She rolled, her sleep interrupted by coughing. Pulling a white tissue to her lips she coughed into it, as she pulled it away blood settled on the cloth. She swallowed and looked about her surroundings. The old abandoned hotel sat in the outskirts of a city. The beds, were still comfortable, even if half the building had burnt down. Hot water still flowed through the pipes. She rolled out of the bed completely, her cocoa skin contrasted against the white sheets. She stood, the long cotton night shirt hanging down just past her rear. She stumbled in the dark across the hall to a room, kicking open the bathroom door. She turned on the water, hot. Steaming up the room she kicked the door closed she sat against the tub wall letting the steam fill her lungs with deep breaths. She coughed some more and went to her hands and knees.
It's been two months. Two months since she was told she was going to die. Each day was worse then the next. Coughing more blood, more pain. She stayed out of the mainstream. Homeless. Alone. Her long dark hair was pulled back into a low ponytail.
She thought of her mother, and her father, she was happy she never told them, they didst deserve to see her die. She did occasionally see her face on a missing poster. A US congressman's daughter missing, that was a big deal, that's why she left. Withdrew her savings bought a bike and left. She had counted her remaining last night, just under a thousand left in US dollars. She was going to have to figure out a way to get more if she didn't die before she ran out.
Right now, dying looked pretty good. She stood and wiped the blood from her mouth, turning off the water and going back into the hall.
Knowing sleep was past her now she moved back to her room, grabbing her bag and pulling on a pair of black leggings. She searched through her bag till she pulled out her iPod, turning it on, and then grabbed her point shoes out of her bag and headed down away from the room towards the hotel's once grand ballroom. She plugged the ipod into the pa system praying that it still worked. When the familiar beat of a song played she smiled and moved to the center of the ballroom.
Dance. It was her outlet. Her body moved in perfect synchronization to the music, flowing effortlessly around. Contemporary was the style she danced, with a touch of the ballet she was trained in. Palms flat on the ground her body formed a gymnastics like pose, a sort of hand stand with a lazy split. She lowered her body to the ground and moved back to standing. As she dance a breeze built up about the room, moving and swaying like ocean waves, caressing her skin as one song played after the other, she kept dancing.
The man strolled down the street, leaving the two corpses laying where they lay and not bothering to move them. He strolled non-chalantly after the two running bodies, his black felt fedora pulled low over his eyes. His long black coat covered his black short sleeve shirt, and black slacks encased his long legs. He moved with a sure stride. His Kobra, his double bladed katana, still lay in it's sheath across his back, and his pistol Venom remained in it's holster, un-fired for the entirety of this fight. One of the running figures turned to face him, drawing a pistol and firing at him. Smirking, he phased and the bullets plowed through his form, entering his chest and exiting his back with a small puff of smoke before colliding with the wall behind him. The pathetic man dropped the gun and fell to his knees, begging for mercy as Gheist approached him. Shaking his in head in disgust, the black clad male's hand shoot out, striking with the flat of his had like a hammer across the man's throat, crushing his larynx. The man fell to the street, clutching his throat and suffocating, a slow and painful death to be sure.
Gheist followed the last running figure, hit number four. A quadruple hit today. So far it had turned out pathetically easy. A few civilians had run when he and slew the first two in the middle of the street, and by now they had probably called the cops. He knew he would catch the second man. He had studied these streets before starting the hit, and this way lead to a dead end. No doors, no windows. Just three solid walls, about fifteen feet high. No way out. He turned the corner and saw the man looking desperately for some way, any way out. He even jumped up, attempting to climb the wall to get away. Gheist strolled towards him, cool as ice and acting as if he had all the time in the world. As he reached the man, the other male turned and threw a punch at his face. With casual contempt, Gheist caught the fist in his left hand and with a swift upward thrust of his right, drove his fist into the man's elbow. The joint shattered and man let out a high pitched scream. Following through in on fluid motioin, Gheist stepped forward to his right, the man's left, and lifted his shoed foot and drove it into the man's knee, forcing the joint to bend in a direction it was never intended to go. The joint blew out, and the man dropped to his knees upon the ground as Gheist stepped behind him.
The man blubbered like a child, begging for Gheist to not kill him, to let him live as the un-injured male slowly reached into his jacket and with drew his pistol. The soft click of the safety sounded twice as he pushed it to semi-automatic and he placed the gun against the man's head.
"P...pl...please!!! Don't k...k..kill me!!" The man wailed, struggling. "I will pay you triple what they did!! I will make it worth your while."
A cool, dark voice poured from the lips of the black clad mail. "Who said I was going to kill you just yet?" He stepped to the man's left side, and with a quick motion of his wrist, pressed the barrel of the gun just ahead of the man's temple, right beside his eyes. A shattering crack resounded from the enclosed space. Gheist was positive somebody heard it, but didn't really care. The bullet tore through the man's eye socket, popping his optical devices like cherries and shattering the bridge of his nose before plunging out the other side, and burying deep in the wall across from them.
A ear splitting screech filled the air, the tortured man falling face first upon the ground, clutching his ruined eyes. He screamed long and high, unable to believe what was happening to him. Blood pooled along the ground from his ruined face, spreading in a widening puddle. Gheist raised his head, the sounds of sirens to close for comfort anymore. He would have to leave off the torture and finish the man. He slipped his pistol back into it's holster, and jerked the man to his knees by his hair, eliciting another piercing wail. He drew Kobra from it's sheath and stepped away from the man. As police cars screech infront of the ally way, he slashed across the man's chest from left to right. Two parallel lines appeared on his chest where skin split apart, revealing glistening flesh below. The sword bit deep at the very end of the stroke, piercing the mans ribs and severing his heart in half and finally ending the man's pain.
Police poured from their vehicles, raising their own firearms and aiming upon the still living male, who was wiping the blood from the blades with a white handkerchief and slipping it back into it's sheath.
"Alright, hold it right there! Drop your weapon!" One police officer screamed out at him. Gheist looked at the arranged officers before him and smirked, shaking his head slightly. He walked towards the wall to his right and phased right through it, looking like the ghost going through the wall. The police panicked, running around and trying to find where he had gone to.
Gheist simply walked through several wall, coming out of one building and entering another, this one being some kind of burnt out hotel or another. He stopped phasing and climbed several flights of steps. He tried the door handle of a room but found it either locked or jammed. He could have kicked it down, but right now, he was looking for silence. He simple phased through the door again, appearing in a small, dark room.
Gheist's particularly good vision in the dark stopped him from moving forward as he stared at the female, performing gymnastics on the ground before him. A soft wind blew about the room, which is why he had failed to hear her movements. He had assumed it was a hole in the ceiling, or a knocked down wall. But the room was intact. He watched the female gyrate about, a smiling playing upon his lips. She was good, and extremely pleasing to the eye as well. He decided to just stay silent, waiting to see how long she would take to notice she had an audience to her show.

She danced, the music pulsed, and flowed through her veins. She wad unaware of her audience or what had happened outside. She lost in her world of dance, consumed by the fire of her movements. Each step held the confidence she once held with every aspect of her life. After a series of complex steps she shifted to the toes of her right foot in a piroette spinning twice around with her eyes closed, before she opened to spot on her third and final turn, catching the shadows of a form in the doorway. A gasp escaped her lips as she faltered in her steps, her hands moving protectively, drawing up wind and sending a blast of it in his direction before skidding across the floor to her things and bolting to the exit, which he had conveniently had blocked with his body, which she slammed into, sending her sprawling. Jumping up and attempted to scramble over him and into the hallway, she cursed as she moved.
Once in the hallway she moved through it stealthily looking back to see if she had been followed not seeing him she weezed and stop standing in the middle hallway, trying to catch her breath.
Having expected a violent reaction when she finally spotted him, he had not expected it to be a blast of air to his chest. He felt it the blast begin to slam into his chest and he grunted, phasing at the last second to allow the air to flow through him. However, he had still been hit by some of the air and slid backwards into the door, slamming into it with his back. A soft grunt slipped through his lips, and then a another as he was collided into. They both went crashing to the floor and before he could react the female scrambled over him and into the hallway. He leap to his feet and ran along the room on the other side of the wall. When reached the wall, he simply phased through it again and stopped, having heard her footsteps halt. He opened the door and stepped out in front of her, smirking as she was looking backwards for him. He stepped towards her and grabbed her wrist, jerking her to face him.
His lips parted and he spoke, his cool even voice flowing around her. "That was not very nice to do to a man who had no intention of harming you, Madam. Now, let use try the introductions again." He slowly slid his hand down her wrist, his the tips of his fingers trailing along her dainty wrist before gripping her hand firmly. He shook her hand up and down several times before releasing her and smirking. His other hand reached up, tipping his fedora slightly downwards as he shook her hand and he smile. "Gheist, at your service."

Phew. She lost him. She turned around to walk back to her room as he grabbed her wrist, her hand instinctively flying out drawing in wind to land a good punch in his chest. He held up her wrist and she looked up at him, the wind flying from her fingertips with a poof. She huffed as he spoke struggling to get her wrist free, before she paused listening to what he was saying, his words smoothing her over. She stopped fighting and looked at him like he had just snorted a pound of wasabe as he loosened her wrist, trailing his fingers down it to wrap around her hand shaking it. As he shook her hand her whole arm flopped up and down as she raised a slender brow. He tipped his hat and she suddenly realised, that the hat...it would be the death of her. Her fingers tightened as she refrained from reaching up and lifting it out of his eyes, but blocked the temptation as she snorted, a very unattractive sound coming from her; and responded to him.
"Secretly watching people isn't polite. How ever I will forgive you this time. Next time I may not."
He raised a dark eyebrow below his hat quizzically at the very un-lady like sound, but remained silent. When she told him her name, he muttered something unintelligible beneath his breath, about how he could only wish, then stepped back. His lips parted and his words flowed out again, smooth and cool.
"I wasn't secretly watching you. I thought this burnt out ruin to be empty, and a good place to hide. Instead, I stumbled upon a beautiful woman, dancing her heart out to an invisible audience. How could I pass up not staring at least a little bit?" He smiled and reached out, brushing a strand of her hair from her eyes.
"I am extremely sorry I started you. But still, using you element against me like that was slightly uncalled for. After all, you didn't see me blinding you did I?" He smirked as darkness crept along the floor, around his feet, blanketing everything slowly oozing around them, flowing up to there hips.

She watched him as he spoke, more so she watched his lips as he spoke. Like a snake and his charmer, but which was he the snake? Or the charmer? Her hand went to her hip, as she went to a relaxed stance as he spoke about beauty, she started to laugh before covering her mouth.
"I'm sorry I don't mean to laugh but, I bet you use that with all the ladies, that was so smooth"
She laughed a little waving her hand. Covering her mouth. She wasn't one for someone coming on to her and her laughing was her reaction to her trying to not pay attention to him. She continued laughing as he spoke about her element, and she continued to giggle, until threads of darkness spread about them up to her waist, she couldn't see below her waist. She squealed and jumped dropping her ipod and point shoes, flinging herself against him tightening her grip as she wrapped her arms around his neck as if she was climbing the tall male, to get away from the inky dark that surrounded them. Afraid of the dark...slightly.
He chuckled and the dark slowly receded, flowing away from them and melding into the other shadows. He slowly peeled her arms off from around his neck, and stepped backwards, rubbing where she had squeezed hard.
"Well, we both are glad that I didn't use my element against you obviously." He smirked and resettled his hat where it had shifted when she had practically leap into his arms. He finished and dropped his hands back to his sides, staring at her.
"You never mentioned why you where hiding in this burnt out piece of trash instead of living somewhere more becoming of a sexy lady such as yourself. I am actually quite curious to be honest." His head jerked to the side as sirens went wailing by, and he slowly relaxed again only when the sound had completely faded into the far distance.

She watched wide eyed at the shadows, as they receded. He didn't need to peel her off, once she realized what she had done in her moment of fear she lept off him steadying herself with ease. She knelt down and picked up her point shoes and her ipod, which had cracked. She ran her thumb of the cracked screen and sighed. Emotions swelled within her, her father had given it to her as a congratulation gift to getting into ABA. She bit down on her bottom lip hard, the pain focusing her emotions into nothing. She looked up as he spoke watching him adjust his hat from where she had knocked it askew.  Why was she living here? Her stealth abilities helped her stay undetected, and her ability to create food kept her fed. She could get into any locked building. Why dis she remain hidden. She was technically a fugitive, in a sense. Her father was looking for her, and he would pay handsomely for any hint to her whereabouts.
Gheist smirked, shaking his head. He reached into his long coat, and pulled out a rolled up piece of paper. He unrolled it slowly, and began perusing it, every now and then looking up at the female then back down at the paper. As the moments lengthened, his smirk grew wider and wider, and he finally burst into laughter.
"So, Evangeline. I take it you don't want to go back to your father? What is it you did so bad that made him put a hundred thousand dollars out for you?" He rolled the paper back up and tossed it to her. When she opened it, she would find a picture of herself, her name, and the amount of a hundred thousand dollars inscribed below that for her live capture.
He shook his head, and stepped back quickly, knowing the reaction she would have would probably be violent again thinking he was there to take her in. This was not true. He had simply ripped the paper from a telephone pole earlier that very evening, and had not yet to dispose of it. He did not engage in contracts of live capture, unless they where of substantially more then this one was.
"Don't worry! I am not here to collect you! I simply found that earlier. I was in fact on a earlier contract here myself. I found myself needing a place to stay for the evening and stumbled upon you." He smiled genuinely this time, trying his best to sooth any doubts or fears she had away.
"I don't deal in live contracts. Not unless they hit more then half a mill. So you don't have anything to worry about. However, if you are will. I can always protect you for the time I am in the area. For a small fee of course." He smiled, holding his hand out. "Or, if you can assure me of the chance to kill at least two people, I would GLADLY do it for free." He chuckled, his voice taking a darker, more cutting edge as the sound seeped past his lips.

She raised a brow and pulled her hair put of it's pony tail brushing the long dark strands about her shoulders. She watched him curiously, as he unrolled a paper and looked at it. She almost dropped her shoes and ipod again to catch the paper as he tossed it to her.
"What?!"
She exclaimed unrolling the paper quickly and looking at it. The picture was her. She was smiling brightly holding onto a small kitten, muffin. She read down.
"a hundred thousand? Shhhiiiiit."
She swore, dragging the word out. She tossed the paper to the ground, running her fingers through her hair. She turned her back and moved down the hallway towards her room cursing the length of the way. She pushed open the door looking over her shoulder to Gheist, until a hand reached out and grabbed a handful of her hair, yanking her into the room. She let out a yelp before spinning on the balls of her feet, her hands going to the captors hands as she pulled back attempting to pull her self free.
"let. Go!"
She yelled before slamming her hands into the man's chest releasing a large blast of air, sending him flying backwards through the thin drywall. She moved quickly grabbing her bag and bike keys off the side table, before bolting out of the room, she kicked open the door to room her attacker had flown into and she dropped her stuff flinging her arms out to her side, the man lifting off the ground and slamming into the ceiling, being pinned there lightly, as he struggled a paper fell from his jacket, to the ground. It was another missing poster of herself. She turned and glared at Gheist.
"I thought you didn't do live contracts? What was your plan? Distract me and have him grab me so you can bring me home?"
She huffed exerting a lot of energy holding the man to the ceiling.
Gheist watched the female with a cool, impassive gaze as she was attacked and quite efficently defended herself. However, he sneered deeply as she accused him out right of such trickery.
"You think I would do something as low as that. As I said, I don't do live contracts, nor do I work well with others. I always work alone. Also...." As he began his last sentence, he strode towards her with long strides, glaring at her. He walked right past her, and with a whistle of air, his katana flew from his scabbard and slashed the assault's neck, severing his head from his body except for and inch of flesh left at the back of the neck where he couldn't quite reach.
"Also, I do NOT like men who man handle women roughly. That is my job, and only in bed." He slung the blood from the blade against the wall, stepping out from under the man's body still pinioned against the ceiling like an insect upon a specimen board. Blood poured from the slashed throat like a fountain, splattering upon the floor and quickly forming a puddle there that spread. He glared at her, his eyes hard and VERY cold now.
"Enough proof for you that I am not some low life scoundrel, attempting to kidnap you? I certainly hope so." He sheathed his blade, stalking past her back out into the hallway
Post by Evangeline Blazer on Aug 14, 2011 21:11:13 GMT -5
Her pupils were dilated as she concentrated power, however as he strode forward and drew his katana she squeaked as he slit the throat of the man, she concentrated hard trying to keep the man pinned against the ceiling. It was when he glared coldly into her eyes it caused her concentration to fail and she dropped the body with a loud thud jumping back against the wall herself pressing herself against it staring wide eyed at the body. The blood from his katana flung against the wall, as he spoke her eyes staring at the body. As he turned and walked away she broke out of her gaze her eyes looking at him walk away. She stepped over the body and moved so she was having his back.
"Your just going to leave the body?"
She asked watching him walk. She rubbed her wrist a bit before rubbing the back of her neck. She sighed.
"I'm sorry."
She called after he almost made it to the end of the hall, her body slumping in a defiant defeat. Her hair was ruffled around her head, tangled in a few places from where she was grabbed, and a bit sore even. Her breath flew past her lips in a sigh, her face paled from the sight of a man being killed before her, she was doing everything she could to keep her dinner down. Her long sleeved night shirt Hung off one of her bare shoulders as she stood there defeated. She wasn't going to leave the body there, with another sigh she dropped her bag and looked about, she moved across the hall and pressed her hand against the locking mechanism of the door, the lock unlocking with ease, she pushed the door open and walked in ripping the shower curtain open and pulling it off. She dragged it out to the hallway and layed it on the floor before moving to roll the man onto it.
He simply shrugged at her words. Of course he was going to leave the body. Why should he move it? The man had attacked her and didn't deserve the time of day for a decent burial or so much as a blanket or anything. He stopped at the end of the hallway though when the sounds of Eva moving the body reached his ears. He closed his eyes, sighing deeply. As her apology reached him he spun upon his heals and moved back. He pushed her softly aside and rolled the body quickly up in the curtain, tucking the ends in so no more blood would run out and pool around him. He then lifted, heaving the body up on to his shoulder and strode into the bathroom as if he wasn't even carrying almost two hundred extra pounds. He stopped and laid the corpse in the bath tub and then turned and walked out, closing the door behind him. He looked into Evangeline's eyes, his own optics probing her for few seconds before he stepped forward and reached out, pulling night shirt up to cover her shoulders.
"It is cold outside. Do you want to borrow my coat?" He ask softly. He was being rude, and he knew it. He wanted nothing more then to get out of this town and get paid already, but his heart hurt for he knew what would happen to this girl if he left. More men would come. And she had struggled to simply hold one aloft. If to many attacked her at once, she would go down and hard. Coupled with this fact, she was a very attractive female, and the men coming after her would be rather unpleasant men. No telling what they would do to her before turning her in. After all, why would her father believe if some men had "roughed her up" a little as she was caught? With out waiting for an answer, he unfastened the buttons off his coat and wrapped it around her shoulders, leaving himself in his just short sleeve black t-shirt and revealing the holster of his pistol on the outside of it, two clips beneath it. He turned and began walking more slowly towards the stairway.
"Where do you want to go? I will see you there safely, because I have absolutely no doubt that more men will attack you along the way."

She had managed to get the body rolled once, his blood getting on the front of her shirt as she pushed his body onto the plastic. That was when she was nudged out of the way, her eyes looking towards Gheist. She watched as he rolled the body like it was a burrito, before picking it up like a towel and tossing it over his shoulder. Her head tilted to the side a bit when she saw this her mind wandering to the amount of strength that would require, to the muscles that were needed to have that strength, then to what his muscles looked like to finally what he would look like without a shirt. She was thinking about this exact thing, when he unfastened his coat and pulled it off, her eyes blinked and widened. She stared at him with doe eyes until his jacket went on her, snapping her out of her daze. Huh, what? Where did she want to go? Out of the city, back into the woods. She had needed to charge her ipod and put gas in her bike, but now she was found she would only get killed in the woods. This was the first person she had run into who was actually looking for her and he reality of the situation struck her hard, her facial expression dropping instantly. Her parents had set a reward for her, publicly from the look of the poster, in Canada even, which means someone had spotted her before, and alerted the US Government of where she was. No doubt her father had made her disappearing a national deal. Congressman Clerig Michael Blazer was the perfect family man, with a beautiful wife and two wonderful children. She bet that her parents had thought she was abducted, and have made it national headlines. She couldn't go back to the states now. She couldn't have let them watch her die. If they had known and find out she was miraculously healed, oh boy, then the shit would hit the fan. She registered that he was talking again as he walked away she finally came back to all her senses, his scent from his jacket she now wore surrounded her. She took a slightly deep breath, before she picked up her bag, swung it on her shoulder picking up her bike keys. When she caught up to him she slowed her walking so she was a few paces ahead of him. She looked over her shoulder at him as she made it to the stairs pausing.
"I'm the rescuer remember, I'm suppose to save you, not the otherway around"
Her attitude was matter of factly as there was also a teasing tone, she reached out with her right hand grabbing onto the banister before taking a step down one. She was a foot shorter then him regularly, now she was really. Really. Short.
"I don't know about you, but I'm hungry, and now in need of a shower,"
She motioned to her shirt the blood down the front as well as the little bit that got on the smooth skin of her neck and by her collarbone. She stepped up a step, now just a foot shorter.
"I am going to find an actual hotel, just outside town actually pay for a room, shower, then find me a good resturant with a hot meal. Let me pay you back, for helping me with the body. A good place to sleep and a hot meal...that's if you don't have someone waiting for you, not that I am asking to cause that I'm lonely, cause I'm not, well I am but not like that and....I'm shutting my mouth."
