"Mountains and storm never make for a good match," Apollo mentioned to Linette with unease in his voice. Linette knew that the snow storm approaching their doorstep would make this quest more difficult, but it was the greatest chance to find the Ahklut. The captain added in "Wherever you decide to look, miss, you've got my support. Mountains, storm, or none. I'm in this quest for the long haul now." it was nice to know that he wouldn't be scared a way by some bad weather; she just hoped that he wouldn't abandon them in the wilderness.
Pulling a map from her back pack Linette showed it to her two companions, red x'x and circles lay scattered around different parts of the region, " Well with the storm approaching; i thought we could start our search in the forests along the coast and progress our way towards this mountain range right here." she said smiling at Apollo. She knew very little about the region other than what she had read online. " I thought that we'd want to stay close to the water; since the diving Akhlut thrive init. If we find one: we find the pack right?" she half told half asked her companions.

Apollo took a single step before Linette spoke up. "Well," she started. "With the storm approaching; i thought we could start our search in the forests along the coast and progress our way towards this mountain range right here. I thought that we'd want to stay close to the water; since the diving Akhlut thrive init. If we find one: we find the pack right?"
"Excellent idea, Linnette," Apollo replied. "We'll be sure to meet them near a large body of water, maybe near a lake or by the shore. We'll probably find some soon this way."
Apollo began to walk down the shore. After a brief look down the way, he noticed that if they continued following the coast they would arrive near the woods in no time. The really challenging part would be to locate the perfect area where an Akhlut would rest. This was the least exciting part of quests for Apollo, the searching.

The other two were talking about stuff. Where to look for the beasties they were hunting or somesuch. Truth be told, Flint found himself somewhat distracted. Maybe disinterested? Didn't really matter. He was feeling a little hungry, though.
The grizzled older man eyed a nearby drug store. They probably had gummy bears, right? Right? Linette asked a question and, not entirely sure what to say, from lack of paying attention, Flint simply nodded his head in agreement. "The logic seems sound enough," he said.
"Before we go, I'm gonna run into this store real quick-like," Locke said. "Hungerin' for a sugary snack, tis all."
He set off at a trot and headed into the store. Moments later, the building exploded! Some freak gas thing, probably. Right? Right!? There certainly wasn't any correlation between the explosion and Ben's text alert about a two for one deal on gummy bears at his favorite candy shop in Minnesota.
People were screaming and the fire was beginning to spread to nearby buildings. Of the drugstore Ben had disappeared into, there wasn't much left. The corpses that could be discerned among the ruins, smoke, and flames were damaged beyond any possible attempt identification. It wasn't very long before the emergency folks appeared. It didn't take them very long to get the fire under control and the living shipped off to hospitals.
It would seem Linette and pals would have to finish their hunt without their dear old cap'n.

Linette blushed at Apollos compliment; she didn't remember him being so sweet; then again last time they were deep in the heart of Mount Olympus fighting for their lives. "Before we go, I'm gonna run into this store real quick-like," Locke said. "Hungerin' for a sugary snack, tis all." "Alright Flint, we'll wait here for you" she replied with a small smile.
While they waited for the captains return Linette turned to Apollo and gave him a small hug " Thanks again for helping Apollo, I don't know how I'd do this with out you" she could hear is heart beat through the embrace. It was strong steady beat. With no warning a loud explosion erupted from the convenience store forcing Linette to hold her ears in pain. She turned to see the small store in a torrent of flames and smoke. There was no way the captain could've survived that blast; she turned back to APollo

Run into the story for a snack? If he needed something to eat then Apollo could have given it to him. But instead of asking, this captain thought it best to buy his own. Apollo wasn't complaining, however, as that meant that he could keep his gummy bears all to himself... And Bayla if she wanted some... And Linnette if she wanted some.
As the captain walked to the store, Linnette took the chance to give Apollo a small hug. At first, he shook like he always did when a woman, especially one as attractive as Linnette, touched him. However, as the mermaid thanked Apollo for coming with her, he felt a sense of peacefulness with her holding him. This hadn't happened since his adopted mother held him and he was given a warming feeling. The wonderful feeling made him blissful, as it did now while Linnette hugged him. Apollo thought, for just that moment, that he was knowing the true feeling of friendship.
That feeling, however, did not last long as a giant explosion nearly destroyed the teens eardrums. The friction from the blast almost knocked Apollo to his feet, and he suddenly got the sense to throw up all over the ground. Although, he kept his composure as best as he could. When he was finally able to pay some attention, he noticed that the store which the captain walked to was no longer standing the way it used to. It's missing pieces was causing some other building to catch fire, and the people that were once inside were definitely no longer alive.
Linnette looked to Apollo for answers, but he couldn't respond. Instead, Apollo slowly fell to his knees in awe of the sight in front of him. "No..." Apollo said under his breath. Then, he rose up and yelled. "NO! THIS WAS NOT HOW YOU MAKE YOUR EXIT! YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSE TO DIE!" Apollo rubbed his head in frustration. Tears were beginning to fall down his face, uncontrollably and rampantly. "YOU WERE SUPPOSE TO COME WITH US! You... YOU WANTED TO SEE THESE AHKLUT AS MUCH AS WE DID! SO WHY?!" Apollo fell to his knees again. "Why did you have to die... And what the heck do we do now!"
All of a sudden, a hand was gently placed on his shoulder. Apollo looked up and saw Bayla in her human form; a skinny yet robust woman with the same skin color as him and red hair. She was naked, seeing as Apollo did not think it fit to bring her clothing. She carefully wiped a tear off his face, then said to him through his mind, We continue... And we don't look back.
Apollo nodded, accepting that answer from his dragon for now. He stood up again, and Bayla transformed herself into an arctic wolf as he did so. Apollo walked over to Linnette, and with one extended finger said, "We keep going. We have a mission to do and will not leave until we complete it. But one new rule now." He sighed. "No more deaths. We sneak into the camp and steal the cub you want, understood?"
If she agreed with him, Apollo would smile, wipe away some of his tears, then walk off to where they said they would head to, which was near the coast.

Jack watched with no small amount of interest as a young man, somewhere near his own age, fell to his knees and started shouting out some crazy speak, real dramatic like. Oh, also a building had exploded shortly before. Why would Jack be interesting in a crazy person? Well, he was interested because the young man had screamed something about Akhlut. This interested Jack greatly because he knew a thing or two about the beasties mentioned.
The thought occurred to Jack that the other young man was on an Akhlut hunt. He was certainly armed for such, as far as Jack could tell. A young woman with blue hair stood near to him and the young man assumed they were companions. He turned his eyes toward what was left of the demolished building. The things the young man had been saying were starting to become more clear. Jack assumed that there had been a third individual in their group and he'd been inside the store when it had exploded. How unfortunate.
He shouldered his pack and began to turn and walk away but something stopped him. Jack sighed before walking over to the two, breaking into a brisk trot so as to catch them before they'd walked too far off. He was going to help them on this hunt.
"Excuse me, but I heard you mention something about seeing the Akhlut? I'm sorry for the loss of your companion, but if you could use the assistance, I happen to know a thing or two about the beasties. I know you have no reason to trust me, but I would like to help you."

Linette watched the fire flicker; crawling among the ruin of the convenience store consuming all in its path. It was cruelly beautiful. Linette looked to Apollo in hopes that he had some sort of PLAN B "We keep going. We have a mission to do and will not leave until we complete it. But one new rule now." He sighed. "No more deaths. We sneak into the camp and steal the cub you want, understood?" she shook her head in agreement with her friend, wiping the last tear from her eye.

I'm sorry for the loss of your companion, but if you could use the assistance, I happen to know a thing or two about the beasties. I know you have no reason to trust me, but I would like to help you." a young man said approaching them. Was it just her or was everyone searching for the legendary creatures?
Linette looked him over. There didn't seem to be anything to concerning about him based upon her inspection, and besides there last companion wasn't exactly normal either. "Thank you, we'd only just met him but he seemed like a good man." Linette paused looking back to the burning ruble, "I don't mind if you tag along. I'm Linette" she leaned in and hugged him. Hand shakes just fealt weird to her, and she really needed a hug after what had just happened.

When a newcomer spoke to them, Apollo placed a hood over his head and wiped his eyes free of the tears. Linette greeted the male with a hug, watching the male to see what he did. Apollo was not in the mood to deal with a male who would take advantage of his friend. One sign of rudeness from this new male and Apollo would force Linnette to leave him. The draconian didn't want anymore loss like what just happened anyways.
"The Akhlut are dangerous animals," Apollo said to the male. "I don't think you have the preparations for them. But, we do, and I guess you'll be safe with us, as long as you do nothing stupid." Bayla, the arctic wolf next to Apollo, growled at the male before she began sniffing the air.
Apollo, I have a scent of... Something, she communicated to her partner. Apollo looked at the wolf with a shocked expression.
Is it the Akhlut? Apollo asked.
She growled. It's something...
Apollo nodded and turned back to the rest of the group. "Bayla has picked up on something. We're going to follow her from now and on." Before Apollo could get everyone to agree, Bayla was off, running towards this strange scent that she had just picked up. Apollo sighed in frustration, hating that his dragon had little patience. Without looking back at the others, Apollo took off after his partner.

Jack's eyes opened wide as he approached, having stepped on a patch of ice and lost his balance. He was going down! Oh no! Mayday, mayday! Timberrr! Unfortunately, he fell before Linette could reach him and hug him. In fact, the young man hadn't even noticed her attempt, thinking she'd come over to help him up after his fall. Which was just as well because the young man was very uncomfortable with being touched. To maintain his personal space, he'd take a slight step away from Linette, almost unconsciously.
Luckily, he wasn't hurt. Only his pride was injured from having appeared clumsy in front of the other two.
"I'm alright, thanks," Jack told Linette, climbing to his feet and wiping his hands off on his jeans. "I appreciate the helping hand but I wouldn't want to get any of this mess on you." The young man held up his hands and indicated the dirty snow and slush he'd managed to become soiled with during his fall, smiling sheepishly. His face was still flushed from embarrassment but Jack hoped they'd just assume it was from the cold.
The kid with the wolf felt the need to inform him that Akhlut were dangerous, following that useful tidbit up with an arrogant comment on Jack's level of preparedness. But he wasn't phased, easily keeping his friendly smile. The young man jerked his thumb over his shoulder, indicating the pack on his back and the shotgun strapped to it. "Trust me. I'm plenty prepared. I wouldn't have offered to join you if I couldn't take care of myself. Otherwise I'd be putting my life solely in the hands of a couple of strangers. That would just be silly."
They were apparently to follow the wolf who was named Bayla. Weird but Jack didn't bat an eye. He simply shrugged and started moving.

Apollo didn't seem to found of their new companion, but Linette was not going top turn away help if it was offered. After all the storm was close, and the two of them would only be able to fend off so many Akhlut before they became exhausted. "Trust me. I'm plenty prepared. I wouldn't have offered to join you if I couldn't take care of myself. Otherwise I'd be putting my life solely in the hands of a couple of strangers. That would just be silly." the stranger assured them.
It was then that Apollo announced that Bayla had caught a scent, and they both took off towards the coast. " Thanks for the help" she smiled at the stranger as they ran through the snow covered wilderness. " I never did catch your name back there?" but before she could continue she could hear the sound of snapping twigs all around her. " Apollo!!" she shouted but he didn't seem to be able hear her. It was then she spotted the large dark figures closing in around them " APOLLO!!!" she wailed trying to get his attention.
Bayla led everyone into the woods. Apollo tried his best to keep up with the four legged her, but eventually he was starting to slow down. He wasn't use to enduring such a long run as Bayla gave, and he wheezed to himself when he finally slowed down long enough to catch his breath. As he did, Apollo finally heard Linette call to him.
"APOLLO!!!" She wailed, finally bringing Apollo to the attention of his surroundings. They were in the woods, yes, but they were not alone. Hungry eyes stared at Apollo in the shadows, multiple hungry eyes. It was as though Apollo walked onto a colony of monsters, one that did not seem too friendly from the look of their eyes.
Bayla had abandoned Apollo, so there was no way he would get out of this situation the dominate way. It seemed that he would need to play things a little smart.
"Linette!" Apollo called out. "Sing to me! We have Euryale's gift, we're safe as long as we can sing, so sing to me! Follow my voice and sing!"
Apollo began slowly edging his way through the forest. If Linette did as he asked, the beasts would be too enchanted by her music to do anything to him, giving Apollo the opportunity to focus on finding Bayla.
Bayla! He would think to his dragon. Bayla where the hell are you?!
She's pregnant, but she's having problems, Bayla would answer back.
What? Whose pregnant? Whose having problems?
The prime! Bayla would tell him while giving him the feeling that she was annoyed.
When Apollo would make it out of the forest he would find himself at the mouth of a large cave. He would have the feeling that Bayla was inside, meaning that the Prime was inside as well. Apollo would wait at the cave for the rest to catch up. "Over here!" Is what he would say until they were near him again.

As Jack followed, he was beginning to think that he hadn't thought this through very well. The young man wasn't exactly fit to run a marathon but he did his best to keep up. Hungry eyes in the shadows or no, Jack was pretty relieved when they finally stopped. Panting, he looked around them. Well, this was beginning to look bad. Beasties all around and them tired after a run. He was beginning to think that no one had thought this through very well.
The young man held his shotgun at the ready, fully prepared to teleport and get the hell out of dodge if things began to get a bit too messy. Jack had offered to help and he would. But he wasn't about to die for some silly strangers who'd managed to lead themselves into an ambush. The boy asked the girl to sing, something about enchanting the beasts. That would be nice, Jack thought. In the meantime, he would follow Apollo to the cave.

Linette stared in fearful aww at the creatures closing in around her. They had an orcaish like head following into a powerful canine like body; the strength in their muscles clearly defined under the smooth skin covering their bodies.
"Linette!" Apollo called out. "Sing to me! We have Euryale's gift, we're safe as long as we can sing, so sing to me! Follow my voice and sing!" Linette thought he was crazy; yes she could sing very well but she doubted that it would do anything to quell the angry pack of Akhlut, but then again it's not like they had any other diplomatic options.
She said a small prayer to Euryale asking for courage and began singing the first song that came to mind. " So what we get drunk So what we smoke weed We're just having fun We don't care who sees So what we go out That's how its supposed to be Living young and wild and free Uh, Uh huh So what I keep 'em rolled up Saggin' my pants not caring what I show Keep it real with my niggas Keep it playin for these...." Yes it probably wasn't the most beautiful song she could've chosen, but it was the first thing that came to mind and she was nearly ready to pee herself.
Suprisingly the beasts seemed calm, and Linette made her way closer to Apollo. She sure hoped he had a plan because the song was almost over.

The singing was working just fine. The beasts were instantly calmed by Linette's beautiful voice, allowing the other two to finally catch up with Apollo, who was standing at and staring into the mouth of the cave. He looked very angry, as though something happened to really piss him off. When Apollo saw Linette, though, his expression turned from anger to worry.
"Hold on real tight," Apollo began to sing his words. Having the same blessing as Linette, he was able to move every creature with his song. He decided to use this as his advantage. And, as long as one of them were singing, the Akhlut would not attack. "Because this is about to be a musical, musical, musical, QUEST!"
Apollo moved to Linette and pointed to the cave. Still singing, he said, "There is a creature in there, giving birth, but is almost DEAD! She needs some help, but I can't help, because I don't know how BIRTH A BABY! Please tell me you can help, tell me any one of you can birth a BABY! Or else our quest is done."

So Linette started singing, or whatever you wanted to call it. The creatures seemed properly enchanted by her voice, though the song or whatever she'd chosen wouldn't have been Jack's first pick if he'd had to guess as to what she'd start singing in this particular situation. But whatever. Apparently there was a pregnant monster to attend to.
The pregnant Ak seemed to be going through labor, attempting to give birth. Unfortunately, it seemed to be a difficult birth. In the human world that wouldn't be too much of a problem. There were a dozen different ways a doctor can attempt to overcome complications. But out here... Odds were the beast was gonna die. How unfortunate.
"I'm afraid I happen to be a bit rusty on my mythical creature baby delivering skills," Jack said apologetically, still holding his shotgun at the ready, but not quite pointing it at anything, just in case the singing failed and they were attacked.
