The Crusaders of Nysa did not have a very large influence yet. They were beginning to grow in numbers, but they lacked the capacity to protect every village. Currently, they were relatively concentrated in the South, in the jungles, but mainly the plains. They did not have the manpower to protect the Northern villages, nor did they have the resources to go to the desert. Hartnäckig had to focus on strengthening his clan, so that they could help the Anubis in protecting the Desert Portal.
The Faun King Gaghozz had recently sent complaints to Hartnäckig. Some Kasraks had been wandering too close to the Faun city, and one farmer had even been eaten for dinner. The Minotaur sighed. The Faun King wasn’t the brightest man, and the Fauns were more fond of partying then working. They’d had a rudimentary stick wall around the main part of the village, and the rest of the territory unprotected. Hartnäckig had finally convinced Gaghozz to build a stone wall around the main town, and to have the farmers build at least a wooden wall, although preferably also a stone wall, around the surrounding territories and their crops. It was no wonder they attracted creatures, living in those giant ruins, with unprotected crops growing around.
Hartnäckig wrote back to the King, saying he would personally come slay the Kasraks for him. Having his presence would make the King feel ‘special’, and possibly lend a better ear to the Minotaur’s advice. Hartnäckig just arrived into town, having walked (he was too big for a horse). The sun was beginning to set, so the Minotaur headed to the tavern. Considering the Fauns’ love for slacking off, they had a relatively advanced civilization compared to the other races, whom were all still quite primitive, and they brewed a good, strong drink.

Jack hadn't spent much time in Nysa, yet, but he was hoping to change that. The young man was keenly aware of how dangerous the world was but he didn't mind so much. He wandered about, mostly, teleporting home when he was hungry or needed to sleep. Jack had been attempting to be a bit more friendly with the natives, trying to learn the language. He hadn't exactly mastered it just yet. Not even close, really, but the young man had picked up enough to at least get by halfway decently.
The young man approached the village shortly before sunset. Jack paused outside, taking stock of the place. It wasn't too terrible, as he'd seen them come. They had a wall, at least. It seemed pretty sturdy, as faun constructions came. So that was cool. He patted his pockets, hoping they'd take coin in this town. Some of the natives he'd encountered were only willing to trade for goods and those were more of a bother for him to transport.
After making a beeline for the tavern, Jack hoped to slake his thirst with something alcoholic. And while he was at it, inquire about any work the town might need done. Not farm work or anything silly like that, but something a bit more bloody. Like dealing with bandits or some out of control animals. That would be cool.

She has muscles, although they are small. She has brown, long hair. Her hair is almost always pulled into a ponytail so it does not get in the way of her fighting.

She had always wanted to join the Council when she grew up, but with the collapse of it and the creation of the Crusaders, she decided to join it when she was old enough. She had been in the Crusaders reletively small time, but she loved it so far. She heard that her master was in the Faun city to help kill a beast. Nasheeka and Kelseth decided to go help, and meet her leader. They have been traveling weeks now, they could see the city in the distance. They soon reached the city, with Nasheeka finishing her hair. Kelseth sat right outside the gates in case any danger came, while Nasheeka searched for her Tauren master. She asked some fauns, who pointed her in the direction of the pub. The city was nice, compared to the other civilizations of Nysa. She reached the pub and walked in, seeing the giant Tauren seemingly just got there before her. "Sir." She called out to the Tauren.

"Sir!" A female voice called out. Hartnäckig turned to see a human girl looking at him. He signalled for her to come sit next to him at his table, and ordered a drink for her.
"At ease, soldier. Just enjoy a good drink, and let's have some good laughs. Never know if the creature will kill one of us tomorrow." He grinned. It was not a pretty thing, his lips stretching across his snout, and his small eyes crinkling. He took a swing of his drink, as a faun came and set another down before the human girl. "So, what's your name anyhow? You seem a bit young, are you new to my Crusaders?"
Of course, Hartnäckig had noticed the other human, the male one. There weren't that many humans around, although some popped up in the Portal every now and then, which lead to this town, so it was the most likely place to see a non-Nysan if there was one around. So, he didn't really pay attention to him, albeit whoever Jack was asking for work would probably point them to Hartnäckig; many knew he was going on a hunt the next day.

The young man turned his head from the barkeep to look where the faun had indicated. Apparently, the minotaur having a drink with some human woman might have work needing done. Apparently, he was going on a hunt tomorrow and might need an extra pare of hands. Apparently, he was some sort of Nysan bigshot. Well. Jack didn't know anything about all that, but he did want to do some work and learning more about Nysa and its significant peoples would probably be helpful for the future.
Jack approached, watching him carefully. Outwardly, the young man maintained a friendly appearance while took stock, gears a turnin' on the inside. He was big. Powerful. Jack wasn't familiar with too many minotaurs but he figured this one could do some serious damage, maybe even more than your average 'taur.
"Hi!" The young man greeted him, coming to a stop at a respectful distance. "Word around here is you're doing some hunting tomorrow. Want an extra pair of hands? I'm looking for work while I'm in town."

Laenieya stumbled out of where the portal exit was, and did a slow 360 turn, looking around at the town. She clambered up onto a higher point, then took off and up, getting a better view.
"Whew..this really is another world.." She breathed. "Let's see...any si- ooh, look, a pub!"
She flew down towards it, dropping carefully, and dusting off her leafy attire, and entered. She looked at all the patrons, and made the smart realisation that therenwere lots of hooved people here. Many hooves. Wow. She really didn't fit in here. Though, her having bird wings might help, since it kinda made her look like she was part animal.
Lae luckily spotted two humans, and walked up to the girl, and politely cleared her throat to get her attention. "Um, excuse me miss, can I ask a few questions? First, what currency do they have, second, how do I earn some, and third, can anybody hear even understand what I'm saying?"

"Hi!" Said a man, coming up to himself and his subordinate. Hartnäckig looked up at the man, more used to a 'Greetings, sir!' from most. Hartnäckig did not recognize this man, but he was not from these parts. That much was obvious, with his accent, and the fact that most humans weren't.
"That I am. You look strong for your kind. Come, join us for a drink, let's relax before we slay the beast tomorrow." Hartnäckig smiled his grotesque smile, and downed his cup in a single gulp, signalling the faun waitress for more. Yet another stranger approached them, this one not seeking battle, but rather help. Although he was a grand, scary looking minotaur, the only humans in the pub were at his table, and the young creature obviously felt safer confronting them.
"Stumbled through a portal, eh?" Hartnäckig said, chuckling a little to himself. "Most folk won't understand English here, but I'm from your world, so I'll help you. We are relaxing before our hunt tomorrow, but you are welcome to join us for drink and food, my treat, and we can explain to you how this world works."

"Oh, thanks, mister!" She did a small bow. "My name is Laenieya. Lae for short. Pleased to meet you!" The fae smiled politely, and sat down at the table.
"So...where is..here?" She asked. "And what hunt?"
Now Lae was interested. She was no stranger to the sport, for pleasure or for necessity, and enjoyed it more or less. Though she presumed these people, or at least the minotaur in front of her, preferred to go in loud and proud, trying to each take down the biggest beast they could find with as little help from anyone else as they could manage.
Lae preferred a more...subtle approach. Tracking down her prey, drawing an arrow, aiming at just the right spot....and taking it down in one swift, clean blow from 30 feet above. If it did get messy, she could still handle it; she was able to move quicker than most of her prey could hit, and could attack just as hard as some, but it rarely got to such a bad stage where she was in danger of dying. Granted, the largest thing she hunted was a bear, and the most amount was three, but she was pretty confident.
"Are you hunting...something big? Something....cool?"

Jack looked away, slightly embarrassed, as he did his best aw shucks impression. He did look awfully strong, didn't he? The young man resisted the urge to flex and demonstrate his muscularness in public, though his chest did puff up a bit. Anyways, the minotaur clearly had a good eye if he could see Jack's greatness. After all, most tended to underestimate him. But in all fairness, magical power wasn't something one could see and physically he was almost lean enough to be mistaken for scrawny. So it was totally understandable.
We're getting off track. So, the minotaur did have some work for him, just as he'd hoped. Jack had been invited to do some hunting with him the following day. But before that, they would drink. The young man took a seat with him, figuring this might be a good opportunity to get to know his hunting companion better. Shortly afterwards, they were approached by a particularly lost looking individual. She wanted to ask a few questions and the minotaur seemed more than happy to answer them so Jack busied himself sipping from the drink he'd acquired before coming over.
The newcomer introduced herself as Lae and started asking questions about the hunt tomorrow. They were the same ones he needed to ask so Jack just sat back and waited for the answers, resolving to interject only intermittently.
"Karsraks, maybe?" The young man guessed when she asked what they were hunting. Jack had experienced a few run ins with the aggressive pack hunters before and they could definitely grow into a serious problem if left unchecked.

"Smart boy. We are indeed hunting Kasracks tomorrow. Nasty beast. It's like trying to take on a pack of lions, but worse. But in this world, it's like a butterfly compared to some of the other creatures that roam. This is Nysa, and it's a dangerous place. If you don't have the stomach for this kind of life, constantly wondering if the Silent Deaths will come to suck your blood during the night, you might want to go back home." Hartnäckig's tone was dead serious as he looked at the fae Lae. However, a sudden change of mood caused him to laugh again and take another big gulp of his drink.
"But you'll be safe here. The capital of the Faun kingdom, it's made of stone to keep you safe. The Fauns here accept some currency, but most of the other species and outlying villages tend to lean more on exchanges of hard labor. But I'll pay for your room tonight, so you can rest before you go home. Unless you'd rather come hunting with us tomorrow."
"Oh, I almost forgot. How rude. I am Hartnäckig, dear Lae."

"....So...these things are the most...non-threatening beast you guys go after?" She raised an eyebrow, then shrugged. "I'm game. Nice to meet you Hartnäckig."
She smiled at him. This was gonna be fun. Hunting down beasts in a unknown land, with a fearsome minotaur and...these other guys...tracking footprints, trekking through wilderness. This is what she liked.
"So, what do these Kasracks look like? You said lions, but do they actually look like them? And how are we going about hunting them? Just charging in, or trying to surprise them?" Lae wanted details, so she could prepare. She couldn't do much to prepare. Maybe some push ups. But if it was a charge, or there was a chance it would become that, she could manifest a larger amount of arrows. Maybe try to get some push ups in. Ugh. Push ups. She should sharpen her dagger too, so that she has both a close range weapon, and something to skin the Kasracks afterwards. If they had skin, that is.

So they were hunting them. Jack was mildly pleased to know he'd been correct. Karsraks were decent prey, if not the most dangerous Nysa had to offer. They were threats to Nysa's ordinary peoples and hunting them was good work if one could manage it. Truth be told, the young wizard might have been hoping for prey less ordinary. A true challenge. But that was mostly just his pride talking. Chasing legends on short notice was how people became monster food.
Ten watched Lae closely, trying to see how she would react to what the minotaur had told her. She didn't seem worried or scared, at least. That was good, right? Though it wasn't the best indication of how she would react during the hunt, it did help to convey that she had some measure of confidence in her abilities, whatever those may be. Jack would still keep an eye on her while they fought, like he would anyone fighting with him, but it seemed safe to assume she wouldn't need any babysitting and neither would Hartnäckig.
Everyone seemed to be introducing themselves, so Jack finally spoke up again. "I'm Tenebrous, Ten for short." He then went back to sipping his drink. He'd encountered Karsraks before but had never been the best at descriptions, so he decided to leave that to the minotaur. Since Hartnäckig seemed to have planned this hunt at least somewhat in advance, Jack would leave outlining a strategy to him, too.
"They're pack hunters, right? So we probably won't just charge in. I'm sure the big guy has a plan."

"They are pack hunters. And no, they are not the most non-threatening beast out there, but they are still much safer then some of the other creatures. But do not take this as a sign that this will be simple. A weak creature here is still like fighting Earth's most dangerous predators."
Hartnäckig sighed and took another drink. The night before was supposed to be for relaxing, for merriment. One would cast away any fear of the next day and simply live in the moment. But they were jumping the gun and thinking of the hunt.
"I plan to explain this all tomorrow. My crew will be joining us. If we can, we'll sneak up and encircle the Kasraks. My men will have shields, make an arena of sorts. Pick them off with arrows, then send in the fighters. Things don't always go as planned, but as long as we can get the drop on them, Kasracks aren't the most intelligent of beasts."

Lae listened closely, and nodded at the end. "Got it." She took her quiver off of her back, and pulled out her 'rations'. She took a sip of a lukewarm bottle of cola, and slung the quiver on her back again. "Doesn't sound too complex."
This was quite exciting. A brand new world, with mean monsters. And minotaurs. And stuff. She felt like spending a lot of time here, as it was quite an interesting place. The inhabitants were interesting, the monsters sounded dangerous, and the weather wasn't too shabby either. Just her kind of world. The only downside was they probably didn't sell Skittles, but she could just go back home. Probably.
She looked around the tavern, examining all the patrons. They were all happy looking, and most were fauns. Lae got the urge to try and pet one of their legs, but decided against it. Probably not a good idea. They did look fluffy though. So did Hartnäckig, but he was far too manly for petting.

In a less serious conversation and among friends, Jack might have retorted that he was among Earth's deadliest predators and easily outclassed the weak of Nysa. But he refrained, chewing his lip. It just wouldn't do to be boastful. The young wizard had seen far too many friends and enemies meet unfortunate fates due to hubris. Jack was strong, but he still had a long way to go. And no matter how strong he managed to get, there would probably always be someone stronger somewhere.
As he sat there, sipping his drink, Ten listened to the brief overview the minotaur gave of the hunt plan tomorrow, trying not to frown outwardly. So many people, so close together. He wouldn't be able to go all out. Well, that was fine. The more people around, the less he would need to do. Jack was fairly well prepared for such eventualities and his ability to manipulate metal made him a fairly competent knife thrower. The young man could hold his own, even if he was to willingly tie one hand behind his back. In the magical sense. Anyways.
Jack gave a low whistle, sounding impressed. Hartnäckig did seem to know what he was doing and obviously didn't underestimate the prey they were hunting. He seemed like a dangerous guy to get on the bad side of. "Sounds pretty organized. Are you and your crew full time monster hunters or something?"
