Antoinette could not believe her eyes. It just couldn't be her, but it was. The same long, brown hair, the same powerful, brown eyes, the same graceful presence. The very Goddess she thought was gone for good was back. Antoinette knew that Ishtara had escaped her death, but only from word of mouth. She is usually one to 'believe it when she sees it'. Well, there in front of her stood her proof.
For as long as she has known her, Ishtara has always had a glow about her. Whenever she stepped into a room, it was like a gust of fresh air. Her presence brought up whatever spirit was near her. Antoinette hated her for that. She envied her. Being the Goddess of Vampyres, Antoinette was always one to have fear and darkness follow in her footsteps. But not Ishtara. Never Ishtara. Except for now, however. No matter how hard she tried to hide it, Antoinette could see that Ishtara was ready to break down in tears. She should see that she was trying so very hard to keep her head up high, to keep her eyes straight and focused. However, Antoinette could see right through her act. She looked like she was ready to fall into Forgery's arms, wanting him to comfort her, to tell her that he still loved her. She glanced over at Forgery, trying to read him. Blank. Emotionless. Careless. She sighed. Nothing had changed. Good news for her. Not so good news for the Goddess of Truth.
"I've returned from the death of the Tree of Reclamation. Greetings, Forgery, God of Deception and Antoinette, Goddess of Vampires. I trust you do well in these..." she covered her mouth in a fist as she coughed. She cleared her throat. "I trust you both do well in these troublesome times?" That poor woman, the Goddess thought. She would have hated to be in her position. Antoinette bowed respectfully. "Greetings, again, Ishtara. I must say it's quite a surprise to see you again." She almost wanted to ask how she escaped, but her resisted. Forgery suggested that we all...catch up and talk. She glanced at him once more and saw him wink at her. She shifted her eyes down to the ground. 'I think the word 'awkward' doesn't come even close to describing this situation...'
