A simple industrial-office building was being used as the headquarters of the local security company, and it was there that any exercises and drills were performed, be they promotional or internal. There was plenty of room for activities already, but the company had shelled out to instal a public range and gym inside of an old warehouse off to the side of the main facility. The whole place was quite well rounded all things considered, but that was to be expected, Alan thought.
Most of the drills and training would be outside this time around, which was just as well considering what the weather was supposed to be like for the next week or two. Running laps in the sun rather than trudging through the rain was pretty preferable for most people. The whole setup was actually pretty cool though. There was an area set aside for conditioning and physical exercise, another area for learning the dos and don'ts of various firearms and other weaponry, hell they had even bothered to set up a closed course for some drills involving paintball guns. There was also the final course, of course. That particular section of the yard, as it was called by employees due to it's similarity to a prison yard, was reminiscent of a police obstacle course than anything else. It had a few more thing on it, such as a trip to the firing range, but otherwise it was pretty similar.
Alan walked up the small path to the front desk area around the front of the building to sign in, though he was still a little early. Signing in now would give him time to say his hellos to the family in the building before he would go outside to meet his "Plus one" for the week. It was interesting to see all of the different people showing up though. There were some people who looked lik they already knew most of this stuff, like Alan himself, and then there were a few gym rats, gun jockeys, and a whole lot of normal people just looking for a crash course in self defense. It was nice that so many people were showing up this time around, last year there certainly hadn't been nearly as many.

Kyrian yawned lightly as he pressed down on the lock button on his remote control for his car three times, to make sure that the black 2010 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT was properly secure; not that he needed to worry much, since he could always buy a new one. Certain of his car being locked, the male took his keys and, using the carabiner they were attached to, hooked the set of keys to the front right belt loop of the black cargo pants he was wearing as he walked towards his destination; the front doors of what seemed like a simple office building. However, the building, and surrounding area, belonged to a security company that allowed use of their various forms of training areas and programs.
Kyrian had recently begun to visit the site, since his abrupt return to Earth, due to an old were-falcon acquaintance who referred it to him as a much better alternative than simply joining some gym. The elemental, after his brief run-in with two wendigo, figured that there could be no harm in making sure his body and mind were always ready for a confrontation. And another thing that he had learned was that he needed to become better at working in groups, since he suffered from what he liked to call 'Hero Syndrome,' where he was more used to fighting and surviving on his own, and did not really interact with groups properly. This had been proven to him the few times he had been to the realm known as the Khyper-Diorem. So, the man was at this place to take advantage of some of it's team activities, and talk with people who had experience with group ventures, from military, police or private security backgrounds.
Entering the place for the third time, Kyrian took note that he was a bit early, as he only saw one man, who was currently walking away from the front desk. Still in a bit of a sleepy fog, the elemental continued on to the front desk and signed in, before pulling a bottle of water out of the bag strapped across his chest, and making his way to the workout room for some stretching and warming up while waiting for more people to come.

Inside the car, Beth stared at the items inside her bag over as she went over the list Alan had given her. Everything seemed to be there but she was sure something was missing. She was going through a bit of anxiety, worrying about looking like an idiot in front of everyone, maybe to the point of Alan regretting he gave her the opportunity in the first place. Beth took a deep breath as she told herself how stupid she was acting, and that there was no reason for it. Finally after checking over everything for possibly the 80th time, she zipped the bag shut and stepped out of the car and made her way indoors.
It was different than she had imagined, though she wasn't sure what to imagine. This was her first time doing anything like this. Before she became nervous again, Beth made her way up to the sign in area. By the time she made it in there were already a ton of people there. Most were talking to each other. Many seemed to already know at least a few of the others. Bethany didn't see Alan yet. She hoped he'd find her soon so she wouldn't have to stand around awkward and quiet for too long.

While patiently waiting Alan had managed to get called inside of the building by his brother. The little guy had found himself a lady friend just recently, and wanted to introduce her to his brother. She didn't look very happy to be at the firm, but she was at least polite about it. And, from the looks of things, she and Alan's brother were quite happy with one another. They were already acting like an old married couple and everything.
After managing to free himself from the clutches of his sibling and potentially future sister-in-law, Alan made his way back out to the lobby to see if the person he was waiting on had shown up. It was difficult to get a look through all of the people that had crammed themselves into the small space, but eventually he caught a glimpse of the wavy auburn hair the lady wore. It was with minimal effort that Alan pushed his way through the teeming masses and over to her, where he offered a quick "Hey! Glad you made it, everything is going to start in just a little bit. I'll show you around before then, if you'd like." and a friendly smile.

Just before she started to lose hope, Alan popped out from the growing crowd and found her. She was able to feel much less awkward and out of place already. "That sounds great. I hope I won't be too much trouble for you this week." Seeing his smile gave her a boost of confidence. One of her goals was to not have Alan hate her by the end of the week, and maybe even make a friend or two. That was after she improved herself.
There were some looks from strangers her way. Probably because they hadn't seen her here before but in her mind it was like they could see she was inexperienced. Beth gave them no more eye contact and gave her best to ignore it. "So how many times have you done one of these?" She figured he was going to be amazing, and put many of these people to shame.

"Nah, you'll be fine." Alan said, and waved off the notion that the lady would be making any trouble. Between the other police officers and the criminals that he had been trained with and bringing in respectively, he was pretty confident in Beth's ability to not be any sort of bother. Besides, she wasn't the only new face at the clinic. As bad as she might turn out to be, there was always someone worse.
Her next question was somewhat tricky to answer, if only because he wasn't sure what exactly constituted 'One of these'. Sure he had gone through his fair share of conditioning and drills as an officer of the law, but he hadn't specifically done anything with his family's event. After giving it a moment's though, he would say "Sort of. I haven't been here for a public clinic before, but from what I've seen and have heard it's pretty simple and universal stuff."
About that time he had reached the locker rooms, where most of everyone's things would be kept for safekeeping. The next few stops were the bathrooms, cafeteria, and outdoor facilities. Each would be explained as they got around to them if needed, though it was all pretty straight forward.

"You'll be fine." Easy enough for him to say but he didn't really know for sure. In fact he barely knew her. Still, her confidence grew and she simply have him a nod in understanding. If she were to screw up that badly, she was sure he'd help her out. How bad could she possibly mess up anyway? Surely she wasn't the only first timer.
They had made their way to the locker rooms, and Beth placed most of her things safely inside. It was nice to not have to carry everything around anymore. He continued showing her the rest of the rest, room by room. Her own personal tour guide.
"Thank you for showing me around." she said after he had finished. She had a feeling it will be fun to spend the entire week with him. Though she wondered if he had a sense of humor. Maybe he'd open up to her a little more in the next day or so.

"Yeah, happy to do it! And if you need anything, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to help." Alan would say, shortly before checking his wrist for the current time. The first item on the day's agenda would be to gather everyone into groups, and to then assess just how capable said groups were. It was a public clinic yes, but that didn't mean that the activities couldn't be catered to groups of similarly skilled people.
Once assessment was over with, it would be time to get stretches and warm up activities underway. A few laps around the facility's courtyard were after that, and then the groups would all be put into different activity stations. There was a weights area, an obstacle course, shooting range, there were several wrestling mats set out, and then there was a small running track set up a short distance away.
Each day of the program everyone would cycle through all of the different stations at least once, until the allotted four hours had passed. At that point, everyone was free to either go home for the day, or browse through the different stations at their leisure. So long as nobody hurt themselves, at least.
All of the information regarding such things was on the program's brochure of course, as well as the first day's meeting time. After looking up from his watch Alan would observe "Looks like things are going to get started soon enough, and the first thing they'll want to do is get everyone into groups. I'll make sure we end up in the same place, unless you have any objections of course."
