Chaltah looks at Gram carefully, knowing there was more than he was letting on. But she let it slide for now. Why would he have reason to trust her when he was being chased by these "Because you asked" was the answer that was given Gram. Stormchaser returns with chains and begins to wrap the winged man up and proceeds to drag the body over to the stable and hangs him up there so he feet were just off the ground. After that was done she turns back to Gram "It is getting late and the closest town from here is several hours away by car. If you wish you may stay the night here at my house, no one should be out in this rain anyway" and she and her companion turn and make their way back to the house "We will have to wait until your friend wakes before we can figure out what it was all about and get some answers. Do you like tea?"

The woman's reply was slightly puzzling to Gram, but it told him a lot about her. When she offered to let him stay the night, he nearly sighed with relief. Truth be told, Gram had no idea where he was or how he would even begin to start making his way back to civilization.
"I would appreciate that very much. Tea would be nice."
"Once again, my apologies for involving the two of you in my problems," Gram said to her, eyeing the winged man who was now wrapped in chains. "I'm not the wealthiest of individuals, but I do have some money. I would like to compensate you both for your efforts in saving my life and giving me a place to stay for the night."
The next question he asked was phrased rather carefully. "I don't suppose we could talk some? I'm new to all of this-" Gram gestured towards the man with wings, "And I would greatly appreciate if you could answer a few of my questions."

Chaltah waves off the offer to repay them for their act "Payment is not necessary friend. We are happy to help" she sets some water over the fire to warm while Stormchaser started to gather up some dinner for them. She hums softly as she pokes the embers to get the fire to flare up some more before adding another log to it. When Gram asked to talk about the creatures she is silent a moment longer before speaking "I can try to offer you some information since you might need it as one of the group managed to get away." she stands and walks over to a bookshelf and grabs a book "Being a storyteller of sorts my parents wanted me to be knowledgeable about the world and all the people that live in or once lived in it" she sets the book down on the table "This is a book of myths and legends. but within these pages of lore is also a hidden truth, as you just witnessed"

Gram made himself comfortable while trying to decide on what to ask first. He decided to start with the basics.
"How much of it is real? How many species are there? I already know about the daemons and minotaurs, but how many others are there?"
Staring at the book she'd produced, another question came to Gram's mind. It was one that had been troubling him some. If supernatural creatures like minotaurs and daemons were real, then was God? Gram had been a staunch atheist his entire life. His father had taught him that religion was a fairytale that had no place in the mind of an intellectual.
Gram feared the answer to his next question, but he feared the willful ignorance that would result in not asking much more. "Is God real?" Gram asked, glancing upward briefly, careful to keep his voice neutral and his face composed.
For the first time since the group that attacked him had been defeated, Gram felt hungry.
"I'm sorry, but do you have anything to eat? I'm starving."

Chal opens the book and pours through it a moment "Let's see... far as I know, various kinds of Daemon's walk this world, that's not uncommon though. Lore goes back thousands of years talking about such creatures as they walked the lands." she is silent a moment longer as she looked over the book "There are even plant beings and I'd not be surprised if the forests of the world have at least one in each of them." She looks over at him "I can't say just how many of the things are real, i can only tell you of some of the things I know. Like myself and my friend here. I'm a draconian, able to commune with dragons without too much trouble. I could have dragon blood myself but that's a story for another time.
Stormchaser sets a plate of venison and wild onions with a cup of tea as the water was starting to boil down before Gram and Chaltah before he himself sits down to dinner, munching into the meat with relish. Chaltah even took a moment to take a couple bites and a drink before continuing her perusing of the book "Centaurs... large beings crossed between man and horse. Strong and powerful as well as fast and nimble. Gorgons... yes, medusa was real" she says before continuing "So are bigfoot and the abominable snowman"
She pauses as his next question hit her and she looks up "Yes, there is a God. But there are other powers out there as well. Like I myself serve the god of nature, Locutus. He cares for the balance of nature and all that respect that balance." she proceeds to close the book for now and focus on eating

Gram rubbed his chin thoughtfully. The various races of supernaturals sounded, from what the woman had told him, incredibly diverse. He wondered which he should ask about first. This was a rare opportunity and, after tomorrow, it was completely possible that he would never get this chance again. He needed to pace himself.
Just then, he nearly slapped himself. In his mind the entire time, Gram had been thinking of the woman, a draconian apparently, and her dragon companion as just that: the woman and the woman's dragon companion. They'd saved his life and offered him valuable information, at no cost to himself, and Gram had not even bothered to ask their names.
"Where are my manners!" Gram placed his hand on his chest. "I'm Nathaniel Gram, but you two can call me Gram." He smiled and asked "And what are your names?"
After they gave their names, Gram's brow furrowed slightly, remembering what the woman had said about God.
"Other powers? From the way you say it, it sounds as if there are more than one god. How many are there, beside this Locutus Ferox you mentioned?"

"Roman mythology is not entirely untrue." she comments as she looks at him before giving a slight bow in greeting to him "I am Chaltah and my friend here is known as Stormchaser." the dragon in disguise waves in greeting before going back to eating "When Greek and Romans share similar gods there must be something that was true about it." She pauses to think a moment as she tried to think of other deities she had heard about "Well... there's a god of balance, a god of deception, ummm... what else" she taps her fingers on the table as she thought "There's one for love and lust" she says after a lengthy silence "And also one for luck and good fortune" she takes a drink of tea and then glances outside "hmmm wonder if he's awake yet... not likely as I don't hear horses or angry screaming" Stormchaser chuffs before adding "What are we going to do with him after we've questioned him?"

Gram bowed in return. He listened to what Chaltah told him, and nodded slightly. "I suppose that makes sense. Is there a god of scholarly learning or knowledge as well?" He would have to dwell more on this new information about the divine later. But for now, Gram decided to continue his line of questioning about the various types of supernaturals. "I noticed some of the supernaturals in the group that attacked me were manifesting powers. Do all supernaturals have the same powers or are there some powers more typically manifested in specific races?" He asked. Supernatural creatures' magical abilities were of great interest to him.
When Chaltah mentioned their prisoner, Gram glanced in the prisoner's direction before looking back to Chaltah. "Well, my plan was to wait for him to wake up then question him about why he attacked me and the group he was with. They all seemed to be from different races, so there has to be some cause that united them. I'm curious to find out if they were part of a larger group that may trouble me more in the future."
Just then, he could hear commotion signaling that the prisoner had woken up.

Chaltah sits back in her chair "Would not be surprised. I'm not familiar with that one though. May want to look around, you might find something about a god of knowledge" she picks up their plates and goes to the sink "You should eat. You've been talking so much it's getting cold" she says as he asks more about the supernaturals. Leaving the question alone for a now. Far as she knew most supernaturals had their own specific abilities but also shared abilities as well.
The sound in the stable drew their attention and she grabs up a pair of long swords and Stormchaser follows her out the door toward the stable where their 'guest' was being held. "Let's see if we can get some information shall we?" She enters the stable with her companion in tow "Alright mister daemon, you have some explaining to do. And I'd suggest being truthful or we will make your life difficult" she taps the sword against his foot. "Why were you chasing that man earlier?"

Gram immediately dug into his food, scarfing down large portions of venison and onion. He could not remember the last time he'd eaten. It was quite likely he hadn't eaten since his plane ride, because all he could think of from the time he'd arrived was his meeting.
While he ate, Gram ran through the possibilities of who the group that attacked him was. They had attempted to keep him from finding the scroll and, he assumed, were after it themselves. But they hadn't set a meeting with his contact, otherwise they wouldn't have needed to ambush Gram during his meeting. In all likelihood, Gram's contact had been in on the entire thing. It was slightly suspicious that he'd disappeared just as soon as the group appeared. But it was just as likely that the group had merely followed him to the meeting site. After all, Gram hadn't been looking for a tail.
Nodding his agreement, Nathaniel stood up to follow Chaltah to the prisoner to begin the interrogation.
When Chaltah called the winged man a demon and tapped his foot with her sword, the man sneered up at her and spat a glob of blood and mucous at her. "Traitor!" he shouted.
"You ignorant scum. I am an angel, not a daemon, and I demand you release me so that we may slaughter this human!" the angel screamed at her. "All humankind is a threat to us. We swallow our pride and hide among them, but stealing our relics is an unforgivable crime!"
The angel began to work himself up into a fervor, foaming at the mouth slightly, his eyes turned upward toward the sky. "Through the artifacts left to us by our ancestors, we shall achieve transcendance! Any human who would dare to lay hands on such sacred relics is deserving of a fate worse than death! You may have killed my companions but our group is legion! We shall send more and more until even your dragon is overwhelmed! And for betraying supernaturalkind, you two traitors shall suffer the same fate as this accursed human!"

Chaltah looks the angel over a moment as he was screaming and calling her a traitor "First of all, I am not a traitor. I helped a person in need which i would think you being an angel would prefer to do. I don't know what your problem is buddy but I think you need to take a small vacation and clear your mind" she walks around the person hanging there but as she came around her gaze would turn to Gram with a curious gaze "Care to tell me what he's talking about with stolen relics?"
Stormchaser simply stood there in silence watching the hanging angel there in the stable. He would let Chaltah do the talking for now but the guy was more than a little irritating and with the mention of others coming he knew they would have to either depart early or deal with this group.

The angel sneered, contempt clear on his face. "By aiding a human, you have betrayed us all!"
At the mention of stealing relics and Chaltah's question about what the angel was talking about, Gram made sure to keep his face perfectly neutral. Without being too specific about the scroll, he figured he could risk telling her a little bit, not wanting to risk the chance that they would turn on him if he told her what he was after and why.
"Well, as I told you before, I have some money," Gram began. "And recently a rumor began circulating about the location of an ancient African artifact. Occasionally, I collect such works that interest me. This may be the 'relic' he is referring to, although I have yet to actually acquire the thing."
Tapping his chin, Gram added "What concerns me more, is his mention of being a part of a larger group of supernaturals. With the escape of one of his companions, I fear they may return here in force. Leaving the farm would probably be wise, at least for the time being."
Stepping in front of the prisoner, Nathaniel cocked his head to the side and asked "Tell us more about this group you are a part of."

Chaltah looks from Gram to the angel then back with a thoughtful look on her face "what about agreeing to not going after it?' she asks curiously. She didn't really like the thought of leaving her family home but she figured it was a wiser idea. if nothing else lead them away from the place. She shakes her head and looks back to the angel as well as Gram asks the question about the group he was with "I've never seen an angel before but far as I know they are supposed to be protectors of human kind. Heralds of a higher being. Who is it that you answer to, angel" she pulls Gram back away from the bound being, not wanting him to be subject to anything the angel could still do without his hands. "I find it hard to believe that they would want the secrets hidden. Humanity desires to expand through curiosity, I don't know why you would want him to not learn more about this world and what it holds"

"Human scum!" The angel screamed at him, launching a glob of spittle at his face. Expecting such an action, Gram sidestepped it with ease. Seeming not to care, the angel began shouting again "We are the guardians of all supernatural kind! Within our vaults, no sacred relics may come to harm! Give us what is rightfully ours!" The angel began to renew his struggle against the chains, to no avail.
Gram shook his head regretfully when Chaltah suggested he give up his search. "I'm afraid I cannot do that. I've already spent a great sum of money in obtaining this piece and I will not allow a group of fanatics to bully me into giving it up. I do not know the basis of their claim, but I am quite sure that I have every right to own a thing I have rightfully purchased." The opportunity provided to him by the scroll would likely never come across again. No. He would not be abandoning his course.
When Chaltah claimed that angels were supposed to be protectors of human kind, Gram nearly laughed and looked at her in disbelief. "Seriously? From what I know about them, they've managed to fool billions of humans into worshipping a central god who does not even exist! Protect us? They have a history of deceiving human kind."
The young man narrowed his eyes at the angel, who was once more raving about race traitors and human filth. "Besides, it sounds to me as if this one belongs to a mixed group of human-hating supernatural relic hunters. Hardly protectors of my speci-" Just then, the angel interrupted Gram. "Once we have obtained the scroll, we will gain the power to annihilate all of your wretched kind! No longer will we walk in the shadows!"

Chaltah was about ready to call the man a fool for his determination on obtaining the item that seemed to be a big deal with the supernatural races. But with the angels sudden outburst she decided that she'd rather have mankind have it over these fanatical beings that seemed hell bent on destroying the world. She looks to Gram and pulls him back Stormchaser putting a hand on his shoulder "Well... seems there is no way to work out a deal" she turns back to the angel "I am sorry you feel the way you feel but I like the humans, they deserve their place here upon this earth as the rest of us. She looks back to Gram "I believe in the one God. But I also believe that there are agents that do his will. To walk this earth and do as they need to ensure this world remains intact" she looks back to the angel "I am sorry for what I must do. I pray you find peace in your journey" with that she raises her blade and swings with all her might, aiming to sever the angel's head from his body
