little himself as the female reacted so vehemently, putting more distance between them as she seemed keen on doing. It was then that he got a look at her eyes though, as they opened wide in horror, and they were beautiful. Blue with flecks of brown speckles in them. Kyrian had never been entranced by a girl at first glance like this. Her smile was infectious, and the elemental found himself returning it.
Her voice was beautiful as she spoke to him, as she lied to him. Just a small cramp, she said... But Kyrian knew better. It was some form of disease that refused to be healed. He cocked an eyebrow at the female and spoke to her like a parent who knew that their child was lying to them. "It wasn't just a small cramp. There's something seriously wrong with you."
Right afterwards, the elemental extended his hand towards the female, realizing that he forgot to introduce himself first. "My name's Kyrian. Nice to meet you, Miss..." He let the sentence drop off, hoping that she would provide her name.
Korina turned her head to look at the male as he spoke. It wasn't just a small cramp. There's something seriously wrong with you." She glared at him, open mouthed as he said that. How RUDE! This male had only just meet her and was accusing her of having something seriously wrong with her? Never in her life....well maybe a few times....ok quite often had she been offended like this. Especially in the Navy. She had had many rude, crude, and foul things said to her.
She close her mouth, biting back a snippy retort and watched as he extended his hand. She grabbed it and shook it firmly, with a lot more force then was necessary or expect from her rather thin hand. "Nice to meet you I guess. I should be going." She didnt even return her own name and instead stood up, taking several deep breaths she began to jog off the direction she had come from originally. Her legs still hurt but she forced herself to ignore the pain and keep pushing, for they didnt hurt as bad as they had before the male had touched her. She pushed hard, jogging quickly and with a steady pace, chest heaving as she breathed heavily.

Kyrian saw the female glare at him. She opened her mouth as though she was going to say something back at him, and it wasn't going to be anything nice judging from her expression. However, she seemed to hold herself back as she reached out and shook his hand with a surprising grip for a female. She replied kindly enough and got up, beginning to jog off.
The elemental stood up as well and sighed, watching her jog off. He knew that if he were to go after her, it would look weird and she probably wouldn't even give him a chance to explain himself. But he also knew that it was what he had to do, and what he was going to do regardless.
The elemental stood up and, after glancing around to make sure nobody was watching, teleported to a spot a few feet behind the female. From his arrival to the new spot, the male began to jog and slightly faster speed in order to level off with her. "Hey... I don't know how you took what I said, but I didn't mean to offend you. If you give me a sec, I'd like to explain myself." He normally wouldn't care if a female walked away from him who he didn't even know, but this woman was in pain. And he wanted to figure out what was wrong, and help her.
Korina ignored the fact the male had caught up with her so quickly. So he was fast, so what? She continued to jog towards home then when he spoke she stopped jogging suddenly and looked at him, crossing her arms over her chest."Well, I'm waiting for your explanation?" Was she mad. Definitely. Was she pissed off and wishing she had her assault rifle to shove up his rear and teach him manners? Maybe a little. However mostly what she was...well it was self conscious now.
Was there something wrong with her? Was she ugly or not very pretty? She had never really been vain before, knowing she had a natural beauty but never really flaunting it over others. She cared little for 'primping' and very simple make up was ever worn with her hair usually pulled back in to a ponytail or bun, or simply left free with a brush run through it quickly. However he had clearly stated something was wrong with her....what could it possibly be?

Kyrian sighed in relief when the woman stopped and he stopped beside her. He wasn't sure how to tell her that he knew she was suffering from something, especially when she didn't seem to know about it herself. While healing her, he had confirmed that she was a human. Humans, Draconians, and Elementals all had the same anatomy, and she didn't seem to be either of the former. So telling her that he had sent a bit of his energy into her body in order to heal her and discovered some unknown disease would be a very unfavorable option... However, he saw no other reasonable alternative. Oh well.
"What I meant to say is that you're sick. The pain in your joints, your shortness of breath... You're suffering from some sort of disease that I've never seen before," the elemental explained, not noticing that the contact on his left eye had fallen off, exposing his amethyst colored hues on that eye. He tried to smile in a reassuring way, knowing that he had probably dropped something heavy on her. "I'm sure it's just something that I've never dealt with before. Nothing too menacing." He knew that he shouldn't lie about it, especially not about something that refused to be healed. And yet, he couldn't let a seemingly innocent beauty go around scared that she had some uncurable didease. He would feel horrible for scaring her like that.
Suddenly, a loud gurgling noise erupted from Kyrian's stomach and the elemental smiled, a bit embarrassed. "Sorry... I haven't eaten yet today."

Korina stared at him in anger. She was livid with him as he spoke to her. Her entire body was tensed up, clearly visible in her bare arms and legs. How dare he, whoever this 'Kyrian' might be. He had no right to speak to her in such a way! Pretending to know something he shouldn't know. She didn't even care that his left eye had seemed to change colors. Then, as suddenly as his words had brought upon the anger to her she seemed to collapse in upon herself, body literally going limp like a under watered plant and she cast her eyes down upon the pavement beneath their shoes. Her lips parted and she sighed before whispering.
"Yea...I know. Its been getting worse and worse for almost a month now. Was hoping it was simply a side effect from my miscarriage. Now, I know it isn't something anywhere near that simple. I have made an appointment with a doctor in New York for next week and will be seeing him. Apparently, he is some sort of specialist and is going to fix me up all better. So there is no need to worry." She smiled, fully sure that whoever this doctor was would fix this. After all, that is what doctors did. Fix things, as their job. If they where not good at it, well then they wouldn't have a job for very long so of course they where good at it. So there was no doubt in her mind that this doctor would be the answer.
However her thoughts and words where distracted from a loud rumbling produced by the male's stomach which promptly elicited a giggle from between her lips, to which she quickly lifted a hand and covered her mouth with it trying to hide the smile and further giggles from the man. Almost a whole minute passed till she gained control of her vocals and lips and finally dropped her hand. "Well silly, why don't we go get something to eat. I should eat as well after all. Working hard and stuff like today demands a source of energy right. Gotta keep our bodies fine tuned and running smooth like an engine else wise we shall stall out." She glanced around then smiled. "I know a good diner nearby. Sell all kinds of scrumptious things there. I'll pay."

Kyrian was worried when the female seemed to get even angrier at him, then she suddenly just seemed to give out. He wanted to catch her and hold her, to comfort this broken beauty, but he decided not to because of how she had been reacting to him so far. She spoke to him, and he listened. He listened, and cared. The poor woman had a miscarriage, and thought her sickness had stemmed from there at first, but know realized that she didn't know. So she was seeing a doctor in New York next week.
Kyrian smiled, nodding his head at what she said. He hoped that the doctor would be able to help her with whatever was ailing her. When she began giggling at his stomach growling, Kyrian began to chuckle as well. Her laugh was as beautiful as her face, and quite infectious. It lasted for a while, but she finally recovered and actually suggested that they go eat. She even offered to pay.
Kyrian smiled at her and waved his hand dismissively at her. "No. No, I'll pay. However, I don't buy food for girls if I don't know their names..." He then motioned for her to take the lead, "Ladies first."
She giggled at his attempt to retrieve her name yet again. This time she didnt attempt to dodge it. "Well, I'm not entirely sure you deserve my name just yet. I don't give it out for just anything you know. Especially to strapping young men such as yourself appearing out of nowhere to rescue damsels in distress." She smiled sweetly at him, hen wake ahead of him and swaying her hips flamboyantly before tossing her hair and looking over her shoulder to throw a wink his way. She held that pose momentarily then burst out laughing.
She waited for him to catch up and laughed more, slipping her arm through his. "Escort a lady there, Sir Kyrian?" She giggled and pointed at the dinner as they rounded a corner and the old school building came in to view, exactly out of the nineteen eighties.

The female once more didn't give Kyrian her name, though this time it was in a friendly manner. After something about strapping young men and damsels in distress, which left Kyrian wondering if she was trying to be flirtatious, she began walking away, purposefully swaying her hips. The elemental watched, entranced by her movements, until she looked back and winked at him. Kyrian smiled and began walking to catch up with her.
Once level with the female, she slipped her arm through his and asked for her to escort him there. He smiled down at her, "How could I refuse, m'lady?" And as they walked, she pointed out the diner to him. Nearing the establishment, Kyrian could smell bacon and waffle batter at the door and his mouth began to water slightly in anticipation.
Stepping into the door, the elemental told the waitress at the front that it would just be a table for two, and they were guided to their seats. Sitting across the table from the female, Kyrian tried his best to study her secretly. He had no idea why, but he felt drawn to her.
Korina walked in still with her arm through the male's which attracted several stares of the men around them. She ignored the men, for she knew them. People who lived around her and had made multiple passes at her for dating, or simply sexual intercourse. All of whom she had rejected instantly. Anger filled their faces at seeing another, strange male all over her or her all over and they whispered as they passed. Korina sat across from Kyrian and smiled up at their serving girl.
"Hey Betsy. I want one of those delicious steaks Al just got in sweetie. Medium rare, eggs over easy, and those marvelous hash browns. Just orange juice and water to drink please." She glanced across the table at Kyrian and smiled at him. "Anything at all dear...I know Betsy and Al exceptionally well." She waited for Kyrian to order and waved at another serving girl and the huge black cook dressed in his apron and hat occassionaly seen through the window.

Kyrian raised an eyebrow in interest at the female's order. A medium rare steak, eggs over easy, and hash browns? He certainly never knew a girl to eat like that. Then again, with constantly moving all over the world in search of his father, he never had much time for girls after his junior year of high school. Whatever.
The female smiled at Kyrian and informed him to order whatever he wanted. He returned the smile and spoke back to the woman he had met jogging, "Of course I can get whatever I want. I'm paying, after all." The smile still on his face, the elemental turned to the waitress and spoke to her, "I'll have two scrambled eggs, slightly runny, a waffle, three pieces of bacon, some hash browns, and an apple if you have it. Oh yeah, and orange juice for a drink, please?" He hoped that the waitress wouldn't ask why he ordered so much food, since he didn't feel like answering that he needed it since he had powers that used up his energy so fast.
When the waitress, Betsy, walked off, Kyrian turned his attention once more to the female who had brought him here. "So, Miss-Not-going-to-tell-me-your-name, do you go out running often?"
Koruna returned his raised eyebrow with a playful 'What!?' expression then let him order. As soon as Betsy had walked away, she leaned over and swatted his shoulder gently. "Silly man, I meant you could order anything, even something not on the menu!" She stuck her tongue out at him and laughed. Then he asked we a question and she had to giggle at the whole making fun of her name not being given bit. However she still didnt intend to supply him a name as of yet. Though she would answer his question.
"I run every single day. It's good for me, good PT and way to keep in shape. This sexy body doesn't keep it's shape sitting on the couch all day." She laughed at her own joke then leaned back as their drinks where brought. She thanked Betsy and sipped on the water watching the male over the glass. "What about you Kyrian? Do you work out often? You seem like a man on the move alot. Though, maybe it's just my imagination. Looking for something?" She tilted her head as she gazed upon the male, her free hand rubbing her left knee subconsciously to ease the pain.
